Victoria grew up isolated. Her pack’s territory sat deep in the forests of western Ukraine, largely in touch with the nature both around and inside themselves. They never sought outside the comfort of the trees, for they had no interest in humans or other species lurking beyond their borders. All they wanted was to be left in peace. The only times Victoria’s pack would grow violent was amongst themselves, or when others breached the tree line. In the villages surrounding the forest, it was a well-known fact that danger lurked within the dense vegetation and children were raised with intense warnings never to seek adventures there. It was rare that these warning were not heeded, and when such was the case in spite of it all, it was even rarer for the parents to see their children again.

Victoria was an orphan. Her mother had been a whore who died in childbirth, and while the woman tending to the birth itself couldn’t bring herself to kill the child, she also couldn’t take care of it. So she left it right in the outskirts of the forest for the “wolves” to take care of for her. Iryna, a born beta wolf of the forest pack, was the one to find the poor human baby, but this once, something compelled her to save the girl instead of killing her. She took the girl in, but the Alpha decreed that for the human to stay, she would have to receive the bite before her seventh birthday, for in their pack it was and always would be “survival of the fittest”. As a result, up until then, Victoria was always somehow different. She set herself apart in every way, and was consequently bullied by her peers, looked down upon by their parents. Only Iryna, ever treated the girl as she would a wolf.

As her seventh birthday neared, for once the girl wasn’t locked away during the full moon. No, she was let out; fodder to the wolves. She was hunted down, and she was bitten. It took her several weeks to recuperate, but she did, and on the next full moon, she transformed. Despite her new species, however, the bullying didn’t stop. Being the only bitten wolf in a pack of born ones, Victoria remained the outsider. As she grew older and her beauty began to shine more brightly, however, the male members of the pack began viewing her differently. This, in turn, meant that the female ones only grew more hostile. It wasn’t uncommon for Victoria to be challenged and pushed around at every turn. That is, until, one night, the wrong thing was said. Iryna was brought up, dubbed weak for ever softening towards a human baby, and Victoria lost her temper. The offensive wolf in question was torn to shreds. For once, Victoria had put herself in a position of respect in the pack. She had proven her strength and capabilities, her ruthlessness. And yet the next night she decided to leave the pack, Iryna was the only person she cared for there and once Victoria had killed a fellow wolf, Iryna couldn’t look at her the same. Victoria was like Iryna’s child and she believed that this incident was the final straw in Victoria losing her humanity. Her humanity is what made the older wolf take her in as a baby and now, she no longer wanted Victoria.

Over the course of the following years, Victoria explored herself, enjoying the freedom of being without a pack. She had no one to please, nothing to defend, no expectations and no responsibilities. She grew addicted to this carefree life, and to being in control of herself. It was on her travels, after a night of passion between herself and a younger she-wolf, that she first came across rumours of Eternal City. Years passed, and Victoria came to disregard the words as fable, until finally, whispers caught her ear once more. Evermore was now to become her new home.
