Most of the days lately were the same, he'd get up in the morning before being dragged to the kitchen by Han, he had this thing about them eating breakfast together and the elder star would always have something prepared in the morning. After eating whatever it was the star wanted to test on him today, he'd chat with him and Jae for a bit before heading off to shower and putting on his uniform for work. He'd head out to meet Astraea halfway to the cafe and the two of them would walk up for their shift.

Having noticed how she had a good impact on his working ethic they often put her on the same schedule as him which he never complained about as she was one of the people he actually got along with there. The morning tended to fly by between all of the working crowd heading in for their morning coffee but after lunch was when things started to get quieter. Usually, they'd joke around a bit between the customers coming in which would get them through to the end of the day. It wasn't the most exciting schedule but he found himself enjoying the familiarity of it all.

But the past few days, when he reached the subway stop he would always wait for Astraea at, she hadn't been there. By the time they called into work they informed him she had called in sick but today was the third day with the same story and he was starting to worry there was something more going on. Even if she was sick it wasn't like her not to send him those random text messages she always did, usually chronicling her day or something interesting she found while scrolling online.

So instead of heading home after his shift, he hung up his apron and grabbed his bag, heading out but instead of going the usual way, he headed to the familiar route which lead to her place. He wondered for a moment if he was being nosy to show up here but then he was reminded that she would do the exact same thing had the roles been switched. So he headed up to the door of the house and rang the bell, he waited for a while to no reply before frowning and pulling out his phone to dial her number.
Whenever I Think of You (Caleb & Carmela) (Comp)tag:eternalcityrp.com,2021-07-07:6610746:Topic:4278482021-07-07T17:11:43.480Z✓ Caleb Eli Segal ~Mod~https://eternalcityrp.com/profile/CalebSegal

The heat of the summer sun pulsed down on Caleb’s shoulders as he stepped out of the house and walked toward the white fence that surrounded his property. It was August. The early days of spring had come and gone with the soft breeze. The morning hours had been spent packing his belongings into about twelve boxes. Nature and solitude nursed him back to health after the tragedy. Now, he only wished to be closer to Octavia. That meant leaving behind this place and moving further into the city, which was only a few miles away from the Ailwards. There was a blue Chevy sitting on the lawn that was filled with half his belongings. The other half were packed away in storage and yet more were scattered across his father’s ranch in Texas and his Grandmother’s apartment in Paris. It was emotional to be leaving this patch of land. It was the first place he’d called home in fifteen years, but Caleb had not spent as much time here during the summer as he’d planned.

He’d gotten distracted. A twenty-four hour road-trip had become longer and longer, until weeks had passed by without him noticing..The grass was taller than it had been and it brushed his legs as he came to look out over the lake. He’d somehow thought that this would be the last move of his life, but a new relationship had shown the impracticalities of such minimalist living. The little slice of heaven would always hold a special place in his heart, but it was time to keep moving. The only thing he regretted was not being able to carry the willow tree with him.

It was taller now. With Aurantia’s help, it had sprouted up dramatically in the last three years. It reached his torso now. It was easy to imagine that at six years old, his son would have been tall like his Daddy and perhaps been as tall as the tree. Caleb shoved his fingers deeply into the pockets of his jeans as he walked down the driveway to greet the sapling. The original still lived in Paris. He and Ava had planted it in the back garden on one of the first days that she was strong enough to get out of bed.

Caleb crouched down by the tiny tree with a wistful expression on his face.It had been a good year. He’d focused mostly on turning over new leaves, instead of grieving the old ones. He ran his fingers down the bark. In the back of his mind, the image of a little boy with gleeful blue eyes and bright red hair floated to the surface. He wanted to push it away.

Everyone had told him that it would get better with time and it had, but Celeste had been right that nothing had ever filled that very unique Darcy-shaped hole in his heart. It was just there. He’d slowly started picturing a future with Octavia, but hadn’t dared to hope that far. Deep down, the young man knew that he was forgetting something. It was nearly August. August. August twelfth. It was important.

It wasn’t just important because he’d rented the blue chevy to help him move. Memories shifted in his brain, filing into order, until one came into focus. Dread became the prevailing emotion, but before he could back away a strong image cemented in his mind of a white hospital room, his fiancee lying almost catatonic as she stared out the window, and the small empty bassinet.

Caleb pushed his lips into a thin line, furrowing his brows. He had been so busy. He’d gotten sidetracked. He’d forgotten. How could he forget? One of only a few important dates that had once been tattooed onto his mind has passed by with surprising ease. Three days ago had been his son’s birthday.

He took a deep breath of the humid air as a giant wave of guilt washed over him. and pushed his hands into the mulch that steadied the tree. He didn’t want to move. He didn’t want to leave. The branches swayed in the wind. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

The tree said nothing, which left his mind to wander. Like his mama, Darcy had bright red hair the day he was born. The day he was born was also the day that he’d passed away. They’d spent six precious hours holding his tiny body and reading him stories. Singing. He remembered the moment that the tiny, shallow breaths just stopped. There had been no warning. Everything leading up to that day had suggested that they would bring home a healthy, happy baby. Caleb hadn’t cried. He’d needed to be strong for Ava. It was only after he lost her too that the dam finally broke loose. They’d planned a funeral for their child before they ever saw him walk. Only a year later, he'd been alone.

The last few five years had changed him, but it took so little to remember everything that had happened. The sun was fading away into an afternoon storm. Caleb swallowed, hard, and stood up. He couldn’t leave the city on such short notice. He couldn’t go visit their graves. The only place he knew to go was the same place that he’d grieved Ava four years ago. It was a small cemetery on the back of one of the oldest chapels in town. It was never busy. Most likely, the people who were buried there were lost to time. No one had ever minded his presence.

Caleb whistled for his dog and a golden retriever bounded into view. “Heel.” The Frenchman said softly and the two of them began the several mile walk, side by side, with their shoulders slumped. His loyal friend stayed glued to his side as he found a space in the grass that seemed familiar and stared up at the sky. He didn’t care if it rained. Maybe, the sky wanted to cry too.

She was always away and she couldn't comprehend it. She had to be understanding but she could barely text without having to worry about timezones. Taealha realized she was getting impatient and had to sort this out before it eats her up even further. She decided to stay a while longer at the lab, thinking nobody was going to be there to greet her anyway. Her home has never been that much of a home, not when the human spends most of her evenings at the lab, sleeping at the backroom.

Her phone buzzed on the table and the name displayed on the screen made her take off her gloves, tossing it aside as she swiped the screen to check the message. It was Ivy finally replying after 4 hours. "Ivy… can we talk? Where are you?" It was so hard to see Ivy and she wasn't sure if Ivy regarded her seriously as she does to her. Perhaps she was just overthinking this but Taealha can be quite insecure given the situation. The brunette leaned against the table and typed another message, "I miss you…" Oh how she would love to be able to call her right now.
Twilight (Open to Sunmin and Astraea) [COMPLETED]tag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-09-10:6610746:Topic:4146182020-09-10T20:22:11.824Z✓ Sunmin Parkhttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/M

Settling into a routine in Evermore City had been easier than Sunmin had expected it to be. Ever since he started working at the little cafe, things started to look up, he finally felt like he had some control of his life, even if it was by choosing to serve coffee to the Karens of the world. The money he earned he paid back to his brother, when he refused to take it the younger male would hide in places he would find it eventually, like in his pockets or down the side of the couch. He felt better knowing he wasn't simply surviving off the back of his brother's good graces and honestly the two of them had been growing to know one another better. Perhaps the little nudge he had been given in the right direction had helped.

It had been a long and difficult day at the cafe today though, not only were the customers being extra difficult today but they had a new manager in the store and she didn't seem to understand the first thing about managing. Sunmin thought he was bad with people but she brought it to a whole new level, constantly reprimanding people for the smallest of things and generally making the mood sour. Sunmin had been close to cussing her out a few times but in the end he had decided it wasn't worth it and avoided her by working in the back most of the day. Typically, what made the day a little better was Astraea, she was always this stupidly bright ball of energy that filled everyone with the spirit they needed to get through the day but he could tell even she was feeling the strain of today.

It made him wonder who had put itching powder in that damn manager's pants because she clearly had them in a twist. She knew better than to challenge him though, by now everyone at the cafe had learned it was better not to be on their bad side and that he could come back with a clever statement before they even managed to full start a fight. Usually Sunmin would wait until the shift ended and then chat to Astraea for a little while before they headed out, turned out they both came from the same way so sometimes he would walk with her to the subway too. He had just finished clocking out when he heard more yelling coming from the front room which made him frown before taking a few steps towards the doorway

It wasn't exactly a secret that Astraea was the star waitress of the store and that the owners loved her so he wasn't all that surprised that the manager had singled her out. Jealous and threatened came to mind in the celestial's mind. Still, he could see that the telling off and nit picking comments had definitely taken the edge off the Aurazin's spirit. He cleared his throat, interrupting their conversation "We're going to miss our train if we don't get going" he spoke bluntly, staring down the head bitch with a look that said he wasn't going to take any of her bullshit. It had been a long day and everyone needed a break from this place before they all went insane.
5, 6, 7, 8 (Open to Yeon and Clara) [COMPLETED]tag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-07-25:6610746:Topic:4113072020-07-25T09:53:22.144Z✓ Yeonseok Leehttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/JakeDM

He'd managed to clear his schedule enough this week to run a few sessions and the diary had booked up pretty quickly, he had done about 3 already and enjoyed them very much.

He had just finished doing his stretches and getting himself a water when the PA came in to say that his next student had arrived for their session and he gave a soft smile and nodded indicating they should bring her in. The valkyr didn't recognize the name on the list so he supposed this was a new dancer so he had no idea what her skill level was or what sort of things she was trying to learn so he seated himself on the floor and started stretching out his legs as he waited for her to come in. When she did, he waved with a smile and nodded his head.

"Clara right? Come on in, my name is Yeon and I'll be your dance teacher for today" he smiled brightly as he leaned to the side pushing his muscles a little before returning to his sitting position. He then drew his leg in and sat down in a cross-legged pose as he studying the blonde "So what brings you to my humble dance studio?" he asked curiously wondering what she was looking to get out of the session and whether she was already experienced or not.
Another Cliche (Open Hyunjin and Irene) COMPLETEDtag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-06-26:6610746:Topic:4088942020-06-26T18:58:59.229Z✓ Hyunjin Naihttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/a

Tonight however they were celebrating the recent promotion of a team member and so he had planned to stay for a few hours longer than normal, sharing a few drinks, chatting away, and generally having fun. He was about 4 drinks in when he spotted a pretty blonde sitting on her own at the bar. It didn't take long for his colleagues to catch notice that he had been shooting her little glances every so often and before long they were calling him up on it.

He definitely missed having someone to share a bed with and be close to but he was okay on his own too. It wasn't like it was lonely when you had a 6-year-old to return home to. His daughter Rosie was with her grandparents this weekend though so he was free to let loose a little. His partner kept telling him he needed to get out there again, be brave but honestly when it came to the ladies, he wasn't all that brave. He laughed off their comments but they became relentless, saying how he was scared to even talk to the girl. Just at that moment, she seemed to glance his way so he beamed softly as though to greet her which was only met with more jeers. He sighed getting to his feet and heading towards the bar.

He called over the bartender and asked for a cocktail menu which he read and picked out the ones with the stupidest names and then headed over to stand beside the blonde. He wasn't sure she even noticed him because she didn't even move as he leaned closer. He cleared his throat to get her attention just as the bartender set the drinks down on the bar and he slid a bill over to him, telling him to keep the change as a tip. "Uh hi" he spoke softly greeting the female with a lopsided smile "So my friends over there have a bet on how harshly you'll reject me if I came over to talk to you" he spoke softly and reached to scratch at the back of his neck, "They think I lose my game and honestly they're probably right but" he hopped up onto the stool next to her, it was a spinning chair and so he let it spin around before it came back around to face her and he laughed.

"I thought you might be the kind of girl who wants to help me judge which of these two awfully named cocktails taste the worst" he laughed softly looking at the two tall glasses beside them and he raised a finger "And before you think...well...they're cocktails, how bad could they really be named" he chuckled point to the first "This one is a 'Sand in the Crack' and this one is a 'Hop skip and go, naked" he wished he was actually making this up but he wasn't. Well, he'd said his piece now and so he bit his lip and smiled waiting to see what she would say. It had been a while since he approached someone he didn't know so he felt a little apprehensive.
Lattes and Laughs (Open to Sunmin and Astraea) [COMPLETED]tag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-05-05:6610746:Topic:4063472020-05-05T09:19:27.537Z✓ Sunmin Parkhttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/M

He had also into the process of getting himself an official identity, which had taken months of back and forth and some help from the Celestial Wayfinder but about a week ago his passport had arrived. He was officially an American citizen. Things were good, as much as he hated to accept help he realized now how much he had needed it. And to his luck, last week he had been given a job offer to work in a little cafe across the city. He was sure the owner had taken pity on him but it was something, a start to figuring this whole member of society thing out.

He had been mailed the uniform which he was now wearing as he rode on the subway across the city, he hadn't told anything about the job because then he figured if it went horribly and he couldn't continue then he could just quit and no one would know. When the train stopped he hopped off of it before heading to the exit, he kept smoothing down the shirt he was wearing because it didn't feel like it suited him at all. He wouldn't say he was nervous but he was definitely curious to see how working here would go. Thankfully he was a pretty good learner and didn't think he would need long to be up to speed.

He made it to the cafe about 15 minutes before opening but the front door was locked, he frowned for a moment wondering if there was some kind of mistake but before long he noticed someone popping up from behind the counter here and there, looked like they were cleaning. He knocked lightly on the glass to alert them to the fact he was here, it wasn't until he caught her attention that he realized that he recognized that face all too well. His eyes widened for a moment and he looked around for a moment wondering if he should make a dash for it but before he could do anything she was already at the door.
Dangerous Encounters (Elle-Mae and Miles) - COMPLETEDtag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-05-04:6610746:Topic:4064432020-05-04T23:03:08.584Z✓ Miles Evanshttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/Miles

It’s the time of year when the nights are staying warmer, only just cooling off enough to be nice to be out in. It’s a nice change from the bitter cold of a couple of months ago, when Miles had to wear a couple layers just to tolerate going out for a walk. He prefers this time of year, being able to go out in a t-shirt and jeans instead of a couple layers of coats. He’d been inside most of the day at work, working an afternoon shift instead of a morning one, but when he’d gotten off he’d decided the night was warm enough to warrant walking home instead of grabbing a cab.

At this hour, the nightlife is really just starting to come alive. Neon signs are lighting up, people are starting to mill about in their clubbing clothes, and the general excited chatter from people out in groups or in pairs are reaching his ears and only growing louder. That’s one thing he can say about a city, is that it never really gets quiet. Back home nothing would be heard except the occasional car and the crickets at this time. Miles finds it’s not so bad either way though, both have their benefits and he’s not the type to get all caught up in which is better. He doesn’t have much purpose to his direction, somewhere along the way deciding the night was too nice to waste going straight home and taking a more meandering path that way so that he can spend more time in the fresh, for a city anyway, air.

As he walks, his feet taking him past a bar that’s been open for a while, he starts to notice something outside the usual din of people on the street. He pauses, head going up and he looks around, trying to find the source of what he was hearing. He catches sight of the disturbance a little bit up the road, a group of people herding someone away from the main road and into an alley, which is always a sign of people just enjoying their night. A frown taking over his previously content expression, Miles heads straight for them. He can hear them before he can see them, male voices jeering and bodies jostling and when he turns the corner he sees that they have a couple of young teenagers backed against the wall. They look like some low life gang, their faces covered, and at first he figured the group of about 9 were just being assholes, likely high on something. Then he sees the glint of a knife in one of their hands.

He doesn’t give them the benefit of a warning, instead immediately going after the person closest to him. He’s socked him in the jaw hard enough to knock him out before any of them even realize they’re being attacked, but at the sound of their buddy hitting the ground like a rag-doll, Miles officially has their attention. “Unless you want to end up in the hospital, I suggest you move on with your night.” As he looks them over, he comes to a very sobering realization. If this is a gang, then it’s not a human one. It looks like there’s a group of supernaturals facing him, a mix of valkyr, therians, and humans staring back angrily at him. Fortunately he’d managed to drop one of the valkyr, but since he hadn’t killed him that means the heap at his feet will be back up before too long. One of them curses at him, the rest joining in with shouts that echo down the alleyway and into the street, before they all rush at him. He’s thankful that his initial guess that most of them are on something seems to be true, because they’re tripping over each other in a way that anyone sober wouldn’t be doing. That’s to his benefit because otherwise he might end up hurt. The first couple that reach him Miles dodges out of the way of, returning their sloppy blows with quick and powerful strikes, not bothering to hold back his strength thanks to the sudden dangerous nature of this encounter. With most of them coming at him from the front though, he doesn’t see the one that managed to get around him.
Open Heart (Leighton and Sangeun) [COMPLETED]tag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-04-20:6610746:Topic:4054622020-04-20T15:57:43.963Z✓ Leighton Seth Kingsmanhttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/Leigh

And since then they had been texting constantly, sending cute messages, trading a few selfies here and there, Eun visited the shop sometimes, he brought a coffee to Eun's office one day. They were figuring out how to make a busy schedule work and Leigh was happy. Deliriously so, especially when Eun had called him his boyfriend earlier this week and the kitsune's heart had practically leapt out of his chest.

Initially, Eun had wanted to go out somewhere together but Leigh had asked him if he wouldn't mind the two of them just spending the day at home. The kitsune knew that Minha had been excited to see her new friend again and he really liked the idea of them just spending a lazy afternoon together. Eun had insisted he was going to show Leigh how to bake so he had ordered a bunch of the ingredients to be delivered which had come this morning, he had some of them in the fridge and the rest were arranged on the counter. He would have measured out them into bowls already but Eun was being pretty secretive about what they were going to make today.

He had spent most of the day working through the inventory and backorders for the shop, his glasses were perched on his nose and Minha was curled up asleep in the patch of sunlight which shone on the couch next to him, she loved the sun and would spend all her time there given the chance. The time felt like it passed slowly because he couldn't wait to see Eun again, it wasn't even subtle at this point how much Leigh lit up whenever he got to see him and while he sometimes wished it would be more often, he was making the most of the time they had, just like they promised. But eventually after a few hours of sorting through the mess of the stock system he heard the sound of the knock at the door.

He hopped to his feet, trying to beat the shiba inu who was already skittering across the floor at the sound of a new visitor to the apartment, he was sure that she knew exactly who it was because she never got this excited when the mail man came. She beat him there but he shook his head slightly "Did you learn to open doors? No? So you need me to open it" she seemed to understand backed up a little though he tail wagging gave her away. He pulled the door open and immediately smiled when he saw the ever charming Sangeun Moon at his doorstep "Hey" he spoke softly, beaming, his dimples on full show.
Full Circle (Open to Arcadia and Cecilia) [COMPLETED]tag:eternalcityrp.com,2020-04-12:6610746:Topic:4045802020-04-12T11:22:50.505Z✓ Arcadia Cassidy Violethttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/Cassie

It was a demanding work schedule but she didn't mind because it let her do the one thing she had always wished she could do when she was alive, help people to feel better. In the short time she had been here she had learned a lot, mostly she helped with sorting out the paperwork and appointments, taking people to and from different places around the hospital and ensuring everyone was comfortable. It wasn't that different from her role as an empath, most days she would visit the patients who didn't have family coming in for them and just give them someone to talk to.

Because Arcadia knew someone from her old life in the city, she had chosen a certain persona for her work, she didn't look exactly like herself but she resembled herself enough to feel at ease when she looked in the mirror. Today had been a tough shift, she had been asked to do the suicide watch, which meant staying awake and watching a patient as they slept, someone who had previously tried to take their life. It was the middle of the night when someone came into the room to tell her she could take her break and they would keep watch for an hour.

She headed through the familiar halls of the hospital until she reached the break room. She headed inside, going over to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water. There were always usually people coming and going in here but since it was the middle of the night everything was quiet. But she felt her heart pound in her chest when she noticed the lone figure in the corner, with their head in their hands. Arcadia would recognize Cecilia Laterza anywhere. She took a deep breath, flipping on the kettle and pouring out a mug which she mixed a hot cocoa in before taking the mug and heading towards Celia.

Her eyes softened as she slowly made her way towards her, she knew she shouldn't have, Arcadia had done pretty well at keeping her distance from her until then but how could she stop herself when she could see how upset she was. She placed the mug down gently on the table in front of her "Seems like you could use something good right now" she spoke it softly. How badly she wished she could tell the Valkyr who she was and just be there for her but she knew the rules she had to follow. She was breaking them simply by approaching her or even working at this hospital but if there is one thing Arcadia wouldn't be able to take, it would be having to take Ce's memories of her away.
