Sibling Aftermath (Mirae and Daehyun)

Mirae  sat in the padded window sill, for moments she stared blankly towards the sky, fidgeting with the locket around her neck before letting her lead fall against the wall, closing her eyes as tears trickled down her cheeks. Sometimes it didn't seem real, t this day various memories of the day the Initia attacked their perfect community still plagued Mirae's mind, she could still hear the panic and ear piercing screams from those who weren't lucky enough to escape. She still seen the cold expression on Coldren's face when he reformed from the ashes anew, everything but his face was new.

These thoughts always led the young Niveis thinking about her bond with Anivia, the two had became extremely close, Mirae being her voice of reason. Inhaling, Mirae's thoughts now travelled to her brother, whom she at one point was ready to let go, for the sake of his own happiness. But, before Mirae could even utter the words goodbye, or that she loved him, Coldren's wicked ways overpowered any good intentions he once had, after a bade thrusted through Daehyun's chest, it was clear that they were no longer in charge of their own decision making and that Coldren would be making the decisions for them.

Mirae was furious at Coldren for taking her brother’s choice from him and instinctively drew her sword, moving to strike at the ice phoenix. Coldren however was much stronger and faster than her and it wasn’t long before she went down fighting, falling into the darkness on the icy cold snow. As punishment, Coldren forced Mirae to work in an apothocary where he sent everyone else that he wanted rid of, but it was where Mirae once more began to build her life back together from the shattered pieces that it was. Being seperated from her brother for so long however, left the young girl feeling empty, but in spite of everything she knew her brother probably stayed in good sense, and continued to fight for what he believed in.

Deciding she was done with dwelling on things she couldn't change, Mirae sauntered over to her wardrobe and quickly changed into a pair of leggings, a half sweater, and threw her hair into a messy bun before adding a leather jacket and her leather grunge boots. Library time was much needed for the girl who loved studying and learning about herbs, so that's exactly where she made her way to. It wasn't long after she arrived that Mirae felt a very familiar presence among her though, a presence that shook her very being to the core, causing her to be on edge and looking over her shoulder every other second, being her typical distracted self, unaware that she was standing in the center of one of the book isles in front of someone needing by.

Clearing her throat, Mirae blushed heavily. "Sorry. Just a bit distracted" she said in the form of a whisper, as to not distract the others who sat quietly, reading various books. Mirae then smiled, running her fingers along the marks she gained when she became a Phoenix, remembering the very day she had visited the library to read on the species before she ever knew she'd become one, to this day she had that book, and she treasured it very much. Mirae began reading different titles until her finger slid over the word "The truth behind The Eternal City". Excitedly, she pulled the book out, blowing dust from it's cover, surprised that no one had checked this book out in such a long time, Mirae was the type of person who wanted / needed to know her surroundings.

After sliding the book underneath her arm pit, covered by her leather jacket, Mirae glanced around to make sure she was in the clear to take this book home, to add with her collection of other books she had quietly snuck out of libraries in the past. On her way towards the exit, Mirae plowed right into someone and dropped the book from it's hiding place, scurrying to try to pick it up before the male in front of her could take notice to it. The presence she'd felt with her earlier however, felt so strong now that she could barely maintain, and with that, Mirae glanced up, and with her eyes full of surprise, she shook her head. "Daehyun"she said in a shattered tone, unable to swallow the painful lump now formed in her throat. Mirae closed her eyes however, breathing heavily, but assumed when she opened them again, hed be gone.

    ✓ Daehyun Stormwind

He didn’t want to leave Mirae, he only got her back. They were just reunited and the thought of leaving her so soon after that made him feel uneasy. His heart would thump rapidly just thinking about it and honestly, he knew it was only a matter of time before he succumbed to it. There was one thing that the Niveis could not deny; his sister’s pleading. The only time he ever got to say no to her pleading and wishes were when he actually turned a deaf ear and ignored her for the rest of the period. With her standing right in front of him now, it’s harder to do that. He could trace the upset on her porcelain skin, which made him sigh heavily to himself, god he hated having to give his farewells like this. “Of course you’d say that” he huffed and crossed his arms as if to show that he was not amused by her reaction. It actually made him more childish than he actually is. Appearances could deceive, indeed. He raised his eyebrows questioningly when she mentioned Rhydian, everyone knew the elder Stormwind wasn’t exactly fond of the right hand. Not by a long shot.

So he was surprised to hear her bring that guy of all people in the equation. “What do I care if he is on us. You do realize I’ll annoy the hell out of him just for the sake of it, right?” He wasn’t aware if Mirae had any other relationship with the latter. Only that Rhydian visited the apothecary frequently. “That’s right, you’re a Stormwind, you’ll never be used as a leverage, much less be treated like dirt” he reminded, he would not tolerate any less for his sister. “Don’t give me that look” he scoffed and pushed her cheek away as if to dismiss her puppy eyed look, “I’m not desperate enough to go into hiding and unless I don’t want to be found, you’ll find me easy enough. Don’t worry, that’s a small deal I can afford to promise you. Come see me whenever, sis” he chuckled and ruffled her hair. How could he tell her to not see him? He may not admit it out loud but he misses the sibling banter. When Mirae reached over to hold his hand, he let her do that and spared her a small smile to reassure her as he clasped his own hold on her tiny hands.

“You’re talking to your brother who at least has 6 ear piercings right now, sis. That’s saying something because I think my helix will be closing soon if I don’t wear any piercing. If you wanna pierce your tongue or belly button, then go for it. You’re not looking at me for permission, you never do that” he stuck out his tongue playfully in retaliation as if to remind her she wasn’t exactly a model sister. He had tribal marks on his body so his body wasn’t exactly ‘clean’ to put it, he never thought about getting any other piercings aside from his ears. Dae scrunched his nose and made a noise of complaint when she said she’s taking selfies, “You’re adapting just well, I see.” Oh he wasn’t bad at them, his work allowed him plenty of access that was related to technology and a bit of hacking here and there didn’t hurt to add to his experience.

“A puppy? What kind? Do you even have time to take care of it? No no, the better question is, are you responsible enough to take care of another living being?” he had spared a look of judgment that was something a brother would do to their younger sibling. When she asked him that, he shrugged absentmindedly, “I’ll tell my friends, the few I have, and you, and anyone I find important. I can tell you it doesn’t exceed my 10 fingers though.”

    ✓ Mirae Stormwind

Mirae was one to stick her foot in her mouth. She usually never thought before she spoke, and that typically had its consequences. Like now, where she realized how little Dae liked Rhydian. She felt bad the instant she saw his expression change. "Sorry. I forget sometimes. Or not forget, it's just more so being the talker that I am. I'm trying to work on that" she chuckled slightly. She hoped to change the vibe instantly after that. It was almost amusing though, that right after that, he promised he'd annoy the hell out of Rhydian ..just for the sake of it. "You wouldn't be Dae if you didn't" she smirked, playfully shooting him a wink. If anyone knew the calculating, sarcastic man beside her, it was Mirae herself. She knew her brother like the back of her hand, and he had his moments. "I'd never change a thing though. I really love the person you are" she smiled faintly. She had been longing for this day for such a long time. She was just happy that words seemed to flow naturally. For two siblings that'd spent such a long time separated, she feared her first time seeing him again, would be spent in silence, and awkwardness. But, the two of them had bounced back as if they'd never spent a second apart. That was the true Stormwind bond.

It warmed Mirae's heart when Daehyun promised that his sister would never settle for less or be treated like dirt. She smiled brightly and leaned over towards him, laying her hand over his. What touched her even more, even though she knew he hated more or less telling her goodbye again, was that he'd always make sure he was easy to find, so that she could come see him whenever. "Maybe that'll make it easier this time. Because honestly Dae. We just got each other back. And just like before. I would never hold you back .. you know that, but at the same time.. I don't wanna lose you again..but if I know I can visit you at least, I can try to let you go" those were probably the hardest words the younger Stormwind had ever spoken in her life. But, that's what selfless love was supposed to be like. It hurt like hell, but it's who they were as siblings.

Mirae chuckled slightly when Dae spoke of his own piercings and then told her she need not look at him for permission since she never did before. "Fair enough. I guess ill go with my belly button" it was so cliche.. but Mirae wanted to explore this world to it's fullest, and if she felt that she was accomplishing that by getting a piercing, then so be it.

The youngest Stormwind nodded some when he had commented on how she had been adapting so well. "It's not been easy, but I guess yeah.. we could say i'm adapting finally" it took hera while to feel comfortable in her own skin in this city. But, today she could honestly say she felt at home. At least for now. While on the other hand, Dae never stayed anywhere too long. He never truly adapted like Mirae did. But, somewhere along the way, Mirae began feeling like she had no other choice. Either adapt and find some peace of mind, or be miserable forever trying.

She couldn't help but snort. She knew his reaction to her wanting a puppy would be exactly what it just was. "I thought as much" she chuckled, but went on to make sure he knew that she'd be okay with a puppy. "It's not like I have experience. But, I'm willing to learn, and make the time" she just hoped she could actually pull it off. "Surely it's not as hard as raising a human being. I know animals have feelings, and need attention, and food, etc.. but .. I think I can manage that" she said in a hesitant tone. "Maybe i'll think about it first though" she added, laughing a little. Dae always pointed out the obvious. But, at least he did so with good intentions.

Mirae smiled once more when he said he'd tell her, and the few friends he had. "Well, keeping your circle small, isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm just glad i'm part of it. While the selfish part of me wants to keep you here, I'm happy you're still following your own lead. You always have done so. I can only admire the brother I have" she stated truthfully. Mirae sighed. She knew this day would soon be coming to an end, and that the moment she dreaded most would be coming with that. Their tattoo's were now complete and being cleaned with an ointment that they could take with them. After the tattoo artists explained to each of them how to properly care for new tattoo's, they were sent on their way.  Mirae had definitely quietened down, but figured she'd ask Dae.. "So, before you go, do you wanna spend the night?  I'm not sure what your exact plans are.. but if you'd like to come stay one last night, pizza's on me" she stated, smiling over to her elder brother, a hopeful look on her face as her heart raced, and waited to see where he needed to go next.

In all honesty she just wasn't ready to say goodbye. And, she was sure he knew that too.

    ✓ Daehyun Stormwind

His sister and him are quite different from each other. They had contrasting personalities, one would never have thought they were siblings at a single glance had it not been to their natural Stormwind charm. And temper, that's for sure. Despite looking dainty and gentle, he knew people should tread carefully around the presence of the younger Stormwind because if she doesn't get to you, he would. "I wouldn't be Dae if I don't do a lot of things" he exclaimed bluntly, there's little to what he wouldn't do, if anything. Dae controls every aspect in his own life, swearing to never do anything under a leash anymore after Coldren. Everything he has done for the tribe up until now is because he wanted to do it. That's the truth to it. When she said she loves the person he is, he couldn't help but scoff and shook his head, of course she would say that. He didn't expect any less.

"Then you'd realize you're actually one of the few with the privilege to like me." Whether people like him or not, the niveis does not make it easy. He knew he had to reassure her that he wasn't going far and that he would never truly abandon her. He's not good at it but he'll try, "I'm always in the reach, Mirae. You know there's no way I'd actually leave you. I always have my eyes and ears around, don't forget that. You know where to find me and how to get a hold of me." And he always checks in on her anyway. "I can't believe you're going for a belly button piercing" he snickered under his breath, it sounded like something reckless and out of the world thing she would do because she's Mirae but who was he to stop her? It wasn't as if he even wanted to do that, as long as she doesn't choose the wrong partner and get her heart broken or hurt herself, then she could do whatever the hell she wanted.

"Raising a human being might as well be easier at times" he mumbled, but that's just him. Daehyun had a job that most people wouldn't really take up unless they're a masochistic and sadistic bastard who only wanted to hurt people. Or desperate for money. But it gives him the thrill so he knew how to handle them as a whole. "I would've thought you to be more of a cat person but I guess not." Maybe he's the cat person. He could see that she wanted to spend more time with him, every effort he has seen up till now from the past few minutes were of her trying to extend the time they have. Dae couldn't say no to that. How could he say no to his only sister? "Fine, I'll stay the night." They don't know when they will get to see each other later, after all.
