The Beginning
Julian Nathaniel Lockhart was born in England, his mother being a human whilst his father a Nephilim. Julian led the first few years of his life as what some could say just a regular human. On some occasions, his father would tell him the stories about the angels that roamed the Earth years ago. Being at such a young age, he believed everything he was told, always asking questions about it to learn more. His family was pretty much reserved to themselves, always keeping things in the family and never accepting outside aids. In a way, his entire family was built up quite traditionally. He had one older sister by 6 years, Jane Ann. For a family of 4, they sure did have plenty of relatives scouring around the globe, most of which chose to settle in England still.
As he grew older, he discovered the two thick scars on his back that were sat on his shoulder blades, knowing it was not an injury he had, otherwise he would have remembered it. The more he looked at them, the more his curiosity grew and the more intrigued he became about the scars that remained on his skin. A child's curiosity could never be quenched fully and Julian soon began questioning his father and mother about them, not ever receiving a full straight answer as to what they were and where they came from. Instead of being told what happened, he was trained from that day onwards, always practising with his father and never getting a full break or an answer to his never ending questions. At the age of 12, his father finally became annoyed with him always asking about the scars and told him the full true story of what he was and where the scars had came from. How he was born with the scars on his skin and that the stories of the angels roaming the Earth were all true. Julian being more than shocked at first didn’t believe what he had been told.
Eventually he began noticing more things about himself that linked to what he had been told, like how his eyes have a purple tint in them and many other differences he hadn’t noticed before. Soon after he had found out about the truth of him being a Nephilim, his parents had decided it would be best to send him to a boarding school in England. It was the only choice they could come up with at the time. A few weeks after they had told him, he was all packed and ready to go, having mixed feelings on the situation of leaving his family home where he was with his parents, to go to a boarding school where he knew no one and where he couldn’t talk freely about himself being a Nephilim.
Upon arriving at the said boarding school, he mainly stuck to himself, making only a few friends here and there. He didn’t keep the same friends for too long, not trusting himself to keep his secret a secret and for it to remain that way. When he met Cornelia, he somehow knew he could trust her, knowing she was different from the rest of the students that attended the school. Over his time there, he became close to Cornelia and eventually they were best friends, telling each other everything except that one secret he could never tell anyone. The one secret that would always remain a secret for as long as he could keep it that way. The angel child maintained a well-known reputation that preceded him up until today throughout his time in the prestigious academy, people knew him for his inherent talent of creating things from scraps or the mindless jumbling ideas that he came up with randomly. Julian wasn't at all considered popular in school but he was definitely enough to pique one particular person's interest; a female junior by 2 years who only ever stared at him from afar.
After he finished boarding school, he went separate ways with Cornelia, though promising to keep in touch. He returned home to his parents and they could see how much he had changed over his time at the boarding school, becoming more intelligent from his studies and only having various small visits back to his family home during his years at school. Over the next few years, he traveled around England and a few other countries, having the money to do so, before trying to find more out about the Nephilim and any other supernatural creatures that roamed the earth. He also found his calling in furthering his tertiary education into engineering, specifically aeronautical engineering. He remembered that the little boy at the mere age of 6 had been a big admirer of jets and planes in general and the same interest followed him into adulthood. Initially, his parents weren't exactly pleased to know that their only son would not be venturing into the path of becoming a lawyer but an engineer instead.
Despite being slightly disheartened by his parents' reaction to his choice, his sister, Jane Ann continued to support him from the sidelines, she would often come and visit him at his place whenever she had time just to spend some time with him. And when she couldn't meet him physically due to work constraints and her working in Melbourne as a marine biologist, she would take the chance to ring him up or engage on FaceTime. He didn't feel so alone then. After a while, he received a letter from his parents apologizing for their behavior and wished him the best of luck and hoped he will find what he loves. Well, he did find a lot of things he loved while studying at the university. It was a year into his program, leaving only two and a half years left before he could get into the internship program offered by his faculty dean who said the military was actively searching for potential cadets to pilot and engineer their jets. That was when he met Maleah Savaryn, or easily known as the love of his life.
Julian found out that Maleah was his junior back in boarding school, and how she was indeed the junior who had a crush on him. He was taken aback by the sudden confession but played it well and asked who would confess and admit their affection so openly like that, only to receive a similar reply that has never changed for her. "I like you." It was really something Julian never forgot because true to her words, she never left his side. It wasn't up to any obsessive tendencies nor was there any stalking methods being used throughout her efforts which amused the hell out of Julian who only ever shook his head and grin. He favored her company, Maleah knew exactly how to comfort or console him whenever things are rough. Regardless of how she portrayed herself around the angel child, Maleah is quite the prim and proper girl who came from an all too well-known family. It was no wonder his parents were smitten by her, she was very charming. Unfortunately, those charms never traveled anywhere close to Jane Ann who seemed to dislike her for some unknown reason she never disclosed to even her husband, much less her brother who was head over heels falling for that girl.
Julian never once again bothered his sister for answers he knew he'll never get and continued to live his life happily with the blonde human. Two years into their relationship, it was time for him to embark on his internship journey which would locate him in Johannesburg for practical training before eventually moving to a few more places. Maleah knew the opportunity he received after graduating with flying colors and was more than happy to aid him on his journey since she too, received the opportunity to further her studies in the medical field. The two of them understood the great importance it meant to both their lives but neither was willing to let go of the other without any words. A few weeks before his departure, Julian decided to propose to her while they were having a candlelit dinner at the garden in his family's backyard, professing his love for her and his intention on starting another chapter with her. Much to his delight, there was no reason for her to reject him and he was able to leave the country with a clear mind.
But just like any good chapters in one's life, everything was fine until it wasn't. This wasn't a fairytale, it was reality. Good things would end up wilting once the time is due. They were supposed to get married during the first day of spring's solstice, exactly a year after his time in the military and a month before he started working at the new airline company. They almost did. Everything was already planned out for them, he was going to settle down and work in a local airline company instead of furthering his enlistment in the USSF and Maleah was doing fine on her residency in the hospital. But not all plans work out the way we expect them to. On the eve of their wedding, they were all away celebrating with each other's families, relatives and friends. Jane Ann returned for the sake of her brother yet she still expressed her dislike over Maleah, telling Julian how it was too good to be true that everyone finds her likable and perfect without any flaws. It didn't help that Maleah was an orphan either.
The elder Lockhart kept trying to convince him that she was fooling everyone and he was the one falling into her trap of deceit the most. Unable to comprehend the things his own sister who's been taking good care of him since a child, Julian snapped and told her to leave if all she wanted was a cancelled wedding because that would never happen. He ended up drinking the entire night away not caring whether he would suffer a hangover tomorrow morning before their evening wedding. The last thing he remembered was Jane Ann's disappointed face as the black spots began to fill his head.
He woke up just in time for the wedding and despite battling a slight hangover, he was grateful for the day and acted on his best behavior. Everything looked perfect, the hotel was decorated exactly to the bride and groom's preferences and families and friends who were invited looked equally excited to see the union they'll tie together that day. He didn't know what went wrong, nobody had any motive to do that unthinkable act. One minute he was conversing with his friends at the table, and the other minute he was busy fighting off a rogue Valkyr who was trying to rip his head off. Thankfully being a Nephilim meant he was equipped with enough fighting and preservation skills which aided him in the battle with the sudden attack at the ballroom. They had reserved the hotel solely for the purpose of this wedding so there were only guests and families there. The only tolerable thing that came out of the attack was his predominant Nephilim relatives handling the situation. It was a massacre and it wasn't until he saw his cousin's bloodied state who was covered by his wife's blood that he was reminded of Maleah.
All he heard was a blood curdling scream coming from his sister who went to check on Maleah who was still in her room during the attack. The horrified look on her face was more than enough to warrant his worry and the moment he saw a dagger in her sister's hand with her dress covered in blood, he couldn't help but to think of the worst that happened to his fiancee. Jane Ann tried to hold him back but her attempts were futile as he fought his way in only to find the white dress Maleah wore was no longer white in color, it was drenched with red, there was too much blood and the sight was too much for him. His sister rushed to his aid and forced him to look away before dragging him out of the bloody scene.
He could never forget that tragic day that took place on his wedding. Julian didn't even have the chance to even say his vows. The total body count excluding the perpetrators reached 19 as they confirmed Maleah's untimely death. Some of the rogues escaped unscathed and had it not been because of his sister, he would've hunted them down till the ends of the earth. Instead, she told him to erase that painful event from his life and move on, it was harsh but knowing his sister, it was what he needed. And so he did, he went back and rejected the offer to work in the local airline company and decided to enlist his service in the USSF. Julian still held a major dislike he couldn't shake off when it comes to Valkyrs but learned to push the differences aside over the years.
Present Day
That was when he heard about a specific city in the USA, where all kinds of creatures roamed free, living in factions with the ambassadors and humans around the city. Having decided to check it out, for any more of his kind and to find out any more he can, he left for Evermore City, Colorado, not knowing he would bump into a few bits of the path that would lead him back to memory lane and not knowing what lies in store for him when he reached the city.
