Faceclaim: Marzia Bisognin

Yulissa was born to two loving parents on a ranch in North Carolina where she was raised for the majority of her childhood. As a child Yulissa was quiet and reserved, she tended to be the person who would watch from afar rather than placing herself in the centre of attention and was often the subject of teasing and taunts for her shyness, not that she ever let it get to her too much, she always had a strong belief in herself and her merits. She did however find focus for her mind in horse riding and from a young age she showed talents in show jumping.

Through her life caring for horses was important to Yulissa, she was raised alongside a horse named Persephone whom was the ranch's star show jumping horse and the two won many awards and recognitions for their talent. For the most part of the first half of her life, Yulissa had a perfect childhood with highs and lows but always a strong foundation. That was until her parents got a divorce. Yulissa couldn't understand why her parents wanted to separate at first, she blamed herself for getting between them and causing them to fall away from each other but what she didn't know was that her mother had been unfaithful many years back and that she was actually fathered by another man.

Once her parents had split up, Yulissa's father had moved across the country away from her and her mother which left them both to take care of the ranch. The stress of the new responsibility took its toll on Yulissa and her performance in competitions shattered to the point where she was no longer qualifying in tournaments and eventually the dream faded away and Yulissa gave up on wanting to be a show jumper, instead focusing herself on the work back home. It continued into her teenage years and through the years she had begun to resent her father for leaving, for abandoning her.

It wasn't until the tribal tattoo appeared on her lower back that Yulissa would discover the truth about her parent's divorce, she had been fathered by someone who was supernatural, a man named Lukas who was an initia. As Yulissa's mother explained what she was and the circumstances behind her being that Yulissa felt sick to her stomach, her entire life had been a lie, everyone was too busy protecting her feelings to consider that she had the right to know that the man she had been missing in her life had never even been her father at all. It was then that nineteen-year-old Yulissa decided that she was going to leave home and find her own way in life. Using the savings she had put aside from her hard work on the ranch she travelled from state to state looking for somewhere to call home.

Yulissa travelled from place to place often, taking work where she could find it to save more money as she went along and by the time she was 23 she had managed to save enough to look at purchasing a small ranch of her own. Arriving in Evermore city Yulissa found her new home in a small ranch near the base of the mountain. Something had drawn her to the place, there was something about the nature and open space that made her feel at home and eventually she would come to learn that it was a lot more than that, without intention, she had found her way to the Initia territory of the city, full of elemental controllers like herself.

Despite remaining reserved and somewhat quiet in the community, Yulissa found a way to settle into Evermore and the ways of life within it, she opened up her ranch to junior and intermediate riders and offered lessons on horse riding and even coached a few show jumping prodigies. She had found her own way in the world and for those moments she was happy and free, she had come to the conclusion that all she really needed in her life was herself, someone who would never lie to her and would always be constant.
