On the 3rd April 1988, Clarissa and her twin brother, Isaiah were born. It was only a few weeks after they were born that their mother decided to abandon them, thinking and believing that they were both mistakes because they were the result of a one night stand. She wasn’t emotionally stable enough to handle having two kids. She didn’t have the capability for it and with the thought that she would be a bad influence on them, she left. Leaving the two babies to go into foster care and grow up thinking they weren’t loved, being separated from the other.
Growing up in plenty of different foster homes, Clarissa jumped around from place to place with her temper always getting her into trouble. It was the same incident over and over, spending a few weeks in a new home and being the ‘goody two shoes’ she was told to be before something bad happened with one of the other foster kids; snapping from being the person she was told to be to the person she naturally was with her temper getting the better side of her. Every foster home grew fed up with it and that was when she would be shipped off once again to try out a new home. Clarissa tried her best to maintain her anger but it wasn’t easy.
From a young age, Clarissa knew she wasn’t the usual average child. She could tell from the two dark thick scars that spread across her shoulder blades which no one else had and the purple tint to her eyes. She come up with the possibilities that the scars could’ve been an accident when she was younger that gave her the two scars but she knew the scars wouldn’t be the unusual dark colour like hers were. It was when other girls in her new foster home started bullying Clarissa that she knew she wouldn’t last long before being moved again. Which she was very true about. It only took one more comment from one of the girls about the scars before she snapped. Her purple tinted eyes seemed to glow as she stared at the female in front of her, her anger boiling to the brim before the girl in front of her seemed to start choking on her own breath, the girls eyes going wide as she started to scratch at her at her throat as if doing that would allow her to breathe.
Clarissa didn’t know what was happening the the girl, one moment she was fine and then the next she looked as if she was about to choke to death. Clarissa’s eyes widened with shock as the girl choked on her own breath, shock filling her body as all the other girls surrounding them started screaming in panic with some shouting at her. All she could hear was blood pounding in her ears mixed with the names they were shouting at her, witch being amongst them. With the shock outweighing the anger, Clarissa breathed in deeply and watched as the girl soon started breathing. Eyes wide, Clarissa didn’t know what else to do except run from the room and hide herself at the discovery of what she had just done.
It was the next day that Clarissa was moved to a different foster home, this time around though, there were no other children. Just her. Her time grew lonely with the days she spent locked up in the room she was given. The only possessions she had were the letter she had from her birth mother, the same mother who left her and her brother a few weeks after birth because she couldn’t handle it. With the information of having a twin brother who she was separated from at birth, Clarissa tried her best to keep her anger to a minimum which helped with not having any other children around.
For the years she spent in the childrenless foster home excluding her, the people who took her in trained her for many things she didn’t know. They taught her things that no teenanger should know. How to handle weapons, guns and everything involved in the sorts. They taught her how to fight and to keep herself safe in any situation, preparing her for anything that could happen. Growing stronger as months passed, Clarissa grew to contain and control her emotions, keeping her anger to a minimum and taking it out when she was training.
On the day of her 21st birthday, the day Clarissa had been waiting to come for years; she knew she was free. There was nothing else there for her in that house and she knew everything that they could teach her. With the only possessions she had packed, these being only clothes and the letter she’d kept from her biological mother, Clarissa was ready to leave the house she’d spent the last few years in. It was before she left that the truth came out from the two that looked after her throughout the years; the reasons to why they trained her over the years and everything she’d been prepared for. They told her about who they truly were, how they were part of an organization that ran throughout the States and that they had trained her to join once she was old enough.
With the persuasion from the two, Clarissa agreed to join the organization of assassins. She didn’t have anything else in her life and having no family pushed her further into saying yes. With everything settled on her joining, Clarissa soon joined the assassins league and with more training to finalise everything she had learnt throughout the years, she completed her first assignment and then every other assignment she was given after that. She grew to learn to ignore her emotions and hide them away instead of letting herself feel, knowing that at some point something will get to her.
It wasn’t long after she joined the league that she met Isaiah, another assassin in the league. From what Clarissa had heard from plenty of others, he was one of the best there was in the league and that he never missed a shot which was good for only being trained upon joining. He did his job properly and that was they wanted. Someone who went in and got the job done. Simple as that. That was all that was needed. Getting the job done and moving onto the next one without anything else involved.
After having finished a few more assignments, Clarissa was going through her things when she found the letter and picture from her biological mother. Reading through it brought back the many memories of when she was reading it as a young child, huddled away from the other children as they called her names and picked on her for the many aspects that made her, herself. Tucking the note safely away again and keeping the picture on her, Clarissa knew then that she didn’t want a life as an assassin anymore. She didn’t want to continue on the way she was going unless it was absolutely necessary and needed. Most of all, she wanted to find her family. Find her twin brother and then find the parents who abandoned them if they could. Nothing could change her mind.
When Clarissa heard that Isaiah was also leaving the organization after finishing one last mission, Clarissa asked him where he would be heading to. So when she got the answer that he was leaving to look for his family, she really didn’t expect it; knowing him to the be the person who did what they were told and when to do it. Upon saying that she also wanted to leave the league to find her own family too, Clarissa pulled the picture out to show him, telling him it was the only thing to lead her to her family. With Isaiah looking at the picture he had also seen so many times from his own copy, he looked from the image to Clarissa before asking her how she got the picture and with her answer of telling him she’d had it forever, realisation struck as the as they added it all together. Isaiah was Clarissa’s twin. They weren’t alone because they had each other.
After that moment, Clarissa agreed to help Isaiah on his last mission so they could both be released from the organisation and start looking for their family together. So that was what happened. After killing the leader of the assassins league, they were released from their jobs and off they went, on the search for their family.
All the leads they got, led to people, associates of Abraxas. When they asked for their father’s whereabouts, and they didn’t agree to co-operate, that’s when the twisted side of Isaiah's mind consumed him, and he would torture them with Clarissa's help, until they finally agreed to reveal some sort information that would lead them to their father. Of course, by the end of his torture sessions, Isaiah would kill them. He was rather enjoying the power that he had, and the things he could do. Even killing seemed fun to him, though Clarissa somewhat controlled it. Finally, all that information led them to one particular city, Evermore City.
It was only after Isaiah revealed himself to Cornelia Bradford, their half-sister that Clarissa got to meet her. Although jealous at first of the fact that Cornelia grew up knowing both her parents, she soon realized that her fate was much worse than the twins'. A sudden rage for Abraxas burned in her veins, fuelled by him abandoning them. Only time will tell what is to come when the twins meet their father.
