Fire.

The one element, that reminded Artemitra of the species, Phoenix. A species, that Celestial’s feared. It also reminded her of destruction, but also of warmth. Fire could also be friendly; and help warm you up on a cold winter’s day. Whilst, some used fire to entertain people. As risky as it was; there were a lot of uses when it came to Fire. But today was not a good day; when it came to fire. Today, it was an enemy. Smoke rising up in the air, two buildings on fire, people injured and choking/suffocating from the smoke.

Artemis had no idea, how she ended up on this spot here in time. It wasn’t her usual job; to take photos for the local newspaper of incidents around town. Artemis, usually done private jobs when it came to Photography. This was a bit more bigger; than what she had already done. Which was both exciting and scary.

Artemitra was shocked at the sight in front of her, when she first had seen it. Two Apartment buildings in the city’s centre were ablaze...panic everywhere, firefighters on the scene trying to end the destruction.Police, ambulances on the ready. A news crew, and her-the photographer of the event. Artemis could feel the heat radiating off of the burning buildings...even if she wasn’t standing close enough. She could still feel it. Her palms sweating; from her nerves. Artemitra hadn’t seen such chaos in Evermore yet. Wondering whom had even been so reckless...or cruel to hurt innocent people, with fire.

Wether it was an incident, or if someone done it on purpose. Artemitra had no idea. But the Police seemed to be on high alert-asking bystanders questions about what happened hours before, the fire broke out. With her camera in hand, Artemitra was taking photos of the scene around her. Capturing the blazes of the fire, and the chaos. Snapping shots, of the brave firefighters, that were piling into the buildings to rescue those that were trapped on the higher levels of the apartment buildings. Each snap, seemed to go by a blur. Each picture, telling a story of it's own almost. Even, with how fast she was snapping photos of everything; Artemitra was usually a perfectionist. She had managed to get her work, in clear photos. No blurs. It made her wonder, if all of the people here; doing their said occupation. Knew, that's what they wanted to do with their lives. Where they too, following their passion like she was following hers?

The Lycanthrope couldn’t understand his feeling of gratitude for the woman who saved his life from falling to his possible death when his own firefighter collapsed from dehydration. She saved him from bumping the controls that controlled the ladder. Without her Justice may have been lying in a hospital bed while on life support fighting for his life, but the woman saved him and three other lives. He was grateful for that the woman had risked her own to save Justice and others around. He admired her for her lack of judgement and risking her own to save those who were strangers to her. Justice felt he owed the woman much more than a bouquet of flowers, but he would take things slowly for the sake that she was injured.

Regret raged inside of Justice as he stumbled through the halls of the hospital while he searched for the young woman who’d become a definite hero in his eyes. Just’ had one wish that he would have checked on his people before making the dangerous climb up the ladder. Unfortunately, he made the mistake of not doing so which caused Nicky, the pregnant mother and himself in a grave danger. This mysterious photographer woman came in and saved the day from more certain disaster. Which could have occurred when Nick passed out from dehydration. Justice wished he would haven’t been so negligent when it came to the safety of his men, but the others refused to save  the mother and unborn child. Justice risked everything for a mother and unborn child and the others blamed him for making a risky decision.

In the back of his mind the little voice told him that it wasn’t his fault, but the regret still consumed him to a point of no return. He felt rather guilty that he’d put how many more lives in danger by performing the way he did. Even though the new parents were thrilled to have brought their child into the world with little complications.

Waiting at the nurses station while he waited for the nurse to return from answering call lights that were on down the hallway. He watched the nurse weave in and out of the multiple rooms she was responsible for. Yet he watched a nurses aid falling behind from her duties and he could see the frustration growing in the registered nurses features. Justice proceeded to watch mesmerized by the RN’s ability to file through all the patients on her own while the disrespectful CNA sat on her phone slacking on the duties given to her for the night. Justice couldn’t believe that even in the medical field people slacked on their duties making others having to work harder.

Placing an ear against the wooden door he soon heard the spanish accent chiming in her tone as she gave him permission to enter the hospital room. Unfortunately he felt a little bad when he heard the tiredness in her voice, but he figured he would make his stop very brief unless she inquired more about his intentional visit to meet the one who saved him from a possible certain death. Rarely Justice ever had to make these types of visits to the hospital, normally he was making social calls to see those who he saved.

His features colored more as he entered the room and his gaze came onto the woman who laid in the hospital bed; Hooked to the monitors that monitored her heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen level. Justice frowned softly as he worried about the injury that had been inflicted on her lower calf. Just’ worried about noticing the color in her features as his eyes instantly glanced towards the temperature gauge that was monitoring her. Noticing that her temperature was normal he disregarded the worry for fever.

Shrugging his shoulders once as he smiled sincerely in her direction as a way to apologizing for not calling first. “I suppose I could have called to your room first to see if you were open for visitors, but I was already in the hospital visiting mother and child.” He stated softly as he was glad she enjoyed the thought of the beautiful flowers the station had donated to the woman. Of course the men at the station didn’t need to give her flowers, but she saved a member of their own team and she deserved something that said ‘thank you.’ The best the men could think of was a bouquet of flowers delivered by the southern charmer himself. “You are welcome, we all pitched in for these.” He stated with a stupid grin covering his features as he moved a chair next to the bed where she laid. Justice mentally noted the name and noted the features of the woman. “It’s nice to meet you too Artemitra, I am sure a lot of people called you Artie?” He questioned as before averting his gaze to around the room.

A soft chuckle passed through his parted lips as he shook his cranium at the thought. “Honestly you were about the only one who would have made it there in time to save Nicky, or myself.” He admitted as he was leading on that he knew she wasn’t a human. With the way his team was being lately Justice doubted that any of them would have bothered even saving Nick and would have blamed Justice for everything; which they already were doing. “Nick is doing great, he’s actually being discharged and picked up by his family.” Justice informed her with a bright grin covering his features. Justice could understand the woman’s worry about the others he’d saved and he intended on letting her know that they were all perfectly healthy. “All three are perfectly healthy, on their way to the hospital mother began giving birth and once at the hospital she gave birth to a healthy a bit premature baby girl who they named Justine in my honor.” He said with a bright proud smile covering his features.

Artemitra had never heard of a fireman, making visits to the local hospital to see those that they had helped save. Let alone visit other patients. But Justice’s visit to the hospital; indeed was very sweet of him. It showed that he cared, about the lives that he had saved. It was quite a rare sight to see. The Celestial had registered, his concerned expression as he kept glancing between her and the machines she was hooked up to. The Celestial was a little pale; due to blood loss at the scene. But everything else seemed quiet stable. “Don’t worry...it’s just a leg injury. I am sure it’ll heal.” Considering her near-death experiences in the past; any time she had tried to help innocent people. This was nothing, compared to some of the other sticky situations she had been in.

As he apologised for not calling first, Artemis smiled softly. “It’s alright, don’t worry. I just woke up few….urgh…” Artemitra glanced towards the clock on the wall, near the doorway. To try and suss out, what time it is that she had woken up. But the time was stuck...at the very inaccurate time of 9.30am. The battery had run out, and none of the staff had bothered to replace it yet. “Oh, great...the clock on the wall is no use.” Artemitra muttered. “To be honest, I have no idea what time it was...when I woke up...or how long I’ve been here...whatever the doctors had given me, for pain relief kept me knocked out for a while.”  She admitted-looking slightly embarrassed for her lack of ‘sense of timing.’ Artemis usually felt more, together than this. It might take her a few moments, to get there.

“But, really...it’s nice to have some company.” Even if his visit was unexpected. Artemis was glad that he decided to stop by. His comment about people referring to her as Artie, made her laugh slightly. It was a soft-warmth filled giggle. “As a matter of fact yes. I think my friends had started bit of a tradition on that one...even strangers call me that now sometimes. Before that Artemis...or Mitra was more of the more used nickname.” But the Celestial didn’t mind. She just let everyone call her, what they wished really. And, if she were to be asked; yes she had taken a liking to the nickname of Artie. His wide grin, made it hard not to smile back. Seeing, what happened earlier. Artemitra was glad to see the fireman in brighter spirits.

His next few words, along with something in his eyes told her that he knew. That he could tell, she was no mortal. Artemis remembered what Kane once said to her. Her scent always gave her away, that she was no ordinary human being. “Pardon me, for the fact that I am going to be quiet blunt..” The Celestial apologised, for what she was about to say, to the unknown Therian that was sitting by her side. “But...you have that look.” Artemitra was doing her best to read his expression. “And that look, usually tells me...that you know something.” The Celestial was watching him, to see how he would take her assessment. It made her wonder, if he had other reasons for visiting her. Besides thanking her, for saving Nicky’s lives along with 3 others. “I take, that this….isn’t a normal social visit?” Her eyebrows rose slightly. But her voice remained soft and pleasant nonetheless. Artemis was curious, to see if any of the things she had just said were true. Since they were alone, she didn’t entirely mind if he was full of questions for her. Artemitra was always honest and open-especially since he was half-way there when it came to figuring something out. Not to mention, her intelligence and knowledge over her years of living allowed her to figure out for herself, that there was more to this situation than meets the eye.

Hearing, that Nick was getting discharged made her sigh in relief. Thank god, he was out of the woods. Him giving her good news, felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. “That’s good...I am glad they’re all okay.” Although, the word glad was bit of an understatement. The Celestial couldn’t think of a better word, in the moment though. Hearing that the couple had named their daughter, after Justice made her smile brightly. “Aww, that’s sweet. But, you are very much the Hero of the day. You deserve that honour.” Artemis said honestly.

Before they could delve into the conversation, about his visit. There was another knock on the door and Nick’s head popped around the corner. It seemed like, the other young fireman also wanted, to pay Artemis a little visit. He smiled wide; seeing the young woman was awake. “Ah, Angel’s awake.” he said smiling brightly. Giving Justice, a nod when he saw him sitting by the woman’s bedside.

For a few moments, Artemitra looked confused. Angel? Whom was Nicky talking about? There wasn’t anyone else in the room, besides her and Justice. Then it hit her...he thought, she was his Angel. Her cheeks turning slightly pink. “Angel? Me?” still looking stunned, shaking her head softly. “I am no Angel.” she said softly. It wasn’t a comment she was expecting. As flattering as that comment was; Artemitra’s statement was accurate on some level. The young woman was probably very far from it. Especially with her impulsive personality. So she wouldn’t exactly, call herself one. Knowing, the amount of trouble she had gotten herself into her during her existence. Or maybe, it just seemed like the response of someone, whom didn’t know what to say, in return to such a comment. “I am glad, to see you’re on your feet.” Artemis smiled at him softly. “Just please, do me a favour. Try not to pass out any time soon in front of a burning building.” The Celestial would hate to see something happen to a good soul, like him. And would hate it even more so; if she couldn’t be there to help him a second time.

No matter what, she would say. To Nick; she’d still be an Angel. “Surely, you must be. I mean...I wouldn’t be standing here...if it wasn’t for you.” Nicky said honestly. “Although, it was partially my fault...I haven’t drunk enough water.” So the fault was his own, for getting himself into such a situation. Even if the young woman had saved his life. Artemitra couldn’t even recall, the last time someone had thought of her as being their Guardian Angel...or an Angel in general. Her words, made him chuckle slightly. “I’ll try not to.” For her sake, as well as everyone else’s. He’d keep more hydrated. But everything had been of a rush today. That he had entirely forget to take care of himself at the scene.

Looking towards her, being all hooked up. Nick’s face creased with slight worry. “Are you alright? How’s...your injury?” From what little he had been told; Nick knew she had an injured leg. He didn’t know how bad it was. But he hoped, she would recover soon enough.

As he asked about her own injury. Artemis had been trying not to think about it. As that had seemed to make the pain slightly worse, despite the pain killers being pumped into her via drip. “It hurts...but It’ll heal.” Luckily, the pain killers had been numbing out a huge amount of pain. It hurt less, than when she was on the scene; after her adrenaline rush was gone. But it was still painful nonetheless.
