Perhaps it had not been such a great idea for Lavinia to get into a heated debate about gypsy traditions at that local bar in Germany but she couldn't have helped it. She couldn't really recall how she had gotten into that topic but if the state of her debater was anything to judge by, it hadn't been a good idea. especially after her remark of 'maybe you just don't know things'- a mistake indeed to say that to a very drunk and very angry hulk of a guy, but the next thing she knew, he had attempted to take a swing in her direction only to be blocked by a man. And so the fight started...

Lavinia had been stunned to see the way the stranger handled the drunk hulk and others who decided it was a fine time to test their prowess and by the time it was all done, she couldn't let her protector walk away without atleast buying him a drink or two and knowing his identity. 'Ares, the god of war' he had called himself, his expression both earnest and mischievous and while on any other night, she'd had laughed off the title, the way this man had fought had indeed seemed, as strange as it were for her to confess, somewhat beyond human. Their interaction shouldn't have gone beyond the drinks, but the night was young and spirits were high and a sense of 'you live only once' permeated the air.

It should have been a fling only, nine months later as she held her son in her arms, she knew it had been way more, had changed her life infact, though for better or for worse she couldn't really say. She had tried to contact Ares but with very little success and finally resolving to take care of the baby by herself, she left the news with the bartender if Ares was to ever come to the bar again.

Seeing as her boy was a splitting image of his father, naming him Ares Jr was the most natural thing, though his nickname AJ was more popular with those who knew him. It was rather evident from that start that AJ was a special child leading Lavinia to be convinced that his father had not been a human, although she really didn't know how to make more sense of the situation or even explain it to AJ.

AJ grew up without his dad, his mother trying the best she could as a human to raise him. Lavinia being a gypsy woman, a healer, travelled around a lot to help those around them. The nomadic lifestyle imprinting on AJ at a young age, he never had many friends because of it and usually kept to himself if he found he and his mother stayed in one place longer than another. He found he always had a natural healing touch but never really understood it and his mother always told him it was because his dad was a  sort of demigod. Though he still didn't believe it. When he was 16 his mother was diagnosed with cancer and though they both knew he could heal her she wouldn't let him. For days he pleaded and fought for her to let him help her, but for Lavinia, her work was done and AJ was old enough to take on the world. She actually told him she would never forgive him if he did. Though that ate away at him he obeyed and respected his mother's last wishes, never forgiving himself once she was gone.

He fended for himself after that searching for answers on who he was, what he was. He spoke to other gypsies who knew of the supernatural researching the abilities he knew he had. Eventually, months before his 18th birthday, he decided to travel back to Germany all the way to the bar where his mother had met his father. There he encountered an older man who seemed stunned on seeing him and after spending some time talking to him, decided to take AJ under his wing.

He brought him to the a place he called his dojo and began helping AJ train with the weapons there while simultaneously educating him on his identity as a Dhampir. For two years AJ stayed with the old man learning about runes and the history and finally felt he belonged somewhere. Just days short of his eighteenth birthday, the old man announced that they'd have his weapon training ceremony in Morocco rather than Germany.

The day of the ceremony was finally there and it was just AJ, the old man and few others participating in the small ceremony. AJ tried many weapons but nothing called out to him. He was almost in despair, thinking perhaps the old man had been mistaken in his identity when he picked up the Bo staff, a rather unconventional weapon and immediately the runes appeared glowing a beautiful gunmetal colour.

It was there that the old man revealed himself to his grandfather, stating that his father too had the same weapon. AJ shocked by the revelation couldn't say a word, standing alone at the dojo, but when he went to find his grandfather again for more explanation, he found a letter from the old man wishing him well for his future. The next couple of years were spent in roaming around the globe and simply trying to find himself before he heard of a place called Evermore. Landing here, it finally seemed to AJ that he had found something like a home.

AJ leads a pretty normal life in the faction training with the other members. He is still nomadic in nature, though he's attempting to come away from his tendency of just leaving without a word. Being around others like him helps him learn more about himself and the world of weapons and runes thought a part of him that desires to know more about his father is also fully aware he'll perhaps always be the "black sheep" or the "awkward little brother" who couldn't quite fit in
