Kal had a complicated life. Since he was born the niveis had always been pulled every which way, never really setting his own path in life as he molded himself to what other people thought of him. That was a part of himself that he struggled with throughout his many years, the mind games his father had played on him leaving a permanent scar on him that he didn't think would ever truly heal. And Kal had tried to deal with those feelings himself for a long time, when he first came to Evermore he was a shell of a person, he had lost his lover, his family and himself, for a while he couldn't even bring himself to get out of bed in the morning.

All of that had been around 40 years ago and yet the ice-phoenix still felt like it was yesterday sometimes. Kal had found out about the support group through a friend who often visited the shop, the two of them would talk often and it became a highlight of his day to have someone to talk to, it helped him not to feel quite so alone in this big city. Which is why when they suggested he visited the group Kal had hesitantly decided to show up. At first, he wondered what the point was, everyone would sit in a circle and talk about their problems, the group was 90% supernaturals who had been through equally screwed up lives. But after a while he realized, it was a way to remind himself that he didn't have to be alone.

And so he kept going, at least once a month for the best part of the past 15 years. Kal had seen people come and go, a lot of people got better and moved on with their lives, others came for one session and never came back, but there were a few constants, the listeners of the group who came back time and time again, much like himself. Nowadays it would feel strange for Kal not to go to the group, he found it therapeutic to talk about the things he was going through and it was especially helpful now that his sister had come back into his life. Today's session was a busy one, he noted as he walked into the room, smiling towards a few regulars he recognized and making himself tea from the dispenser at the back of the room.

The niveis noted a lot of new faces today, which meant that Richard, the current leader of the group, a particularly friendly and kind therianthrope, had probably been passing out flyers again. Once Kal finished making his tea he carried it over to his usual chair to the left of the circle, his eyes scanning over the different people seated around him. He waved a hello to the woman, Emma, who had met for the first time at the last session, glad to see new people finding use in coming here. Kal was generally one of the more confident presences in these meetings, thanks to the fact that he was so used to them nowadays, he didn't have a fear of speaking though he did understand those who did, at first when he came all he did was listen.

Pretty much everyone was in their seats now and the niveis prepared himself for the usual introductions and talk when he heard someone else walking up the corridor, he gave Richard a curious look wondering if he was expecting anyone else when a tall male with sandy brown hair rounded the corner and entered the room. Kal arched his brow as he gazed upon the male, he didn't seem the typical kind of person they got here which instantly made Kal curious, leaning forward on his seat a little, the male was handsome with bright oceanic hues that seemed to be glued to the ground. Nervous perhaps? He thought as he glanced over towards the leader of the session again, this was going to be an interesting afternoon, the male pondered to himself as he leaned back in his chair.

Loneliness had always been something Wes had struggled with for all his life. He might of had people all around him but couldn’t help to feel that he was alone. One who was watching the world and everyone around him but felt invisible. A problem. Someone that should be here. Wes shouldn’t have been born. Abandoned after birth. Unwanted and alone. A problem.  The dark thoughts he tried to keep to him were always trying to come back. Haunting him every moment of the day but always showed to others he was all fine. The stress, pressure and anxiety bubbling up bubbling up but keeping it inside. It wasn’t all bad when his younger sister Natalie was around. She was always the light in his darkness. Helping him through all his worries and problems. Emotional teaver.

Now she was gone. Stuck in a coma. In a forever sleep. Wes didn’t know when she’d wake. Or if she ever will. Thats whats the doctors are predicting now as it’s been so long since the accident. No progress, nothing. It was like she was in a living and breathing cell. Wes wasn’t going to give up on his sister. She was all he had left. Gripping on the last bit of happiness in his life. Believing that she’d wake up one day but not knowing when it would be. Wes’s life changed after Natalie’s accident. Putting his whole life on hold, well not exactly. Weeks, months into everything happened he was kicked, more like sacked from the Theatre. Where he’d been working for the past year or so. For turning up late, hungover and still drunk at times.

Finding solem in alcohol helping to cope with everything. He wasn’t an alcoholic but found it something to turn to each night. Forgetting what time he went to sleep. Waking up at weird times. Wes knew that he couldn’t carry on living like this. It would lead to a miserable life. When he wasn’t at the hospital he was at his apartment alone. It wasn’t so bad lately, gaining the company of Rowan. Who was practically his best friend. Nearly living of his couch. Maybe more so for someone to be there looking after him. Making sure he’d not completely gone off the rails.

A few weeks back Wes had noticed a flyer pinned up in one of the waiting rooms in the hospital. A news board along with some help lines. Wes had always been one who choose to ignore it all but something made him stop and look. Maybe it was himself admitting that he needs to find some help. Somewhere. On the flyer was information about a support group. For those who were going through rough times. For people who were suffering with depression, stress, anxiety or their lives were screwed up. Like his was. He knew if he doesn’t look for help soon he’d be kicked out his coven, he was at the brink of it now.

Wes thought for weeks whether or not go to the meetings. Not knowing if it was a good idea or not, or if it'll make things worse. If he’d be the outcast in the group or find himself somewhere he didn’t fit in. Here he was standing in front of the community center that's part of the human territory. Trying to pick up the courage to go inside the place. Or whether to turn around and try to come back another day. He was already late, the meeting was basically already starting. To when he decided to go in. pushing open the the glass doors. The Diviner wandered down the empty corridors, looking at the walls filled up with different displays. Feeling the anxiety fill his body as he was nearing the room where the meeting was.

Arriving at the room seeing everybody gathered around in a circle. Something he’d had imagined it would be like. ‘Was he too late?’ he thought to himself looking around but keeping his head down. “Am I too late to the meeting?” He questioned looking around confused, feeling bit out of place. Wes was taken back almost, catching the gaze of another. Their eyes connecting for a moment, getting lost in his Dark Brown eyes. Lifting his head fully he got a better looking of the male, seeing he was Asian with dark hair with little bit of stubble. Wes soon averted his gaze from the male not wanting to seem like he was staring at him. Not knowing why he was thinking about him not knowing what he was feeling. All was unknown to him. Wes soon took a seat few seats down from the male not knowing that he was being glanced at from afar. Waiting for the meeting to start not knowing what to except or get from the meeting.

The male’s voice was husky and deep, something that suited the rugged way he looked. The whole group’s attention turned to him when he spoke, surprised to have a last minute addition but it was Kal who met the stranger’s gaze for just a few seconds. The dark-haired niveis’ lips parted slightly as he stared back at the male noting the way his eyes stood out even more now. He felt like the breath just knocked out of his chest for a few seconds before eye contact was broken. Kal cleared his throat forcing his attention back towards Richard who insisted the other male was welcome and prompted for him to take a seat.

Kal’s eyes moved to the only chair empty in the circle opposite the other side but moved this gaze before the newcomer sat down, not wanting to make him feel weird or awkward. The niveis was curious though, to know his story, he would have known if someone was bringing a friend to the meeting so this was someone who came of their own accord. That took strength. Kal commended the other male in his mind on that point alone. Kal had come to these meetings initially because his new friend had thought it would be good for him but he had to admit, they did help. They didn’t solve the problem, he wasn’t sure anything could ever really completely fix the screwed up way his mind worked now. But they did give him a reason to want to leave the shop every once in a while which was enough, he found when dealing with his mental illness it was all about the little victories.

And then the meeting began, Kal had been attending these for a long time and had seen many different leaders come and go but he’d always liked the format of them, pick a topic, open it to the floor for discussion, let people contribute as little or as much as they wanted. No one was made to speak if they didn’t want to and there was no humiliating forced introductions. The discussion was kicked off by one of the women in the circle who talked about a particularly hard day she’d had that month and what had been going through her mind. Usually Kal would giving his full attention to the person talking but today his eyes and attention kept wandering over to the new male, curiously watching his reactions to the things being spoken.

He was still listening to the discussion however and chimed in when he had something relevant to say “I think sometimes on the worst days you just need to accept that getting up and having a meal is enough” he commented thoughtfully, his dark hues showing truth to them, there had been many days like that for him, days where he couldn’t face the world and so he would leave the curtains drawn and the shop sign closed. He couldn’t keep being angry with himself for not having constant strength, self-loathing was what tended to make it worse after all. He quieted as the discussion continued his eyes once again drifting over towards the other male who he noted was very quiet thus far. Then again, so were most on their first visit, it was intimidating to admit you wanted help after all, but the first step was showing up.

Wes couldn’t help to feel out of place, to start off with. Always being the one to feel uncomfortable around new people where it times him a while to get used to new people. Especially in a group of people who were all struggling with their own problems. Made up of people all suffering their own problems. That’s why their all. Like himself yet he wasn’t properly ready to admit that he was suffering with deeper issues. Already taken the first step today. Having the courage to go to a meeting with complete strangers. No familiar faces. No one for support. Entering the room Wes noticed how everybody’s attention was on him. Someone who was making a last minute appearance. Wes always did know how to make a dramatic entrance when he wasn’t even trying. With all eyes on him there was only one pair he was looking at. For a moment it was like they were the only ones in the room. Just for a moment. Then reality came flooding in and everyone was back around them.

Drawing his attention away to the group leader or the person who must be incharge. At the center of the circle leading the group. Wes found out he wasn’t late, he was on time to the dot. As people say ‘early is on time. One time is late’ yet it wasn’t a motto that Wes ever used. Always being the one who was late to everything. Easily losing track of time. He couldn’t help it. Here he was. At a place he’d never found he’d find himself. Seeking help with others who is just like him suffering with their own deep problems wanting to find a place where to share their thoughts or give advice. Wes wasn’t sure if anyone would have any advice for his troubles and worries.

Taking a seat almost opposite the mysterious male. As the meeting was starting, Wes listened into all being said. Making sure to listen trying to figure out the flow of the meeting. Taking it all in. Occasionally glancing over to the mysterious male. Missing each others gazes. Yet nobody else noticed. Wes didn’t even know what it meant. Directing his attention back to the meeting leader who he soon learnt name of, Richard. Almost quite fitting really. A typical groupie leader. Wes didn’t know how these meetings went whether there’s different topics. Or if people spoke when they wanted to. Something he’d soon figure out.

To start of the meeting was a lady who was telling of her struggles. Something that Wes knew well, having been in the same situation a lot. The days when you don’t feel up to face the world, wanting to stay in the comfort of your own home, own bed. Not wanting to open the curtains, keeping them closed and everything away. Shutting everything, everyone away. A voice that chimined in after making Wes lift his head up, almost instinctive. Able to guess who had spoken, the mysterious male. “To keep the darkness in, not letting the light break through. Not ready to face the world” Wes marvelled speaking his thoughts out loud looking over to him. He didn’t know if he was allowed to interrupt over people not knowing how it works. “Sorry, am I able to talk or?” He chuckled sounding nervous, not used to speaking in room full of people he didn’t know. Wanting to contribute something, to get something from the meeting. Seeing if it was for him or whether to continue suffering seeking no help like he’d been doing for most his life.

Kal knew the feeling of being the newcomer to the group, he’d been there once upon a time, though back then it was in some guy’s apartment cause the community centre hadn’t been built yet and it had been about 4 people, none of which still attended now but the spirit was the same. So he got it when he saw the hint of anxiousness in the male’s body language. But as their eyes met for just a few seconds there was another feeling that washed over him momentarily, the feeling like time slowed down just a little. And then as quickly as the feeling came it faded as the situation they were in came back to him, the niveis parted his lips for a moment in confusion as to what that was but he kept silent, shrugging it off.

The talking always ended up on the same kinds of topics, a lot of the supernatural suffered from depression and Kal really couldn’t blame anyone for that, especially those who were immortal and had the prospect of living forever on top of all the other things going on in their heads. Kal tried not to think about that too much, it was a wormhole he could seriously get lost in for days, weeks even. The topic of getting out of bed in the morning, however, that was something he could handle and he had gotten pretty good at dealing with his own tendencies when it came to that situation, there was a time when Kal would have just gotten lost in that.

After he spoke he was a little surprised to hear the new male speak, without hesitation Kaldre moved his eyes over to him and gave him an impressed expression which turned to a sweet chuckle when he asked if he was allowed to talk, cute. Richard spoke, confirming that everyone was able to contribute as little or as much as they wished to the conversation but Kal was too busy pondering over the words the stranger had said, they were dark, a reflection of a place Kal recognized himself having been in before and probably one he would be again.

He cleared his throat before he went to speak again, wondering if he could gauge the other male further through response “Exactly, sometimes the energy just isn’t there and I don’t think there is shame in admitting that” he spoke scanning his eyes across the group so it didn’t seem like he was awkwardly only talking to one person. Kal was a regular speaker in these discussions now but there had been a time for a few months where he said nothing at all, really he was impressed the blue-eyed male was so open to joining discussion so quickly “Do any of you keep a self-care list? You know those little things most people take for granted but you feel proud for achieving?” his eyes moved back to the male, wondering if he’d pick up on the questions subtly being directed at him “Mine would be the somewhat…” he paused “superficial things, combing my hair, getting a shower, that kind of thing” he was glad to not feel shame when he was in this space, that’s what made it so helpful for him.

Wes didn’t know how often these meetings happened and how long they took. Forgetting almost to look at the poster more clearly. Only caring to take notice of of the time and place of the meeting. Thinking he’d learn and figure it out when it comes to it. Almost trying to admit to himself he was overthinking everything. Thinking that he doesn’t need help. Yet here he was in the group. Proving himself wrong almost. Here he was. In one of the places he never thought he’d be. Group meetings was something he’d never thought he’d need now was thinking it might be. Wes was looking around the group at all those all gathered around. Seeing all different types of people. Who were all struggling with with their own issues. Stress, anxiety, depression, alcohol or drug additions. All here for a self-health group. Yet Wes wondered which part he fit in. Probably the first 3 but not the last two yet nothing to say he hadn’t dwelled into it.

He wondered what different topics would be spoken about, whether any would be beneficial to him. If any would be ones he could feel similar to. Or if it’ll be the opposite and Wes would be wondering why he was here in the first place. When the woman spoke about struggle of waking up each day was something he knew well of, as well as most people gathered here too. To find the struggle of getting up each day. Only wanting to stay in bed where nothing was able to get to you. The place where you are most safe until ready to face the world. To face reality.

Sharing his own thoughts with others continuing on with what the mysterious man was saying. Joining onto others thoughts, like they were his own. Thinking the same. Not judging for what Wes had said, carrying it on almost. At the mention of self-care list, something he hadn’t taken much thought about before. Unknowing that there were something he did for self-care that he never knew he did. Having to take a moment to think that were his own ones but were probably very similar to everyone else's. “I guess mine would be nearly the same as yours, taking a shower, clean clothes, if I was up for it I would go for a run to the gym” Anything to help clear his mind from his thoughts even if it was a short amount of time. Exercise was one of the things that he found to help the most. Blowing off steam. “Taking one day at a time I guess. Making progress even it’s only something little”

The group had always been a safe space for Wes, at first he had been doubtful about whether it would help him but every time he came, he found himself surrounded by like-minded people, those who struggled with the world around them and who were open to admitting those weaknesses in themselves existed but also taking action to do something about it. He always found it a little inspiring when he saw a new face in the room, knowing how far they had already come in their own self-care to decide to be here. But to be talking so openly on their first day here, that he admitted, had him a little blown away.

The conversation continued for a while, covering the topic of how self-care could be turned into a routine and a routine was one of the keys to really fighting the battle they all faced. Mostly his eyes just kept drifting to the blue-eyed newcomer though, curious by his reactions and comments ”I don’t think it’s about winning the war every day, but winning a few battles, that can make the difference between a good one and a bad one” he chuckled softly. The talking continued for a few more minutes before they eventually come to the end of the hour. The dark-haired Niveis kept watching the blue-eyed male, only turning away a couple of times with a smile on his face every so often when the other male met his gaze for a few seconds.

As soon as the meeting adjourned Kal got up from his seat, he initially wanted to head straight over to the mysterious male and introduce himself but the moment they could, people from the group flocked around to comment on some of the points he had made during the session. His eyes were searching over the crowd for their newcomer though. He excused himself pretty quickly before moving through them to see the male heading for the door. Kal sped up his pace a little to catch up with him before he could disappear “Can’t wait to get out of here huh? I was the same on my first meeting” he admitted, hoping that starting the conversation like that would get the ocean-eyed man to give him the time of day.

The meeting was turned into focusing about about each of peoples own self-care habits. Most few similar to his own along with the mysterious males. Learning that there is more to it than the simple self-care habits. More meaning to it than Wes thought, it mattered a lot to others. When people were at their lowest points their self-care habits were there for them to take small steps. All to help to get better each day even if it takes longer. Routine was something he was starting to get in the habit of. Mostly fitting his life around the visiting hours for the hospital to see his sister but in the days he could not face to leave the house messed up his own routines. It seemed to be happening a lot lately. With more time passing since the accident, longer time she’s been in a coma. More Wes was starting to believe of losing hope. Seeing it everyone's faces each time he went to the hospital, knowing that they were thinking the same time. Pushing Wes all downhill, feeling that he was spiralling. Not knowing which way to turn.

Choosing to seek help before it takes over, leading to why he here. The outsider trying to find their way in. The new guy coming in late too. Interrupting the meeting sharing his thoughts. Still finding his feet not knowing when it was right time to speak. His thoughts were similar to others but mostly to one person in particular. The one who Wes kept taking secret glances of, speaking after each other. People all having their good and bad days, sticking to a plan is not always the way. Wes choose to listen in to all the other conversations taking place prefering to listen to everyone else. Hearing their views, staying silent not finding the right time to speak.

Soon the hour had passed, the meeting coming to a close. Few people were making their exit. Mostly the ones who didn’t interact or say anything during the meetings. The ones who sat and listened, watching. Wes didn’t know whether to leave straight away, not knowing anyone. Making the whole situation a bit awkward. Not being a people person for who he didn’t know. Choosing to slip away instead, almost fast as he came without anyone noticing. Wes looked back at the dark haired male with sad eyes, thinking it’ll probably be the last time he’d see him. Not sure if he would be back for the next meeting. That was something he still had to decide on, now seeing what group meetings are like.

The Instar Diviner took his chance to leave, nobody was stopping him. Heading out of room and down the corridor, the same way he came. His hand grasping on the metal handle ready to open it but a voice stopped him. A voice he recognised. Letting go of the handle, turning on his heels seeing him standing there. The dark haired from the meeting, who he couldn’t get out his head. Caught in the act of making his escape, thinking that nobody would notice that he was gone. Wes noticed how the male must of ran a little bit to catch up with him, raising his brows with amusement almost. “You caught me” He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck looking over to him. “I’m not used to it all, meetings people all looking at me” He admitted, when all eyes on him it feels like the whole room swallowing him up. “You seem to be main person in the group apart from the leader” Pointing out that he’d seem to know a lot, history and guidance. “Mr Popular too” He added laughing too pointing out to how he’d noticed everyone grouping over to him.

“We never did get around to giving out names during meetings” Not exactly going to refer to him as mysterious guy or dark haired forever. “Names Weston but mostly people call me Wes” He introduced himself, giving a small smile still a bit timid around strangers. Wes always hated his full name, it was just what was given him at the orphanage soon after he was left. Always thinking it sounded old fashioned even back then. Wes extended his hand out to the stranger waiting to find out what his name was. Able to tell there was a reason why he was stopped, more to it.

The topic of self-care might have seemed obvious to most people but he found a lot of people who were suffering within their own mind forgot about how important it could be. He was guilty of getting caught up in all the things he hoped to achieve and yet didn’t instead of thinking about the things he actually did. It was a pessimistic spiral which was easier than you thought to get caught up in. Perhaps that was why talking about things was so helpful for him, it allowed him to rationalize the irrational by attempting to put it into works and it also reminded him that he wasn’t the one to feel like that. It wasn’t a cure-all by any means, but it did help.

It really wasn’t like Kal to chase after people, he was the loner type most of the time, he was happy with his own company and things felt easier when he didn’t have to worry about other people, that’s why his tribe suddenly showing up in Evermore was having such an impact on him and while he knew he could just leave and start over if he wanted he felt a certain level of attachment to Evermore that he couldn’t explain, it wasn’t just a city to him, it was the first place that he’d ever really felt like himself in. Perhaps that made him a sappy idiot and perhaps he didn’t care. But here he was, almost running down the hall to stop the sandy-haired male from getting away, he had to know his name at least.

Kal laughed softly when the other male admitted to being caught, honestly, the niveis wasn’t trying to shame him or anything, he knew exactly how he felt. In the path to getting help, the hardest part had to be admitting you needed it and asking for it. That was what made him so in awe of everyone who showed up here, especially when it was by their own accord and not because a friend had dragged them there “No one likes to be the center of attention” he responded honestly in response to the other male’s concerns, he could see that he was nervous but the fact that he was still here told Kal he was willing to listen too “But the first meeting is always the hardest, after that you’re no longer the new guy right?” Kal nodded a little, he was somewhat of an advocate for these meetings because they had been so helpful to him but perhaps there was a little selfishness in there too.

When the male turned it around on him Kal nodded a little a shrugged “Well I’m the longest attending member so everyone knows me by now” he smiled softly, he liked to think maybe he’d helped a few others to feel better about themselves in the process. “Which probably tells you about how fucked up my head is” he shrugged, he was pretty upfront about the struggles he went through, not always the specifics behind them because there were humans in the group at times and you couldn’t exactly just go blabbing about how your niveis father killed a bunch of people you loved “But you contributed on your very first meeting, so really the MVP of today goes to you” his smile was sincere.

Taking it as a good sign that the other male hadn’t tried to bolt out the door yet, Kaldre stepped closer just as he started to introduce himself. Seeing the formal way that Wes offered his hand out he couldn’t help the chuckle which escaped his lips, but he reached his hand out, the metal of his rings resting against the other male’s fingertips as he gave him a firm handshake “Name’s Kaldre” he wrinkled his nose a little “Though that’s the name my father gave me and I hate him, so call me Kal” well there was a further look at that screwed up mind. He stayed there for a moment longer than was probably needed looking back at the blue-eyed male up close. Gorgeous. No doubting that.

Clearing his throat he let go of his hand and stepped back a little “You probably want to run and never see this place again but uh…” why did he feel nervous? This wasn’t anything he hadn’t asked people before “We tend to head to a bar down the street to get some food and drinks after meetings, you’re welcome to come” truthfully he wanted to get to know this mysterious male better.

Wes was still at the first stages, trying to find and seek help. Before life would swallow him whole. Taking the first step today was the start. Almost in a way of admitting that he wasn't all that right. Years of struggling all built up, waiting to come up on the surface. All that's happened to his sister was the tipping point to it all. Natalie was the one to keep him sane, he was struggling without her. Wes was still trying to figure things out. What the best type of help he needed to seek. Whether it was to get professional help, if there was medication he needed to take or to go to meetings with people. Choosing to go to the more better approach as he was still figuring things out.  Leaving the room he didn’t know if he’d be back for the next meeting. Today was an insight of what it was like. Yet Wes was a bit distracted during the meeting. Noticing the secret glances being given to him by the mysterious male, yet Wes couldn’t help to look back. Noticing he was caught too.

Not expecting to be stopped on his way out of the building but here he was. Stopped in his tracks. He weren’t so surprised, maybe Wes was the first new person they had in weeks. Seeing as people were surprised when Wes had contributed to the meeting in his first one. “I guess I was the new fresh you” Wes chuckled shaking his head looking to him. “Center of attention is something no one like us want to be” Preferring to be one of the people sitting in the back of the room yet it was bit more difficult with back there everyone was gathered in a circle. Nobody could get away unnoticed. “I still got to choose whether I’ll be back for the next one” He admitted but Wes didn’t know if his mind would be changed. Or for someone or something to do so.

Wes was a bit surprised but on the other hand he wasn’t at the same time to hear the male was the longest person attending the meeting. “You ever think of running it than that other bloke. He was dronning on a bit too much but said all the points” Seeing if wanted to take a different spin on it to be a leader than listener but Wes weren’t the one to pribe. “We’re just as fucked up in our own ways” Wes reassured pointing out, if their minds weren’t as messed up they wouldn’t be in same meeting. Both were just messed up as each other. Some choose to seek help earlier on. “I think some people got jealous that we we’re taking all the spotlight away from them” He joked grinning remembering to how he gained some glares back in the the new person being the main attraction.

The Instar held out his hand waiting to find out the males names. So he could place a name to the face. That he did. Wes could feel the cold touch of the metal rings as he shook the others hand. Learning  his name as he introduced himself. Wes thought that the name suited him but soon learnt that its one that shouldn’t. Noticing how Kal had looked in disgust with his own full name. Wes almost was the same but with different reasons. “Guess we can agree on hating our dads” He joked trying to distract him almost from thinking of it. Some of Wes’s own problems came from the abandonment of his parents. Fulfilling his anger almost but tried to sway away from it.

“I don’t know, still haven’t made my mind up yet. There may be other reasons why to stay” Wes admitted the last part came out without thinking or knowing why he said it. More reasons why he wanted to go to the next meeting rather than the whole group discussions. Wes didn’t really unsure. He was surprised with the offer of going for drinks after, never been the one to invited to drinks after anything. With always been the more of the loner type. “Just us or are there more people going?” He wondered asking Kal, wanting him to say that it would be just them not really wanting there to be a big group of people. The meeting was enough for him tonight surrounded by a group of people. “I don’t think I was anyone's favourite back there” Maybe he was one persons but that was it able to sense there was reason why Kal stopped him other than asking him to join the others. Since he could of done it back in the meeting room but Wes didn’t know know the reason why he wanted to get to know someone like him.

Kal shook his head a little “I think people are in awe more than anything, a lot of us showed up here because a friend forced us into it or a doctor told us it would be recommendable, it’s rare for someone to come on their own accord” he commented with a slight nod, he hadn’t been able to so kudos to anyone who could. He could understand being on the fence on whether or not to come back though, it was a lot of pressure to put on yourself to show up to the meetings and talk about the problems you were going through, it also could sometimes drag up feelings you didn’t want to handle on that particular day “The free snacks weren’t enough motivation for you?” the niveis teased with a low chuckle, he wasn’t going to try and force the other male to come back if he didn’t feel comfortable, though a selfish part of him wanted him to.

Kal nodded when Wes asked him if he’d thought about leading the meetings before, he pretty much did if he was honest, he knew the format better than most of the leaders nowadays “Many times” he answered with a shrug “But I’m still not sure I’m a good person to tell people how they should improve their lives when I still struggle with it a lot myself” he answered honestly, he didn’t have any qualifications which could back him up, though perhaps he should look at getting one. “I think anyone who says they aren’t is just in denial, to be honest” he responded with a nod, those people who thought they had perfect lives were just deluding themselves to cope. When Wes commented on people acting jealous Kal chuckled “They just don’t know you yet” he explained with a smile, and neither did he but he wanted to change that.

Kal raised his brows at the male’s next words as they shook hands and he tilted his head to the side curiously, interesting. Kal had failed to mention that said father he hated was dead but he was yet to determine if the other male was supernatural and able to handle the whole I’m over 100 years old story. “It always seems to come down to family, doesn’t it?” he commented with a conflicted expression, nearly everyone in that room seemed to have issues that rooted from the way they were brought up, parents shaped such a large portion of your life and really had the ability to make or break you “Fucking parents don’t even realize the power they have” he shook his head a little before he realized he was swearing a lot and mouthed an apology with slightly widened eyes.

Hearing his next words Kal raised his brow a little surprised, from the way that Wes had bolted for the door just now he wasn’t expecting to see him again after today, that was why he had moved quite to quickly to catch up with him, it seemed like a crime to let him run out like that without a single conversation, after all, he couldn’t have been the only one who noticed all the staring going on between the two of them. It wasn’t hard for Kal to catch up onto the hint in Wes’ words that he wasn’t feeling up to a group gathering “Normally it’s a group thing but getting the chance to talk to you more seems like a decent reason to duck the normal gathering” Kal smiled softly “And from the look on your face I get the feeling you’re not a 'bar' man but give me the chance to prove there are some really good spots in Evermore” the niveis smiled, he had a few little secrets up his sleeve actually.

“So is that a yes?” the niveis asked energetically, he wasn’t usually so forward but he liked to see himself as an opportunist and if Wes wasn’t planning on coming back next week then at the very least he could help him to feel a little better about his future with a conversation, Kal did have a lot of experience when it came to all this stuff after all.

Wes hadn’t really thought to much how others seen him, always being one who was never noticed. Able to to easily hide within a crowd, blending in. “I’ll say it’s more like a doctor trying to persuade me. They keep trying to council me. Pushing me I guess but for something different” He admitted remembering all the doctors at the hospital pitying him. Pushing him to join a family counselling session for people in same situations as him with how to cope after their loved ones dies. Wes never wanted to believe that the day would come, not wanting to lose hope. Not wanting to give up on his sister, even with finding himself slipping into form of depression from it. Not noticing all the signs till now. Hearing of the free snacks made him remember seeing all people kept flooding to and after the meeting back then. Grabbing coffee, tea and any free food. “You sound like my friend. If we go to a store that's giving away free samples, he’ll grab the lot of them and keep going back. Saying that he’s allowed as their free” He joked mentioning about Rowan. Now Wes tries to avoid food shopping with him after nearly getting kicked out of one. “Most of the good stuff was gone by time I arrived in late” He added but knew that he’d remembering him coming in late since all eyes were on him.

He was never the one to think things through before saying them. It was one of his faults, speaking before he thinks. But he knew that Kal didn’t mind. “We’re all struggling with our lives so none of us are to judge” He reminded him if they were all perfectly fine then they all wouldn’t be in the same place with each other. The one truth that all of them could admit. With a lot still in denial like it was for himself like what Kal was saying. “Denial is my middle name” He joked winking to the dark hair before laughing shaking his head. Trying to let loose a little, not feeling tense around him. Like he had been feeling during the whole meeting with everyone else in the room. “Maybe they’ll have to get used to me” Thinking now maybe meetings and everything wasn’t so bad and all. Feeling more comfortable with the whole idea all.

Family was something he’d never really had. Only his sister Natalie believing for many years it was only him till she too was dropped on the orphanage door with only a note saying she was his full sister. Maybe it was a reason why Wes was so scared of loosing her, clinging onto the only family he had, the only person he cared for in his live. Scared of abandonment as it’s all he’s ever known. “If everyone spoke about their family problems, we’ll all be here for years” Agreeing with Kal, remembering how some things were spoken about earlier. “It’s their loss” He mused noticing how after Kal swore he almost apologized for it, making him grin a little seeing how he was forgetting him almost.

Wes could tell there was more of a reason why Kal stopped him other than asking him to join him with the others at a drink in the bar. He wasn’t complaining though, just not used to people wanting to include him in things. More of the introvert than extrovert in social situations. Why Wes tended to stick to himself or just him hanging out with Rowan. Yet recently he’d found himself being alone with his Scottish friend being too busy lately. Wes was almost somewhat relieved to hear that the plan was being changed to just them. “So you want to get to know me better?” He raised his brows smirking able to catch where he was going. “You got me, I’m more of drinking my sorrows by myself than others” He confessed but knew he wasn’t the only one. Wes was curious to find out where Kal wanted to show him here in the city. “I’ve lived in Evermore all my life, maybe I’ve been missing something all my life” Sure there was quite a lot of places that he hadn’t been to. Being the type of person to go to the same places not exploring.

“It's a yes” He reassured, smiled feeling happy in for the first time in a long time. Not being so serious all the time. Wes opened the door again, opening and holding it open. Turning to Kal. “Lead the way” A smirk appeared on his lips looking forward to see what he had planned, seeing he had thought about it. Or if he was going with it as he goes. Or the places Wes had been to recently was his own apartment, the hospital or the grocery store. An exciting life he leads.

Kal didn’t even know why he was so curious about the sandy-haired male, it wasn’t usually like him to seek someone out of a crowd but there was something about the blue-eyed male that had struck a chord with him, maybe it was that gaze which spoke a lot of words without trying, he recognized it well, the broken feeling of trying to hold your life together, or maybe it was the way the other male had spoke so eloquently about his experiences, either way, he found himself curious about him. “A lot of doctors really don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to mental health” he commented with a shrug, it wasn’t a simple thing after all “But this group has helped me to feel less alone in the world” he commented with a nod, something he hadn’t known he needed till he had it. When Wes spoke about his friend, Kal laughed gently “Your friend sounds like quite the trouble maker” the Niveis shook his head imagining it in his mind “But hey, free food is definitely a good thing” one of the little things to look forward to anyway.

“Exactly, everyone comes here because they have things they wanna work through, ain’t no shame in asking for help” Kal shrugged his shoulders, he always used to just bottle it all up but that made him a very angry person, in the first years of his freedom he often found himself having angry outbursts that did nothing good for his headspace. Wes’ joke made the Niveis chuckle softly “Who knew we had the same middle name” Kal teased back with a knowing smile “Actually mine’s Rephaim, which is quite possibly the weirdest middle name I have ever heard” he shook his head a little “I kinda like it though” he shrugged, that one he was pretty sure his mother had chosen, though he never asked specifically. Kal gave Wes a satisfied smile when he spoke more confidently about people getting used to him “That’s the spirit” the raven-haired male teased with a wink in the male’s direction.

Family issues were definitely the root of Kal’s fucked up mind, from the death of his brother to the screwed up damn right evil things his father had done and then watching his sister have to take on the leadership of a tribe he couldn’t stand to be a part of, he had plenty of baggage to go around. “We’d be here for years with mine alone” he admitted with a slight shake of his head, he found talking around the problem worked better for him than talking directly about what happened, putting it into words just brought back the memories but talking about how to cope with the situations definitely helped him and he hadn’t had one of his angry episodes in a very very long time thanks to coping mechanisms he had learned here.

Kal wasn’t even sure what his motivations were, he just found himself really interested in the other male and what he’d seen so far had him wanting to know more, behind the guarded front he suspected Wes was actually pretty funny, as evidenced by the little jokes he had cracked to lighten their conversation “Sure, you seem like a decent person” the Niveis gave a lazy smile to the sandy-haired male “Plus there’s only so many times I can listen to Cassandra talk about how she thinks her husband is cheating on her” he spoke it in a tone that was just about a whisper and his expression showed amusement. “Well you can still drown your sorrows, just do it in polite company, I promise I’m not as dull as I might look” which was sarcasm considering that Kal tended to dress quite eccentrically and stood out in a crowd almost all the time.

When the male agreed to his proposal the Niveis not so subtly pumped his fist triumphantly “I had the feeling I could win you over” the male teased as he headed through the door, smiling a bright smile as he passed the blue-eyed man and nodded his thanks, the smirk on Wes’ lips not going unnoticed by the elder male, who eyed him just a little longer than needed before he started to lead the way out of the building. As they walked together Kal pulled out his phone and made an excuse as to why he wouldn’t be sticking around this afternoon and then ordered an Uber to take them to one of his favorite hidden gems.

“So if you don’t go out drinking, what do you prefer to do for fun?” Kal asked as he stood side-by-side with the taller male and waited for the car to arrive when it did he greeted the driver and then opened the door for Wes. Once the other male got inside he went around the other side and climbed into the backseat himself as he continued the conversation they were having. The little dive bar he had in mind was about 20 minutes away and it wasn’t one he shared with many people so with any luck they would have decent privacy for the afternoon. The dark haired male glanced over to Wes as they traveled every so often noting the way he stared off into the distance a lot in thought, he figured there was a lot going on in there.
