Bio:
Torrance was the first born child of Margot and David Croft on October 18th surrounded by their tribe. Located in a small part of France the tribe had existed for well over 200 years and had once boasted the largest population of moon shifters the world over. However about 150 years earlier the moon shifters had gone extinct, wiped from the history books with naught but a prophecy to their name. So the tribe waited, waited for the prophecy to be fulfilled, waited for a pair of twins that would awaken the gene for their kind once more.
Margot and David had prayed for a little boy though to their disappointment they carried a little girl. That disappoint turned to happiness the moment they held little Torrance, a small bundle of energy from the moment she came into the world. Her wide chocolatey eye missed nothing, observing everything that went on around her. The Croft’s were a steady voice of reason within the community, their extensive knowledge expanding over generations lending them the confidence to be the highest of advisors to their leaders, the Raymen’s.
Being only a few years younger than the Raymen twins, Torrance often played with them as well as learned with them. The three were schooled together though it quickly became apparently that Saskiah was the stronger of the two. Torrance gained a soft spot for Kiel, their friendship blossoming over the next several years. She would spend time outdoors, doing her duties and learning what she needed before rushing inside to spend time with Kiel. Much to her dismay he never seemed to gain strength, the years only lessening him by each tick of the clock.
As the day for the ceremony drew nearer Torrance realized that she didn’t just care for Kiel, her deep bond with him transcending friendship to a love that could never be. She’d overheard her parents whispering late one night, their voices drifting down the hall conveying the fate that was to befall her beloved friend. Only one twin was believed to make it through the spell and everyone knew who that would be. To save both herself and Kiel the heartbreak, Torrance held her feelings in right to the last day watching in desperation as the spell was cast consigning the man she loved to death.
When it was over Saskiah stood the first moon shifter of nearly 2 centuries, the tattoo on her wrist proudly marking her as such. For a time she stuck around and Torrance hoped against hope that some deep seated gene would awaken and at least make Kiel’s sacrifice worth it. Much to her despair it didn’t and Saskiah left, leaving Torrance to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart.
Things carried on as usual through the tribe, Torrance pulled herself together and committed herself to her studies and fulfilling her role within the tribe. Her soft spoken nature mixed with her commanding presence created a counterpoint personality that was both calm and decisive. She became a voice of reason who chose her words carefully, she didn’t say much most days but when she spoke everyone stopped to listen. Even with her success within her tribe Torrance felt as if something was missing, a piece of herself was cast adrift and left her feeling empty inside.
Her father noticed her distress and encouraged her to go out and find what it was she was missing. To Torrance her restlessness had begun the day Saskiah had left the tribe, so that was where she determined to start. It took a while to track the other woman down, she followed lead after lead through country after country and eventually found herself in America. She’d followed Saskiah to Evermore, Colorado a strange city that much to her surprise boasted a thriving community of supernatural beings.
At the end of her first week in the city she was unpacking some of her belonging when a strange burning sensation came over her left wrist and no matter how hard she rubbed or what she put on it the sensation persisted. Through some effort Torrance was able to push the discomfort away, continuing her search for the one woman that might hold answers. Another week passed as she got closer to finding Saskiah, the size of the city making it impossible to find her any faster without raising suspicion. Amazingly the burning in her wrist subsided and much to her confusion a moon tattoo stood out starkly against her skin and that was the night the visions began.
Frightening, heart wrenching visions that made it hard to sleep and even hard to find rest. At last she found Saskiah, confronting her with all the issues of abandonment and resentment she had been holding in. It was Saskiah that recognized what was happening to Torrance and after the two woman had a heart to heart that cleared the air, the Prima brought her friend to her small tribe to perform the spell. By the end of it Torrance had successfully shifted into a White-tail doe, tapping her as a moon shifter of old.
From that moment on Torrance has been at Saskiah’s side, offering her advice and counsel as her ancestors did before her. She was present when the gemini comet came over Evermore, helping to keep the peace within the faction and guide the younger members through the changes. Over the past year Torrance has been working tirelessly within the faction, helping the new members integrate and even finding jobs when needed. Her empathetic nature made it easy for her to find a second job as a social worker while remaining a strong voice of reason within her new tribe.
