Marlena Monroe was born in Savannah, Georgia, in early summer; she had two older brothers, a housewife for a mother, and her father worked at a bank. Her father's job helped keep the family wealthy and kept the Monroe name strong. She was born beautiful and constantly praised she hated ever minute of it, they were making her vain and self-centered as a result. Her parents took pride in her looks, which she plastered on the smile they wanted and played the part so very well. She did enjoy her father's pleasure in buying her beautiful clothes, her girlfriends' envy, the admiration of every man she passed made her stomach turn. The result of all this attention was that Marlena tended to be self-conscience, rude, and mouthy. Making her mother cold toward her daughter. However, unlike her social-climbing parents, who always wanted more out of life despite their already elevated status, Marlena was just happy in the knowledge that she was Marlena Monroe, and that she had place in a world where she could go far. She was, however, bothered by the superior beauty of others, but because she only saw them in passing, she did not let that get the better of her.

One day, Marlena's mother had her dress up to deliver her father's forgotten lunch to his job, in the hopes that the son of the bank's owner would take notice of her, and it worked. Ryerson Pierce II sent roses to Marlena and, after making a comment that her eyes were like violets, Marlena began receiving them, too. Their relationship was solely based on physical attraction, as Ryerson was often too busy at the bank. They became engaged and one week before the wedding, Marlena visited her good friend Vera, who she envied for her baby boy. One day wanting a large happy family. At one point, when Vera's husband kissed her, Marlena finally noticed the lack of love in her relationship with Ryerson that was so obvious in Vera's. While walking home, shaken by her thoughts about her loveless relationship, Marlena stumbled across her drunken fiancé and his equally drunk friends; Ryerson bragged about his fiance's beauty which eventually led to Marlena being attacked before being left in the street to die. Drunken homeless men stealing from her unconscious body while a boiling rage bubbled inside her, awakening a life long family secret.

Marlena was found by man, the scent of blood having attracted him to the dying girl. He carried her to a abandon apartment in the heart of the alleys where he tended to her wounds, cleaning her up, and warming her body temperature back to it's normal number. When all else started failing the man bit Marlena turning her into what he was... An Ailuranthrope... worsening the pain she was already in. She awoke days later to the voices of men arguing with the one who had saved her named George about the saving and turning of Marlena. Whoever the other man he was unhappy with the idea that George had changed her in the hopes that she could be part of their pack: Marlena rose furious, darting to a corner in a panic, screaming and throwing anything she could get her red stained hands on. George stood with a knowing smile and praised Marlena of her inner fighter and told her what he did, Marlena was not thrilled her human life was simply stolen from her, that all her hopes and dreams were crushed, but grateful she still was she was still on this earth... Just not as Marlena had hoped.

Marlena's unhappy mood increased with her now improved beauty, her eyes were more distinctive, her figure more toned out, because it meant she was no longer human and more attention would be on her. Marlena soon decided to learn the ways of the Ailuranthropes, what she was and how she was going to live and what would happen to her on the next full moon. And when that night came Marlena wish she didn't survive the bite, that George left her there to die, the pain was unbearable and Marlena screamed blood curddling scream after scream until she was transformed into a lion. With time the pain lessened and her screams weren't as deafening, she got better and more in touch with her new found gifts, but when Marlena laid her head to rest at night she weeped over her lost life. It wasn't that she hated George for what he did to her, though her disappointment towards him was strong, it was what came before all of this. Ryerson.

Marlena avenged her death by driving Ryerson friends one at a time to insanity. Having saved Royce for last, Marlena donned her bridal gown for dramatic effect and found him locked in a windowless room with a thick, vault-like door guarded by two men. Luring the guards outside, Marlena entered the room where she tortured Ryerson to death. Though she killed seven men, she was very careful to not spill even the smallest drop of their blood, knowing that she wouldn't be able to get the image out of her mind and repulsed by the idea of having any part of them inside her.

After her revenge, Marlena was met with her so called pack who had kicked her out for breaking the rules so willingly. Trying to explain herself they left Marlena alone in the street just as she was once left before, George though looked at the pain filled woman, and took her into his arms and whispered into her ear. " you need to go to Evermore...". George went back to the pack homes and gathered her things, driving Marlena up to Evermore City. Along the way he made Marlena promise to listen to what was to be her new pack, to never ever kill another human being again, to be what Marlena wanted to be as a human. Promising Marlena knew she couldn't be part of any pack, that she was to much of a flight risk now to be near anyone, so when they stopped for gas in Tennessee Marlena ran.

Two years later and living in secret, Marlena stumbled across a young man named Eric Northwood being mauled by a bear outside of Bristol, Tennessee. Eric features reminded her of George, and, because of this, Marlena chose to rescue the dying man. Marlena shifted and took down the Grizzly winning the battle with wounds of her own to nurse but she was quick to help the man. Marlena carried him and drove over one hundred miles to George, who helped her turn him into a Ailuanthrope at her request. Eric accepted his new status quite well, and became Marlena's new love. They rarely separated after this and were that way for the next couple of years; the two having found in the other something the both needed, traveling to various places before he took her to Louisiana were Eric was from was wonderful. Marlena got to travel and see places she never heard of, when they arrived in Baton Rouge the couple checked into a hotel for the night before going to meet his family. It was then a loud couple of pops were heard outside, Eric jumped up and ran to see what it was. In a state of panic Marlena followed only to be told to wait inside the hotel room. Waiting impatiently she shook her head and ran after Eric only to see him go down in pain, leaping from the banister running to him. Taking him in her arms, she held Eric til sirens were heard, and the EMT's pried his limp corpse from her arms.

It took the next couple of months of living on the out skirts of Evermore before Marlena started following the ambassador around working up the courage to ask to stay. Upon Arrival at the home of the ambassador Marlena felt the fear and vulnerability that made her act out, though she looked to the man and uttered out a " i need help... "letting her eyes do the rest of the talking. Skeptically Marlena joined the faction, got her tattoo, and did everything she was suppose to, but she yet was a handful and was still reluctant to trust the ambassador and the help he provided so she stubbornly gave him a slight hard time, she didn't talk much to anyone she tried to venture out and meet. During the long period of her new vow of silence life, Marlena developed a passion for collecting cars and discovered to be a brilliant mechanic. Busying herself to fix up a car from nothing Marlena attended the local university, and earned a degree in business, and also studied medicine to keep her desire to help others strong. Deciding to venture out she got a job working at the bar where she worked on getting he socialite personality back and maybe simmer down her temper. Marlena is still learning to appreciate life as a Ailuranthrope and her new life as well, as she had gotten "half of her happy ending". Still it is a daily battle accepting all the new change that has come upon her...
