Janessa was born into a loving family. Her parents adored one another and her brother was her best friend. At least until she was 9, it was that year that her mother passed away and her father seemed to always want Dalton and her out of his sight after her death. It was as though they were burdens to him and served no purpose but to pain him as he was forced to look at him and think about the death of their mother. Unable to bear it any longer he sent the two to live with their grandmother... Janessa never saw him again.

Growing up with Nana was painful for her. Sure, she loved her grandmother, but every girl's first love is her father and hers had irrevocably broken her heart into two the night he sent her and her brother packing. Nana was good to them though and Dalton made sure that Janessa had everything she would need. In many ways he was like a father to her but he had other roles in her life as well: her brother, her friend.

When Nana passed away, Janessa was again forced to pack her bags and move away from a place that had started to become home to her. Begrudgingly she did as she was told fore she respected her brother and what he said goes. He led her to Evermore City where they moved into an apartment then went in search for a woman named Saskiah. Janessa hadn't known why the man was so important but if Dalton was this eager to find him, he must be pretty important indeed.

Dalton had seemed to like the new place but to Janessa it was just that. A new place. She feared if she did grow to like it she would be forced to leave again and she wasn't sure she could bear the thought of having to leave another home. Months had passed before Dalton had found Saskiah but Nessa could tell that something was off. Dalton had began to act rather strange, thrashing around in his sleep and sweating when the weather was nearly freezing, she worried he was falling ill and would soon pass as Nana did.

As time went on Janessa began to give the city a chance and like any teenage girl she had her "bump into's with the wrong crowd and naturally she'd made some decisions that she regrets to this day but all in all, she'd proud of who she's grown up to be, even if everyone else isn't. She was in her late teens when she too feel ill (or so she had assumed) Dalton explained to her that she was just coming of age and the shifters were claiming her. He'd stay up with her throughout the nights and hold her hand when she thought the night terrors would consume her, of course they never did, not in the way she expected them to at least.

Now 19 years of age Nessa has accepted and learned more of her shifter life; she no longer fears it but embraces it. She's still close with her brother, as she plans to always stay, for he's all she has left but she's friends with others from Evermore city and the place has become the most welcoming home she'd ever been at.
