Étienne was born to the de L'Isle aristocratic family. A family, at least the human side of the de L'Isle, have lived on the Île de Ré for as long as they can remember. After the angelic bloodline had been introduced into the family, the de L'Isle's have been using their power and money to gather information and increase themselves even further, not for personal gain but for a better understanding of themselves and to use what they can to eliminate what they believed to be a blight on society, organized crime. It hadn't taken long for the family to create an expanding family tree, only Étienne and his sister coming from the direct lineage.

Years upon years the family had worked behind the scenes to obliterate gangs, mafias and mobs starting in the Île de Ré and afterwards working throughout France. Upon rare occasions, members of the family had taken matters into their own hands when the law had been corrupted, fearful, or simply could not take action. Étienne had been born alongside his sister, ___, both specializing in combat due to the teachings of their mother. Their father having passed away due to an unsuccessful raid of a mob which strangely enough should have been easy. Even without their mother's permission, their grandmother had informed them that they had suspicions of supernatural beings within the mob that their father had attacked.

At the eve of Étienne's 20 birthday, ten minutes before midnight; screams, gunfire, and battle cries could be heard within the mansion and the surrounding familial neighbourhood. Leaving his bed and rushing through they always and rooms to find his mother, even Étienne had his few fights. His grandmother was right, what he was forced to battle with I his first fight was a lycanthrope. The beast towering over his aunt, snarling in his direction. As horrifying as it was, battling the beast had been easier than Étienne had originally thought. Meeting with his mother and closest relations. From what was left of intelligence, his mother discovered that the mob attacking was also a long bloodline of Lycans. Forced to retreat, his mother made the plan to fight back and buy time while Étienne and his sister escaped, commanding their grandmother to go as well and watch over the two. Within a fortnight, Étienne's entire family, even his generation of 26 had been reduced to 2, Étienne and his sister, smuggled out by their grandmother. It had been known that the supernatural mobsters had worked hard to discover the de L'Isle's and eliminate them.

Since then what was left of the de L'Isle's; Étienne, his sister and grandmother, had moved and lived within Evermore, hoping to wash their hands of what had happened to their family and start anew. Still determined to continue what they started of eliminating organized crime, only it was in a different city.
