Name: Ela Redfern
Faceclaim: Bianca Suarez
Species: Initia
Age: 22
Elements: Earth and Air

Living up in a small house with only one parental figure present, Ela grew up surrounded only by her father with no clue as to who her mother was or where the maternal figure she needed in her life was. The only clue she had to what her mother's appearance had looked like came from the lone photography that hung on the wall, showing her father and a beautiful woman who shared the same bright emerald eyes and coppery brown hair as Ela did. Without the presence of the picture, Ela would be clueless on her mother’s appearance and was grateful that her father hadn’t taken the photo down, away from his daughter.

Ela’s father was a peculiar man in some senses. He was quiet, almost closed off in a way as well as being a serious man who muttered the most useless things throughout the day. That was a trait he passed onto his daughter, causing the girl from a young age to grow up with the habit of muttering random things. The supposed paternal figure rarely spoke to Ela, always having the tail end of a cigar to his lips which caused Ela to have to grow up quicker than any other normal child. She gained her independence and managed to live around her father, feeling in some sense as if she were alone, somehow knowing she wouldn’t be getting any attention from her father anytime soon.

It wasn't until the tender age of thirteen that Ela first discovered exactly what she could do. She had snuck into her father's room while he was out, this being a place she hadn't dared venture into before but the young teen wanted answers to the many questions she had. Rooting around his room was how Ela discovered a box marked "My dearest Ivy". Immediately it sparked Ela’s interests so she opened the box to take a look inside. The box contained pictures of the beautiful women that hung in the living room and in some, a very small Ela was also present.

Ela was looking through the photos, picking up each one seeing what it was of and who was in it. She loved looking through old photos, although all of these photos are new to her. She hadn’t seen any of them before. One picture stood out in particular to Ela. She saw one with her mother in it, she knew her mother was called Ivy. Her fingers traced the picture as she was looking at it more closely wondering about the significance of it. It was like something was pulling her towards the picture making her look more closely at the details of it.

Something that caught her eye of the picture of her mum. She saw that her mother was holding out her hand to a small rose bush. Ela could see from looking at the picture that the blurred rose bush seemed like it was both small and large at the same time. She didn’t know what it meant but she knew that there was something more to it. Like there was a meaning behind it. She could feel a slightly tingling in her her fingertips. Ela looked over to the window focusing on her dad’s spider plant that was hanging up by the window. She didn’t know what was happening but she felt like there was something about it. It was like with her mother in the picture. She stretched her hand out towards it. She closed her eyes for a few seconds and as she opened them she saw the plant leaves were growing. The small plant had now grown into a big plant. It was continuing to grow before there was no more room in the pot. Moments later there was an explosion, the plant pot had exploded as the plant was too big for it.

Ela couldn’t make sense of all of it, she thought she was losing her mind, she locked herself in her room not knowing what to do. For the past few weeks she had been feeling a lot of pain in her lower back, she had just been trying to push past and forget it. She noticed something out of the corner of her eye that caught her attention. Ela saw a tattoo on her lower back, she was shocked and confused. She had no idea of how or when it had gotten there. She would know if she got a tattoo that she hadn’t. A thought come across her mind as she was trying to place everything together, Maybe this was all connected somehow, this was the only thing that could explain the strange occurrences.

She waited until her father got back from work to see if she could get the answers that she had been looking for. Ela waited until her father had sat down at the kitchen table, that he normally did. Ela slammed down the box of photos and other few belongings in front of him. Her father stared at the box for a long time and then back to Ela. She opened her mouth to demand an explanation but she was focused on something else. As she rose her hand the lily that she had picked earlier that morning, it opened in full bloom. She had no control over her powers, every plant she touched her made contact with grew.

Her father was having none of it, he slammed his hands onto the table and stood up quickly. With a face full of fire, anger and rage. He never talked to Ela like this but he decided to take a stand against all of this. Her father said “I will not have you being one of those monsters like your mother. Get out of my house. Get out out of my house. Get out and don’t you come back!”. She couldn’t believe what just happened, her father had just disowned her, blaming her mother for all of this. In Ela’s rage all of the plants from outside found their way into the kitchen. Tree branches, wines, flowers and all sorts of pants broke through the windows and into the kitchen. Scared of what was happening Ela ran out of the house and into the forest.

She decided that it would be better if she was kept away from everything. She was still trying to learn all of this out. Ela didn’t want to hurt anyone. As years past she learn more about who she was and where her family had came from. She had met someone who was like her, an initia. Ela was told about the species, who they were and what powers they possessed. She was taught of how to control her powers she that she didn’t have to hide away from civilization. Ela could remember that she was old of a place where there were others like her and other supernatural species living all together in one city. She decided that after living in the forest away from the world for all those years. It was time for her to live a semi normal life, surrounded by others like her. Ela packed up all the belongings she had left and headed to Evermore City. To start another new beginning.
