Coming to this city had felt right to Freyja and yet she couldn't put her finger on why the place made her feel on edge, of course there were many different supernatural beings here, she had learned that quickly but it was more than that, like a feeling in her gut that said something bad was going to happen. Still, she couldn't leave now even if she wanted to. Her people were here and they were building a life here, albeit it a rather strange one considering they lived atop the mountains of the city but wings made quick work of getting right to the heart.

She was thinking about the city and how it was all balanced out as she sat atop a bar stool, gazing across the room. She liked people watching a lot and she was good at picking out little details which quickly told her someone was more than just mere human, she could spot a Nephilim's purplish gaze or an Initia's tribal tattoo with relative ease. Others were harder as they had no physical tells, but her natural intuition tended to tell her when to be careful. She waved down the bartender for another drink before paying and then raising the glass to her lips. It seemed like it had gotten eerily quiet in the bar which made her look up. Through the window she could see it was sunset and it was starting to get dark but other than that, nothing strange seemed to be happening.

So why did she feel this sense of worry in the pit of her stomach, she wondered, before attempting to focus on her drink. But as darkness began to set on Evermore City everything changed. She was paying no mind to anyone around her but then some asshole bumped into her as he was passing, ending up sloshing his drink all over her, which would have been fine if he apologized but instead he muttered a very mocking 'Sorry' which essentially confirmed he had done it on purpose. She frowned but tried to shrug it off but before she could process what was happening the male threw a full power punch at her which made her duck immediately before widening her eyes because while there hadn't been a crowd before, there was now and every single person seemed to be staring at her.

"We know what you are" one of them exclaimed before going for her hands which immediately made her get to her feet and into a fighting stance. She wasn't sure what triggered the sudden crazy change in atmosphere but one thing was for sure, she wasn't going to be able to get out of here without using her supernatural abilities.

Ryker had grown up for the best part of his life in Evermore, training and learning as much as he could about his kind. As he grew into a young adult, the decision to stay within the city came easy to him, he wanted to make a home there to look after his father. Despite his obligations, Ric still had a healthy social life and would go out most weekends, but being the type of angel he was, alcohol was never fully appealing to him. This time was a little different. He had come with a group of friends to celebrate her achievements but they had slowly one by one dispersed for various reasons. Some with hook-ups, others because they had work or were simply tired. The group that had started out with 6 people, dwindled down to only 2. Ryker and his best friend Eric. The club was a normal haunt for him and he usually felt comfortable here so at first he ignored the off feeling which rumbled deep within his being.

The longer he sat the worse the feeling became sparking off his senses. Ryker looked around to see how many other supernaturals were in the bar, and since his friend was included in his count he told him to go home as the sun set slowly in the sky, creating a colourful spread of reds, oranges and pinks. The idea occurred to him that he too should go home, but his impulse begged him to stay and he soon saw the reason. Across the bar a man had attempted to assault a woman seemingly minding her own business. Luckily she ducked just in time, but this was enough to bring Ric to his feet. Suddenly the realisation of what was happening hit home and his heart sunk to the pit of his stomach. Ryker looked around him, the atmosphere was palpable with hatred but even so he wasted no time putting himself between the woman and the man leading the assault.

The ebony haired male looked down to the girl behind him, she seemed capable of protecting herself but even so he wasn't going to leave someone else to get hurt, "We aren't gonna get out of here unless we work together. Got any ideas?" he spoke to her in a calm tone with only a hint of panic. Turning his gaze back to the male and around the crowd he began to apply his clairsentience to soothe the ever growing unease within the club. Aiming it especially at the attacker but it wasn't working as well as he expected and he wondered if the recent manipulation of celestial energy had anything to do with what was happening. The idea of it caused a shiver to run through out his whole body, but he stayed grounded. If they paced themselves it didn't have to rise to that. He always attempted to use peaceful means to resolve conformation before violence, but he know the more likely outcome.

Freyja had some experience with people that were afraid of the unknown, she had seen humans who discovered the truth and become frightened but this wasn’t like that, this was sudden and strange, like the whole attitude of the room had changed. It gave her this strange feeling in the pit of her stomach like something was really wrong. She’d heard about weird things happening in the city before but honestly, she thought it was maybe people overreacting to something perfectly explainable. The moment she ducked to avoid the punch she knew something strange was happening. But the words had her shocked, we know what you are. Well, that didn’t sound ominous at all.

She was looking around wondering who she could trust but everywhere she looked there were glares, as strong as she was, there was no way she could fight off an entire bar of people alone, even if they are humans. But then she heard someone speak and she furrowed her brow slightly “They know what I am, does that mean you are too” she spoke in a hushed voice, it would make sense if they were the only ones unaffected if they were the only supernatural in the place, they were the minority after all, despite how the city was run, the factions hid here within the sanctuary of a city where most of the population were oblivious and just went by with their lives, she heard it was the organization that protected the secret so carefully.

“Nothing that doesn’t end up with people getting hurt” she responded to the male, keeping her voice low as she stepped out of the way of someone else pulling in closer, it seemed like they were waiting for her to make a move and she wondered what the goal here was. Well, she figured if they knew what she was then they knew what they were up against “You know spilling that drink was probably your first mistake then” she commented under her breath looking back at the male before watching him slip on the spot because she had frozen the spilled his feet. He took that as confirmation that she was indeed the target he was looking for and lunged her for her ankles, she lost her balance for a moment grabbing out for whatever she could to stay upright.

The last thing Ryker wanted to see right now was more carnage, there had been a few freak accidents surrounding supernatural families that seemed to be stable and loving beforehand, or living in safe communities which had taken a wrong turn for unexplained reasons. The reality of it made his skin crawl, he felt helpless against something that felt so much bigger compared to him. It was an all consuming doubt that he didn't understand the world he was living in anymore. What had started as an enjoyable night out to celebrate, was quickly turning into a typical bar fight, except it seemed to be the whole crowd against two. That's not fair odds is it. Human or not. His hearing picked up the dark haired females words and he couldn't contest them, it was obvious they wouldn't be able to simply walk out of there in a peaceful way. Too late for that.

Instinctively Ryker raised his arm and caught her as she lost her balance, for a moment the chaos enfolding around them moved in slow motion as he locked eyes with her, using his strength to so she would be steady on her feet again, "Nice trick" he commented noting the spill on the floor which she had frozen. Taking the opportunity, he quickly kicked the same guys head knocking him out. It wasn't a blow that could do permanent damage, but enough to allow the pair to move forward towards the door as the rest of the bar started to stand, some attempting to envelope them, "Fuck..." he whispered as he bent down to dodge an incoming punch, "Woah...come on guys! What did I ever do to you?" he questioned as he grabbed a bottle from one of the tables and smashed it over the attackers head, "Ok...I guess that. Sorry." he shrugged rolling his eyes, throwing the rest of the glass over his shoulder, taking a moment to himself to consider the stupidity of the situation he'd found himself in. Choosing the right time to push on, he didn't want to seem overly threatening but he felt that no matter his actions, he had already been judged. Both of them had.

One after another someone blocked their path, they were severely outnumbered and the exit seemed to be a longer distance than it was before. Ric turned his head and looked back towards the woman who was close by him, the moment he lacked focus deemed to be a mistake as he felt a sharp pain echo up through his chest. His hands immediately covered the handle of the blade that was sticking out of his lower abdomen, "Ow...." he moaned, "Fuck that hurt..." he grunted the understatement, feeling his warm red lifeblood seep from his tanned skin, "Hey I liked this shirt you asshole. How am I suppose to get this blood out, never mind the rip. It's Ruined." He wasn't totally serious but the clothing that covered his back had cost him a fair amount. Without pause, Ryker grabbed the wrist of the human who had assaulted him and swiftly broke it, stumbling backwards a step. The prospect of pulling out the blade seemed daunting and he'd have to be rid of it if he wanted to heal himself and help them both get out of this god damn bar.

If there was anything the Niveis had learned from spending almost 100 years locked away, it was that you needed to be cautious and alert in all situations, it didn’t take her long to flip into a state of mind where she was ready to fight. She didn’t enjoy fighting but she was hardly a damsel in distress either. She remained on guard however she was thankful when the dark-haired male caught her when she tripped, she nodded slightly in thanks and then chuckled “Yeah, definitely helps in a pinch” she leaned quite heavily on her niveis abilities, she had never been through the part where she needed to hide what she was so she was quite a bold ice wielder and right now getting out of here was more important than keeping her supernatural secret.

She continued fighting people off as and when they came at her, she heard the shatter of the glass and quickly peered over to make sure he seemed okay before grabbing the arm of someone running at her so she could push them away, tripping them with her leg as she did so to ensure they went down “I don’t think there’s any use talking to them” she responded noting that the way people were acting was erratic and ever desperate, like there wasn’t any rationale behind their actions and they were simply following impulse “It’s like zombies” she commented as she stared at the guy she had floored earlier forcing himself back to his feet and coming back towards her, she dodged just in time to avoid his attack.

“Careful not to actual hurt anyone...I don’t think they’re in control” considering they could have a coherent conversation while everyone else in the room was frantically trying to harm them, they weren’t talking or working together. So far it had mostly been flying fists, which wasn’t so hard to avoid but then someone had grabbed a piece of glass from the broken bottle and slashed against the male. She had tried to stop it happen but it hadn’t been fast enough, with that she ran over to the bar and grabbed one of the water dispensers before yelling “Hey, get to the back” she informed him before letting the water spill out across the floor, before long she was encouraging the ice to spread and rise up, causing people’s feet to become rooted to the floor so they couldn’t move. It seemed like the least aggressive way to stop them at least temporarily so she could run over to the injured male “Is it deep?” she asked with a concerned expression.

It felt like the whole place had gone crazy and to be bluntly honest the deep-seated anger resonating within the Nephilim made his actions take on heightened violence. He didn't enjoy hurting people as his runic mark compelled him to protect over all else, but sometimes the two came hand in hand. In this instance, he was trying to protect himself and the dark-haired Nivis...Initia....one of the two. All he knew about her so far is that she could manipulate water. Ryker listened to her advice as she spoke about the Humans in front of them, thoughtlessly attacking with a relentless effort, "You're right they aren't in control, but it's very fucking obvious they don't have the same compassion about us." he said looking at her with a baffled expression, referencing her intent to cause them no harm while he had a piece of glass deeply wedged into his abdomen.

Ryker took a few steps back and leaned against the wall trying to distract himself from the pain as he watched the spectacle in front of him, she had frozen the floor so completely, rising the ice up to latch around the ankles of their assaulters. It was really quite impressive. As soon as he knew he was safe from further injuries, Ric ripped off part of the sleeve of his top and wrapped it around the glass so he wouldn't cut himself further. Raising his dark eyes to the female, he smiled against the agony, "I'm not sure, it feels....horrendous." he spoke as he attempted to pull the glass out without shattering it further. Because of the amount of blood surrounding the wound it continuously healed the edges, so any slight movement of the object would be like a small new injury, "I'll be fine, I just need to get it out."

Pushing himself up he gripped the glass again and gave one sharp tug, dropping the makeshift weapon onto the floor with a clink, the purple around his eyes glowed a little more obviously. Ryker sighed shakily as the pain he was feeling began to dissipate. He didn't have anything else to wrap the injury up. Wiping his hands on his jeans he stood up, catching his breath, "I never asked you what your name was. You can call me Ryker." it probably wasn't the time for niceties but she may be the last friendly face he sees. Ryker shot a gentle smile towards her before he turned his gaze on the humans still frozen in place, "How long does that trick last?" he motioned looking around to see if any of the windows were big enough for them to escape through, "I could manipulate their minds so they don't even see us." he responded, but he knew he wouldn't be able to hold it for long. If it was up to him he would have killed them all by now. It was against his nature, but his mind had become so blackened with vengeance, he got lost in it at times.

Freyja, whether she liked it or not, was a natural-born leader for her kind and with that title came a great responsibility to be upstanding and make the right decisions. She didn’t want to be the kind of leader that the man who locked her up for 100 years was. “True...aim to wound not to kill, enough to keep them down” these people were going to wake up later having no idea what they did or why. She was sure that was traumatizing enough for them without adding any long term injuries they may never recover from. Still, they did need to protect themselves and ensure they made it out of here alive too.

She winced slightly as she came close to him, noting that the glass had cut into his chest deep enough to make quite the gash “It looks pretty bad…” she spoke softly, Freyja had learned a little about first aid when she had been training to take over leadership of her phoenix tribe. Of course back then all they had was bandages and very little else in terms of medicine but the concepts were the same “You need something to bind that wound” she commented thoughtfully before she headed over to one of the passed out figures and grabbed his jacket, tugging it off before taking it and offering it to the injured male “Can you walk?” she asked as she waited, they needed to get out of here but there was no guarantee it was safe out there either.

She was watching cautiously while trying to ignore the yelling coming from the crowd of people she had literally frozen to the floor, it seemed like they didn’t appreciate her innovative thinking “Freyja” she responded to his introduction “I’d say nice to meet you if the circumstances were different” she had no idea what was happening but she had read about strange things happening in Evermore and she had to wonder if this was what people were talking about. “So it’s safe to say we’re not affected because we’re not human right?” she asked him directly looking back at him, she wasn’t an expert in supernatural tells. “Just about as long as we’re going to need to make it out that door” she pointed to the door on the other side of the room, the back of the place no doubt had more people in it they wouldn’t want to run into. “Think we should make a run for it?” they were probably going to be followed but it seemed safer out there than in here at this point.
