Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.

Henri could feel the sounds the leaves are making with every step he took, how couldn't he? When the night has already set it and the moon was taunting him from above because even it knows and he knows, he couldn't do anything about this. His hazel hues stared at the moon as he continued to go on with his journey, he has been trying to get to the mountaintops since yesterday but it wasn't an easy feat when not everyone would take it lightly for a whole snow tiger to walk around in the middle of the day. There shouldn't even be a snow tiger here in Evermore. Not that it is a real one, but he is as real as it can be. The only difference between him and an actual snow tiger was that he doesn't pounce and tackle humans for his prey, one, because he knows better. Two, human meat doesn't fit his diet. Kidding. His white fur had been covered by snow and the mountaintops should be a nice enough place for him to settle for a while because he needed to stay off sight. He's been sighing heavily for a while now, he couldn't remember what happened.

Only that a few nights ago after he transformed into his ailuranthrope form to do his perimeter run every week around the borders of Evermore to see if there was anything new or out of the ordinary because there hasn't been a shortage in the Evermore General to stop accepting patients because a lot kept being admitted. At this point, he knew they would be more short staffed than they already were. Something was going on and he was going to check if it was anything done near the borders that separated any ties or deals done in the name of peace for Evermore. He couldn't find anything weird that night so he came back to the manor using the woods as a shortcut but realized he couldn't morph back into his human form. His chances to revert back to human had been the only thing that's been stuck in his head for days and he couldn't exactly walk into the diviner territory demanding for a diviner. He's a freaking tiger.

Henri initially had a bag filled with his clothes with him since he would be needing clothes once he turns back per usual but since he's stuck in this form, he's been dragging it with him by having it hung around his mouth as he trudged through the woods. Unfortunately, while he was walking towards the mountaintops, the grounds were a bit slippery and it had resulted the therian to stumble on his steps and rolled down. A whimper escaped him when his body hits the tree, but that wasn't his main concern now. His bag was nowhere to be found. It must've dropped somewhere when he fell. Goddammit. With no energy left he could spare just to find his bag, Henri was left to choose whether he would continue to use the remaining energy to settle in somewhere there even though there's a risk of Niveis finding him or he could continue his journey by rerouting them to somewhere he could search for help. He can't return to the manor in this state, for sure. In the end, Henri chose the latter.

It was better to find solutions instead of hiding. So he made sure to go back to the city using routes not many would use, the woods provided good access thankfully and after a while of walking, he came across a shop that was still open. That wasn't what caught his interest, it's the antiques put up on display. People who own places like this usually ends up being a diviner so for once after a while, Henri's eyes lit up and rushed to the entrance door, nudging his head against the doorknob. Stupid paws. Fortunately, the only light there was a lamp post not far from where he's at. It was quite late so no one would come. Please, he pleaded, open up.

If there was one thing Kal had learned about opening a shop in Evermore city, it was that pawnshops with interesting things in the window tended to draw in random people to the store in the strangest of ways. In the space of a few months, he’d had a girl who wanted to know why he had a sword that belonged to her late father, plenty of drop-ins from the Niveis of his tribe on Unyak and a pirate who ransacked the place in search of anything from the shipwreck that turned him into a Niveis. So by now he was used to people showing up out of the blue, he figured most people thought he was probably Diviner because of the items he stocked and really he may as well be because he owned enough mystical objects in the store that he actually could do some magic, he had also learned a lot about what you could do with herbal remedies which countered magic. You could say he was well versed in magic and how to face it by now.

It had been a really quiet day in the shop so he had cleaned up and closed shop early before heading up to make dinner and eventually falling asleep quite early on. Often Kal would be up late sorting through new stock or researching interesting things that had been brought in to understand their worth so it was rare for him to get an early night. He was sleeping soundly, his cat sleeping against the pillow next to him when he was stirred away by the sound of tapping. It had been really windy lately so he assumed at first it was just the wind sweeping something against the windows but then it happened again. He grumbled turning over and trying to block it out but now he was awake and could hear how it sounded more rhythmic than the wind. No, this was purposeful. He groaned before pushing himself to his feet, he was dressed in pajamas because he’d gotten used to these interruptions that it just seemed easier to already be dressed for it.

He was cautious as he headed down the stairs and into the ground floor where the store was located and crept through to the showroom, he stared at the door unable to see anything there at first but then he lowered his gaze and saw none other than a snow tiger standing there as though it was expecting to be let in. His initial reaction was to let his jaw go slack in shock of what he was seeing. If he was an average human he probably would have immediately called the police too but Kal was versed enough in the Supernatural world to recognize the chances of an actual snow tiger knocking on the door was very unlikely. Which meant this guy was actually an Ailuaranthrope and it seemed like he was asking for help. He debated his options for a moment, wondering what might happen if the very small chance he was wrong turned out to be the case but he decided to risk it, heading slowly towards the door and then unlocking it and pulling it open.

He kept his hands up in front of him in case he needed to call upon his ice powers to halt him in his place as he moved back slowly, his expression curious about what was happening, though he took it as a good sign that he didn’t immediately lunge for him or anything like that “Are you lost?” he asked hesitantly wondering why a therianthrope would be wandering the city as their animal form rather than their human one. Perhaps something was wrong? If they thought he was Diviner then maybe they thought he could help.

The entire time he's been pawing against the door handle, all Henri could think of were the endless possibilities he may face as soon as the person unlocks the door. Were they all good? He had thought that there were about 90% chance of possibility for the owner to come checking what was causing all the ruckus. But... one of them was him doubting the owner would unlock the front door just because he saw a tiger who seemed to ask for an entrance. Why? Because he's a tiger. Who in their right mind would do that… for a tiger? Be realistic, Henri, he reminded himself. But right now, that was all that he could do. Returning to the manor in such a state while worrying them, nope, that's not about to happen. Not when Ven just recently got off the rails and Henri was supposed to supervise him. Not that he would do anything reckless but a drunk person can do plenty of questionable things, indeed.

The moment he saw a male's silhouette from inside, his eyes lit up in desperation, please come here, he whined. Please help him. The nearer the steps took the male, the more his heart started to bloom in hopes that he may be able to help him. Or at least, offer him sanctuary for a brief while. A sighting for a snow tiger in the middle of the roads of Evermore is not something he wanted to be in Evermore Daily. The door was unlocked with a click and Henri slowly allowed himself in, his tail wagging instinctively as he stared at the male down. Is it a familiar face? Unfortunately, he couldn't recall. When asked if he is lost, he quickly nodded and whimpered, as if to say yes. He glanced back to the outside before returning his gaze to the male with pitiful eyes. He wouldn't stop wandering them all over the place, there were so many antiquities, he was so certain he is a Diviner. But he doesn't smell like one… could he be mistaken? A frustrated and annoyed growl escaped him softly as he bumped against the coat stand, causing the hats and coats to fall on him.

Of all the things he expected to come downstairs to in the shop, he had to admit he wasn’t expecting to see a big cat pawing at his door. Now Kal had seen some very strange things in his years thanks to the items he collected and the type of crowd that drew in but this definitely had to top the list. Sometimes he wondered if he was just cursed not to have a single month without some kind of dramatic happening overnight. He sighed as he went to open the door and then stepped back, keeping his hands up defensively as he tried to assess the situation he was now in. Well much to his relief the tiger seemed civil enough with its movements and reactions to confirm is suspicion that this was indeed a therianthrope and not an actual wild animal, of course that made more logical sense when you thought about it but he wasn’t really thinking all that logically when they were in the middle of the city.

Kal kinda stood there looking a little lost for a while as he stared at the tiger, but when he responded to his question with a nod and whimper the Niveis definitely knew there was a person there. He bit his lip for a moment, hesitantly moving across the room while talking out loud so he wouldn’t freak out whoever it was “I’m not a Diviner so I’m now sure how much I’ll be able to help but you’re safe here, don’t worry” he assured him only to turn and see him knocking over the coat stand and getting covered in clothing. He couldn’t stop himself chuckling as he playfully reprimanded the male “Watch your paws, this shop is designed for humans, not tigers” he was searching through the objects until he found what he was looking for, or two things rather, the first was a looking glass which was said to be spelled to allow someone to see through magic, he’d used it a few times and it had always shown him something different.

The second he wasn’t sure was going to work as it was much older, originally owned by one of the assistants to Cleopatra back when she reigned supposedly, it was supposed to allow people to communicate with animals and while he had never managed to get it to work every time he used it on his cat, he had to wonder if perhaps it wasn’t your standard animal it was used on. He pressed his lips together as he came closer towards him and held up the eyeglass while looking though it at him. Sure enough, he could see the shape of a person lit up inside of the tiger’s frame which was enough to confirm he was right, this was a therianthrope. He then hesitated before putting on the necklace, this one he wasn’t sure would work but he had to try “Okay, say something” he instructed hoping he would now be able to understand him.

A part of him was wondering if this was the right place to be at. One, he had no idea if this guy was a diviner or not. Two, to keep himself in somewhere confined sometimes messes with his claustrophobia and anxiety but in his tiger form, he was able to control it slightly better. Keyword; slightly. It doesn’t confirm anything; it doesn’t confirm that he would not freak out and probably bump himself into everything in the store that really looked to be quite priceless and precious. It is a pawn shop, after all. Lots of valuables were stored there, he could see it. Henri could see the exhaustion on the male’s face, the one who allowed him in, who he had also presumed to be the owner of the place judging from the way he was acting.

His hazel hues never left the male even when he moved to the side of the room, he stood still on the ground and whined a bit when the coats fell on him but other than that, he was behaving pretty well. He had to admit though, upon finding out that this guy wasn’t a diviner, he frowned and a small whine escaped him because he was discouraged, how was he going to get out of this situation then? But at least the other male assured him he was safe there. He could take his word, right? When he was chastised and reprimanded to keep his paws to himself, he whined in response, as if to say it wasn’t his intention and it wasn’t his fault he was large. God, he wanted to speak so bad. He stepped back a few steps in apprehension when the male came back with a necklace, who knows what that was?

If he’s learned anything while being a Guard all these centuries, it was that you should never play around magic you don’t know and he doesn’t intend to do that. But what choice does he have other than to let whoever this guy was to help him? So he halted and allowed him to put on the necklace around him, looking at him weirdly when he was told to say something, “It’s stuffy in here.” Of course, that’s what he’d say. “Sorry for the coats but it’s hard to move around when you’re a big ass animal-” His eyes widened only after he realized he was talking, his voice was being heard, “Holy-”

Well at the very least tonight he would able to figure out if some of these mystical objects he owned were real or fake, though trying to figure out how to communicate with a tiger was definitely testing the limits of his knowledge. Kal had a Diviner friend who he often asked for help figuring out what was what when it was brought into the shop, a lot of people sold him fakes and unfortunately without much to go on, he had made a few losses on those items. But then there were others which actually turned out pretty useful. He could see the hesitance in the other male as he held up the necklace but he kept calm as he approached him slowly, he was definitely glad at this point he wasn’t facing a real tiger.

He took a deep breath as he affixed the mystical piece of jewelry and widened his eyes when it started glowing once it had been clasped, he was sure that was a good sign but he still had no idea how it actually worked but it seemed the tiger had been trying to communicate all this time and this was supposed to help with that. The very first words he heard both made the Niveis laugh and then widen his eyes in shock because he was actually communicating with a tiger and this was weird as hell “Don’t worry about the coats, just try and avoid the glass if you can” he spoke it softly almost having to double-take because damn this was a weird situation he found himself in right now.

He cleared his throat for a moment, shaking off the strangeness of it all to ask a relevant question about why he had a snow tiger visiting his shop this very everything “I’m going to guess since we can talk that you’re a therianthrope?” he almost didn’t sound sure even though he was certain the alternatives were much less likely “Are you uh….” he didn’t know how to phrase it “Stuck like this?” he wondered out loud as he stared back at the big cat, completely weirded out by the fact he was talking to him.

Perhaps the first step into going through this seemingly permanent transformation rule, is not to trust strangers. Especially strangers who would put stuff on you, like what this guy is currently doing. But what choice did he have, anyway? Other than to comply? Technically, he did come here for help and if this man was able to help him in any way, then Henri was all for it. Something is better than nothing. And he wasn't about to stay in this form forever without finding a solution to regain his human self back. This was one of the times when Henri really wished that he could revert back without complaining. God, he will never complain about the clothes ever again. Did he trust him? Not fully. But enough to trust him to put the necklace around him. It felt slightly snug around his fur, but it fits just right.

When he realized that he was actually talking to the Niveis, he gaped and wanted to cover his mouth but totally forgot his hand is now a paw so it made him look like a tiger who was in awe. Because honestly, he was in awe. The laugh elicited from the other male confirmed that he did talk. "Well, this was cool. Incredibly weird and creepy as hell but what did I expect from a mystical object... " During his service in the Guard, he has come across plenty. When he told him to avoid the glass, the therian nodded, he'll avoid those. When he asked if he was a therianthrope, Henri, once again, nodded in affirmation, "Ailuranthrope to be exact. That's why you're encountering a whole snow tiger right now." And god was it really stuffy in here. He's never thought that being in this form would ever annoy him but right now it was doing that.

Henri placed his paws on the floor and sat down comfortably, if he was going to have a whole conversation with this guy, the least he could do is make sure he's comfortable doing so. "Something like that… I was out for patrolling and suddenly I can't revert back to my human form… no matter how many times I tried." It was then he realized they had no idea who the other was. At least, not the names. "I'm Henri, by the way. Thanks for… Uh, not locking me out when I came earlier… that would've been embarrassing." He tilted his head to the side and cleared his throat, "I'm taking that… you're not a Diviner?"

Kal had to admit he had never seen an expression of shock on a tiger before but it was priceless seeing the other male respond to the ability to talk in his big cat form and he had to hold in a laugh because of how strange this whole thing was “Well when the guy said it let you talk to animals I guess he wasn’t technically lying” though it only worked on animals who weren’t actually animals “Well I have to admit I’m quite glad you’re not a real tiger because that would have been a whole mess” he noticed the way the other male was pacing like he was bothered by something though “Is it too hot in here for you? I can cool it down pretty quick” given that he was a Niveis he should like being in the cold but he guessed that was another thing he didn’t have in common with his kind.

Now that the general panic about having a big cat in the room was over he headed towards the entrance door and closed it before he took a seat up on the shop counter while watching the other male curiously “That’s weird, don’t you normally have full control over your turns?” he pressed his lips together “I mean you’re still you in there clearly because you’re not trying to eat me” he laughed under his breath crossing one leg over the other while they talked “Kaldre” he responded to his greeting with a slow nod of his head “And you’re welcome, I’ve had some interesting late-night visits to the shop over the last year but I think a talking tiger tops it” which felt like a completely insane thing to say and yet made absolute sense in Evermore.

“No” he responded when the other male asked him if he was a Diviner “But that doesn’t mean I can’t be of help, I may as well be an honorary one with the number of mystical objects people bring here” he hopped off the counter to inspect the other male for a moment “Do you have any leads on the cause? Have you been feeling any different than usual? Did you come into contact with any strange substances” perhaps if they could isolate the cause they could figure out how to release the blocker preventing him from shifting back.

He had to admit, talking in this form was actually very awkward, even for him, he's never thought about having to communicate while he's in his form but today has proven that he may need to take precautions later on. How was it possible for him to be stuck in his form? Did someone curse him or something? So many questions yet so little time to search it out, but the male in front of him has tried to help him so far, it means he's trustworthy, right? Albeit a man he still has yet to know the name or identity of, but still, he couldn't expect him to entertain him while he's in this form. "I'm either really offended that you would call me an animal when I'm indeed an actual person inside this form or I'm amused by the fact that you think such trinket wouldn't work when we live in a world filled with supernatural here and there" he mused coolly, well, at least it worked, he could talk now. That would make things so much easier.

He chuckled when the other male said he was relieved he wasn't a real tiger, "A real one would've eaten you for his late night supper. Fortunately, we famished as I am right now, human flesh is the least on my menu." Now that he's said it, he realized with a coat of fur covering his body, he wouldn't feel as cold even if it was snowing heavily elsewhere but yes, he did feel a bit heavy on the downside of being in a warm place, "That would be very much appreciated, thank you. But… how would you do that?" It didn't occur to Henri that Kal may be a Water Initia, or a Niveis, though he still has yet to meet the latter living far from the mountain tops. When asked about whether he had full control on when he turns, he nodded and sighed heavily, "That seems to be the problem. I shifted to check the perimeters… when I tried to revert back to my human form, it wouldn't follow. No matter how many times I tried, it still remains the same." And honestly, he's a bit tired from all the tries.

"Hello Kaldre, I'm Henri" he tried to wave but completely forgot that he had a paw as a hand so it looks a bit awkwardly cute to see a tiger lifting his paw up to wave at you. The hope would've almost faded from his hues had it not been to Kal assuring him that he could still find a way to help despite not being a diviner, that was better than nothing and the fact that this stranger was willing to lend a hand for him who was in need of it, tells a lot already. "To answer all of those three questions, no. I only felt weird after I couldn't shift back, it's like my tiger side doesn't want to budge and listen no matter how many times I tried telling it to let go. I know it's not a rebellious thing, something is happening and I couldn't think of anything else aside from being cursed by a diviner. But I didn't piss anyone off... "

Kal gave a pointed look at the other male, which in hindsight looked like a guy who was tired of his pet cat because it kept misbehaving and running his things “Well I obviously tried to use to talk to actual animals” he commented in an exasperated tone “Imagine trying to talk to an actual cat and ending up getting a paw to the face for your effort” he commented in a slightly grumbly tone “I thought it didn’t work after that, it only just occurred to me that it could be a different kind of...being” he didn’t say animal this time because that seemed to be a sore point and he wasn’t looking to try and upset the other male “The mystical object trade is hit or miss, some people take superstition too far, others actually got things from Diviners” and it was very hard in a short consultation to know the difference.

“Yeah, hence why I was a little apprehensive to let you inside, you just never know with this city” he had definitely seen a lot of strange happenings come to his shop and they didn’t show signs of stopping either, sometimes he questioned if he went into the right business because he swore he found himself in the strangest situations. “What does a Therianthrope eat anyway?” he asked curiously, he supposed if they got hungry in that form they had to do some sort of hunting right? “I have a raw steak in the fridge if that’s of any help” he offered. He looked around when the other male asked him to decrease the temperature before raising his hand and freezing some of the molecules in the air, immediately making the room feel colder “That should be more to your liking” he commented softly.

He had to chuckle softly at the adorable way that Henri attempted to wave at him in greeting “I’d say nice to meet you Henri but I can’t imagine this situation is all that favorable for you” he commented his breath as he started to try and think of things which might help with this particular predicament. He bit his lip when the other male confirmed that nothing strange had really happened to him lately but at least that did rule out a few ideas in the book and not leave them staring at every possible option he could think of “Pardon my ignorance but could you explain to me how the change is triggered?” he pursed his lips trying to think how to explain what he was getting at “Is the driver behind it more physical, such as the physical reactions from an emotion or even pain, or is it mental? You know more...willing things to happen” with that clarified he was sure he could come up with more ideas.

He was aware that his backhand comments and sarcasm wasn't helping the situation but Henri hasn't been all too well trapped in his form without knowing when he could revert back next. So he's being a bit cranky now, alongside his famished self. Yes, he hasn't eaten for about 2 days or so now. It wasn't as if he could also go for a hunt, if anyone sees him, he's not going to have a fun time running away before being caught. "I'm sorry for being… cranky. I'm just not used to no control over this… I mean of course I have control over my actions, just not the reverting back to human kind of control" he murmured sheepishly, if only he could rub the back of his head following the awkward silence between them. The thought of receiving a paw to the face as a response was funny though. He could only imagine. Back in the manor, he's seen plenty of cats, one of them was Seraphire, Malva's white Persian Ragdoll cat that he swore would glare at you as if she's royalty. Overall, he's fine with animals.

"And you know not to take superstition like it's nothing, huh?" Obviously, he could smell it off him to know that this guy wasn't a human. Especially with how much knowledge, no matter how minimal it was, he seemed to hold. He was glad that Kal had allowed him to come inside, of course. It was a lifesaving move for Henri, who didn't know where else to keep himself at aside from the woods. "I'm grateful that you allowed me inside… God knows where I would hide at until this… thing wears off." When he was asked what they eat, his eyes flickered momentarily and cleared his throat, "That" he motioned to Kal's answer afterwards. "It depends on the individual, I imagine. I'm used to shifting into my form so I hunt a few times. And most of the time it's smaller animals, raw meat mhmm" He couldn't even focus that much on his words because his attention is now elsewhere when the other male mentioned he had raw steak stored up. Hey, he's hungry. Have mercy on the guy.

The drop in the temperature of the room made Henri blink a few times in amazement, it felt like the room became so much colder. "How did you do that… are you a Niveis?" Being in the Guard meant information come and go, and the newest addition to the city was definitely a piece Henri did not forget about. "Thank you." It does make him feel so much better, the winter doesn't bother him when he's a snow tiger but sometimes it gets overwhelming when you're in one space and it's so warm. "Oh well, it may not be as nice but it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kaldre" he bowed his head slightly as an indication towards his greeting, though it does look funny since it was similar to a house cat trying to nod in acknowledgement, albeit a very… big house cat.

He didn't have any hesitation when it comes to explaining to Kal how he shifts, it wasn't anything major anyway, "I don't know about others but I'm guessing once you're used to it, it becomes your second nature. I shift into my form every time I will it. Although there are certain times when your temper gets to you and well… " he grinned sheepishly, it could be embarrassing, really. "So I'd say the latter. Why do you ask?" Was he getting somewhere?

Kal shrugged nonchalantly when Henri apologized for being cranky, he could definitely understand why he would feel that way given the fact he couldn’t turn back no matter how hard he tried and was now wondering if he ever would he was sure “Believe me I get it, no one likes feeling out of control in their own life” he sympathized given everything he went through in his part “It’s probably not easy feeling like your own control has been taken from you either” he pondered how that must feel, knowing you had this power to be whatever you wanted before and now suddenly faced with the realization your own power was becoming a prison “But I’m sure there will be a way to fix it, we just have to figure out what’s wrong” which may result in a little trial and error but hey, he was awake now.

“I find in this world it’s usually better to assume every legend is true rather than the opposite” he admitted and shrugged his shoulders, he had heard some crazy stories about the supernatural, tales of species he had never even met before, objects that if real would have the power to destroy the whole world, it was hole you could dive down and never return from if you weren’t careful. “Yeah, you aren’t exactly inconspicuous in the city, even with the stripes” he joked with a chuckle trying to cheer the other male up a little because he seemed worried about what he was going to do “Though surely you have a pack you could turn to if needed?” he questioned, in his understanding of therianthropes they mostly traveled in numbers because it made them more powerful after all. “Alright steak it is” he commented giving a slightly weirded-out look because he wasn’t exactly sure how was best present a meal to a tiger. He headed into the kitchen and took it out of the packaging before placing it on a plate and then returning, setting the plate down on the floor “Don’t starve on my watch, we still have plenty to work on to get you back to normal I’m sure”.

The Niveis propped himself up onto the counter and raised his brows curiously when the other male asked if he was a Niveis “Yes, though I have to admit I’m surprised you know how to recognize one” he admitted and bit his lip, though he supposed this was going to get more and more common from here on out because they were a public faction in the city now, Kal had read all about how his sister had arranged a spot on the peace treaty for the tribe. “No problem, I prefer the cold anyway so really I’m making both of us more comfortable” he crossed one leg over the other as he nodded his head back towards Henri, this was still weird but he was starting to get used to talking to the tiger, which was a weird thing to even think so he was doing his best not to focus on it too much.

He listened intently as Henri explained the way that he shifted, while he was processing the information he was trying think of possible things they could try to solve the problem, nothing immediately jumped to mind but at least talking about it they could try and figure out what the blocker likely was “Well I was debating whether I was going to need to burn a bunch of incense to trigger some kind of physical response or if we need to you know, figure out a mind blocker, honestly I was hoping for the incense” he sighed softly “Do you have any experience with meditation?” he hopped down from the desk, well, doing meditation with a tiger wouldn’t be the weirdest thing he’d done in his life but it was definitely up there.

"If feels so weird being trapped… I've always had a control over how I shift and this is the first time I ever encountered this type of problem" And it was egging him because Henri wasn't happy to know that what used to be his strength was no longer his own to control. In fact, wasn't this becoming another one of his weaknesses? He couldn't exactly fight people off if they were to hunt him down. So he does feel utterly helpless right now. Thankfully, he met someone who was willing to help him. That's why he was able to feel slightly relieved, at the moment. "Hopefully, there's a way. Surely, there must be one. You can't do magic without having a way to counter and undoing it, right?" The therian knew enough on how things worked, there must be a loophole somewhere. It's how nature demands the balance to be retained. He's fine with complying if it meant there is a way of him to revert back to his human form.

A chuckle escaped him when he realized Kal was trying to cheer him up, to make something of this situation into something more… cheerful. There was no reason to stay sullen the entire time, no? Not when he needed to find a way to undo this thing, this contraption. When asked if he had a pack to go back to, he cleared his throat and looked away in what seemed to be an embarrassment, it's not like he wasn't proud he joined the Guard. It's a prestigious position where he's at. But when talking about packs, all they had were the other therians in the Guard and even then, it wasn't like any others. "Not exactly… I mean, I don't go together in a pack." It's hard to explain to Kal who may or may not know about the Guard but he'd rather keep himself tight-lipped right now.

When he came back with a plate placed before him, Henri got up and was quick to dine in his meal, god he was famished. "Thank you" he quipped softly before digging in. The moment Kal confirmed he was, indeed, a Niveis, Henri had a small smile because he felt a bit accomplished, that's more than what he's gotten for the past few days. He knew it must've been extremely weird to be talking to a tiger during everyrhing that was happening but it could be worse, besides, it's Evermore. What's even surprising anymore? They live among humans and supernaturals alike, it's nothing new for most people, especially if the humans were residents.

The mention of incense had him scrunching his nose up as he shook his head gently, whimpering at the thought of it as soon as he finished his meal, flopping himself on the floorboards with his head tilted to the side slightly. God he was actually behaving like an actual house cat. A big house cat. "Depends on what kind of meditation you're talking about… have I done yoga?
