Nevaeh was always beautiful even as a child. Born and raised in Oakland, her mother and father fawned over their beautiful child, showing her off to the rest of the town. They raised her with the belief that you could get anything you wanted as long as you looked good doing it. So she grew up with this one belief and sure enough she ended up with everything she could ever wanted. Lots of friends, more money than she could spend, captain of the cheer-leading squad, student council president and president of the town’s beautification committee. It was heaven or at least that’s what she made it look like, it was all about appearances to her family and only staying with the group her parents wanted to, never going out of the small circle. Neveah used to have to put on a mask in order to continue living the life her parents expected her to live, going after things she didn’t really care about. Time and time again she put aside the things she cared about just to avoid disappointing her parents and the people around her, even though she pretty much had it all, she heard the whispers and when "friends" lied to her face.

When her mother tried to convince her to drop out of school in the 7th grade, Nevaeh couldn’t take it anymore. That was the first time she had ever pushed back against her parents’ wishes but it wasn’t the last. She grew more and more stubborn, fighting with them at every turn. Eventually her mother gave up on her, retreating back into the modeling world and Nevaeh was left to face her father on her own. They had never been close and when she started to defy them, their relationship grew even tenser. The day she brought Riley home to meet the family was the first time her father had ever struck her. She was shocked at what had just happened and she became frightened of him, worried that he would hit her again. Nevaeh gave in to his wishes and stopped seeing Riley without any explanation. She started dating a guy named Brian, someone her father had picked for her. His parents and her parents were friends and they had already planned out their future together when she was merely a child.

Unfortunately, that is when life got harder for Nevaeh, one night when her mother wasn't home to take of Nevaeh, she had noticed things about herself she never had. There were scars on her back long ones, and her eyes and this certain purple hue glow to them. These things she never paid attention to, due to the fact her mother would divert the conversation else where, and plus Nevaeh would tune everything out.

Brian and Riley were best friends. After the boys graduated, they got an apartment together. Nevaeh was over there a lot, trying to get away from her parents as much as possible and not think of the scars on her back. It was always awkward between her and Riley even though she acted as though nothing bothered her but the feelings were still there. One accidental kiss later, Nevaeh felt Brian's palm crack across her cheek. When he threatened to tell her father she pleaded with him, begging him to understand that it was an accident and nothing more. Nevaeh was trapped. She was dating a man who at any given notice would send her to the floor with a hit to her cheek and she was living in a home where her parents were forcing her into a certain way of living that she hated. Still there was nothing that she could do.

Things only got worse after the car accident that killed her parents. Despite how her parents treated her, she still loved them and she was absolutely devastated that they were both gone for good. She grew very detached and tried to stay away from Brian, not in any mood to deal with him. He found her and hit her, more than usual, saying that she had been very bad by trying to hide from him. He told her that it was her fault that her parents had died and the guilt overwhelmed her. She took the beating and the little white pill he shoved into her hand later to make her feel better. She graduated from high school only a few weeks later and from there she was in a downward spiral with Brian as her inhibitor. But her experience at keeping up appearances prevented anyone around her to see that she was in trouble and needed help.

She had tried to quit taking the pills but Brian kept forcing them on her. One night she flushed the entire stash down the toilet and told him that she was leaving him for good this time. Brian flew into a rage and hit her, only this time he didn’t stop. She fought him as best as she could but she wasn’t a fighter. The rest of the night is a blur and all she remembered was a pair of strong arms and a bright white light. She woke up in a hospital bed the next morning completely alone. Brian left her a note saying that he had left. She hasn’t seen him since. It was a couple years before she saw Riley again. She had begun to turn her life around, she let Riley train her in combat and she was good at it too. She was applying to different schools, trying to get out of this town and make something of herself. Riley coming back into her life was unexpected but not unwelcome, he convinced Nevaeh to go to a place called Evermore. They were hesitant around each other Nevaeh could tell he was different, a bit rougher around the edges than before, it showed in the way he handled her in combat. One night they ended up going to Evermore on a spur of the moment and Nevaeh didn't regret it.

Now living in the city and still focused on her new life and her self defense training Nevaeh was happy, and when she met the ambassador of the community for Nephilims she was confused at first but once everything was explained it all hit her. How she was good at knowing when her so called friends and people around her lying all the time, her eye color, her scars, every memory of her past hit her. Nevaeh always knew her parents hid things from her but this? a huge chunk of her life just taken from her? When Nevaeh took a break from the meeting with the ambassador Riley gave her a folder of things he stole from her father a while back ago and it held her family history and where Nevaeh came from.

Now with the community by her side Nevaeh was ready to take back her life.
