Fear corrupted the minds of the weak and strong alike, ravaging the world from the inside. There are very rare few who will truly have the ability to shield themselves from the darkness of creation that cycles around and around, because without destruction there would be no creation. With creation comes change, evolution; The ability to mold someone or something into an almost unrecognizable being. Look at the Earth for example, the Dinosaurs were once the apex predator of the world before they were wiped out by something bigger and far more dangerous. Then came the ice age, where freezing temperatures washed over the planet, leaving only the hardest of creatures to survive in life threatening climates.

All of this, creation, destruction, evolution, all stems from the one common entity; Fear. Fear is at the heart of every decision, each revolution and uprising. All of this is how the story of Gerard Vados shall begin. First came creation.

Born in 1982, Gerard had been brought up in harsh environments, being forced to move around the country, sometimes the world, with his small family of four. He had a mother, father and younger sister. Gerard always kept a close unyielding connection with his family, especially his sister, Charlie. Charlie was born only two short years after Gerard, so each early memory contained something of her within himself. Those memories in particular would be cherished far above any others.

Gerards father, Lionel, had always been a cruel, unforgiving man. He would drink late at night when all others slept, often driving himself into a bed ridden comatose the very next day. Lionel very rarely spent quality time with his wife or children, always working or ignoring the responsibilities of parenthood. All these things could have been forgiven were it not for his deepest darkest pleasure; The pain of others. Unlike most fathers, Lionel enjoyed the pain that he had the power to inflict on others, most importantly pain put upon his children by himself.

Of course, like most mothers driven into a chain of domestic violence she merely stood by, watching while her son and daughter were beaten, Gerard worse than anyone. Lionel would somtimes beat Gerard so severely he would have ended up in hospital if his father had allowed word to spread that his son had even been touched at all. All of this was kept secret to the public, forcing the family to wear masks, hiding their true feelings out in the world, always too scared to do otherwise.

Next came destruction, driven to a climax by the prime suspect, fear. One night, while drinking himself to near death, Lionel decided his daughter would be the perfect punching bag for his self loathing and inner rage. Gerard loved his family, even his father, but he never let his father get away with continuinly harming his sister. Unfortunately, after stepping inbetween them Gerard recieved a sucker punch from his father, directly to his face. Usually his blows would connect with his lower body, somewhere that ould be covered by clothing. This was too far, apparently the whole family thought so for both his sister and mother came to his rescue, attempting to restrain Lionel.

His sister, being very young at the time, collided with several flying fists from Lionel and lay seemingly unconcious at the floor, not daring to move out of fear. Their mother however refused to go down, refused to let this demon destroy their family. She took hit after hit, but still she stood tall as if nothing could phase her, at least until Lionel grabbed a knife from the kitchen bench, plunging the steel straight into her chest. The blade struck her heart instantly, the beating of such ceased before she even hit the floor.

Finally, evolution. Gerard gazed onto his mothers body, dropping from the air with the knife still sticking from her flesh, blood gushing from the wound, it felt as if the entire world was closing in around him, like the walls of reality were collapsing in ontop of him. At the time he had no idea it was him who screamed, but all he could remember from the next few minutes in time Gerard heard shrill, deep screams. His father tumbled over as pain struck him like a bolt of lightning, with the force of a thousand swords being plunged through his chest. Gerard had unlocked the powers hidden deep within him since birth, the heart of a Nephilim roared in his chest, putting a stop to the monster that had murdered his mother.

Although he stopped him, Lionel did not simply die, no, such a death would be but a mercy to the filth he was. Without attempting to, Gerard had inflicted so much mental pain onto his father that he had driven him insane to the degree of constant restraint and sedation to this very day. While all this played out, Gerards little sister also had pain put down upon her, for the entire atmosphere around Gerard had been filled with an aura of explosive magnitude, he destroyed the young mind she had, killing her almost instantaniously.

Gerard ran, ran until his young fourteen year old legs could take him, which happened to end up states over from his home. After witnessing your life being swept into darkness what else does one do but run? Gerard had been reported missing for years, having never been found or framed as a suspect of his familys murder, investigators simply assumed he had been kidnapped. However, the city Gerard landed himself in is where the next stage of his life shall begin. He found a life for himself here, in Evermore, though it began slow and living on the street Gerard evolved into a powerful, talented and cunning young Nephilim.

Today in 2016, Gerard Vados leads a section of the ECPD as Police Captain, using his position to cover up supernatural occurances in Evermore, resolving them himself outside the rules of the law, often taking down supernatural entities choosing to take the course of evil rather than good. Despite his earlier life, Gerard still grew up to resemble his father more than he thought, he has a controlling and strong aura around him, showing his natural leadership skills through his style of leading the ECPD. Gerard uses fear to intimidate his suspects and enemies, finding that in his past it had forced him to choose decisions he would never have without fear being flooded into him.

Gerard is one of those people that can say they have the ability to resist the dark pull of fear. After everything that has happened to him in such a short amount of time, he has taught himself to wield fear as a weapon, rather than have it used against him. With this ability Gerard finds himself to be one of the most powerful beings in Evermore.
