During a family vacation in Scotland, Emery met a charming young man by the man of Lockley Vasilik; their connection was nearly instantaneous. Unlike most love stories this was not one of quick burning passion and love at first sight, this was a slow blooming much like the flowers in spring. They would spend hours together, talking and chatting and enjoying one another’s company. Always in secret however, as Lockley’s family frowned up Emery’s kind and would have seen any connection with their ilk as imprudent. Emery was part of a clan of supernatural creatures, Initia who were able to manipulate the elements. Emery herself had mastery over fire and though it scared him it also fascinated Lockley.

When summer came to an end the two promised to keep in contact, trading letters back and forth throughout the year. The following summer saw the two youngsters back together, each thrilled to see the other for their bond had grown strong despite the distance. Time seemed to flow like water, passing through their fingers without meaning to. Four summers would pass in much the same way: secret rendezvous, tearful goodbyes, letters passed, and joyful reunions. It was on their fourth summer that Lockley and Emery were discovered, his father incensed by his disobedience dragged him off kicking and screaming. Emery knew in that moment that she loved him, her heart breaking at the thought of never seeing him again.

With the support of Emery’s family the couple ran away together, at an age that they could make decisions for themselves. The couple moved to an outer city in Scotland, a small tight knit community that was off the beaten track. It took some time for Emery to adjust as she had never been so long without the company of her own kind. It didn’t take long for the two to be wed and a year later was pregnant with their first child. Emery and Lockley both were thrilled though the usual nerves were present as with all first time parents. Still they were proud to look upon their firstborn, Dresden Vasilik. Four years would pass before they would welcome their second child Elyscia and another four before their third and final child, Jaspir was born.

A panicked Dresden came running to his mother one summer of his fourteenth year with a burning sensation in the small of his back. Emery was relieved to know that at least one of her children would inherit her legacy, teaching him the history of his people and how to control his powers. Following him Elysica was also an Initia, gaining her tattoo around the same time though little Jaspir remained human. Training two young fire specialist by herself was difficult and though they had a few hiccups along the road her children eventually mastered their elements to perfection. Dresden remained at home until he turned 20 and could no longer control his wanderlust. He wanted to get out and see the world, experience new things, and find his people.

For five years the young Initia traveled the globe, gaining worldly knowledge and experience while sending postcards home to his precious family. Eventually he found Evermore, a city deeply inhabited by supernaturals including a large clan of his own kind. Through them he learned of the other four elements, he integrated with other Initia taking great delight in being able to practice his skills outside without fear. Star struck by all the different species Dresden was confused by the blood feud between the Phoenix and his people, often voicing his opinion as to the foolhardyness of such a venture. Still he remains loyal to his clan, maintaining his voice of reason as a member raised away from such politics.

It surprised him just as much as anyone when the comet hit, knocking every supernatural being unconscious under it’s powerful. The Initia found themselves gifted with a second element, Dresden himself given sway over the Earth. He found it incredibly calming to have such a grounded element to contrast his other more wiley side. With the same dedication he applied himself to master this second element, becoming just as proficient in it’s handling as his first.

Dresden then spent a lot of time helping other Initia with their element taking his mother’s patience and steady hand to help other learn their own. There was a lot of secrets behind the history of the Initia tribe. The war between the Initia and the Phoenix was reaching a boiling point as lives were lost on both sides. It took the interference of the Ailward Aspects to calm the rising tides, their penchant for peace pushing all of the Ambassador’s across the city to sign a treaty ensuring peace. For 6 months the peace held, calling about a celebration marking the longest held period of relative calm within the city. To mark the occasion the Ambassador’s threw together a gathering with a lantern lighting ceremony to commemorate the accomplishment. The lanterns served as a way of remembrance to all those that have been lost, for people to let go of the past, and step forward into the future. It was a marvelous sight, watching the 100’s of flickering lanterns raise into the sky floating on the breeze however awe turned to horror as the lanterns exploded inciting panic and injuries. A magical barrier sprang up along immediately, trapping the denizens of Evermore inside with no clue as to why or how or who. Much like everyone else Dresden is struggling to understand the reason behind this development, and is doing his best to help his people through this uncertain time.
