Aureus Ailward: He really thought that he’d everything under control. It had been four months since the Isle had been destroyed and it had taken the faction that long for both of the Ailward factions to come together again enough to resemble somewhat that they were functioning. Of course they were being held by held by lots of tape and glue and if anyone looked too hard the cracks were very easy to see but at least now they could once again say that they could hold their own again amongst the factions of Evermore. All that had gone to s*** now. He’d never admit it to anyone but he’d really thought that it was all over when the barrier had been discovered. Erythreus had spoken with some of the guards who had passed on to the realm of death and they had told him that a barrier was the first thing that marked the beginning of the end for them. Since then the ailwards had been researching endlessly, trying to find if there was any mention of anything similar in history. The closest they had come was to the myth of Atlantis but Reus wasn’t even sure if that was believable or was still just a myth. They still had researchers on the case but it was beginning to look like it was a dead end. Reus had been looking forward to the six months of peace celebrations. It was something bright amongst all the gloom and doom that surrounded the aspects and guards since the fall and many had been happy for the first time in months. Then the damn barrier. Everything that himself and Eleanor had worked so hard to rebuild had crumbled when that first lantern had exploded. The barrier was like a shroud of darkness that had taken a grip over the minds of some of the guard and Reus didn’t have answers for them when they asked, fear on their faces. Helplessness was not something Aureus was used to. Today was a particularly bad day in the faction. One of the guard had been found in their apartment with a note “I can’t anymore.” The aspects had failed them and Reus had taken it hard. Who the f*** was doing this and why were they picking on the Ailwards? They had been around long enough to gather a few enemies but none of them seemed strong enough to cause this level of sorcery. He’d destroyed his office in a rage upon receiving the news and he was now out on the dark streets in search of something strong to drink. A small local supermarket was the first place that had caught his eye and a clenched fist through the glass plane in the front door had granted him access to the store. The selection of alcohol was terrible but the aspect of time wasn’t too picky about what he drank as he randomly swiped a bottle from the shelf and removed the lid, draining half the bottle in one go. Tears swam in front of his eyes but he refused to let them fall.

Cornelia Bradford: It was a cold and dark night. The chill didn’t come with the occasional summer breeze that blew over the city, neither was it the dark clouds hiding the crescent shaped moon. It lay in the fear in the resident’s features as Cornelia walked down the streets. It was evident in the paranoia, the aura of distress that followed the humans and supernaturals alike. And who could blame them for treading carefully? With the first lantern exploding into bright flames, indicating the presence of a barrier around the city, came questions with no answers. They had exhausted all their resources, gathered any information they could find, which was almost none, and were now left hopelessly trying to find a way to get out of the poor excuse of a supernatural sanctuary. The detective could see the agony in their dark orbs, the struggle evident in their features. And she could do nothing to ease the pain, at least not permanently. As her path took a turn, Cornelia found herself in a quieter part of the city. Away from the bustle and the nervous chatter, the angel-child strolled down the empty footwalk, her fingers pushing deeper into the pockets of her large black wrap sweater, belted over a pair of leggings. It drove her mad that there was no answer to this. Several ambassador meetings, countless ideas thrown around, yet nobody could even hint at an explanation. She had gone through every book, every file available with Alexander and Leona, and still, nothing. “Goddammit.” The blonde cursed under her breath, kicking a tin can with her heeled boot in the process. Things were beginning to change. She had finally been able to let go of her past and made peace with the present. It was supposed to be a fresh start after she’d come back from Bali, but here they all were, stuck in the city in a cruel game of fate. It was the sound of glass breaking that caught the detective’s attention as she stood in her tracks, looking around to trace the cause of the noise. Once she determined its source to be a small supermarket at the end of the road, Cornelia jogged over to the spot. Bending down to pull out her gun from the ankle holster, she stopped to listen to any activity inside. It must be a burglar, she thought, inhaling sharply before extending her arm and walking in, her phone with the torch app on, dangling from her fingers. Narrowing her azure optics, she moved forward, following the sound of the footsteps that echoed through the dark and empty market. However, as her gaze fell on the familiar male taking a swig from the bottle of alcohol, Cornelia arched an eyebrow, light from her phone washing over the Aspect Ambassador. “Well, isn’t this interesting.” (OUTFIT)

Aureus Ailward: The bitter taste of the cheap vodka burned on the way down. The quality of the alcohol made the liquid taste similar to petrol and smelt like the heavy duty paint stripper that Tatiana used to clean some of her brushes. It did nothing to calm the turmoil in his mind or the anger in his heart so his second swig was quick to follow leaving only two qurats of the 40% in bottle. He felt the presence the presence before the figure came into view. He scolded himself for being so rash. He’d left the house unprotected and in his current emotional state he’d more than likely make a haims of trying to fight off any attackers. He’d even left his gloves behind which was something he never did. “You're a mess,” he muttered to himself as a light was glared in his direction. The darkness of the store matched with the bright light shined in his face meant that Reus wasn’t able to make out who was holding the torch. A feminine silhouette was created by the shadows but that only put the Aspect on edge. Some of the most dangerous people he knew were female, he’d been around too long to count them out like some males tended to do. It would be ironic if this was was his end, Argent had quipped at him today jokingly about “a good bottle of scotch” would be his downfall. Almost in a parody of her words it wouldn’t be scotch that did him in but a discount bottle of vodka. He fiddled with his ring, twisting it slightly ready to transform if the female seemed a threat. The supermarket wouldn’t survive, which Ambassador felt slightly guilty about but it was really his only means of defence. The instant the female spoke he knew he would survive this encounter. Now that he knew it was Cornelia he could pick out the little quirks that made her her from her silhouette. The way she wore her hair, the way she favoured a certain leg when she stood still, Reus had them categorized away in his head. He smirked before he turned to the Nephilim, “You here to arrest me Detective?” Taking another drink, he placed the now empty bottle back on the shelf this time taking something a little more to his taste from the one above it.

Cornelia Bradford: “Well,” Cornelia started, slowly lowering the gun and the blazing light. She stood poised for a few moments, letting her gaze rest on Aureus. “You did break into a supermarket.” The detective pointed out with a tilt of her head to the side. She could make out the poorly hidden distress all over his face before she acknowledged the bottle of alcohol wrapped within his fingers. The detective brought her arms to her sides, unable to decide whether to arrest the ambassador for breaking in, or sympathise with everything he has been through and let him go. The Nephilim Ambassador knew about the events that had threatened to tear apart the Ailwards and Guards - the fall of the Isle of Skye, the adaptation to city life and then the barrier - she knew they had been through a lot, more than most of the others trapped in Evermore. Pressing her chapped lips into a thin line, she took a step forward, her gaze not moving from his azure orbs. The Time Lord was not just another Leader of the city to Cornelia. She had often quipped at his sarcastic retorts after ambassador meetings and the two were not exactly unfamiliar to friendship. And now seeing the male she had grown familiar to, being reduced to an alcoholic mess, it bothered her. The city needed to be fixed. “There’s a bar not too far from here, you know.” She informed, finally letting her British accent echo through the corridor, in an attempt to break the unnerving silence. The detective still had half a mind to quietly take Aureus in, let him stay overnight at the station and follow the normal procedures. But she just couldn’t bring herself to follow protocol and something told her they all needed a break. Exhaling deeply, Cornelia let her gaze travel from the lowered gun to his glassy hues, “Oh f*** it.” The angel-child cursed under her breath, shoving the weapon inside the pocket of her sweater. Impulsively, she moved forward to grab the bottle from his hand, swinging it to the side as she gulped down half of its contents.

Aureus Ailward: Reus laughed at the angel-childs suggestion they head to a bar. Half the people in the city thought that the Ailwards were to blame for the barrier, someone had the gall to try egg Malva the other day. Thank the gods the guard who had been with her had blocked it and Malva hadn’t noticed. That could have started world war three. Actually going to bar where those idiots had taking large amounts of alcohol? Reus might have a death wish but he’d prefer if he could go out in style, and if he was being honest the patrons probably wouldn’t be much of a challenge for him anyway. “You think I’d be welcome at a bar? Malva’s apprentice or not i don’t think Stephen would like it if a bar fight started because of us.” Aurues took that moment to actually take in the Nephilim. Her slim figure was silhouetted by the light shining in through the window from the dimly lit street. He could see the moment she gave up. Her shoulders slumped a fraction of a second before she uttered “F*** it.” The bottle was snatched from his gloved fingers, her hand brushing off the dark leather as the bottle was exchanged with between them. “Do I have to perform a citizen's arrest?” he smirked at her before grabbing a another bottle and sinking to the floor. “You care to join me as I drink to the death of society?"

Cornelia Bradford: Cornelia arched an eyebrow at the Aspect Ambassador, a hint of a chuckle dominating over her features, “Fair enough,” She spoke, her teeth catching hold of the soft rose-tinted flesh of her bottom lip. The detective debated thoroughly before coming to the conclusion that the ambassador deserved some time and space to heal after everything that had happened. And above all, the city had far more important things to worry about than an invisible dragon breaking into the local supermarket to get drunk. As she reached forward, a little hesitant yet firm with her decision, Cornelia wrapped her digits around the bottle of cheap vodka, her fingers briefly brushing against Aureus' leather gloves. She looked up momentarily to let her gaze rest on his before travelling back to the bottle, the touch reminding her of his ability to see one’s memories. A soft yet sharp exhale leaving her her slightly parted lips, she took a swig from the drink, the clear liquid hitting the back of her throat before burning its way down. Cornelia winced slightly at the distaste and the slight stench that came from the cheap bottle. She narrowed her icy gaze at Aureus at his words, “Just because I am not arresting you doesn’t mean you can mock me.” She replied, albeit playfully. She blinked at his offer, running her fingers through her sun-kissed strands of hair before shrugging and sliding down against the shelves, slumping on the floor. Bringing the bottle closer to her mouth, Cornelia took another gulp, knowing that it would take a lot of time for the alcohol to kick in, “Here’s to natural tolerance,” She said with an exasperated sigh, throwing her head back to lean against the wall of products. “So what caused the Time Lord to decide to get smashed?”

Aureus Ailward: It was nice when people remembered his “gift”. Since touching was such a part of everyday life it always seemed unusual to other people when Reus avoided it like the plague. It touched him that Cornelia remembered. “It’s fine,” he muttered quietly. He’d seen some snippets of her life before, nothing coherent, from brushes after Ambassador meetings but he’d never asked her about it. Life was private even if Reus could cheat. “Hey,” he laughed looking up at her from the ground “if we get caught you’ll be in more s*** than me.” He smirked as he took another swig from the vile vodka. Her descent to the floor had been a lot more graceful than his own. His old body had protested on the way down but there was no way he was going to stay standing now that he had an audience. “Sucks to be you,” he said tapping his bottle off her before knocking his own back. Before he’d been executed it had taken a lot to get drunk but it seemed that the change of species had brought down his tolerance. The first time he’d found out about that had been hilarious for everyone involved apparently, not that he remembers it very well. He knew his limit fairly well these days but tonight he didn’t give a s***. He was drinking to forget so there was no limit. “Besides the whole barrier and sense of impending Doom you mean?,” he remarked sarcastically. He sighed thinking about whether he should just tell her everything or hold some of it back. In the end he just opened his mouth and let it flow not caring what came out. “A Guard was so frightened about the barrier and what had happened on the Isle that they took their own life.” He stared into the bottom of his bottle swirling the clear liquid in a circular pattern as he remembered the report he had read.

Cornelia Bradford: “Gloves,” She acknowledged with a slow nod of her head. As she pondered over his words momentarily, a nonchalant shrug rolled down Cornelia’s shoulder, “Totally worth it.” She spoke, a smirk turning up the corners of the detective’s lips at the words. Descending on the floor, the Nephilim Ambassador stretched out her legs in front of her, pressing her lips into a thin line. Finding herself in this situation surprised her, if not made her laugh. Here she was, Detective Bradford, the self-righteous angel-child, sharing a drink with an ambassador who had broken into a local supermarket in search of alcohol. She sympathized with him. Knowing what it was like to lose everything one’s worked hard for, she still admired Aureus' strength. “On other cases, I would fight you on that.” Cornelia chuckled as he pointed out how it sucked that she couldn’t get drunk too easily. “But right now, I’m just going to test my tolerance and try to not end up intoxicated to death.” A chuckle leaving her lips, the blonde let the ends of their bottles clink. As she put forward her concern, Cornelia watched Aureus retort sarcastically, throwing her head back to finish the contents of the bottle, “Yeah, other than that.” She replied, her words accompanied by a slight roll of her crystal hues, “That is too mainstream of a reason.” However, as the Time Lord confessed to her about the events, a silence fell over the duo. Her gaze snapped back to his features as she let her hues take in his vibrant blue optics, to his well-trimmed scruff - even in distress, the male still was a sight. She swallowed the urge to say something, knowing from experience that nothing could overcome the guilt. Losing someone one had sworn to protect was not easy to handle, and no one knew it it better than Abraxas Bradford’s daughter. Flicking her tongue over her bottom lip, she tucked a lock of stray hair behind her ears, instinctively reaching out to place her hand over his glove-clad fingers, “Hey,” She spoke, the sneer in her voice fading to give way to solace, “It’s not on you.”

Aureus Ailward: A comforting touch was not something Aureus was used to. It had been years since someone had purposely reached out, knowing his power and been totally sincere about it. The other Aspect didn’t understand what it was like not to be able to do something as simple as touch. One of his five senses had been corrupted and was at sometimes useless because of his curse. He instinctively cured his own hand around hers. The other tightened around the neck of the glass bottle. “I’m no stranger to Death but this...I couldn’t….I can’t,” he stopped to take in a few soothing breaths. “This barrier needs to be ripped down and it’s creators..,” he left that sentence unfinished. He was supposed to be a grand supporter of peace but these last few months...Aureus had begun to doubt himself. Rage always seemed to be bubbling just under the surface since the Fall and he’d noticed that his personality had begun to poisoned by it. “Do you want to know the worst part?” he said to her looking her full in the face, frustrated tears ready to fall but he kept them back by shear force. He couldn’t hold her gaze guilt eating at him. He took another chug from the bottle emptying the thing and let it off into the darkness before he spoke again. “It won't be the last,” he said to her hand as he turned it over and looked at her delicate palm. He rubbed his thumb across the softness distractedly. “And that’s not just going to happen in the Guard, I'd keep a close watch on your angels."

Cornelia Bradford: As Aureus curled his fingers around her, Cornelia exhaled softly, relieved that the mere action had brought him some comfort. Call it a trait of the nephilim kind, or the effect of losing so many people she cared about, the detective couldn’t watch the distress on the Time Lord’s features. She extended her free hand up to grab a bottle from the shelf above. As she pulled another bottle of what seemed like cheap Vodka, the detective didn’t hesitate before opening it, devouring almost a half of it in a go. She tilted her head to the side to look at Aureus as he spoke, “You don’t have to,” She reminded him gently, “It’s okay to not be strong sometimes.” Seeing her vision tilt to the side, Cornelia knew the alcohol was slowly kicking in. The female was used to guilt, used to death and pain and everything that came with it. She had lost more people than she cared about and she was aware of how it could tear one apart; how it could throw someone into the hungry mouth of darkness. So, when he deviated from his path of peace and expressed in anger, Cornelia knew not to blame him. “We’ll bring that b**** down, whoever’s behind this.” She spoke, distaste evident in her bitter tone. She hummed at him curiously as Aureus continued, pushing the mouth of the bottle against her lips as she gulped down enough alcohol to make a mortal pass out. She turned to look at him, his demons reflecting in her own blues, as she swallowed a lump that had formed in her throat, watching him carelessly caress her palm with his calloused thumb, a gesture that soothed her now-buzzing mind. Wincing at his words, Cornelia nodded her head, knowing he was right. This wouldn’t end anytime soon. It never does. “Keep a close watch,” She chuckled, blinking back the tears that pricked at the corner of her eyes, “That is all I am capable of doing these days, really.” Cornelia picked up the bottle once again, drowning her emotions in the aftertaste of the alcohol as she emptied the second bottle, placing it beside her before continuing, “Watch as everyone you care about ends up in a coffin.”

Aureus Ailward: He didn’t even know what was in the next bottle. It green and tasted of apples and was sweet enough that Reus wanted to spit rather than swallow. He made a face rather than take another drink. He’d taken it off the shelf that was at ground level rather than reaching up to where he knew the vodka was. His free hand was shaking slightly, sloshing the sticky liquid on his gloved hand and the floor beside him. He placed the thin container on the floor and it tipped as he knocked his hand against it pulling away. //F***// he said to himself and the sugary fluid split under the shelf. Absently he put the glove between his teeth and pulled it of dropping it in the green puddle. His head swam slightly as he looked at the Detective. He hadn’t meant to make her cry. He clumsily leaded in an wiped the tear that had stuck to her eyelash as it tried to escape. His now naked thumb brushed against her tender skin but the alcohol blurred anything that transferred. All he got was gumbles and snippets and none of it made sense, not that he was trying to understand. He was close enough that he was invading her personal space but he didn’t want to pull away. “You’re so much more than that,” he whispered, “So much more,” he murmured, his finger now under her chin tilting it up so they we gazing into each other's eyes. “So much more.”

Cornelia Bradford: Watching Aureus struggle with the bottle made Cornelia arch a lazy eyebrow at him. Watching the liquid pool around them, she chuckled slightly, shaking her head in silent laughter. “Idiot,” She muttered, a grin dancing across the detective’s lips, one that reflected in her tear-filled orbs. “Gross.” She pointed out as Aureus placed his glove over the liquid, sitting up on her knees facing the green spill. It was when the Time Lord instinctively reached out to brush away a stray tear that Cornelia straightened up in his touch, “Aureus,” She whispered, reminding him of his bare thumb hovering over her skin, “The memories are painful.” Was what she seemed to care about. In the drunken haze, the Nephilim Ambassador sat vulnerable to him and yet, what worried her was the impact her dark past would have on him. She had heard about how these memories impacted the Aspect. She was aware that it was not an easy task to fight one’s own demons while vividly seeing others’. However, once he spoke, the detective couldn’t tear away her azure hues from his. The wicked control of the alcohol combined with the warmth in his baby blues captivated the young female. A shaky breath left her parted lips, her head tilting back under his touch. Thoughts that raced in her mind not too long ago now faded away to let silence echo. She didn’t know what to do; the alcohol now slowly taking over her body. She attempted to lean in, move closer, but instead, the angel-child saw the world tilt around her. Losing her equilibrium, she pushed against his chest, sending Aureus on his back on the floor, their intertwined fingers pulling her with him.

Aureus Ailward: Alcohol had the power to reveal a person's true face. Didn’t matter if you were a saint when you were sober if you were a demon when drunk then Reus had no Time for you. The fact that Cornelia thought of him before herself even while she was intoxicated spoke volumes to the Ailward. It was hard to find genuinely nice people in this city particularly after the barrier. It was evident that people had begun to put themselves first even this soon after the barriers erection. The alcohol impaired his memory vision but he didn’t advertise that. It was nice to have people think you were scary 100% of the time, even when drunk. Even some of the other Aspects didn’t know of this, he didn’t want them to take advantage. “So much more,” he said once again, attempting to draw her in, trying to draw her to his lips like he was a burning man and she was his water. It seems he lead her too well for for the next thing he knew he was lying on his back in the puddle of green liquid sugar with the female sprawled on his chest. His hands gripped his hips to prevent her from headbutting him and to stop her from falling in the goop. Her hair fanned her face as she lent over him and he couldn’t help but chuckle as he slurred “If you wanted to be on top all you had to do was ask.”

Cornelia Bradford: Running her tongue along her bottom lip, Cornelia tried to speak as he repeated his words, again and again. “So much more,” They echoed in her mind. Parting her lips, she finally forced the words out of her mouth, “So are you.” The Angel-Child told him, her vision now blurry from the after-effects of the alcohol. She felt light-headed, to say the least, yet her gaze never moved away from his. “Much, much more.” She added. However, the next few moments were a blur as Cornelia watched the entire world shift, her body losing balance as she fell over the Time Lord. Sprawled over Aureus, she placed her arms on either side of his head, supporting her body as he gripped her waist. It took Cornelia a few moments to comprehend the situation, before his words broke the awkward silence. Squinting her eyes at him, she let out a muffled groan, “Just shut up and kiss me already." Surprised at her own words, induced by the heavy dosage of alcohol, the detective didn’t even wait for either of the two to process the words, her mind buzzing as she lay over him, before finally leaning forward instinctively to draw her own rosy lips against the Ailward’s.

Aureus Ailward: Lust is a powerful thing. Many mistake it for love but Reus had seen and lived enough lifetimes to know the difference. Right now Aureus Ailward was in Lust with Cornelia Bradford and there was no way he was going to be able to deny it. The floor of the supermarket he had broken into was a great place to have this little revelation but he was too drunk to care right now. “As you wish,” he muttered after he got over the initial shock of her words. They were at a strange angle as their lips met for the first time and the male could almost feel the crick forming in his neck. He subtlety put his hands under her and flipped them both in a movement any drunk would be proud of. Now Cornelia was beneath him and was the one in the green goop. The thought would have made him chuckle if he wasn’t too busy devouring her lips. The first taste had tasted like her lip gloss but every taste after tasted like desire.

Sebastian Angelo d'Fierro: Sebastian walked towards the river. He scanned the greenery, looking down towards the soft grass. The d’Fierro smiled a little, before shifting his gaze to the rock where he and Cornelia always sat by, speaking about their lives, opening up to each other, speaking about subjects that they wouldn’t even dare talk about to anyone else, the place where they could be vulnerable even when it was the wrong time to do so. It was a place where concealed feelings could be released with only the company of her, and the plants to hear. He winced at the thought, before continuing to move his eyes to trees, the large, green trees which kept so much hope and life, and the fauna could dance around happily without a care in the world. But not this night, tonight everything was silent, an eerie, yet somehow also tranquil kind of quiet. This was going to be hard, but it was something that needed to be done, right here, in the place where it began and where it will end. The Phoenix bit his lip, hard enough to break through the flesh but he didn’t even flinch at the pain, he just walked towards the rock where they would sit and waited. He waited for her to show up, his heart pounding rapidly at the anticipation of what was going to happen. But he knew, deep down...he always knew. She didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve her. And he needed to end this.

Cornelia Hael Bradford: It wasn't a typical night, as one would say, not because the moon seemed to shine less or the stars frequently disappeared behind dark clouds, but there was something in the air that didn't feel right to Cornelia. Maybe it was the fact that Sebastian had been distant lately that made normal things stir suspicions in her mind, or the slightest of change brought fear. The detective feared that the fire-lord had finally gotten over her, that he had grown tired of the angel-child and was now willing to move away from the picture. The thought itself was nerve racking and had enough powers to make Cornelia wrap her long arms around herself as she walked silently down the narrow forest trail. The cool breeze did nothing to cool her mind, worry filling her veins. The sight of the sparkling water body indicated that she wasn't far from where the d'Fierro was supposed to be. And although this was probably the place where the couple would come for tranquility, there was something oddly unnerving about the silent waves crashing against the shore and the dark figure standing poised by the rock. "Hey," Cornelia spoke, breaking the unsettling silence as she walked up to him, her lips pressed together into a thin line.

Sebastian Angelo d'Fierro: Even though Sebastian had made his decision, it was difficult to put it in the /lightest/ way possible. Doing this was going to tear him apart, hell, it already was. The guilt, anxiety, the depression all beginning to spiral down his conscience. He kept telling himself he had to do it and it was true, there were too many things happening. The Eternal War between the Initia and the Phoenixes, the constant hit squads that attacked him, the amount of enemies that wanted nothing more to decapitate Sebastian? The very thought that the most vulnerable part of him wasn’t a vital organ, but but Cornelia Bradford herself? That was terrifying, and he was going to do whatever it takes to keep her safe...even if it destroyed him. As the eldest d’Fierro heard the soft crunch of crushed grass, he looked up to see Cornelia, the one he didn’t anticipate...the one who caught him off guard. “Hi.” He said, smiling weakly. He had run out of cheeky quips and snarky comments to say, the verbal defense mechanisms that he had in place to keep him sane were offline, because he knew he was allowed to be weak around her. “I...we...should talk.” He said, his voice damn near shaking. Sebastian gestured to the seat by him, offering it to her before beginning to speak, “Lia, I’m sorry about being distant for a while.” He gulped, “But...I’m no-...” He stuttered, before finishing, I’m not sure if we can do this anymore.” He said, looking up to her, revealing that his eyes were beginning were beginning to water. “Cor, I can’t be with you, anymore.”

Cornelia Hael Bradford: ''We should talk." The very words sent a shiver down the Nephilim Ambassador's spine. She crossed her arms in front of her, a pose that the detective had mastered whenever she felt defensive. "What is it?" She spoke, the words forced out of her tightly pressed lips. The brunette gazed at the seat, her hues lingering on his hand before she sat on the rock, moving a strand of hair behind her ears, "Wh-" The rest of the words seemed to die before they could be said out loud, Cornelia sharply turning her head to face Sebastian, "Why?" Was all she could ask, her tone still not ready to give into the emotions that flooded her features. Why was he leaving her? No. /He/ was supposed to be the one who stayed. He promised to stay. Cornelia let her gaze rest on his moon-lit features, nibbling on the crimson flesh of her bottom lip, she tugged at the skin, waiting impatiently for him to answer, her mind a chaos of thoughts. She didn't know what to say or do, but she couldn't let him walk away. No. He couldn't possibly leave her, she couldn't lose yet another person to fate.

Sebastian Angelo d'Fierro: Sebastian exhaled upon seeing her arms cross, the subconscious action she’d do whenever she felt the need to guard herself. “It’s...it’s about us, Cor.” Their eyes were staring at each other, but he had to look away for a moment, he needed to cool down from the staggering amount of guilt he was feeling, and looking at her brown eyes, those beautifully coloured, deep, loving set of eyes...it was too much. As she took the seat and began to ask what was happening, he cut her off, telling her what needed to happen. Her expression when he finished his sentence was one of the most difficult things he’d ever laid eyes upon in the two centuries he had been alive. It was the face of a broken heart, and a crushed soul. “Too much…th-there’s...too much.” He almost muttered, “Too many variables, too many dangers...it’s...i-it’s too difficult to handle them.” Sebastian clenched his teeth, slamming his eyelids shut but a single tear escaping as he said, “I said I wouldn’t leave you...but that was before everything began to happen. Cornelia, I thought I could escape my past and be happy with you but it’s not working out. You’re in too much danger, Cor. I’m too dangerous for you.” The d’Fierro’s breathing slowed, everything began to happen in slow motion. People say that when something fundamental in your life is happening, time slows down...they were right. Every breath that they took felt like an hour, every word spoken felt like a day, every fallen tear felt like an entire eternity. “The only chance I have in keeping you safe from the hordes of enemies I’ve created in my past is to remove you from my life...for you to erase me...erase us, from your memory.” He said softly, “Before I came here, everything I did was for my family or for myself...now? Now I’m doing this for you. I want...I /need/ you to be safe, Cornelia. Because I…” He choked on his own words, finishing in a whisper, “I love you too much, Cornelia...I love you too damn much to lose you.” Sebastian looked towards her, trails of tears glowing in the moonlight, “I told you, when I first met you that everyone...everything I cherish has a tendency to die..so if I leave now, I can keep you safe, and that’s all that I want now.” He bit his lower lip once more, letting out the words, "Please, Cor, don't make this harder than it already is."

Cornelia Hael Bradford: Every word, every syllable hit Cornelia like a separate bullet each. It paralysed her, the detective just sitting there in silence as she watched the d'Fierro tear her apart. She didn't know which emotions passed by her, she felt everything all at once and then nothing at all. "So you are just going to give up?" She asked, her tone laced with bitterness, trying its best not to crack, "So you are going to run away?" And in that moment, Cornelia straightened up, regaining her firm posture, like the walls were building back up and all their memories seemed to be the bricks that would now surround her heart. From every fight to every kiss, every breakfast to every goodnight kiss ran through her mind and she sat frozen, three words echoing through her mind. Ironic, how they never said it when they were together, but now that he was walking away, they rung through her mind. It broke her. To have such strong feelings for someone seemed too surreal to admit at first and now that she did, it was too late. The detective realized that her hand had made its way to his and she gripped his arm tightly, tears she hadn't realized, were rolling down her sharp cheekbones in a steady stream. "Please." Her heart wanted to say, to beg him, to make him stay, kiss him and tell him that they would fight it together, like they always did, but as their eyes met one last time, she hesitated. This was inevitable. People always leave. If not today, then tomorrow Abraxas would threaten him and at that time, she would be the one doing this. But it didn't seem to matter at that moment, all that did were the tears that she wanted to wipe away. The detective uncurled her fingers from around his arm and reluctantly placed them on either sides of his face, her breathing uneven, "Please." She finally said, her voice not betraying her this time. The once uptight detective, afraid to let her feelings show, now fell apart in front of the mass-murderer, "I love you. Don't leave me."

Sebastian Angelo d'Fierro: “You think I want too?!” He cried out, “You think that I just suddenly want to stop being with someone who makes me feel like I can actually do some good in the world, someone who made me feel wanted in this world? Y-you think that after all we’ve been through...I’d let you go so easily?” The swell of emotion that both of them were feeling was clearly taking it’s toll. “Dammit, Cor, that’s the only thing I /can/ do! My past is a tsunami waiting to drown everything and everyone I love in an instant, and I’m not ready to lose you, Leona, Leonardo, Alex...everyone.” The volume in his voice began to lower, “Ever since August...no, ever since that first talk we had right here, you’ve made me feel like I’m something more than just a monster who has committed too many atrocities to actually be wanted.” Sebastian suddenly felt the powerful grip of a Nephilim, her hands clutching his arm, but the physical pain was nothing to what he was feeling inside. “God-f******-dammit, Lia. There are so many things I wanted to do with you.” His voice broke mid-sentence but he continued, “Travel to every exotic country the world has to offer, be able to feel some legitimate peace, move away from this wartorn city...get ma-” He stopped his sentence, not wanting to finish the thought of something that could happen, because he wanted it so badly, but thinking about it would crush him. But once she uttered the single word. “Please”, every atom in his being wanted to retract everything he had said and go back to what it was...but he remembered that to keep her safe, to keep that stubborn, sarcastic, beautiful detective safe from the men and women he had angered from the past...he had to let her go. “I can’t stay.” He said, his eyes drifting towards her, puffy and red-eyed as she said that she loved him, and leaned in, to kiss her one last time. The kiss lasted only a few moments, but to Sebastian, the feeling that he probably would never do this again, at least not for a long time, made time slow even more. As he pulled away, his hand cupped her face, and and he used the index of his thumb to wipe away her tears, “Cor…” He started, “In another life, I’d ask you to marry me in the not so distant future...maybe have a few kids and settle in some suburban house out in some quiet f****** state like Utah...or some s*** like that, I don’t know.” He chuckled, before sniffling, “I love you, Cornelia Bradford...you’re the one who caught me off guard, the one I didn’t see coming.” Sebastian let out a shaky breath before saying, “Will you do me one last favour? A kindness for a poor, restless soul like mine?” He smiled softly, “All those things I would’ve done with you, in that other, happier...better life. Find a man who’ll do all those things with you and more, he’s out there.” And the last words he said utterly broke the man as he said, “I just don’t think he’s me.” Sebastian used the sleeve of his suit to wipe away his tears before standing up, "I...I should go."

Cornelia Hael Bradford: Cornelia shook her head, trying to get rid of that one thought that kept ringing in her mind. Yet another person leaving her. None of the enemies, Abraxas, nothing mattered, nothing could create any more pain than the thought that he was choosing to walk away. It shattered her, the pain was too much. "Then do them with me!" She cried out, her grip unintentionally growing stronger, leaving a mark on the fire lord's pale skin. It hurt. It hurt to see him walk away and it hurt that she wasn't being able to do anything about it. In a last desperate attempt, she pulled him close, her fingers delicately tracing his hairline as she begged him to stay. But he returned it with a kiss, not a passionate, 'okay, let's get back together' kiss, but a final touch of their lips - a goodbye. Cornelia held on to his touch as if for dear life, still not ready to let go as time stood still, letting the lovers delve in their last act of love. She shut her eyes tightly, the salty taste of their tears melting into the kiss before pulling away. Cornelia leaned into his touch, shaking her head at his words. A hysterical laughter gave way to a loud sob as she thought about the life they could have had, the happiness that she could have given him, the love that he'd fill her with. "Pinky promise?" She chuckled, her hues swollen with tears. However at the mention of his favor, Cornelia broke down in tears, shaking her head as she fell to her knees, knowing that the silence would tell him that she would only ever love him. "I wish it was you. I wanted it to be you." Cornelia whispered, covering her face with her palms, before her voice finally gave way to a cry as the Mass-Murdering A****** walked away from the detective he fell in love with, forever. Centuries later, the waves of the river, the stars in the sky, all would speak about the lovestory of the criminal firelord with the angel detective, but what they wouldn't say was the little promise of forever that they would carry to their next life and after.

Sebastian d'Fierro: It had been more than a few weeks since Sebastian and Cornelia had last interacted, their last conversation ending with each other kissing, and both a sudden and abrupt leave from the d’Fierro before either party could legitimately register what had just happened. Yet now, here he was, walking down the pavement that lead to her house, bouquet of apologetic roses and all, and preparing to shamelessly apologise for being the lecherous b****** that he had always been. It had been many long hours since the d’Fierro had thought up whether or not he should attempt to say sorry, and another absurd amount of hours thinking about /why/ he felt so attached to Cornelia Bradford. Maybe it was because she was one of the few women who actually saw some light in the eldest d’Fierro despite so much darkness looming over him, maybe it was the fact he had saved her so many times that he felt some sense of tenderness for her, hell, maybe he just wanted to pursue her because she rejected him and finally getting her would get him some twisted sense of accomplishment. But for the moment, he didn’t really bother formulating a reason (a horrible idea, really) and just went along with his went along with his attempt at redemption anyway. As he neared the porch, his steps became smaller and smaller, the d’Fierro’s thoughts began to run high, worried that his attempt would be futile and the two would never interact or even chat once more, and in all honesty, that thought scared him. So, taking a deep breath, Sebastian walked up to her front door, his right hand clutching the bouquet while his left rang the doorbell, once it opened he’d simply say, “Hey...gorgeous.” Although instead of his usual bashful, blatant tone, it’d be much more timid and quiet, like an adorable puppy...except this one could shoot out fire, and was a bit of an asshat.

Cornelia Bradford: Curled up against the window of her living room, Cornelia Bradford sat by the ledge of the casement like she had been doing for the past few days; weeks perhaps. The detective had been distressed about her personal life, the arrival of a new brother she had shot, Abraxas' sudden disappearance, but above all, a certain d'Fierro fire-lord - Sebastian. The last time the duo had talked was by the river where, caught in the moment, the phoenix had kissed her. However, before she could comprehend the turn of events, Sebastian, like the a****** he was, flew away, leaving her both awkward and confused. The kiss, however, had raised more than a few questions in the angel-child's mind. How could she give in to such a moment? Did she /actually/ have some sort of feelings for the d'Fierro she didn't want to accept? Or was it just some sort of physical attraction? As Cornelia wrapped her fingers tighter around the cup of steaming coffee, she let out a soft sigh. How could she allow herself such stupid feelings, in the first place? After all, Cornelia now had two psychopaths for family who wouldn't blink before hurting people she cared about. Cared about... the words rung through her mind. Did she care about Sebastian d'Fierro, the mass-murdering a******, whom she had vowed to hate since the first time they had met? Hearing footsteps on her porch steps, Cornelia softly parted the dark blue curtains, peeping through the fabric to get a glimpse of the visitor. However as her cocoa orbs fell on an all too familiar figure, a tensed breath left the detective's plum lips. She closed her eyes for a moment, placing the cup of coffee on the window-sill before getting up. Running her fingers along the fabric of her black silk robe, the Nephilim Ambassador padded barefeet towards the door, opening just moments after the doorbell echoed throughout the house. And as the two came face to face, Cornelia could feel the previous awkwardness settle in. "Hey..." She greeted softly, her teeth biting down on her bottom lip as she opened the door wider, her russet orbs falling on the bouquet of flowers. "Now, now, another failed date with a woman who was more than happy to reject you?" She joked, chuckling dryly.

Sebastian d'Fierro: He waited by the front door, tapping his feet while he waited for the certain Detective to open the door and hopefully not be completely discombobulated at the sight of Sebastian d’Fierro standing in front of her with a bouquet of flowers like some sort of cliched rom-com protagonist come to profess his undying love for her...that’d be ridiculous. However, Sebastian heard the magic sound of the hunk of wood in front of him swinging open and let his eyes rest on the woman that may or may not have been taking up his entire thought process for the past 3 weeks. He smiled softly as he greeted her, his voice much more soothing and gentle than his usual sharp, witty, and sardonic tone. As usual, Cornelia had her sharp sarcasm with her and asked about the flowers, Sebastian biting his lip harshly, slightly embarrassed about the whole scenario. “Funnily enough, no.” He chuckled, bloody hassle to care for.” He smirked devilishly, “May I come in? I’ll even make you dinner.” Sebastian offered, “I...we...haven’t spoken in a while.” As he spoke, his words resonated with a sense of longing, before he completely broke it off with some half-assed excuse, “A-and I thought you missed my company since I was basically the entire source of colour in your life. I was worried about how boring your life must’ve been so I came here…” His cheeks were slightly tinted red, the d’Fierro scratching the back of his head before saying in a suddenly irritated tone, "So can I come in or not?"

Cornelia Bradford: Cornelia ran her fingers through her russet locks, a small, almost embarrassed smile turning up the corners of her lips as she opened the door for Sebastian. "I haven't, huh?" She arched a thin eyebrow at him, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Well that's strange, cause I remember talking so much about our favorites, in all the times we've hung out. I remember discussing it over our little tea party with Mr. Stuffy!" Dry humor laced in her tone, Cornelia spoke sarcastically, "Definitely weird that you don't remember.." With that, the detective shook her head, chuckling. "My, my. are you complimenting someone other than yourself, d'Fierro?" She mocked, trying to ease the tension as much as she could before stepping out of the doorway, a hand gesturing for Sebastian to walk inside. "Well, would you listen to me if I said I didn't want you to come in?" She queried, rather stated. Cornelia grasped the flesh of her lips between her teeth, her gaze holding an emotion she hadn't felt for a long time - care. She looked away, momentarily, not ready to give a glimpse at her current turmoil of feelings. "Well, I'll have you know." The detective started, looking back at him. "I was having quite a lot of fun these last few weeks. There was such peace in my office, that I almost felt like in heaven." With a roll of her eyes, Cornelia then shrugged, "Well, since you are /offering/ to make me dinner.." She trailed off, tilting her head to the side, "I shall give my kitchen a break from my surprisingly terrible cooking." Her last few words were a mere whisper, embarrassed of her cooking skills as she let the d'Fierro in and once he'd enter, Cornelia would close the door behind her before making her way to the couch in the living room.

Sebastian d'Fierro: Sebastian rolled his eyes as she once again began blasting out her usual levels of sarcasm, “And this is what I missed about you! The completely kind and polite way you speak to me!” The d’Fierro chuckled, “I remember that tea party too, although, I remember the tea that you poured for us tasted awful. I wonder who brewed it for us!” He teased, before narrowing his eyes as she mocked him for complimenting someone that wasn’t himself, “Hey, I did say that they were a complete pain in the ass to take care of. Although, at least the roses don’t charge into situations like a complete moron.” He smiled devilishly, referencing Cornelia’s very bad habit of heading into criminal infested areas without proper strategy. But when she asked whether or not Sebastian would actually listened to her if she declined his offer at coming in, he simply said, “Nah, life’s much more fun when I don’t follow your orders.” Sebastian stated nonchalantly, he smirked as she stated how blissful her past few weeks were since he hadn’t intervened in her daily activities, “Really now? And here I was thinking that I was the entire source of colour and fun in your life, you’re breaking my heart, Detective.” He joked before nodding, “Good, because I refuse to have that beautiful kitchen be tarnished by that edible insult that you insist on calling your cooking.” Sebastian jabbed, before walking in and heading to the kitchen, grabbing anything that he could, “Hmmm…” He wondered, “Hey, gorgeous, I’ll be making spaghetti aglio oglio. Any objections? No? Good.” He called out, not offering her any other choice of food and beginning to prepare the ingredients: grabbing a pot and pouring water in it to boil the pasta, getting parmesan, red chili flakes, parsley, and olive oil. While he was doing so, he asked, “So...anything on your mind, lately?” Sebastian asked out of curiosity.

Cornelia Bradford: Cornelia rolled her eyes, tilting her head to the side as locks of her hair curled around her shoulder. "Well, not everyone gets to see this 'kind and polite' side." She retorted, sarcastically at his remark. "Hey!" The detective protested, "I can brew amazing tea, thank you very much." She huffed. "Plus Mr. Stuffy liked it, so your point is invalid." Cornelia defended, sarcastically at the mention of her horrible cooking skills. As Sebastian indirectly pointed out her greatest flaw of diving into situations that could risk her life without thinking, the Nephilim Ambassador raised a brow at him. "And there is the mass-murdering a****** I love to hate." She mocked, shaking her head. Cornelia crossed her arms in front of her as Sebastian proved her right that he would never listen to what she had to say, a dry chuckle leaving her lips. "Soon you won't have a life if you don't listen to me." She mocked, nonchalantly. "Well, you shouldn't have made such assumptions in the first place." Shrugging a little, Cornelia ran her fingers through her dark strands, allowing the d'Fierro to enter her house. The brunette simply chose to ignore his comment on her cooking, knowing he was right, her lips pressing into a thin line as she walked up to the kitchen, behind Sebastian. As the phoenix informed what he would be cooking, Cornelia sighed, "If only I knew what aglio oglio is." She remarked, walking into the cooking area and standing by the marble counter. The detective pressed her palms against the granite, leaning over as she watched Sebastian work on her dinner. However as he asked her a question, a simple one at that, the Nephilim Ambassador had so many things to mention - Isaiah, Abraxas, the war that was now slowly affecting the whole city, their awkward kiss - but she simply bit her lip, like she always did, and shook her head. "Nah, no hot officer has joined the precinct yet, so."

Sebastian d'Fierro: “Yeah well, if both of us are gonna be honest, your kind and polite side isn’t much.” Sebastian chuckled, “Yes, you can brew amazing tea, because it takes an insane amount of skill and precision to boil water, put a tea bag in a mug and then pour in said water.” The d’Fierro chuckled, he rolled his eyes once more as she mentioned him yet again as a “mass-murdering a******”, which is completely justified, he sighed and ran his fingers through his locks of brown hair before saying, “Always in denial, aren’t you, gorgeous. Honestly, will there ever be a time when you actually admit you like me?” Sebastian shook his head as she spoke once more, saying how not listening to her would end up with him dead, “I’d say the same about you. Seriously, love, what do I keep saying about you and heroism? It’ll get you killed.” He sighed, “And yet you still never listen to me.” The Phoenix shook his head, “But those assumptions are well-placed. Honestly when I’m not there, it feels like all you do is act all gloomy and sulky, and no one wants to see a beautiful face like yours in such a state.” He flirted casually, his dark, mysterious brown eyes glowed with his usual mischievousness, “So, being the stubborn j****** that I am, I will continue tenaciously believing that I’m your only source of fun, because it’s the truth, and I’m always right.” He joked before poking her shoulder playfully, “And there’s nothing you can do to change my mind about that.” Sebastian then walked in, heading for the kitchen to prepare the two dinner, as he began to prepare the meal, he casually asked what had been on her mind lately, although he got her usual distant response, not bothering to reveal how f***** up life in Evermore had become for her, he replied, “Ah, the usual response from you. Honestly I’ve come to expect all your attempts at deflecting how f***** up life’s become for you.” Sebastian didn’t bother looking up at her, he simply continued slicing garlic, pausing from that activity to drain out the water from the finished boiled pasta and placing it in a serving plate, neatly finishing the whole meal in a matter of about 5 minutes. Sebastian set the meal in the middle of the table, calling out to Cornelia, “Love, get the plates for us, please?” He asked, speaking as if nothing was wrong when the actual case was the exact opposite, “Cornelia, I know about everything that’s been going down. So it looks like your devil for a father has an heir to his fiery throne? I have sources everywhere, gorgeous, don't try to spin the story.” He said, completely relaxed about the topic. "Don't worry, Cor, I won't let either of those people get you. I'll protect you, kinda like a guardian angel...although I'm a bit more of a d***."

Cornelia Bradford: "Yeah well, it takes a lot of effort, alright?" Cornelia rolled her eyes at Sebastian, defending her tea-brewing skills. However, as he pointed out that she was in denial, the detective cocked an eyebrow at him. "Well, guess someday in eternity." She replied, teasingly. The Nephilim Ambassador then blew out a breath at the mention of her 'heroism'. "I am a detective, what else can you expect from me?" She queried, shaking her head, tiredly. "It is one of my first instincts to save people." She reminded him, her plum lips pressed together . "I am not gloomy and sulky without you!" Cornelia cried out in defense. "I can have fun without you charming your way through my busy schedule." Her british tone laced with sarcasm, Cornelia replied. "Narcissist, much?" Her arms wrapped around her frame as the angel-child shut the door behind her, walking into the kitchen. As she watched Sebastian work in the kitchen, Cornelia couldn't help but chuckle, he moved so efficiently; effortless, as if the fire-lord had cooked in her kitchen way too many times before - which was partly correct. However, as Sebastian asked her a question, Cornelia as usual dodged the answer, not ready to break down the already crumbling walls. "Ah well, maybe my life isn't all that f***** up anymore." She pointed out, although wincing as she realized how obviously untrue her words were. Her russet gaze shifted from the garlic Sebastian had been cutting to his unwavering features, about to say something when he asked her to get the plates. "Yeah, sure." The detective nodded her head, walking over to the kitchen cabinet and pulling out two porcelain plates, placing them in front of the d'Fierro. "Ah well.." Cornelia trailed off at the mention of her dysfunctional family. I shouldn't be surprised after all the women he has been with, it was obvious of him to pass on his psychoticness to another." With a shake of her head, Cornelia stood beside Sebastian, her hues shifting to the counter as she cringed at the thought of her 'family'. However, as he spoke, Cornelia couldn't help but smile softly, her eyes travelling back to the phoenix. "Thank you. Haven't heard something like that in a long time." She whispered, softly, knowing how much his words meant to her. "A bit?" The angel-child chuckled, "Talk about being delusional."

Sebastian d'Fierro: “Sure it does, if you’re a simpleton who finds the most basic activities difficult, then sure, it takes a /ton/ of effort.” He continued, “If it’s that difficult to make tea for a Detective, then I’m seriously scared for what the rest of the police force is composed of.” He quipped, although their small argument once again went back to Cornelia’s constant attempts at soloing even though most of the situations require much more assistance, “To get back up, Detective.” He said, although his voice clearly stated that he didn’t want to continue this conversation. “Yeah you are, I can see it all over you. You’re suffering ‘Sebastian Withdrawal Syndrome’. I’m like a drug, without your dose of me, you’re basically f*****...and not even in the fun way.” He quickly snickered, before grinning, “Ah, so you /do/ think I’m charming?” He teased, the adorable grin on his face clearly not going away until he got an answer before shrugging, “Well, I do love looking at myself in the mirror. You would too if you looked as good as I do.” Sebastian grinned before making spaghetti aglio oglio flawlessly, 2 centuries of cooking honing his skills in the kitchen better than even the best cooks alive. However, at the mention of what was going through her mind, Sebastian realised that the events that had transpired during his absence were breaking Cornelia, enough so that he could see through that facade she always kept up with little to no effort, “Lying again, Detective. Honestly, between the cop and the serial killer in the room, which one of us has lied to each other the most?” Cornelia knew well enough the answer to that question, so Sebastian simply left the question in the air, wondering if she’d answer or not. And as she set up the plates for the two, he dropped the bomb that he had kept his sources focused around the activities of Abraxas Bradford’s criminal empire along with his son, who seemed to be equally as f***** up as his maker. However, with that, he stated that he’d protect her from her family, adding, “I won’t let those men hurt you, Cornelia, that’s a promise.” Sebastian smiled before beginning to eat his food. Dinner was relatively quiet, the two simply ate the pasta in silence, Sebastian enjoying her company and hopefully Cornelia enjoying his, smiling at her every once in a while before two finished dinner. Sebastian simply asked in the tone he’d only use when they were by the river, “Cornelia...can we talk about what happened last time we were by the river? I know it’s a topic that both of us want to avoid but...there’s something I got to say.”

Cornelia Bradford: "Not /charming/.." Cornelia trailed off, biting her lip, an almost inevident tint flashing across her cheeks. However, she rolled her eyes at his grin. "Well, I look better, of course." The detective remarked, albeit sarcastically, watching the fire-lord make them dinner. Although as her chocolate optics shifted to the working d'Fierro, a small smile crept up her lips, somehow the scene having a calming effect on the Nephilim Ambassador after weeks of distress. Well, she didn't have to worry about setting her kitchen on fire that night. Cornelia pushed a lock of stray hair behind her ear, leaning over the counter to watch the garlics being sliced. However, at his question, an eerie silence settled in the room which was broken by Cornelia's lie, followed by Sebastian catching it. She sighed, knowing the answer all too well. As the question hung in the air, the brunette set up the plates on the kitchen table, her mind shifted to thoughts of her 'family'. Sebastian's words settled in, comforting her as Cornelia smiled softly, tilting her head to the side and as their gazes met, the detective could feel the unfamiliar feeling creep up again. She swallowed, pushing back the unwanted thoughts before chuckling, "You can be good at times, d'Fierro." She commented, truth and mockery blending well in her words. As the two sat to eat the dinner Sebastian had made, Cornelia hummed, finding the delicacy absolutely delicious, as usual. "I really need cooking lessons. " She sighed, before Sebastian brought up a topic the two had silently agreed on not to speak about. Cornelia swallowed, biting down harshly on her bottom lip. "Is there anything left to say?" She asked, her words a mere whisper as her gaze shifted to him, hoping that the conversation wasn't going to take a turn she wanted to avoid.

Sebastian d'Fierro: Sebastian raised a brow, “Then..?” He waited for a response, “You know, you could always just admit that I’m physical perfection. No harm in finding me attractive, Lia, everyone does.” He smirked, “It’d make my day a lot better, you know~” The d’Fierro egged on, chuckling. As the d’Fierro cooked, he caught the glimpse of a smiling Cornelia, who seemed content at the scene they were currently in. The Detective simply relaxing on the couch, and Sebastian cooking dinner for the two of them, it was almost like they were an old married couple. However, that was broken by Sebastian’s question, which was followed by an awkward silence, then, of course, by a blatant lie told by Cornelia. The d’Fierro then asked another question concerning the moral-bound cop (Cornelia), and the pseudo-sociopath whose committed genocide before (Sebastian), and on which one of them had lied to each other the most. The phoenix hid the sly smile he had at the silence the question brought, knowing Cornelia to be too proud to utter the fact that it was the /trigger-happy Phoenix/ that had wholly told the truth. But, the tension broke once Sebastian promised to protect Cornelia from the horrible pedigree which she had. The d’Fierro chuckling at her reply, looking up only to wink and provide a cute smile before eating his dinner, the two finishing and another wave of tension hitting the air once he brought up the kiss that had caused the rift between the two in the first place. “Yes.” He said, his voice stern. “Look...Cor, I’m sorry about kissing you out of the blue.” He apologised, his voice clearly expressing sincerity, “But I don’t regret doing it.” Sebastian gulped, for some reason, his mind was screaming at him to stop because this whole scenario had happened before and it ended horrifically yet another part, a part which he had sworn to keep locked away, said to keep going, and he did, “Look, that kiss made me realise something pretty shitty.” The d’Fierro bit his lip harshly, “I like you, Cornelia. Okay? He groaned, running his fingers through his hair out of frustration, “There, I said it.” Sebastian then muttered, “This is making look like the shittiest rom-com character ever.” He groaned before choosing to continue, “Look, when I first met you, you reminded me of someone...you probably know her name by now.” His eyes drifted down to his knees, before looking back up, “You share a lot of the qualities of someone before that I was in-” He cut himself off quickly, correcting himself by saying, “that I was close to. Adrianna.” Sebastian grit his teeth at uttering her mere name, the person still holding such a tenacious grip on his life even after her death, “I’m not ready to tell you her story, but I’ll say that you and her both were pretty damn stubborn when it comes to seeing the best in me, and both of you consistently chose to see the light in me even when I gave you no reason to do so.” Sebastian sighed, “But I realised, you’re not her. You’re different…” He paused, taking a deep breath, “you’re Cornelia Bradford, and you have your own qualities which I’ve fallen for. You cross your arms whenever you feel defensive about something, your favourite spot in Evermore is the river where we can freely be ourselves, you love butterscotch ice cream, you’re a workaholic who does everything in her power to make sure the ones you care about are safe…” Sebastian smiled, “You caught me off guard, Detective.” He then said, “I’m going to be perfectly honest, as I always am around you. I’m terrified, Cornelia. Sex, flirting? That’s one thing. Affection and relationships...that’s something I don’t have a lot of experience in. Weird, right? I’ve lived over two and a half centuries and I barely know how to properly manage a love life.” The d’Fierro let out a shaky breath, “That’s...all I have to say, Detective...I’ll show myself out.”

Cornelia Bradford: When Cornelia had opened the door to Sebastian, she had expected some sort of awkwardness, the now-familiar tension settling in and some sarcastic exchange of comments. However, what followed was something she didn't think either of them had the courage to say. The Nephilim Ambassador pressed her lips firmly together, fighting an inner battle as his words hit her like a bullet train. He liked her. Sebastian d'Fierro cared about /her/. Cornelia swallowed, if she were a different girl, desperate for love and affection, this would have been the best moment of her life. But, she wasn't. She was Cornelia Bradford, the woman who couldn't care, in fear of her 'father' hurting them. No; she had to make him stop. "Sebastian...." She tried to say something, anything, just wanting him to stop; not letting his words break apart her walls brick by brick. However, there was only silence on her part, the side of her she had locked away for 6 years urging her feelings to fight harder in the battle against logical thinking. She gripped the end of the chair tightly, her fingers curling around the edges so hard that she could feel her knuckles turn white. Adrianna, the name echoed through her mind, he loved the mysterious woman she had been trying to find out. But she was not her, another voice repeated in her mind as Sebastian spoke. Cornelia could taste the metallic liquid from where her teeth cut her lip, everything Sebastian said, every syllable, indenting in her mind. He knew her so well, Cornelia realised. He had paused to memorise every single detail that no one had bothered to. He had protected her when she didn't need it and made her laugh when everything was crumbling down. Sebastian d'Fierro had brought back another side of Cornelia she thought she had lost. Cornelia could feel her heart thumping away loudly in her stomach, her throat dryer than a desert as Sebastian finally concluded what he had to say. The Nephilim Ambassador opened her mouth to say something, but a thought struck her; Abraxas Bradford and suddenly, she could feel her cliched rom-com story coming crashing down. with another psychopath family member on loose, she couldn't; wouldn't risk Sebastian's life, she cared about him way too much. However, as her gaze shifted to the d'Fierro walking out, his long, soft fingers wrapped around the doorknob, his features sharp and firm, yet giving her and only her, a clear glimpse of the broken man inside, unloved and uncared. Except that she cared and he deserved to know that. "Sebastian!"Cornelia called out, pushing herself out of the chair to walk towards him. "I invited you in, I never told you that you could go yet." She said sternly, parting her lips to allow a deep breath to escape. "You are the most annoying person I have ever met." She started, taking one step at a time as her words echoed through the silent room. "And now as you selfishly walk out of the door, you are still so annoying! Don't you know about my father?" The detective paused, shaking her head. "Knowing fully well what he is capable of, yet you choose to like me. You, of all people, should know that I can't see him hurt anyone I care about, especially you! That's just selfish!" Cornelia gritted her teeth, quickening her steps with each word. "But.." She trailed off, her cocoa orbs locking with his. "Today, I am going to be selfish." Cornelia stood in front of Sebastian, there lips mere inches away as she whispered, "I can't let him take this away from me; ruin us." And with that, the detective finally let her lips touch the mass-murderer's, every emotion, every action, their fights, laughs, sarcasm, all leading to this one single moment.

It had been a long week for the shifter ambassador, long days and longs nights, in fact she had barely been home at all since she had accidently stumbled upon something she knew she wasn't supposed to have seen. She was never good at people, preferring to avoid emotional attachment at all costs and avoid getting hurt in the long run. This morning she had almost done three laps of the entire shifter territory and by the time she had shifted back to her human form she was exhausted and knew she would need to head back for a drink and maybe something to drink. By now however she had learned most of Damon's schedule and she planned the times she made her way back to the house to avoid running into him, she knew she was only putting off the inevitable but she couldn't help it, her walls were all that protected her from the pain of losing others and she wasn't ready to face him. Reaching the house she shared with the other shifter she quietly nudged open the door and took off her boots to avoid them clunking against the wooden floors as she made a way to the kitchen.

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon rolled his neck and shoulders as he stepped out the shower. He looked down and saw the muddy clothes he cursed again, stupid kids, they asked him to help and for once he said yes, next time he's tell em to .. well yeah you get the picture. He grabbed a clean towel from the rail and started to rub his tattooed skin dry from the water that ran over it. He wandered back into his room and looked around, it wasn't the same. He knew what had changed, Kiah, she has been avoiding him it was obvious but what for, Damon didn't know. He sighed and changed quickly into to clean clothes, he chewed his lower lip absently as he thought of her, he loved her with all his heart and even vowed to never leave her side, but since coming to Evermore, he wondered if that was even possible now. Throwing the wet towel in the hamper by the door he headed for down stairs, taking the steps two at a time. He just saw the pair of boots by the door out the corner of his eye, they were the princesses, which meant she was home, likely thinking Damon wasn't here. Well he shouldn't be anyway. Rounding the corning he made his way to the kitchen, leaning against the door jan when he saw her stood in there with her back to him.

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah had wandered into the kitchen satisfied that the house had seemed empty and grabbed the milk bottle out of the fridge, despite being taught better as a child she had removed the lid and swigged straight from the bottle, as she set the bottle down on the side she heard footsteps behind her and jumped in surprise as she turned around quickly and knocking the glass bottle with her elbow which crashed to the ground with a smash, her hand naturally raised to place over her heart as she caught her breath for a moment "You scared me" she said quickly before shaking her head and making her way across the room to grab a dust pan and brush she knelt down and started cleaning up the glass avoiding eye contact with Damon, she wasn't ready yet and now she was also entirely caught off guard, she knew that this was going to happen sooner or later but she had wished it would be the latter of the two. As she finished sweeping she headed over to the bin tipping in the glass shards and then looked around the room for a mop. "I thought you were out this morning" she said as naturally as she could trying to establish some normality to the situation.

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon tipped his head to the side and small amused expression curling his lips, he rarely caught her off guard, might be a bonus if she wasn't currently looking like she was searching for an escape route. "Ran into a few issues with a ditch and newbie shifters, had to shower and change." He nodded. "I would have asked if you wanted to join me, but then again I would need to see you to ask you." He answered his voice a little cooler than he planned. He pushed away from the door and stepped into the room, watching the ground for any bits of glass against his bare feet. He crossed towards, getting closer and closer. He knew it was a d*** move, but he also knew it would put her off some and in hope it would get him more information on what was going on, he's tried anything.

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah spotted a mop in the corner of the room and grabbed it before she started to clean the spilt milk from the floor, she could tell without even looking at him that he would be smug, she was hard to catch off guard and today she had quite literally fallen off a imaginary cliff and had the feeling she was going to drown. "Well that's nice of you to help them out" she commented and allowed a slight smile to cross her lips for a moment and for the first time in far too long she glanced in his direction, she felt bad for doing what she was but she didn't know what else to do, she knew she would never stand in the way of him should he find something that made him happy. Hearing his harsh words she physically winced and broke eye contact with him for a moment, biting gently on the bottom lip she sighed "Okay, maybe I deserved that one" she answered and nodded a little as she set the mop aside she knew that she wasn't going to be able to get away from talking to him so she stiffened her shoulders and then looked up at him, she had to be ready to talk whether she wanted to or not. "I..." she trailed off for a moment "I...uh" great, she had turned into a stuttering idiot. "I found a letter in the room, I didn't mean to snoop but I was cleaning and..." she flicked her eyes down to the floor pressing her lips together.

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon pursed his lips and waited, he wasn't more than a meter away from her. He could she was flustered, the blush creeping across her cheeks, rising up the column of her neck; he will admit he momentarily distracted when his eyes played over her skin, especially that dip at the bottom of her he knew could drive her mad no end. However when her words hit him and they shot straight to hers; well her face, she was looking at the ground again avoiding his eyes. "You what?" he murmured his voice catching briefly as he processed what she was saying. That letter had come from a buddy of his back home in spain, turned out there was shifters there too. They had hit it off and he had been reaching out to Damon yearly to come back and run the business with him. Each year Damon had thrown the letter away as soon as it came, but this year he had kept hold of it because they were in Evermore and Damon really didn't like the city and was only here for Kiah. So sure he had considered it, but it did now explain why Kiah had been acting so off. "And what did you think when you read my letter?" Damon asked, putting a little more enphasis on 'my'

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah honestly wanted to run, she didn't want to say the things she knew she was going to say. She heard his shock and slight anger in his voice, she knew he would be mad at her for reading it but she also felt hurt that he would consider it without even telling her, but the worst part of it all was that she expected this to happen at one part or another, somehow everyone in her life eventually left her, somehow she would always end up alone, when he asked his final question she took a few moments to push all of her emotions aside, the anger, the hurt, the fear of being alone was gone when she looked back up at him and all that there was the girl who cared so deeply for the man in front of her. "That you should go" she said honestly as she met his eyes for a moment "That I'm doing nothing but holding you back here and that I know that going home would make you happier than anything and I could never stand in the way of that" she said doing her best to hold back any tears and emotion which was trying to pour out of her, she had a lot of practice with covering up her feelings, it was all she had done for years when people had asked her how she was after Kiel had died.

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon watched her, his hands were fists by his sides and his features were stern. He was angry sure, he hated that she had found the letter before he even had a chance to think it it over. Damon always thought with head, going with his heart would have gotten him killed in the war, so it was a new experience these last few years following Kiah and falling for her hard. When she spoke again he didn't expect the words that came from her lips to come. "Really?" Damon asked shocked, stunned and actually hurt. "You want me to pack my bags and leave?" He asked rounding the table which had previously been an obstacle in movement towards the blonde. He backed her up against the counter top, his eyes following her small shuffling steps back as he moved. His hands rested on the counter either side of body. He crowded against her, head tipping low as he waited for her to lift her head. "Everything we've accomplished and achieved, not just bringing the packs together, but us, as a couple and you want me to leave?" He asked his voice low as he spoke. "Do you forget that I love you? That I want you every moment of every passing day?" He asked his hand reaching up to take her chin between his forefinger and thumb. "Does that mean nothing to you?"

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah knew he would be mad, in fact she wanted him to be mad because it would make it easier for him to make the right decision, that's why she had been avoiding him, she knew it would piss him off no end, she knew that her feelings had to come second in this situation, she knew he hated it in Evermore and she hated the fact that she was the one forcing him to stay there, she however hadn't expected for him to come so close, he knew her by now, he knew ways to catch her off her guard and make her vulnerable, he had found ways of getting the truth out of her no matter how much she wanted to hide it. She took each of his sentences as a small blow as he backed her up against the counter and as she felt the counter top dig into her lower back she tilted her head to look up at him, she didn't speak over him, she just stayed quiet looking up at him, taking each of verbal jabs one by one. "I don't forget anything, I just think you're lying to yourself when you tell yourself that I'm enough for you" she spoke sternly her eyes fixed on his as she felt his fingertips against her skin. "It means everything to me which is why I'm trying to put you and your needs first" she said calmly, she wasn't afraid, she knew he'd never do anything to hurt her

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon frowned and tipped his head to the side as he watched her. He knew she was being honest, it was refreshing to hear it, even if he had to be a d*** to get it out of her and play dirty. "Kiah I wouldn't be here if you weren't enough, I wouldn't have following you thousends of miles if what I felt for you meant nothing." Damon bit out harshly. "I know you've experienced more s*** than I could ever imagine, but if you believe for one second I believe that you're doing thiss for my own good then you're very much mistaken." Damon said pushing away from her and taking a step back to given himself room ro breath. "You're pushing me away before I've even had time to think, closing yourself off because you think it's the right thing to do." Damon snapped his voice growing louder. "I'm sick of Kiah, you've barely given US a chance before you're throwing me out the door. I want you so damn much it hurts, I can our future, see everything I've only ever wanted with you ..." He took a breath and turned his eyes to hers. "But honestly I wonder if following your example would be better choice for me, I don't know how long it's been, how long I've been no more than a step behind you, and sure I hate this god awful city, but you for you I'd live in hell; but not once did I really consider taking up his offer. Sure I thought about it, seemed like a good idea; but did I think I would leave?" Damon asked biting his lip and watching her, his eyes blazing with fury. "Not once."

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah kept her eyes on him as he spoke, she could see the fury building in his eyes, she had never seen him that way before and as he pushed away from her she let out the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding and pulled herself up to standing and purposely took a step away from the counter placing her feet flat against the ground. "That's the problem" she exclaimed letting go of that emotional switch which she was trying her hardest to keep buried "You weren't even going to consider it because of me, you're going to give up every chance to be your own person in life because I have to stay here" she blinked a few times to compose herself and then looked over to him again. "You have no idea how much it kills me to know that I can't leave with you, if I could I'd leave this city in heartbeat, I'd follow you to the ends of the earth if you asked me to but we both know that I have to finish what I started here" she blew out a long breath, he was so incredibly stubborn at times, especially when it came to her. "I'm not saying that you need to leave right now, I think you'd rip my heart in two if you did that, but I think that you really need to consider what you want from life and don't tell me it's just me, I know you, I know how much working has meant to you in the past and I've stolen so much of your life already" she held her frame still to fight with her inner self which was telling her to beg him not to leave, to stay and to be her everything.

✓ Damon Ventura

"God dammit Kiah I have become my own person ever since you landed in my town and triggered the change!" He shouted fist coming down and slamming onto the table top. "It's my decision on what I do with my life and if I wanted to stay here with you then I would have done so, it was what I wanted!". Damon said turning his attention to her. "I wouldn't have regretted it one little bit Princess." Damon sighed dropping his head as he took a long deep breath. It felt like his head was flooded with every emotion possible and he was struggling to focus on one. "You've given me purpose, given my life purpose, I'm eternally thankful for it." Damon answered. "The fact that you think you've 'stolen' my life makes me feel sick and so angry because it's like you don't know me at all, know that I wouldn't do something If I didn't want to, I wouldn't have started training with the kids if I was going to leave, I wouldn't start considering a future with you which was more than just being your boyfriend or beta." Damon answered defeated. "You want me to leave so bad, then I'm gone." Damon nodded rubbing his hands over his face, scrubbing away the lone tear which had betrayed him so sinfully. Damon turned his back he couldn't look at her anymore, he had to get away, so he walked out the kitchen heading for the stairs. He might as well start packing.

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

Kiah was a flurry of emotions, her mind raced with all the should dos and what she wanted in the back of her mind, she knew only one thing, it couldn't end like and she wasn't going to let it and her words stunned her, the way he had spoken about their future like he really saw one, she had never had anyone do that for her before, no one had planned on staying around long enough to visage such a life and it scared her no end just to hear those words out in the air. As he walked away it was more than a single tear that betrayed her as the tears came streaming down her cheeks like someone had opened a flood gate, she stood there for a few moments and then wiped vigorously at her eyes seeing her makeup smudge on her hand. After a moment to gather her composure she followed him up the stairs and stood in the doorway of their room watching as he began to pack. "I didn't mean to make you think I ruined you life" she said honestly, her voice was quiet and full of emotion "I've never cared for someone as much as I do you" seeing that she wasn't making much ground she walked into the room and placed her hand over his in an attempt as he looked up at him for a few moments her expression telling the whole story of how she felt for him. "I just want you to be happy, truely happy, without compromising anything, you deserve so much" she blinked a few times and let a genuine smile cross her features "Please, just take some time to think" she wrapped her fingers around his

hand "I love you more than I know how to explain Damon, that's a feeling entirely new to me and I'm still learning how to deal with all of this emotional" she paused for a moment "stuff"

✓ Damon Ventura

Damon took the stairs two at a time crossing the landing and pushing the door open their room, hearing it slam up against the wall the other side. Damon's temper was pretty bad when he was wound up and Kiah always got to him pushing him further than he would like to admit. He dragged his duffel form under the bed and slammed it down on top of their bed. A long breath hissed out between his teeth as he took a moment, he was over reacting, he didn't want to leave, leave her; but she just kept pushing away, she couldn't accept them and if she couldn't do this now, then there was no hope for the future. He moved back and started moving back and forth between the closet and his bag, packing away whatever of his stuff he could get his hands on. He heard her come up the stairs and then stand in the door. "If you 'cared' for me or knew me at all we wouldn't be having this conversation." Damon spat, turning his burning glare towards her before he continued. "Don't." Damon growled snatching his hand away from her. He didn't trust himself not right now. He would never hurt her, but he was furious and his actions were shaky at best. "The thing is Saskiah I've always I've always been happy, never once have I regretted or felt like I was 'compromising' my life for you." Damon stood there fingers linked behind his head and his eyes closed as answered her. "I'll always love you Princess, I don't think that's ever going to change, but I can't even look at you right now." He said blowing out a quick breath and moving quickly to grab his bag. As Damon took that bag he didn't know if he'd come back, he stood there in front of her looking down on her for a moment, before leaning forward and pressing a chaste kiss to her forehead. "Give me some time Princess." Damon said stepping away from her towards the door.

✓ Saskiah Makenna Raymen

She had seen this scene playing over and over in her head, she saw it every time that she got close to anyone, she wanted to much for him to be happy but she couldn't help but feel she was hindering that, as his gentle kiss pressed against her forehead she allowed a few tears to spill from her eyes as she closed them gently and took a long a heavy breath in which time he had made his way towards the door and no doubts out of the house, she was trying to convince herself in her mind that she was doing the right thing and that she was giving him the chance to do everything he wanted do but there was also a part of her that wanted to hold on so tightly that her knuckles would turn white. As she heard the front door slam she headed to the bedroom door closing it gently and turn around to face the window and as she watched him walk along the drive away from her she squeezed her eyes shut once more sliding down the door until she was curled up in a ball at the base of the door "It's just another goodbye" she whispered to herself as she allowed her sobs to take over.
Let's Play Pretendtag:eternalcityrp.com,2015-03-27:6610746:Topic:1039412015-03-27T21:43:24.293Z✓ Cornelia Hael Bradfordhttps://eternalcityrp.com/profile/Lia
