Missions. Ever since working for the F.B.I. Marcos had been named one of the best in the force. The Nephilim had high intellect and even hacking skills; he picked up from his mentor back in France. And more often than not; those skills came in handy, especially when working on top secret cases. So, when anything new came at his hands. He did not hesitate to jump on the task. Whether the situation was dangerous or not. Marcos had been dedicated. Finding, that fighting crime and solving mysteries with the F.B.I was still helping him repent for his rebellious teenage years; where he made mistakes. But this upcoming mission, would challenge him in unexpected ways.

That morning; his boss had entered his office. Casually tossing a file onto his desk, right under his nose. Glancing down at the file in front of him, it read: Fleur Aarden. The Nephilim’s brows furrowed at the name on the file. He had no idea why his boss decided to dig up an old profile. “What’s the meaning of the old file?” He questioned, as respectfully as possible. “Isn’t the girl clean?” When browsing old files; Marcos had stumbled upon that particular file. Taking a few glances at it. So he knew a little bit about the girls’ past and why she had been in trouble with the law. But if someone had asked him to repeat it word for word; he wouldn’t remember all the details.

“She might be clean, but we all know; that relapses happen.” His boss stated. “I want you to keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid...or falls of the rails again. How you want to go about keeping an eye on her, is up to you.” His boss seemed to be giving him free reign on how to go about this particular mission. But one thing was clear. This would need some one to one contact, with the girl.

For a few moments, the Nephilim had been left stunned by the entire ordeal.  “Is that a problem? If so, I can assign this to someone else.” His boss added. Looking at the male Nephilim with a questioning look.

“No need. I can do this.” He assured his boss. Since this was seemingly a big deal. Marcos couldn’t mess it up. But he had always taken his career seriously. So there was no possible chance of that happening, luckily.

“Don’t disappoint me Moretti, I am relying on you.” Those were the last words, Marco took note off; before his boss left his office. Leaving him alone, with the file and the deliberation of his next move.

For the last few years she was trying to get her life back on track. Well trying was the word. With how she’s not really got anywhere just cutting ties with her old like and the life of crime was far as she’s gotten. Being disowned by her parents and family too. Finding herself all alone but that never mattered much to her with how they were never around or noticed her anyways. Cutting them out of her life was an easiest and decision that she’s ever made. Wanting to cut all of the bad things out of her life and that's what she’s done since leaving the gang. Truthfully she did miss it all, her old life in Amsterdam the once places she’s been accepted, wanted. It was and always will be her home Her happy place even if at the moment she couldn't go back there. Still she’d considered it home. Like many other people in the world who had to leave their old city, country to escape to a better place. Looking for their salvation. She was feeling that she was still looking for her purpose never properly having one. Only having in the past falling into the roots of people around her even if they weren't the right ones. Forever feeling that her past was still forever following her around in her immortal years, trying to prove herself.

Fleur thought made settling down in a place where there were people like her. Supetntuals who were still trying to find their purpose and to find themselves. A reason why she chose this city from all the other places. Even if she was still learning the language and the way things worked. Finding she weren’t all alone with many people like her all around just she needed to find where she fits in. Thinking the best place to start was at the Dojo in the Dhampir Territory where she’s spending the last few weeks training by herself mainly, her next step was to work on speaking to other Dhampir’s. With only knowing Nora who was helping her with her training as she was using the wrong techniques apparently. Fleur knew she needed to try to find a new job soon, the next thing on her list of getting her life back on track She just needed to figure out what she good at so far. She’s been doing some internship work at the police station helping with the polygraphing work but finding that was not for her. It all made her uneasy being all around cops the opposite of what she should do.

Today she wanted to pick up a few books on the library ones that were both in English then in dutch. Thinking that she’ll get better at her english skills if she understands the language of the place where she lives better. Preferring to learn it all herself instead of having help from others rather to be singled out. Fleur liked to have routine with going to the Dojo each morning for an hour or two. The first hour she would spend would be running on the treadmill or on the exercise machines then the next hour would be practising on her Dhampir Skills. After she’ll go back to the apartment have a showe and get changed before heading to the library or coffee shop. Very mundane things for a person who doesn’t have a job to do. So here she was arriving at the book shop, looking for the books she wanted. Taking a pile of them to one of the spare tables making her own little set up for the next few hours. Having books scattered around her along with her notepad for notes or inspiration for something she’s been working on the last few weeks. Ready to spend the next few hours wrapped up in the bubble that everyone finds themselves in.

The Nephilim sure had been put in a slightly awkward and risky situation. He had been used to tailing and following those that were still in trouble with the law. Not someone, whom had been clean and in recovery so to speak. But a small part of him could understand, that his boss might be worried about her relapsing; and getting back on the wrong side of things. Hence, why he was given this task. The male, spent a while in his office; re-reading Fleur’s file. Familiarising himself, with the information that was on there. Soaking up the information, so it could stay imprinted on his mind. The refresher of the information was probably needed. Judging from the file, it seemed like one of the cops had let Fleur go, giving her a chance to better herself. Coming from a similar background himself, he knew second chances were rare and important. To this day, he was still thankful, he changed his own ways for the better.

Since Fleur had been in the city, her file had a list of places she was likely to spend her time at. Someone had dug pretty deep, it seems. Opening up, his desk draw. Marcos took out his pen and paper; writing down the addresses on it for safekeeping. Before tucking away the file safely. Gathering his things from his office. The Nephilim headed out of the large building and towards his car. Punching in one of the addresses, into the sat nav. The Nephilim was soon heading towards the book shop, that Fleur liked to go to.

With it being around mid morning, the traffic in the centre was quite busy as usual. As he was driving towards the shop. His own car blended into the ordinary cars in traffic. He was sure, he spotted the female Dhampir from his car window, as he was nearing the neighborhood. Once he arrived near the shop, he parked his car. Turning off the sat-nav and hiding the list of address, in the glove compartment, under a pile of maps and car manuals. It had been a few moments, since Fleur had gotten herself comfortable in the book shop. As he exited his car. He looked casual, like your everyday person that was about to browse a book shop.Walking inside. Marco walked around, pretending to be looking through the books on the shelves; whilst seeing where-abouts Fleur was sitting.

Lately she’s been feeling that she’s at crossroads with everything going on in her life. Resizing all the mistakes and years spent she’s just wasted away not making most in her life. With having no proper stable jobs soon thinking that it’ll backfire on her sooner or later with how she’d be low on money. That she’ll have to look for a job with better income rather than taking internships that end up getting her nowhere. Just a few more qualifications but no jobs to show for it in the end. Fleur was starting to think that it may not be her past stopping her from getting any real jobs how it might be her language skills. Finding how others were starting to judge her for not understanding. Before it’s never been something that's been a problem but this time it’s all different. How people all expect you to speak the same language and aren’t willing to meet her at the middle with helping her to understand. Feeling that there's more preasure for her to try to learn the language more, thinking if she did she’d be better at finding herself a job.

Fleur found herself wrapped up in her book writing a few notes in her book finding some inspiration to help her later on. Yet she couldn’t help to feel that someone was watching her. Thinking that it mostly was her own paranoia something she’s struggled with for the past decade after all that happened. That she was just being silly but the Dhampir couldn’t shake the feeling. Even finding herself looking over her shoulder a few times to see nobody was her, that her mind was just playing tricks on her. Before she went back to her book, tapping the end of her pen against her notepad as a way of easing her anxiety over it. Until she found she was irritating others around her bad habit. Choosing to step away from her books and get up to look for another book to read. Sometimes she still found herself getting a little lost in the book shop thinking she should be familiar with the whole set up and where all the books were. Finding it like a maze at times with how many books there were and different categories. Amazed how a small bookshop like this one was able to have a variety. One of the reasons why she favoured going to this one than the others. Taking a book off the shelf, skim reading the back before moving along to other books further along. Unaware of someone being on the other side of the book shelf, too focused on the books in her hands to see someone has been trailing her every move since stepping into the place. All of a sudden the sound of a book dropping on the other side of the bookshelf made her jump a little thinking someone else was here or something did it. “Hello?” She called out sounding confused that she was hearing things, if someone else was around with how there were not many in the book shop today.

The Nephilim found himself in one corner of the book shop. Seeing the young female was sitting at one of the tables. Books and note-pads on the desk. Squinting his eyes slightly; it seemed like she was making notes on something. Was she studying? Marcos had remained quiet; to not give himself away. As he tried to take a bit of a closer look, he accidentally knocked off a book. Closing his eyes tightly. Fuck. He thought to himself. Great, now he would probably give away the fact that he was there.

He bent down to pick up the book. And yep, almost as if on cue; he heard a female’s voice on the other side of the book shelves. “Sorry, I accidently knocked down a book, when I was looking...for…” What was he looking for? Marcos scanned the titles on the shelves slightly. “New recipes.” Yeah, he settled on that. Seeing he had a few cook books around him, on the shelves in front of him. Whilst he wasn’t generally the best cook, he dabbled in some cooking. Although it was usually his baby sister, that did the cooking most of the time.

Poking his head around the corner, Marcos gave Fleur an apologetic look. The book he knocked off in his hand. “I didn’t mean to disturb you...and your…” he wasn’t sure what she was doing, so he just gestured to her work. Leave it to Marcos, to let himself be in a situation like this. Maybe him agreeing to take up this mission from his boss was a bad idea. What could go wrong? It’s not like she knew whom he was. For all she knew, he was just a clumsy male, in the book store. The Nephilim tried to swallow back his worry. He would handle this. And he could. After all, he was trained to handle all sorts of situations. He could cope with this. That he was sure off.

She’s always felt a bit paranoid most of the time. Always feeling uneasy and uncertain. Probably having to do with where she grew up. Feeling that you have to always look over your shoulder, be aware of people being out there to get you. Fleur had hoped the feeling would go away that she’s not living in the middle of the Red Light District in Amsterdam anymore. Far away from it but feeling she’s not all out of trouble she had hoped she would be. Trying to push past her paranoia knowing she’d be safe in the book shop. Everyone's sanctuary. Unaware that she was right that someone was following her. Right to the place she was. With how she’s not all that safe after all. Fleur went in search for more books to add to her pile of research she was doing on her own. Reaching out and grabbing a book from the shelf balancing it on her free arm as she started to make her own pile. The Dhampir couldn’t help to jump a little hearing books falling on the other side of the book case. Thinking up until now she was the only person around. Soon hearing a male voice apologising for the noise and books dropping. Raising her brows slighting noticing how there was a pause as he said what books he had been looking for. “You cook or learn to brush up on your skills?” She mused a little commenting on his book choice. She wasn’t a bad cook having learnt the art of cooking different meals over the years. With where she grew up she’d learnt different skills with how food back in the Netherlands was much different to what's over here. Something that always made her miss her old home country.

Soon Fleur saw a face to put to the voice seeing someone poke their head around the corner who was still apolosing. Fleur looked down to the pile of books in her arm, with how her book picks were different to his. “Umm there are some English books, to help me with some classes I’m taking” Sounding a little bit nervous trying not to make her accent less thick with how it always slipped out when she didn’t want it to be. Knowing how some people treat her differently, finding out she’s not perfected the speaking language over here. “Are you looking for more simpler or complex dishes?” Seeing how he’s only picked up the book he had dropped, noticing how it was one of the french cuisines. One that's not for beginners. “Oh I see you must know your cooking” Commenting on his choice of book. “I’ve made a few french dishes before, I like to experiment with different dishes for different places” Always finding cooking was something that always made her happy. To follow recipes or experimenting with different ingredients to see what she comes up to, any good coping mechanism or passing time. Learning different skills is something she’s always trying to do.

The Nephilim closed his eyes; internally relieved; he hadn’t caused a bigger scene with the books cluttering onto the ground. Hearing her question. “I cook. I was just looking for something new to try out in the kitchen.” When he wasn’t busy with his work and actually had time to be in the kitchen; he took over the reins from his baby sister; whom usually spent more time in the kitchen, than he did. But with his work schedule, that was probably a given. But the Nephilim did enjoy cooking. One of life’s pleasures, so to speak. Experimenting, mixing different flavours together.

Looking at the young woman, he was supposed to be following. He took in her looks subtly. Her thick curly hair, struck him the most. Next came her accent; that he started to fully notice. Marco smiled softly. “You’re from Amsterdam?” he questioned politely. He had met plenty of different people whilst he had travelled in his youth and in Evermore. But he didn’t recall, meeting someone from the Netherlands before. So this was new. But knowing a bit about different languages; he could place the accent. Nodding slightly, as she explained what her books were for. “Find anything interesting in them?” It didn’t hurt to strike up a conversation. After all, he did knock a book of the shelf; so.  Might as well, talk to her; whilst on the job.

Lightly chuckling at her comment. “It’s been a while, since I tried something new...so figured, I’d go for something French, this time round.” The Nephilim admitted. “You can never go wrong with Italian or Greek Cuisine.” He suggested to Fleur, as she admitted to liking to experiment herself in the kitchen herself. He might be partially biased; but Italian was probably his favorite. Second was Greek.  Both just had delicious food, and god did the Italians and Greeks, know how to put together a well-done meal that everyone craved more off. “I tend to mix things up myself. Sticking to the recipe doesn’t always work out in my favour.” Marcos lightly chuckled. He liked trying new things with dishes, and adding new flavours to well known dishes, to see if something better could come out of it. Not every individual liked following recipes exactly. There was no fun in that, if you didn’t try new flavours, right?
