Catraoine Smyth was born in Ireland. She was the only daughter of Máire and Iasan Smyth; and although her family lived a somewhat wealthy lifestyle. She never allowed it to affect the way she lived her life. In fact, with the wealth her family had. She was able to encourage the other people who lived in her community never to give up on their dreams, and when she was old enough and finished her education in one of the best grammar schools in Ireland. She wasted no time on opening a business that would benefit the people of Ireland, and as also went about setting up a way improve her community. Catraoine knew the first thing she needed to improve, and that was the homes that the poor people lived in.

After all, everyone in her eyes deserved a safe place to live in and considering she knew her family would be proud to see her doing something she loved. She knew too well that they likely wouldn’t mind. At least, that’s what she thought until her father came home one day and saw her having a beer with someone who was less wealthy than them, and as he lashed out at her in a rage because she was spending the family’s money to improve the poor’s homes. Catraoine ended up pulling out of the home improvement scheme she had begun to put into action, and as she began to feel as though her other dreams would start falling down around her.

She wasted no time on selling her own business just to pay her father every penny she’d spent. However, unknown to her at the time that her father was only lashing out because she’d been rushing herself into a project that was too big for a girl that had her entire life in front of her to build. It wasn’t until a few years later when Catraoine began to feel a painful burning sensation in her arm that the questions began to flood her mind, but when she went to question her parents about the burning she was feeling. She never would’ve expected that her family would kick her out, and although she was left confused about why the people who had raised her right had now disowned her. Catraoine began to wonder what she’d done wrong.

At least, that was until one of the people she was helping took her in, and as she began to open up about what her parents had done. This person seemed to know exactly why they’d thrown her out, and although it pained her to have to ask why. She knew too well that maybe it would be worth knowing; at least, that’s what she felt until she heard that her parents had given birth to a son, and since he was next in line in their eyes to take over a shifter faction that lived only a few hundred yards away in the nearby woods. They saw no need to keep her around, and as the word shifter began to linger in her mind. Catraoine once again began to question what a shifter was, and that was when everything her parents hadn’t taught her finally came out.

Her family was a strong family of shifters. However, still left unsure about why her parents couldn’t have just told her instead of throwing her out. Catraoine quickly decided that maybe it was best she didn’t question anymore. After all, if her parents didn’t want to teach her the truth about their family. Why should she care? And as she went about getting the help of the people she’d once been trying to help on learning. Catraoine was left shocked when one of them decided that maybe it would be best if she traveled to a place known as Evermore City that was in Colorado, and as she was left with nothing but questions about why she’d need to travel across the world to find out more about who she was. It wasn’t until a couple of days later that she began to realize what was happening. She was getting tapped by the shifter, and as a beautiful sun tattoo appeared on her arm.

It was obvious that there wasn’t much time left until she went through her change, but as she made the journey to Evermore City with nothing but hopeless dreams in her heart. All she was really able to think about was what the change would actually feel like, at least, that was until she began to feel as though someone was setting her on fire from the inside out, and as the endless nightmares of people standing around her chanting. Catraoine began to wonder if she really wanted to be a shifter, but considering that she knew she had no choice but to accept the fate she’d been given. There was no doubt that this change was going to happen to her, and as she finally arrived in the city and began to look for other people who were just like her.

Catraoine never would’ve expected that they’d already found her, and when she came face-to-face with a girl who was from the faction she was looking. She couldn’t help but feel glad that she didn’t have to work too hard, after all, it wasn’t an easy journey from Ireland to a city that was thousands of miles the opposite direction, and even though it was obvious that she was extremely tired. Catraoine never allowed that to stop her from going forth and meeting the other shifter's, but sadly, their meeting didn’t exactly go to plan as the clock stroked midnight, and she was left doubled over in pain and as she began to beg for the people around her to help her. She never would’ve expected that all her nightmares would come true.

The people she’d dreamt about standing around her chanting appeared, and as she tried her best to get up and run. It was obvious that she just wasn’t strong enough, and as she ended up lying there listening to the chants. Catraoine was left stunned that after just a short while of them chanting. The pains she was feeling finally disappeared, at least, that was until she began to feel herself changing, and as her bones snapped into a new form and she changed from her human form into the animal that had chosen her. It wasn’t until she’d finally become the animal that she realized what animal she’d become.

A beautiful white horse that stood tall with no fear. There was no doubt that from that point on her life would never be the same again, and that was something she knew for a fact, and as she began to feel a sort of pain hit her like a knife. It wasn’t until she saw a mother and child the next day that she realized what the feeling was. She was missing her parents, but since she knew there was no hope of ever being reunited with them. Catraoine decided to put her head down and regain the life she’d lost, and after working many years on rebuilding her life.

She slowly began to forget about her family, however, as she rushed out of work one night to meet up with the rest of her faction members who’d gone to watch the comet. Catraoine was left in a pool of her own blood when she was hit by a car; and although it broke her heart to know she missed something as beautiful as a comet. All she was really glad off that she’d not died that night, after all, her work in Evermore City was only beginning, and to have it cut short over something like a car crash. That was something she just couldn’t accept, but as she got help from the members of her faction, and soon got back on her feet.

There was just a part of her that would likely never be the same again, especially since she couldn’t remember anything about her family, though not that it really mattered. After all, her family did cause her to leave the place she called home, so why would she want to even think about those horrible people? Although unable to really think about when only one year after her accident she saw a beautiful place known as the Isle of Skye fall. She would never have expected that a place of peace and beauty would fall victim to violence, and when the streets of Evermore City turned black as the Ailward’s mourned their fallen.

Catraoine was left stunned to see how many innocent lives were lost, and if things couldn’t have gotten any worse. A barrier wrapped itself around the city; and although it did cause a lot of people to flee in fear to other parts of the city in hopes of escaping. It was obvious that Evermore City was now a prison for everyone that lived there, but determined to continue her life and try not to let what was happening to hold her back. Catraoine went back to the life she had and finally said goodbye to all the pain from her past, well from the accident she had, and now all she thinks about is what the future will hold for her.
