Brayden O'Connor was born in the late afternoon on February 15th, 1987. He would never get the chance to know his good for nothing father, because he up and left when he found out Ashley was pregnant. Ashley O'Connor went through the entire pregnancy alone. She had nobody, her parents, their parents, and their parents’ parents had all passed away a long time ago and she had no siblings that could be with her. When Brayden was born, his mother had thoughts about giving him up for adoption. However once she held him in her arms, all that doubt fled her mind and she looked forward to watching him grow up. As soon as he was old enough to walk, Brayden did his best to help out around the house. He started out with simple tasks such as taking out the trash and sweeping floors, and made his way up to the more elaborate tasks of dishes and cooking. His mother couldn’t be more proud of the young man he had become at such a young age.
Once he began school, Brayden was a studious but rebellious student. He skipped classes for reasons that he never told anyone, not even his mother; and got into fights with other kids when they spoke poorly of his mother. However, despite all the fights and all the skipped classes, Brayden remained a straight A student. As the years passed by, Brayden grew up to be quite the lady killer; he wasn’t interested in finding love though. He went through girlfriend after girlfriend and he had slept with each and every one of them only to dump them the day after. One of the girls he had slept with even claimed that he had gotten her pregnant, but she was just lying so that he would date her again and it was caught up on a week later when he went to the doctor with her. However things rarely stayed on the bright side for young Brayden. On his 15th birthday, Brayden caught sight of an overdue mortgage payment bill on the kitchen table and his mother was in the bathroom crying. So he called up his friend Robert, who had a father that owned his own mechanic shop, and asked him to get his father to let him work there. It took a bit of convincing on Robert’s part but Brayden was able to start work the following Monday.
The money wasn’t the greatest, but it was enough to keep both him and his mother afloat. He managed to clear up the overdue payments and even fix some of the minor problems with the house. Though nothing perfect was ever meant to last. On his 18th birthday, his mother had been diagnosed with Stage 1 Cancer. They had no money to get his mother the treatment she needed to help her through this, so Brayden turned to a life of stealing to try and earn the cash he needed to get his mother help. He didn’t know it back when he first met him, but it turned out that Robert was more of a bad boy than he let on. He had connections on the streets and even ran drugs for a drug lord in California. Robert introduced Brayden into a world that would get a strong hold of him and not let him go, and would haunt him for the rest of his life. The treatments were expensive and Brayden did WHATEVER he could to get the cash he needed to keep his mother alive, however even with the added cash of selling drugs on the streets and other less than legal stuff, Brayden still struggled to make the payments on his mother’s hospital bills.
The day that he had turned to a life of crime was quite the defining moment of his life, however it wouldn’t be the ONLY change that would happen to him. In the evening of March 4th, 2006, Brayden would meet the first female that would ever make him change the way he viewed love. He had become the leader of a biker gang in the passing months and even managed to keep up with the hospital bills, even though they were increasing in price with each passing month. Brayden began to plot with Robert about pulling a heist job at the mayor’s house; and he knew the perfect way to get the intel they needed. They crashed the birthday party of the mayor’s newly 17 year old daughter, he was going to turn his charm upon the female and make her his new girlfriend. The heist would have to be planned out extremely well and if he was going to make her trust him well enough to get the information he needed then they agreed upon a time limit of one year to get everything ready.
As soon as they crashed the party, Brayden immediately turned his attention upon the 17 year old female, and almost immediately he had her under his spell. He had spent the entire time he was there at the party talking to the beautiful 17 year old, amongst other things of course. Brayden had done it, he had stolen the girl’s heart that night and would make her fall in love with him and trust him within the year’s time limit. Dakota Clearwater turned out to be quite the rebellious teenager, a girl after a heart that he thought was no longer there. He wasn’t exactly sure how her parents were going to handle the news of her dating an older man, but he was willing to risk it for the large bounty that they would eventually obtain. The atmosphere of their school had changed drastically when news got out that Brayden and Dakota were dating. They became the talk of the halls and classrooms, that girl who was supposed to be a job, was beginning to become much more than just a job. The more time he spent with the young strawberry blonde female, the more he began to enjoy their time together. He never stopped his bad boy routines though, in fact, he sometimes brought Dakota along with him which often got them both into trouble. He began confiding in her, telling the young female about his mother, and about his reason for the bad things he does. However, rather than pushing her away, it only seemed to attract her to him even more. Brayden decided to do the one thing that he had never done for any of his previous girlfriends, he brought the strawberry blonde female to visit his mother at the hospital. She was the very first person to ever meet his mother, but why he had chosen to do such a thing was beyond him.
One night Brayden received a odd phone call from Dakota. She had requested that he meet her at their usual meeting spot and he began to grow worried that she might have been onto his scheme. The scheme of course wasn’t going according to plan, he had fallen for this female but would not let his mouth admit the feelings. He had grown fairly well at hiding his true feelings from those around him. Even if she was able to get under his skin, he still wouldn’t admit to loving her, keeping her in suspense. However a night that he thought would be the end of their relationship was turned around with a single kiss. All he had to do was kiss her, and she was back under his spell; and kiss they did. One kiss leading to another, and another, and eventually they found themselves in a hotel room, where Brayden did the same thing he did with all of his girlfriends. He had finally slept with the strawberry blonde female that had gotten him to change many aspects of his life. Normally after an eventful night such as that, he would have dumped her and moved onto the next female; almost as if he were playing a game and he was moving on to the next level. But Dakota was no ordinary girl, and she was no longer just a target for a job.
He had changed his mind about robbing the Mayor’s house, and even began to have doubts about his life of crime. Sure he enjoyed the bad boy aspect and that would always remain with him, but he didn’t want to hurt Dakota, not now, not ever. When summer came round, Dakota and Brayden went to Miami, just the two of them with nothing to stop them. He didn’t feel right about letting Dakota pay for the entire trip but in the end she did and they had the time of their lives. He knew he was going to have to tell Robert that the heist was off, but for some unexplained reason he had not done so. Of course the conversation wasn’t going to go over well but he was going to have to do it at some point. However he never did get to that point, not until the night that Dakota had presented Brayden with a key to porch _. When he received that key, he got Robert to come to his house, where he was going to tell him that the heist was off. When Robert showed up he gave him a beer and sat down with him and spoke in a serious and calm tone. “Robert man, we can’t go through with this plan. Just look at this” he said revealing the key to him. “I’ve never had anyone trust me enough to give me a key to enter their place anytime I wanted to” he continued. Robert didn’t fight him on it, instead he plotted on ways to get that key from Brayden.
January 7th, 2007 proved to be one of the worst days Brayden had gone through. He was going to be heading over to Dakota’s house when he got a text saying that her parents had left so that he could take care of her where she was sick. However he couldn’t find the key that she had given him, he searched high and low for it before hearing his phone buzz with the text. He quickly texted back that he would be there shortly, he just had a few things to take care of first. He continued to tear through his house trying to find the key, however he couldn’t find it. Not wanting to face his girlfriend and give her the bad news about the key, he decided that he would be better off staying home and avoiding her until he could find the key. However that plan wasn’t going to work either. About 3 hours later, Brayden received a message from one of his many friends about a fire that raged out of control and injured the young Dakota Clearwater. Dropping his phone, he ran out of the house and for the hospital, tears falling from his eyes. He had to see her, he had to know how she was and that he was sorry for not being there. However when he arrived and placed his hands on the glass, looking into her room, the police officers on the scene arrested him for theft, arson, and attempted homicide of the Clearwater girl.
He pleaded his innocence to the police officers, and to the court, however it did no good. All he could do was watch and listen as the evidence piled up against him. Brayden could barely focus on what was being said though, in the background he could hear the slightly audible sound of tears and sobbing coming from Dakota as the court spoke lie after lie. When all was said and done, Brayden had been dragged away in handcuffs with a sentencing of 5 - 10 years in a high risk prison. His life was over, and the girl he loved (even though he hadn’t told her that), believed that he had done all that stuff the court had spoke of. He wrote to Dakota every day, sending her letter after letter trying to explain that he didn’t do the things he had been accused of. However every letter had been sent back to him unanswered and unopened. A year later, Brayden received horrible news. His mother had passed away, the cancer had taken its toll on her. He begged the warden to let him attend the funeral but the warden was a hard-ass and wouldn’t let him attend.
6 months after his mother’s death, a new detective had taken over the case and found new evidence that exonerated Brayden of all charges. A year and 6 months in prison for nothing, and the love of his life vanished without a trace. With nothing, and nobody left to care for, or about him; Brayden contacted the army and joined the active duty soldiers about 2 weeks later. Brayden spent 2 years in active service for his country, 4 years with 3 and a half tours under his belt before a bullet entered his chest nearly killing him. He was released from active duty after getting released from the hospital so that he could recover from his wounds and start fresh. As he searched for a new place to settle down and call home, Brayden heard talks of his ex-girlfriend Dakota Clearwater in a place called Evermore, City.
However he wasn’t ready to move away from Avalon, California just yet. So he went back to his mother’s home only to find out it had been repossessed and sold by the bank. With nowhere to go, Brayden went back to the hotel where he had spent that amazing night with Dakota. The date was now October 13th, 2013. He had been gone for so long, that everything he once knew was just a memory. Climbing on his motorcycle, Brayden began driving all the way to Evermore, taking on minor odd jobs to earn enough cash to keep him going until he reached Evermore. Sure he could have dipped into his Army savings but he was going to need a place once he landed in Evermore, and he had enough there do get a decent place to live.
On the eve of February 6th, 2015, Brayden, was laying on a rock in the middle of a forested area and looking at the stars, when he began feeling a searing pain ripping through his body. This pain lasted what felt like forever, and when it was over, there upon his wrist was a sun and moon tattoo with the moon shaded in. Brayden knew then and there what had happened. He had just received the supernatural status that his mother had told him about when he was young. He was now a moon shifter But what did that entail? He didn’t get to finish his studies at home so now he needed to find someone who could help him out. On February 17th, 2016; Brayden finally arrived at the entrance to Evermore City, Colorado. As he stared into the city, he couldn’t help but wonder what this would mean for him. Only time will tell whether or not he will find the answers he seeks, or even if he will reconnect with the person he loves.
