BIOGRAPHY

On a warm summers night in 853AD, Rollo Stiofán Kovacs was born to an enthusiastic pair in a small village filled with hustle and bustle. He was a bright child, but this mark was labelled as a birth scar by his parents, so the true nature of the boy was hidden from him. Stiofáns father was an upholsterer, and his mother a seamstress. Their work was renown and in high demand brought them plenty of wealth. The child considered himself considerably blessed and did not wish for anything more of life. His mother Amelia was always kind and a great help in times of despair. His father James was wise and taught little Rollo many useful skills to survive but had a strict undertone which formed the boy well. In addition to a supportive, hard-working pair of parents, Rollo had a baby sister named Artemis. It was an accurate name for the little girl, as growing up, she loved nothing more than spending time in nature. Planting flowers, watering dying plants and cultivating.

Unlike Rollo, Artemis and his parents were Instar Diviners. A middle-class family, who actually raised him well. His little sister often commented on his eyes, which were similar to the Scandinavian Northern Lights. Artemis was a curious child and wished her deep blue hues reflected like his. But Stiofán made an effort to compare hers to the vast oceans they lived from, even if she never seemed sad about it.

Over the years the family saw little hardship, but that was not to last. It was the middle of Autumn, the last green leaves clinging on to their wooden perches with stubbornness when an unknown lady called to their home. She had approached his mother to commission a dress for her, and when it was ready, Amelia sent her teenage son on a long trek to the prestigious manor house. The snow had begun to fall against the hard ground before Rollo managed to find his way home, leaving a trail of carnage in his wake. His maker had turned him without conscience into a creature of living darkness, always to avail of the shadows. He was, brutally abandoned to his own fate as she had left without a single trace. Rollo hunger felt like it would never subside, but with his families combined powers, he was able to manage his new way of living. This disease he knew he would eternally be bound to didn’t feel as heavy as it once hand and he was able to continue on among the humans, as long as he wore the trinkets his mother and father had made him.

As winter ended and spring arrived, Stiofán tried drilling his sister on different ways to stay out of trouble. Finally, the Sunday before they were to attend school arrived. She was intelligent beyond her years and so had been promoted forward at a young age. That's when she told her big brother that she was happy that she could live her life knowing that he would always be there to protect her. She would never have to go a day without him. And that made Rollo heart light with love and confidence.

Stiofán and Artemis wokeup the next morning and walked the short distance. The school days passed as normal; the Kovacs children tried their best to stay out of trouble. Especially Rollo with his thirst. If his emotions got ahead of him, he would show obvious signs of his condition. One of the people who caused this effect on him was Lucas. An ebony haired male with hollow green eyes, and a terrible appetite for violence. Specifically, a target set to on Marcus' younger sister, who was a beautiful sandy-haired girl with swarthy skin. This gave her older brother great discomfort and the drive to learn outside of school. He tried informing school staff, and local authorities about the threats that Lucas was making against his little sister. He honed his abilities to protect his family as he grew into adulthood. While the Kovacs male excelled in education, he soared higher in physical combat. Even though combat was not a required course, for him, he felt that it helped with his self-control. How to use his speed and strength without being overly detectable.

Having almost completed their years of education, Rollo was elevated to escape the confines of his classes. As normal he waited outside the school gates for his sister, but Artemis never arrived to walk home with him. Waiting is something he'd always hated. They were lucky enough that their classes, even while focusing on different subjects, were in the same buildings. So he always kept an eye on her coming in and out. However, last class, she was stuck in a building across campus. Growing anxious, Rollo frantically searched the entire school near out of breath and on the verge of tears. He shouted her name and felt himself becoming so frantic that he felt his world colliding. His chest had an invisible storm washing through his chest and he couldn't breathe. Dizzy with fear, he spotted Lucas, smirking as he leaned against a stone pillar. It took all the practised control in him to refrain from ripping the males' throat out.

Rollo demanded to know where Artemis was. The young boys engaged in a bloody fight in the school's courtyard which left Lucas an injured mess on the dirty ground, but even though the blood he spit an equally disgusting remark, "I gave her everything a man could give. Then left her to rot." The academy suspended Kovacs for starting a fight. So he took the opportunity of spending the first 12 days searching for his sister. His parents were destroyed and losing hope quickly, but he continuously reassured them he would find her. Dead or Alive.

On the thirteenth day, Stiofán was walking along a creek with a heavy heart. He'd failed to protect his sister even with all of his abilities and he couldn't fathom why the town was defending Lucas. "There's no proof-" he scowled and kicked a dead log, shattering it to pieces. "There's plenty fucking proof!" He fell to his knees in tears and stayed there for hours. That's when he ears heard the sound of a man's voice and a young girl crying. He didn't expect it to be his sister, but he felt that if he could do something, he should.

He chased after the voices and what he discovered was everything he wanted, but heartbreakingly all of his fears he wished would never happen. Tied to a tree was his sister. The young male ran to untie her from her bindings. Looking over her smaller body to see if she had sustained any serious injuries. Once accessing that his sister was in fact safe, he told her to hide and not return until he came to fetch her. Taking the short amount of time, he shielded himself within the Forest and awaited the person who had stolen Artemis. Maybe he was wrong to accuse Lucas after all, but it didn't make sense for it not to be him. And he was right

Moments later Luc appeared from the shrubs, Rollo could not contain himself so he attacked the bastard. The fight was a test of physical skill, oddly he noticed he was losing. How was that possible The thought cut out when Lucas wrapped a silver chain around Stiofáns neck. The metal burned as if it was heated. Screaming in agony, his eyes turned dark, fuelled solely by rage the men tore each other to shreds, but as the tall ebony haired male made an attempt to dig his sharp finger nails into Rollos eye sockets, he searched along the ground for a large enough branch, shoving it through Lucs neck with blunt force causing the man to fall dead in his arms. Taking a moment to collect himself he cleared the blood from his eyes that he realised what he'd done to protect her.

Looking around him for anyone nearby, Rollo lifted the body and used the ropes he had bound his sister with to make it look as if the young man had intentionally tried several times to take his own life, eventually hanging himself, on the same hawthorn tree. Calling out his sisters name, he found her still frozen in place at the spot she had chosen to hide. Rollo told her what had happened and pleaded for her forgiveness and secrecy over and over as he held on to her. Despite his sister forgiving him and thanking him  and promising to keep his secret until her death, he could never find it to forgive himself.

He lifted a few of the sticks around and packed them into her bag, lifting her up into his strong arms he carried her home to his parents. While his family completely understood the battle their children faced, the Kovacs male knew his life was over and he left the village soon after, with his sister in toe and they travelled the world together. He could not stay in the place which reminded him so much of the "evil" deed he had committed to saving his Artemis.

What haunted him wasn't the life he stole, but the change he saw in his sister. She was no longer herself. She no longer enjoyed nature. She didn't smile the same. It wasn't until her 18th birthday that she told him everything that was done to her during those 12 days that she was missing. Stiofán wanted to turn her, so she could live out the rest of eternity side by side. Throughout the centuries they travelled the world, watching it change gradually for better and for worse. The siblings spent lifetimes apart and lifetimes together. Each one bringing a whole new aspect to the pair's dynamic. However, Rollo was the only one to settle in Evermore. Finding the Valkyr faction, he adapted to live among them.
