Personality
The Good - Ash is dependent of himself, and never takes things for granted. If and when the rare occasion pops up that he decides to trust someone, he’s the most loyal person you could meet, and will always have your back. Ash is very committed and dedicated to his work, he’s a quick learner and a fast thinker.
The Bad - Ash is cold and harsh. He closed himself off to the world around him once or twice, but the last time, he remained that way. He doesn’t trust anyone, and he refuses to let anyone close to him. Ash knows about the supernatural, and absolutely hates them, but he’s not prejudice, Ash hates everyone. Getting him to so much as smile at you comes with effort. As became obsessed with learning about supernatural beings to a sick level. Many are scared of him and his twisted ways, and a few have told him he’d be better off to humanity if he was locked away in a psych ward.

Ash Dunford had entered the world during one of the coldest nights that winter could offer to the small town of Birmingham, Detroit. As Megan Romero cried out in pain while laboring to bring her little boy into the world, her boyfriend sat silently, caressing her when he was able to, being as supportive as he could for a child that wasn’t his. Megan Romero and Jackson Romero had divorced months after Megan realized she was pregnant. Jackson didn’t believe the child was his, therefor he left, saying he had no reason at all to stay, that even if the baby did turn out to be his, he wanted nothing to do with it. During the few harsh weeks after he had left her, Megan began bar hopping, sleeping with different men, and finding herself in a haze of drugs and alcohol; being told that if she didn’t stop, that they would have no choice but to take the child away from her after she gave birth to it, given it survived all of her partying. Megan had fallen into a deep depression with that news, and found herself drinking even more, rather than stopping. It was then that she met her new boyfriend; Tate Dunford, who had a few secrets.

When Tate and Megan first met, it was during one of the many nights that Megan had been out bar hopping. Tate had happened to be in the same bar, where Megan had taken him home but to her surprise, the man refused sleeping with her. Instead, Tate expressed how beautiful she was, that she didn’t need to continue belittling herself like she was, and that she could have a decent man in her life without tossing herself at them like a cheap prostitute. Though his words rang out harsh, they were the truth she needed to hear. Tate had been following Megan, and had seen her at her worse, so a man who was willing to take the good with the bad, was simply something Megan thought was to good to be true. Tate seemed like one of those romantics you’d only find in a movie or a book, and Megan immediately fell for his charm. Even if she knew there was something dark about him, he had been her salvation, the very thing that caused Megan to sober herself up long enough to give birth to Ash Dunford. Though Megan knew without a doubt that Ash’s father wasn’t Tate, it was Tate’s last name given to Ash, simply because Tate stepped up and done what Jackson refused to do.

Parenting had been something new for both Megan and Tate, Ash had been both of their first. Tate didn’t show as much interest in Ash as Megan had, and though at first it hurt, Megan stayed with Tate. He had been the one to save her from her self afterall. Tate and Megan had fallen in love, But the older Ash got, the less interested Tate became in helping Megan raise the little boy. Five years seemed to have flown by, leaving both of them to question where the time had went. And during those five years, the couple began arguing. Bickering back and fourth about whether or not to tell Ash that Tate wasn’t his real father. Megan battled herself not to return to old habits; alcohol, men and drugs. While Tate resorted to the very thing he had saved Megan from, and soon enough he was consuming more alcohol than he was daylight.

Megan worked for a local clinic, dealing with sick elderly people, mostly with dimensia and alzheimers, and Tate worked in the legal field, he was someone who trained police dogs, and made plenty of money in doing so. Their income combined, would have given Ash everything he would have ever needed and wanted, but the more he ages, the more he found himself wanting only one thing. For his parents to love each other again, and to know what had drove a wedge between them in the first place.Ash began to show an interest in Tate’s job, asking him questions and soaking in whatever answers he was given. At just the tender age of 7, Ash went to work with Tate, where Tate showed him the ropes in training police dogs. Without realizing what Tate’s true intentions for him was, Ash would have had a pretty amazing day.

On their drive back home, Tate had a heart to heart with Ash. Explaining that he wasn’t Ash’s real father. Ash being as young as he was, didnt know how to take the devestation. With age came rebellion for Ash. He had grown distant and cold to the world around him, especially his mother, while maintaining somewhat a healthy relationship with Tate despite the obvious. Being secluded and isolated as Tate built a relationship with Megan’s son, she began drinking again. It was one of the many nights that Tate and Ash had been out and about bonding, that Megan left, and never returned. Tate knew what had happened right away, it was the secret Tate had entered their lives with. Tate had been a supernatural hunter; seeing all supernatural beings as obiminations to the world, but until now, he never wanted to bare that burdden with Ash.

However, when the cops made it to Tate and Ash, they were devestated by the news that followed. Megan had been ‘murdered’. Since Tate worked with Detroits police department, he had enough pull to go to the crime scene, where he found his wife with two puncture wounds in her neck, being that of a Valkyr. Tate had told Ash to sit inside one of the police cars, but the boy simply didn’t listen, and after running up to see the shape his mother was in, Ash’s life would never be the same. On the ride back home, Ash sat in a state of shock, and Tate explained to him exactly what had done that to his mother. “Valkyr’s are not just a myth Ash. All the supernatural creatures you think are just horror stories, are very real. They are abominations, and that’s something ive hidden from you until now. I never thought it would be what ended your mothers life” he expressed, explaining it to Ash the best he could.

Ash burst out into laughter through the tears he shed over his mother. “You think I believe anything you just said? Perhaps you need another hobbie, because slaying Valkyr’s and hunting down immortal beings.. Do you know how crazy that sounds? Someone murdered her.. Someone didn’t drain the blood from her neck and disappear into the night Tate” Ash replied with venom in his tone, putting himself in denial. Ash’s interest in becoming a forensic pathologist, had somewhat turned into an obsession. He enjoyed the idea more of knowing he could determine someone’s cause of death than working with a bunch of dogs all day like Tate did. Especially after the startling news Tate had delivered after his mothers death. Ash was fascinated with death, and it’d gotten so that it became alarming for Tate. Tate decided not to bother him about it, as long as he continued soaring and excelling in school. Ash had became closed off from human interaction though. With such a huge interest in death, and the depression he fell into over his mother, the few friends he had made, called him a freak and never spoke to him again. Ash didn’t mind being alone though, in all honesty, Ash felt more at peace when he was alone..and he continued to make top marks in his class, always on the honors roll, never missing a day of school.

After a funeral was held for his mother, Ash returned back to school the day after, like nothing had even happened. He stayed to himself, studied hard, and spoke to no one. He was now more determined to make it through school than anything.

Ash felt betrayed by both of his parents, even if his mother was dead, all he could feel was betrayal, because he found himself desperately tracking down his biological father to no avail. He didn’t let anything he had went through so far slow him down in school Although he did begin to lash out towards Tate, who’d stuck by him even when he knew the boy didn’t belong to him. Wanting to know who his real father was had became an obsession, oblivious that Jackson Romero didn’t want a thing to do with Ash. Years flew by in the blink of an eye, and when Ash’s eighteenth birthday rolled around, Tate bought him a car, and left his money to Ash, with a letter to explain he was leaving, that he had to track down the being responsible for Megan’s death.

In the letter, Tate had mentioned a city in specific; Colorado, Evermore City. He had written that if Ash didn’t believe him about supernatural beings, that going to Colorado would be all the proof he ever needed. So with that, he assumed that’s where his step-father had went to. For years though, Ash kept himself in denial, and pressed forward having enough money with what Tate had left him to do anything he wanted, which was when he started college, to fulfill his dream of being a forensic pathologist. Becoming someone who could be capable of determining cause of death was, brought some kind of inner peace to him, and he figured that his disbelief in his mothers cause of death had played a huge part of that.

The first two years of college had flown by before Ash even knew it, he had even made a friend. A female with a dark soul, someone he seemed to connect with on many levels. Her name was Elizabeth Sanders. Liza and Ace together made one of those friendships that you’d only finding yourself idolizing, wishing you had one of your own; but that too was shortly lived when he realized Elizabeth had a darker soul than anyone could have imagined. Certain things about her gave Ash the idea to start following her, Elizabeth was never out during the day time, she never had an apatite to eat anything, he chalked all that up to her just not being a night time person with an eating disorder. During one of the nights that he had followed her out of the college dorm however, Elizabeth wandered into a dark alley, and for what’d seemed like ages, she just waited, like she was waiting for someone to show up. But, when someone did show up, Elizabeth handed money to the male before a sharp set of fangs pierced his neck. Ash couldn’t believe what he was seeing, the things Tate had told him was true, that meant that his mother had actually been killed by something just like the female he had befriended and grew to trust. Ash left the scene without being caught, only to arrive back into his own dorm to do some digging. What he later found out, was that a Valkyr had it’s weaknesses, and Ash planned on using each one to his advantage.

After hours upon enndless hours of research, Ash went to a local herb shop, purchasing both a jar of Daystar and roaming his home town for days to find the wood of a hawthorn tree, both that had been said to be pretty poisionus to a Valkyr. Later that day, Ash planned her death perfectly. He no longer saw her as Elizabeth, the girl who made his stomach flutter, he saw her as the very same creature that had killed his mother, for that, she would pay the price. And, when night time came, Ash had made it to her usual destination before her, paying the idiot human what Elizabeth was supposed to pay him for feeding on his blood, sending him away, and standing in the shadows with a hoodie on so she wouldn’t recognize him.

When Elizabeth showed up, Ash held onto a syringe full of Daystar, with a shaky hand. The moment his free hand reach out the money for her, he didn’t waste another second before plunging the syringe into her neck, filling her full of the toxic liquid he had paid a pretty penny for. When Liza flopped down to the ground, the next part brought joy to Ash’s already dead heart as he plunged a stake he had handmade from the hawthorn wood, into her heart. Watching as the life drifted from her eyes, he made sure she could a glimpse of his face, wanting it to be the last thing she’d ever see. Ash walked away nonchalantly, taking his weapon with him, but completely forgetting the used syringe lying on the ground, which brought along a terror he didn’t know he’d be in for.

There were more than just Elizabeth in Detroit of her kind, in fact, an entire pack of rogues had convinced a forensic analyst to trace the fingerprints left on the syringe, leading an entire coven of Valkyr’s into Ash’s direction. He had finished college successfully before he finally found himself in a world of trouble. Ash had been cornered by several different people the day of his graduation from his fourth year of college, two of them being Valkyr’s just like Elizabeth, and the others, humans who co-existed, and accepted supernatural beings as part of their world. Ash had grown dark and cold at this point, he feared nothing, not even when they brought him to the brink of death. After a beating to an inch of his life, and being fed on by the two who were like the Valkyr he had killed, Ash laid there with a bloody smile on his face.

What’d happened next, he didn’t see coming, for he thought that this was the end for him when an unknown source ran the pack of them away and took Ash to an abandoned cabin nestled deeply in the forest to heal. When he woke up, Ash found himself stitched up, under a pile of fleece blankets. He was sore from head to toe, a big part of him full of rage, wanting to leave immediately to find the ones who had done him this way, until the face of Tate Dunford came into view, sending Ash into an even bigger spiral than he was already in. Ash had changed immensely during the time Tate had been in Evermore tracking down leads to his mothers killer, why he went there, was unknown to Ash, but he didn’t care either, he knew his mother had died right here in Detroit, and it was those in Detroit that Ash blamed, never thinking for a moment that it was a much bigger picture than that until Tate explained how they were tied into Evermore, and that there was an ambassador there of their kind that he had went seeking answers from. Tate then proceeded to tell Ash that he knew he’d need him again someday, that Tate had been informed of Ash killing a supernatural, and how he had been hunted down for it later. Ash wasn’t grateful at all though,

“All you did was open a door for me Tate, a door that has ruined my life. I don’t need you, I don’t need anyone. I’m not afraid to die” he spat out in a harsh tone. Tate revealed some sad truth to him after that though, he had only come to find Ash, 1. To make sure he survived after being hunted down and 2. To tell Ash that he didn’t have much time left to live due to an illness he had been diagnosed with. Consumed with more emotions than he could handle, and feeling a sense of grief to know he was going to be left with no parents at all, Ash reacted in a pretty odd way when he punched Tate in the face, and as he broke out into tears, Tate held him instead of being angered at him for hitting him. After he held Ash’s wounded body until he inhaled and exhaled, Tate handed Ash a peice of paper, making Ash to promise that he wouldn’t read it until Tate was gone. Ash listened and put the paper in his wallet along with the card loaded full of money that Tate had given him years back for a birthday present.

Tate had one other thing for Ash though, as if the money Tate had filled his bank account with didn’t seem crazy enough for young Ash, Tate pulled his will out, leaving everything he owned to Ash for when he passed away. Overwhelmed, Ash sat there speechless, for what seemed like the rest of the evening. When bedtime came, Tate took the couch, letting Ash sleep in the bed so he could get a proper nights rest with the pain he had endured from those who’d attacked him previously. Ash awoke early that morning to find Tate lifeless. A frown graced his pale features, but he laid him to rest the following day. It was when Ash went to his old family home, retrieving a few personal items that belonged to his mother, and a few things of Tate’s, that he finally decided to open the piece of paper Tate gave him the day he had passed away.

What was read in this letter sent Ash into shock.

“You will find a man by the name of Jackson Romero in Colorado, the city full of other supernatural beings, much more than just Valkyr’s. He will help you, I promise. I’m sorry that I couldn’t. All my love, Tate” After all this time, there sat everything.

A year longer passed, and Ash hadn’t ran into anymore Valkyr’s. And, successfully he had became emplyed as a forensic pathologist But now with the knowledge that there were many more beings than just Valkyr’s in mind, Ash became restless, obsessed even and with that, he began tracking every different species he could find anything about. Though he hated supernaturals, the obsession to learn about them grew until it seemed that Ash Dunford no longer had any sanity left. He had resided in a motel during this time, and had plastered every inch of the walls with information of all different beings, eventually people started running in the opposite direction. Ash had grew even colder, darker, and more twisted. He hated supernaturals, but he also hated humans, both were equally spiteful and disgusting in his opinion. His parents had betrayed him with the truth, his mother was killed by a Valkyr, his only friend had turned out to be the very same thing that killed his mother, and the one person he had ever been close to had left him alone to deal with all of this by himself.

The day Ash decided it was time to go to Evermore, was the day he had gotten into an altercation with the manager of the hotel he was staying in. After the manager had made a visit to Ash’s room to collect rent money, realizing how insane Ash seemed with the walls being decorated by supernatural information (pictures, text, you name it, he had it) he told Ash that he needed to find another place to stay. Ash snapped, and pulled a knife on the man, telling him he would cut his insides out and use his intestines for a necklace, drawing the knife across his face, the sight of blood alerted Ash that he had went to far, and while the manager ran away screaming, possibly to call the cops, Ash tore everything from his walls, packed what few items he had there with him, and left.

Taking the first plane to Colorado, Ash got there in the early morning, finding himself a studio sized apartment right away, doing just the same as he had to his motel room, and hung up all his information that he had gathered about supernatuals. The next thing he had done was applied for a job at ECPD for the forensic pathology position, which to his surprise, they needed desperately. Figuring it would take them some time to go through all the names that had applied, Ash used that time to start tracking down real information, curious as to what all he would run into now that he was in the very city Tate had led him too, full of other supernatrual creatures. Little did he know, the entire city was a co-owned city. Humans accepted supernaturals, while some may have been on the fence about it, none hated them like Ash did.

A few months had passed, and Ash had settled quite nicely as the lone wolf that he was, and he had even gotten a call from ECPD, they had picked him out of all the people who had applied for the same job. Now with a job, a place to live, and his obsession leading him to bigger things, the only thing one thing left to do; find his biological father, something he never would have expected though, was that his father was a supernatural being. Would Ash continue on the road to hating them all? Or would he soften up, just enough to meet his father?
