Xavier Abel
Faceclaim: Ryan Guzman
Species: Half-Blood Nephilim
Age: 28
Status: In The Community
Family: None
Xavier was born to two loving and yet different parents, his mother was a Fae from Mexico and his father a pure blood American Nephilim. Being born in a hospital in San Francisco he was meant to be part of a set of twins but his sister didn’t make it. Neither of his parents were sure of what to expect, would he take the traits of his Fae mother or be a half-blood Nephilim?
Neither of his parents favored one species over the other despite what they were, given that both came from a place of light they weren’t worried of what would become of their son. That was a good thing since instead of taking on his mother’s Fae traits he ended up with purple tinted eyes. His father took this as a sign knowing that the Nephilim were a weaker species than some. They had their strengths for sure but in the supernatural community they were slower and easier for other species to hunt.
The first four years of Xavier’s life were incredibly normal, his father owned a mechanic shop in San Francisco and though he didn’t charge much he made sure that those of the community were taken care of. More often than not he lost money instead of gaining it on jobs but Xavier never knew that since as a child what he remembered most was his father coming home smelling of oil and grease but with a smile on his face as he picked up his son transferring grease to his clothes which his mother always hated.
There was nothing extravagant or out of the ordinary in his childhood, he had everything he needed and though children wanted much his parents did the best that they could. He never had the newest toys or clothes but he was part of a good loving family that made sure to instill good personal values within him. Even if he didn’t have much he was taught to share what he did have which for a child is far from easy.
Instead of going to public school his mother and some of those in the community home schooled him, it was hard for him to always control his emotions and his parents knew that placing him within a school full of other children would be hard on him without the correct training. When his Uncle on his mother’s side first came over when Xavier was seven he freaked out seeing the darkness surrounding his Necromancer Uncle and so his parents had to explain to him what he really was and why he was so different from others kids. It made sense on how he just seemed to know when people weren’t telling him the truth, like his parents when they had been hiding what he was from him.
At eight his father started training him to fight in a combat room which was located under the mechanic shop his father owned. His mother didn’t like the idea of him using weapons and learning to fight but she understood why he needed to protect himself. Xavier didn’t see a danger in everyone the way his parents did but he followed his father’s teachings since the man was strict and there was no margin for error, as his father would say when it came to life and death, trying wouldn’t keep you alive, doing would.
By the time he was old enough to go to high school his parents decided that he could go to a public school since he had gotten his emotions under check for the most part. It was far different than being home schooled and he had somehow ended up insulting one of the jocks his first day by doing nothing. The jock slammed him into a locker and Xavier kicked him hard in the midsection causing him to stumble back and earned his first suspension since the teacher who said they were a witness only saw the end and was the football coach.
After that Xavier found himself getting into a lot of trouble when he did nothing and he learned that humans lied, a lot especially when they didn’t want to get into trouble. That was when Xavier found he had the ability to inflect pain on others with just his mind which was something he father had never explained to him but in the same turn he could also calm people. He realized that one when an upper classmen was pacing the hall and driving him insane while waiting to take the SAT test since Xavier had been sent out from class to wait in the hall yet again.
Everything seemed to be going well for Xavier, his grades weren’t the best but they weren’t the worst and he seemed to be integrating back into society well as far as school went but when he turned sixteen that all came tumbling down. Xavier was heading home after school, he didn’t live that far and it was easier for him just to walk since he was currently working on restoring the 1970 Stingray Corvette his father had gifted him for his birthday. Of course it was something his father had been saving up for since the day he found out Xavier was going to be born so it meant a lot to him.
Hearing a siren a frown came to his face, it wasn’t rare to hear police siren’s in the area after all but for some reason a chill went down his spine which was unusual since it was bordering on summer time. Picking up his pace a little the back pack resting on his shoulders fell to the ground as he saw the police cruiser in front of his father’s shop. For a moment he couldn’t breathe and all the training on trying to keep his emotions under control went out the window as panic began to fully set in.
Xavier couldn’t breathe, his chest seemed to be tightening and his vision was turning black as he suffered his first panic attack. He didn’t remember what happened but the next thing he was aware of he was sitting in the back of an ambulance as an EMT shone a pin light into his eyes. “What happened?” Xavier asked the EMT checked his pupil response to the light. The man had seemed very uneasy about answering that question and once he had finished checking Xavier out he moved towards one of the officers and began to whisper.
After a few minutes the officer came over and just stood in front of him as if unsure what to say. “What happened?” Xavier asked again and that seemed to snap the officer out of whatever trance he seemed to be under. The officer informed him that his father had been killed in what appeared to be a robbery and his mother was missing. Though he wasn’t a suspect Xavier was placed in the back of a police cruiser and taken to the station for questioning to see if he might know anything about who would want to hurt his parents. It seemed like he was answering questions about enemies and such for hours but he was sure it wasn’t that long.
Xavier was told he would go into child protective services until a family member came to get him or until he turned eighteen. Thankfully one of the older women of the community pretended to be his abuela and took him from the station. As soon as they were in her car she turned to him with a warning, it was no longer safe from him in San Francisco and he was only saved today because he had been at school. She told him to go to Evermore City, Colorado and find his Uncle there, the necromancer who had scared him as a child. His uncle was his best chance at safety and so she gave him some money and her car and Xavier started the drive to the city which meant nothing to him.
It took Xavier two days to drive to Evermore but that was just due to his eyes beginning to get blurry from the long drive. Once he reached the city it was harder to find his Uncle than expected, his Uncle was apparently rarely in the City. With no one to turn to within the city he found the first auto shop he could and applied to work there. The owner said he was too young and Xavier half way explained his situation, he could tell the man was a Fae and he was sympathetic to Xavier’s story and gave him a job at the shop and paid him under the table. After a few years the old man retired leaving the shop to Xavier and within that time he got his GED and an associates degree in business which has served him well.
Xavier never did find his Uncle, apparently the man had moved on but he did start to make a place for himself within Evermore and things were good. The moment the comet hit things began to change again the Nephilim took on new traits consisting of immortality and white scars appeared on his shoulder blades where wings would push through. That was the point when Xavier realized that he couldn’t be alone though it was easier to be alone, he was stronger among his own species and so he sought out the faction leader.
