The weather had decided to take a turn for the worst in Evermore city, the temperature dropped every day and people having to wear more and more layers to brave the cold outside as the winter took it's grip over everything. Argent wasn't the biggest fan of the cold and so she found herself dressed in a sweater and jeans with extra socks on as she wandered through the halls of the Ailward mansion. For the most part the place was pretty empty with many guards having been sent off on missions or spending their time shopping for the holidays. Argent was starting to realize she needed to get out more having spent the past 5 days cooped up in the mansion avoiding the cold and rain outside.

Today however wouldn't be the day she broke her streak as she wandered into one of the many different storage rooms in the manor. Argent enjoyed exploring all of the different things people kept in these rooms, especially because it felt like the inventory changed every day, guards and aspects alike dropping off the different things that took up too much space in their rooms or they no longer had any need for. It was in here that she had found her first book on mixology and many other inspirations for new hobbies and ways to while the hours away.

She was distracted as she moved through the different shelves moving things around to see if anything of interest stood out to her. There were many different boxes lined up on one of them, all different shapes, sizes and colors that fascinated, she started to open each one curious to see what was inside. In one she found some antique looking jewelry that she was pretty sure one of her sisters would have left. Argent however heard the sound of the door open as she opened the final box on the shelf and a bright cloud of smoke started escaping from the now opened container.

Without giving her so much as time to run or really react Argent felt the smoke fill up her lungs causing her to erupt in a loud fit of coughing, the smoke felt like it burned in her lungs and she was busy panicking internally in her mind as she wondered what magic she had just unleashed from this particular box but she didn't have long to process it as she felt her body start to shut down around her and her knees gave out from under her. She reached out to grab onto one of the shelves as she fell trying to keep herself from hitting her head as she felt herself give over to the darkness that seemed to be surrounding her from all directions.

A relieved and shaky breath passed through his lips as he saw Argent wake. Dominic rocked back on his heels and stood up, sitting on the edge of the bed next to her. He chuckled softly at her slight gripe with having to wake up with the migraine he'd been sporting earlier for having had more than her smaller frame could handle when it came to the amount of alcohol he was used to consuming. "Sorry, Red." His eyes followed Malva as she walked off and returned with a small bottle that she offered her sister. The therian shook his head and pointed to the vial as it passed hands. "Remind me to come to you when I'm on a binge, Mim. That seems much easier on my liver than half a bottle of painkillers and I also don't have to swallow the most disgusting of concocted potions from elderly diviners and their evil cats."

As Malva looked down to the pair and asked where they'd been all day, he glanced back to Argent for a moment before raising his hues to the diviner. "Well, after you weren't answering we tried the diviner shop you frequent where said evil cat was that tried to kill me thinking you might have gone there to get the rest of the ingredients you needed for the spell you had me go back to Washington for. The shopkeeper said you'd been by to pick up a few things, but there was a rare item on the list. A scale. Said they sell it down at the black market." Dominic waved his hand as indication of time passing and spoke with a hint of sarcasm, as if they hadn't been through a crazy ordeal. "Fast forward to us there, an auction, running for our lives, lots of irritating diviners, cursed object.. blah blah. No big deal."

His tone became a little more serious then while he stood up and crossed his arms over his chest. "Listen, I know I'm not really one to pry into your business. I've been your errand guy for a little while now because of the people I know through Evermore in the not so legal areas where you can find some of the most rare and dangerous things around. I've been fine with it. I'll pretty much do anything you guys ask of me, as always." Dom shifted his weight and held Malva's gaze while trying to be as delicate as possible. "We've noticed you pulling away from everyone. The things you're asking me to get are for some heavy magic and again, I don't want to air out your business and what's been going on with your personal life. I know that's something you'd rather do with Argent than me. I just want to make sure I'm not helping you get these things and it's enabling you down some dark path."

He thought back to what they'd learned today and how it related to the strange occurrences happening around the city and what it meant to the Ailwards' next moves. "Not being able to figure out what's been going on lately in Evermore has been more than frustrating, believe me, I get it. We just don't want to see you take too much on yourself."

Dom turned to Argent and leaned down to give her a boisterous kiss on the top of her head. "Next time you wanna play around in the supply room, don't," he teased and then walked passed Malva, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Anything you need, I'm still there, okay?" The therian backpeddled towards the door and winked at the sisters. "I'm off to bed for an undisclosed amount of time. If the world starts ending, just let me sleep through it and call on one of the others." Saluting them, he made his exit for some much needed rest.

Argent blinked a few times groggily before taking the vial that Mal gave her, eyeing it suspiciously before she finally opened it and drank it down. She pulled a face and shook her head slightly “Does it have to always be so bitter?” she commented but the effects couldn’t be argued with, she already feel it beginning to sooth her headache. “I think I’m going to steer clear of magic for a while” she commented as she gave Mal a look which basically questioned how she managed to stay sane when she was in the middle of this madness.

Argent stayed quiet, giving a guilty expression whilst Dom explained their adventures, it had been quite the day for them, running around the city, going into places they shouldn’t, almost getting thrown in a supernatural prison. It was going to be a story for the ages she was sure, that was, if they would ever admit that they’d actually swapped bodies to anyone else. Her expression softened as she noted the concern Dom was holding for Mal in his voice. She was worried about Mal too and the lengths she might be turning to, in order to protect their people and to get her magic back. “What he means to say is that we’re worried about you” she spoke softly as she gazed over to the dark-haired aspect and offered a small, sad smile.

She nodded in agreement as she looked back at Dom, this had started a seemingly harmless spell but the places it brought them to were definitely not so harmless, she had seen more of the darker parts of this city than she ever wanted to see and honestly, she wasn’t sure how she was ever going to forget it. She had to laugh when Dom pressed a kiss to her head only to warn her to never go in the store cupboard again “Don’t worry, that lesson is definitely going to stick” she couldn’t say she was in a rush to be going to black market again. She watched as Dom headed for the door shaking her head in amusement “Enjoy your cat nap” she responded with a wry smile, looking over at Mal before she headed for the door. “I’ll be up around dawn, if you wanna talk” she hoped she did because it wasn’t healthy for Mal to keep everything buried like this.
