The weather is always something which was debated upon by those who remember the day well in Roswell, New Mexico. Granted they just believe they remember the day well since what they know and what occurred are two very different things.

The truth of the night in question is rather simple, the sky was overcast, dark clouds blocking out the full moon which hung in the sky the moon light which should be bright dimmed by the weather. There was the rumble of thunder of a summer storm in the distance, heat lightening flashing miles away. Bert Wilson had just finished checking on the cattle of his ranch and was sitting on the porch enjoying the feeling of the coming storm, the radio was on inside music drifting through the air as he nursing a bottle of whiskey.

Lightening flashed once more before a new sound was heard as a bright light shot across the sky and made impact a shutter moving through the earth. The bottle dropped from Bert’s hand shattering as he saw the small path of destruction, a broken wire fence and dirt cratered not far from the frightened herd of cattle who ran making an escape. Shotgun loaded and in hand Bert slowly made his way towards the crater in the earth expecting to see part of a plane or maybe some meteor rock. The reality was far more shocking a bright light nearly blinding him as he tried to look upon what had fallen.

After a few minutes Bret’s eyes had adjusted slightly and he realized the radiant light was coming off of a man who was huddled in pain surrounded by the earth which seemed to hug his fallen body. This was the night Bret Wilson stopped drinking since only a person in a drunken stupor would believe a glowing man fell from the sky. Sliding into the small crater Bret was easily able to pick up the young man being used to manual labor and moving bales of hay and moving calfs. Bret had no idea who or what the man was and though he was often the first to gossip in town there was something about the young man who rested on his couch that told him to keep this to himself.

When a week had past and the young man had yet to open his eyes Bret had considered calling the local doctor but he hadn’t a clue how to describe or explain what had happened or who the young man was. The unknown man on the couch was a secret which began to wear on the older man and on the day he was going to call for the doctor, the young man finally awoke eyes wide and in a state of panic. Pain seemed to be radiating through the young man’s body as he looked around having no idea where he was, who he was or who the stranger staring at him in confusion happened to be.

There was nothing within the depths of the young man’s mind and Bert hadn’t a clue how to help so he introduced himself and slowly began to ask the young man questions. The more questions he asked the more upset the young man seemed to get before the young man finally admitted he didn’t know anything at all. Thinking that if he showed the young man where he landed it may help to kick start his memories Bert lead him outside and showed him the crater in the earth that was left from his arrival. Being a man of little education and a lot of theories Bert began to name off everything he could possibly think of that the young man could be or what had happened to him. Bert was under the impression that the young man had been experimented on by the government but the young man didn’t even know what that meant.

Bert spent days acting like the Queen from the story of Rumpelstiltskin trying to guess the young man’s name as he began to show him how to work the land. One night while the two were sitting out on the porch looking up at the sky a name seemed to be whispered in the back of his mind. Julius Ramirez, the young man voices this name to Bert and the older man scoffed telling him that sounded ridiculous but he started to call him Juls nonetheless.

The two formed a strange friendship Bert becoming a father figure in Julius’s eyes, having taken him in when he fell to the earth and asking for nothing in return. Both wished that they had answers and often Julius would find himself looking at the strange tattoo on the inside of his left wrist, his fingers trailing over the markings longing to know what they meant since they seemed to be from a previous life he didn’t remember.

Gazing at the evening stars one night he lifted his wrist matching a constellation to the markings etched on his skin, Bert told him that constellation was named Aries the ram. It was the constellation the the horoscope symbol was named after but Julius didn’t really know what that meant. It was something Julius began to look into but at the same time, Bert wasn’t the only one to see the bright light fall from the sky the night of his arrival and many in town were beginning to ask questions. Bert told those in town he had seen the light but he didn’t know what had happened to it but people began to get curious and soon journalists were crawling through the town looking for a story. It was then that Bert knew that Julius couldn’t stay, the young man was still new to the world with so much to learn but their time had run out.

The evening Julius was set to leave a stranger arrived at the ranch, he said nothing and Julius remembered nothing but feeling a sharp and shooting pain before darkness set in. Soon the town of Roswell was filled with different stories the government saying it was just a weather balloon which had crash landed and Bert Wilson remembered nothing of the young man he had cared for.

When Julius awoke he was in cage surrounded by so many others and panic and confusion set it. He had only ever seen cages on the ranch and Bert used those to catch and hold things he usually meant to kill later but Julius didn’t know why he was in one. So many questions left his lips and there was so much fear within him, the Guards which left him food never answered any of his questions but those held captive with him did. Many were far older than he was and explained to him that he was a Celestial, a fallen star of sorts. They told him many wonderful and extraordinary things including tales of a woman named Ophelia, some believing her to be dead and others believing she would one day free them.

Julius was trapped in a place call the Isle of Skye, a place which according to others had once been a safe haven for them. So many were bitter of the turning of the tide and their captivity by people they had once trusted. Despite feeling the cold sting of bitterness which sought to sink in he fought against it remember the stories told of old and he held onto hope that this would not always be his life. It was a hope that many had given up on having been imprisoned for far longer than he had.

The faith and hope that Julius had held onto eventually paid off when the Isle began to shake a feeling of Celestial power flowing over the Isle. Ophelia, the wayfinder so many had spoken of wasn’t dead and came to free her people. Julius remember the moment his eyes landed upon her that she was what he had been waiting for and the stories which he had held onto were more than stories but facts of a woman who truly cared for those under her charge.

As the Isle fell and the Celestial were freed he knew that he still had so much to learn having been locked away before he had ever had the chance to truly tap into his own abilities. He saw the elder Celestials as a well of knowledge that he was hoping to tap into and when he was informed they were moving to the same city those who held them now called home he was afraid. However that fear diminished as he looked at Ophelia and he knew she would never lead them astray.
