A week had passed since the drama which had occurred at the Christmas Ball; despite the time that had passed, Clarissa couldn’t stop the images which continued to plague her mind. The flashes of images were intense and realistic - even in her dreams, she felt she was living the moment over and over again, however, at times, she welcomed them; she believed she deserved them after what had happened to Siobhan. In the days that had passed, she relied on alcohol a lot more to comfort her in ways another person couldn’t – it would numb her, send her into a state of oblivion and gave her hope that on some occasions she could have a night sleep without her normal night terrors as well as the new ones which seemed to plague her. During the times in which the alcohol and taken full control over her; she was unaware of those around her – she barely remembered inviting Siobhan back to hers on the evening the violent act occured but whether she was still around in her apartment, she couldn’t be sure. Clarissa would hear noises of plates clashing, of water running and faint singing at times; but she believed it would be another hallucination.
The Nephilim when able to stand would stumble over to her homemade gym, where she would work out and attempt to practice her combat when intoxicated. Her moves continued to be sloppy, but the training was necessary. “Stupid Assassin’s League never taught me this” Her mumbled words were slurred as she looked at the punch bag, she would bring one leg up to aim a high kick to what would be an individual’s neck before her body found the ground again. Clarissa dusted her hands down on her gym leggings once more before standing; she would hear the faint footsteps in the other room; all things considering, what she did see of Siobhan, she seemed to be handling it a lot better than herself. This routine happened daily, and each day she didn’t see an improvement in her skills.
Over the week, Clarissa kept well clear from Cornelia, the venom coated words remained sour upon her tongue and the idea of apologising for such an act, well. She just couldn’t do it – she couldn’t swallow her pride just yet to admit that she was wrong.

Clarissa had finished her session with her punch bag; sweat glistened upon her exposed stomach, collar bones and arms as her sports bra and leggings darkened in colour. She could feel the soberness creeping in and knew it was time to continue her habit; allowing her hand to run across the wall to retain her balance, she headed back into the kitchen to grab another beer. As she got closer, she could hear faint voices coming from the one room which provided her solace which made her brows furrow in confusion. She didn’t try to decode the words which were whispered between the two; yet she knew who the voices belonged to – Cornelia and Siobhan. Closing her more vibrant lavender specked eyes, she exhaled and tried to walk confidently into the kitchen, aiming straight for the fridge without muttering a single hello yet she knew it wouldn’t last – she knew they would bombard her about her behaviour and what actually went down that evening.

Siobhan when home with Clarissa that night, She wanted to make sure that the Nephilim she had befriend was going to be okay. She had only planed on staying that night but after cleaning up and changing into some spare clothes she gave her. It became clear that the fight had shaken up Clarissa more then Siobhan. She watched Clarissa drink herself into oblivion until she passed out on the couch. Siobhan had covered her up and watched her till she feel asleep in the chair. The week when on just like that, sometimes she wondered if Clarissa had even noticed her living there. Making food for her and making sure she didn't harm herself to much. They had random off the wall conversations. She frowned, she hated seeing the woman she thought as so strong once, being beaten into a corner over events that could have been prevented. Siobhan did the only thing she knew that she could do - Call Cornelia.
It went to voicemail and she sighed softly before she spoke "Cornelia." She said as she ran a hand though her hair "Its Siobhan. Ah listen I have been staying with Clarissa this past week and I am getting worried." She looked out the window as she spoke. "She hasn't stopped drinking since that night and she has been well fighting herself? in her homemade gym. I am not even sure if she notices I am around. I am concerned for her." She looked behind her and sighed "What is going on I really got no answer after Clarissa took me home. Should I fear for my life?" She sighed "Right voicemail not going to get an answer. Just give me a call back or come over. Please Corny. I need your help." She sighed and then hung up.
When the next day came she was beginning to wonder if she should leave until she heard the knock on the door walking over and seeing Cornelia on the other side. She let out a breath of relief as she yanked open the door "you came." She said as she opened the door wider for the other Bradford sister to enter the room "She is already in the gym drunk out of her gourd." She said as she moved towards the kitchen and then looked to the fridge "I was thinking of hiding her drinks but not sure how she would react. I thought if I could just get her sober I could get her to talk to me." The young nephilim shrugged as she crossed her arms. "What happened that night Corn? Who attacked me? I have never seen Clarissa with that kind of fear in her eyes before." She said as she looked Cornelia.
When Siobhan heard Clarissa bouncing her way towards them she stopped talking looking to Clarissa. She bit her lip it was the first time she had seen her act sober in a few days "Rissa how are you feeling?" she asked as she watched her go to the fridge and sighed out looking back to Cornelia with pleading eyes. She felt as if she had been thrusted into a battle between the sisters and something far bigger then herself, but she would help in any way she could.
Aim. Shoot. Reload. Repeat.
It was clear that the Bradford members weren't all that different when handling emotions, whether it be of guilt or regret. Over the last week, Cornelia found herself in the shooting range every day as she perforated every target she could set her eyes on. The sound of the shooting bullet was her way of drowning out Clarissa's words that rang in her mind every second of every day, reminding her that in the end, the fault was Cornelia's. It always had been. Her mother, her partner, everyone she cared about was at risk just because she cared. Cornelia should have known better than to ignore what had been right in front of her, what Isaiah had said long ago but she was too stubborn to admit: Cornelia Bradford was cursed, and everything she touched was doomed to exist.
When the shooting range closed at 6, Cornelia was forced to turn to alcohol to drown out her thoughts, still holding onto the last remnants of sanity, a justification for her actions, for feeling - for caring. Much to her delight, a string of bars few blocks away, welcomed her every night with open arms and cradled her till the wee hours of morning, when she finally decided to stumble back to her house, drunk and ready to pass out.
As the late morning sun filtered through the curtains, Cornelia groaned slightly, rolling around on the bed and pulling the duvet further up her frame. The pounding headache had ceased by the time the angel-child finally opened her eyes. Thanks to her healing blood, the curse of a hangover was not something she had to experience. Sitting up, the female fumbled around for her buzzing phone, eventually finding it stuck between the wall and the bed. Sliding her thumb across the glass display, she looked at the caller ID and cursed under her breath. It was from the precinct, probably questioning her going AWOL. Simply rejecting the call, Cornelia sat back once again, dragging in a deep breath, deciding to clear out her voicemails in the process.
Quite a few messages awaited her, mostly concerning her work - either as a detective, or the Nephilim ambassador, both of which she was failing as she simply chose to delete them all until she stumbled upon a particular voice note. The female on the other hand sounded strangely familiar until she introduced herself as Siobhan. Quickly focussing her attention, Cornelia listened intently before cursing once again under her breath, this time at her stupidity and selfishness at disregarding Siobhan's situation and only focussing on her own messed up family.
It didn't take too long for the female to sober up, take a shower and change into a pair of fresh jeans and her signature white shirt that she wore under a black leather jacket, with boots. She drove as quick as possible to Clarissa's, mentally rehearsing what she should do, wanting nothing more than to do her patent damage control, even though a part of her knew the only way out of this was to tell Siobhan the truth. What she didn't know was if either of them were ready for it - her finally admitting it and Siobhan having to take in the real dangers that the ambassador had brought upon her, and probably the entire species.
Her nervous knock on the door resonated through the house as Cornelia waited for it to be answered. As Siobhan greeted her on the other side, the older female responded with a small, rather polite smile and a nod of her head, entering the house silently. She listened to her intently, trying to push down the guilt and let her more rational part of her handle the situation at hand. "If you hide her drinks, she'll probably just end up in a bar, endangering herself all the more." She responded, reaching the kitchen, fingers gently and absent-mindedly sliding along the marble surface of the counter. "About that night," She turned to face the other female, rehearsing the words carefully in her head, "I wanted to apologise for what happened. It wasn't your fight and you got dragged in the crossfires. I should have been..." Pausing as another pair of footsteps greeted the two, Cornelia looked away to find Clarissa walking in, a stench of alcohol following her into the kitchen.
She moved her gaze back to Siobhan, reading the pleading emotions in her eyes, pressing her lips together in response. "If you're looking for more alcohol," She finally started, aiming her words at Clarissa, "That's not a good idea."
She could feel all eyes on her, and normally she would relish in the thought that she was stealing people’s attention but today, she couldn’t think of anything worse; considering she was relatively sober. The eyes that had fallen upon her oozed judgement – she could feel them judging her for her actions since the Ball and beneath the façade that she often radiated from herself, she was a little ashamed of her behaviour too; especially how she treated Siobhan and barely acknowledging her existence as they shared the same apartment for the few days following the incident. Clarissa knew she could be cold hearted, she had to be in her line of work but since moving to Evermore, her frosty heart began to melt and the way she was treating people caused it to hurt – whereas, normally, being rude to others never fazed her.
The chill of the fridge breezed across her flushed, rather warm features; the sweat beginning to disappear as her glazed eyes began to roam the contents of her favourite appliances. In fact, in that moment, she was more than happy to stand there for a while before picking the next alcoholic beverage – but she didn’t feel like she could drink under such pressure from the two other Nephilims. Her spine straightened out and she broadened her shoulders to try and force the old Clarissa back out of her shell as she closed the refrigerator door. With a prolonged sigh, she turned on her heels and curled the very edges of her lips upwards slightly as her gaze fell upon her half-sister. “Maybe I was just looking for something to cool me down” She raised her brows for a brief moment, challenging Cornelia’s assumption, yet there was a playfulness to her tone which balanced out the challenging gesture.
Eventually, Clarissa allowed her gaze to meet Siobhan’s and her featured softened a little; or at least, they showed more emotion that what they had done in the last few days. “You’ve recovered well, Sio.” She complimented the younger Nephilim with a swift nod of her head before she moved herself and propped herself up onto the counter top. The reason for her sudden change of behaviour was primarily down to Cornelia’s presence, she knew she couldn’t get away with half the shit she normally did with that woman being round – one, she was the city detective and covered Rissa’s ass more than once and two she was the Ambassador. “So... What were you two talking about before you rudely interrupted by an alcohol dependent Angel Child?” Rissa cocked her head to side slightly, before allowing the pads of her fingers to pick at her gym leggings.
Siobhan nodded softly as she chewed on her bottom lip thinking about what Cornelia had to say when it came to hiding Clarissa’s alcohol from her, how she would just end up in a bar, endangering herself. At least in Clarissa’s home Siobhan had been able to keep an eye on her and make sure she didn’t hurt herself, even kept her somewhat fed even if she didn’t eat everything she made. Siobhan stayed quiet for a long moment before looking back between the two sisters.
Cornelia was her ambassador and even though she had just joined the nephilim community not long ago being a Lost Nephilim, never had training done until this year and still was very much unskilled. She felt like her unskilled issues were nothing compared to whatever was going on between the Bradford’s.
Siobhan hated the feeling of being useless and in that moment that was all she felt, that she couldn’t help what was going on between the sisters. She let her sad gaze met Clarissa once again, She cared for this Nephilim unaware to her for the last few days. She was worried about her, She wasn’t judging her she just wished she understood what was going on between them.
She watched as Clarissa stared at her sister challenging her in a way that Siobhan never could. She looked between the two once again until the dark gaze of Clarissa finally met hers and soften causing the tension in her shoulder shoulders to relax slightly as if she was her daughter waiting to be scolded but it wasn’t going to happen in this case.
“As well as I could.” she said as she touched the side of her face, she could still feel the memory of the pain she felt that night, how it felt the blood pouring from her head. She trembled at the thought of that evening once again and then her gaze looked back to Clarissa as she sat on the counter.
She looked between the two women and crossed her arms one over the other, she as called naive more times then she care to admit out loud, she had been told she couldn’t make it as a Nephilim by others in their community because she had yet to master any of her Nephilim skills. She tended to keep to herself making her escape to the woods as often as she could. She as too trusting, she mused and looked between the sisters.
When the backbone grew she could not point out but it was her turn to learn what happened that night, why she was almost beat to death over something she was sure was being held back from her. “Tell me what happened that night? Why was I almost beat to death by some stranger? What monsters do you guys have.” she aimed at the sisters as she rocked back on her heels moving between the two sisters “I feel I have a right to know since I am the one who ended up bleeding all over your dresses. What are you keeping from the Nephilim community? And how long do you think you can keep it from us until it catches up to not only you both but those close to you?” she looked between them with a slight fire in her eyes as she was demanding to know what was going on.
Despite never knowing what family truly meant, in the moment Clarissa stood in front of them, clearly not her usual self, and far more affected by the entire ordeal than she had realised, Cornelia felt stirrings of what could only be described as concern for one's family. It wasn't a feeling she was used to, especially towards someone who had committed more crimes than she could keep a track of.
Siobhan on the other hand was the innocent soul who got dragged into this business by her father's men. At least that's what Cornelia tried to convince herself, the blame being far too heavy for her to carry by herself. In fact, if anything, she was hoping against hope that this was the last time, and once she was done with the damage control, not only Siobhan, but no one else would ever face a similar incident. Snapping back into reality by Clarissa's words, Cornelia pulled her shoulders back in a light shrug before speaking, "I suppose refriegerator air works then." She retorted, albeit teasingly, gesturing to how she returned empty-handed from the fridge.
She was quick to notice the exchange between the other two females, a slight tension still clinging to the air as Cornelia pursed her lips. While she was glad Clarissa was making friends, and wanted nothing more than to restore humanity in both her siblings, a part of her feared for Siobhan, just as it feared for those the detective herself had been growing close to.
As a silence soon fell upon them, Cornelia cleared her throat only for her sister to start a trail of words that triggered the endless questions from Siobhan she had been dreading. While she understood where the Angel-child was coming from, the paranoia, the demand for truth, a part of her firmly believed she could only keep the female, and everyone else in the community safe, by keeping the Bradford family and its complications a secret. "You think I don't know how dangerous this is?" She spoke, her accented tone colder than she intended it to be. "This is not just something you share over a tea and some biscuits, Siobhan." Cornelia didn't intend to sound angry or patronizing, but the frustration of the situation, the constant internal battle made her lose her grip over her emotions.
Drawing in a deep breath, she looked at Clarissa, chocolate optics trailing back down to the marble counter, as she spoke, "I don't even know how to start..." Allowing her words to get lost in another moment of silence, Cornelia finally found the courage to speak the words out loud. "Our father is a psychopath who wants to destroy everything we love." She then looked back at Clarissa, hoping she would catch a hint and continue.
Clarissa sat there for a few moments in silence, yet little did the other girls know that inside her was serious battle of need; she only assumed she was experiencing withdrawal symptoms from her beloved alcohol. It was driving her crazy, it was like her insides were on fire - burning her, a constant itch beneath the layers of skin; but her facial expression remained neutral. Of course, Cornelia and Siobhan knew Rissa loved her alcohol but they probably didn’t realise just how much she had relied on it since the Christmas Ball. In fact, if one were to look close enough they would have noticed the vigorous picking at her leggings; she needed to distract herself from the constant itch at the back of her throat. Clarissa was normally a master at hiding her emotions, despite her natural wiring to erupt over something minor and she hoped, for both the girls sake this minor alcohol addiction wouldn’t flare up when tensions were already sky high.
Her lavender tinted gaze moved between the two girls, waiting for one of them to answer her; the fact that it took a while before either one to speak up annoyed her greatly. Rissa was demanding, and desired answers before she even had a chance to finish a sentence. A sigh of relief bypassed her lips as Sio finally ended the agonising silence that lingered between the three and upon hearing her own frustration, Clarissa was almost taken back; albeit, she was proud - it was time for the young Neph to realise her inner anger. Despite, Rissa being a bad influence on many people, she always craved for those softer ones to be able to stand up for themselves, especially in the world that they live in.
Siobhan definitely had a point, Cornelia was lucky that their Father had yet to attack the whole fraction rather than those just close to her. Rissa knew Corn saw all the Nephilim’s as her Angel children who she wanted to keep protected at all times - maybe Abraxas was missing a trick here. Clarissa’s features crunched slightly as she thought about it, maybe their Father wasn’t as clever as they thought; why would he just want to hurt one or two people at a time, when they all knew he had enough men to take down the whole fraction. She decided to keep this idea to herself for now, as she listened to Cornelia respond in a somewhat harsh tone. “It’s a good thing we don’t have tea and biscuits then” Rissa snorted, shifting slightly so she could rest her head against the side of one of the upper cupboards.
Upon catching Cornelia’s drift of wanting her to continue, Clarissa huffed a little and jumped down from the countertop and fixed her eyes upon Siobhan. “You see, this Abraxas particularly has it out for Cornelia, he blames her for a lot of his problems, despite it not being her fault.” She took a pause and continued. “He blames her for losing her Mother, the apparent love of his life, so for him, it’s a million lives for just the one.” Muscular shoulders gave off a shrug. “A million eyes for an eye sorta thing”
Siobhan looked to Cornelia flinching slightly at her harden tone, she wasn’t use to this side of either of the Bradfords making it clear that the threat that was going on was far bigger than she understood looking down from them both trying to understand what was going on. Siobhan was still very new to all of this, to being a Nephilim period and since she had come to Evermore it had been one thing after another.
She swallowed looking back to Cornelia as took a deep breath as if to focus what she was going to say if she even knew how to say it. Siobhan straighten her back as if not to show weakness in front of the Nephilim ambassador but she was scared out of her mind if she was being honest, she was scared shitless. She had never had to deal with family drama other then when her and her brother had little fights as children and even that wasn’t a matter of life and death. Where this felt like she may end up losing her life.
She watched her loo to Clarissa as if wanting to to continue form ‘Our father is a psychopath.’ how the hell was anyone to follow up behind that? Still Siobhan kept her mouth shut as her eyes moved to Clarissa who was clearly dying for a drink she was showing signs that a common human addict would show picking at her leggings in a vigorous manner. It caused a deep frown to graze Siobhan’s lips.
The Clarissa she had come to know and love as if she was her own family was fearless and brave and cared for her deeply and now this Clarissa seemed off as if the tension in the room could set her off on a warpath that no one would want to be on the receiving end of. She was trying her best to stay strong in front of these two women who she respected in different ways when really all she wanted to do was run and hid. Since Clarissa had come into her life she had decide it was time to stop hiding and face the bigger issues she had.
When they had both gone quiet Siobhan groaned out in frustration and walked between to the women “Is this some kind of Nephilim turf war or something? Like was your father in charge of the Nephilims at some point?” she turned back to Clarissa as she got off the counter their eyes locked with each. She crossed her arms over her chest and then felt instantly bad for what she said to Cornelia. Clearing her throat she looked to Cornelia “Forgive me for stepping out of line, I am just frustrated and confused.” she said as she cleared her throat and let the quiet hang between them for a long time.
“So your father is a psycho he blames you for your mother's death?” she asked more in a rhetorical manner as she began to pace the floor and then looked to them both “Do you know how many Nephilims are under his control?” she asked as she looked between them. “Because to me, it sounds like you guys need someone to go undercover and being your eyes and ears among your father and his crew. Learn weaknesses? Names? Family? If he is going to go after what you both love it’s time to fight dirty.” she said as she looked between them “Train me and send me in.” She said with determination.
It was a fact as plain as day that Cornelia didn't know what family meant, but she knew hers was far from the usual functional family Siobhan was probably used to. Her purple-tinted hickory optics roamed around the kitchen, absentmindedly resting on random objects, observing out of habit, but also out of slight nervousness that she was trying her best to hide.
Cornelia had had this talk before with plenty of people, none of whom survived at the end of the day, so the fear was natural. Letting Siobhan into their deepest darkest secrets also essentially meant the Bradfords were putting her in a position of risk, giving Abraxas the message that they cared about the younger angel-child. That put a target on her back.
Her gaze moved to Clarissa appreciatively as she picked up from where the younger Bradford left off, explaining the situation to Siobhan. The reminder that all this was happening because of her didn't sit well with Cornelia, but she stood quietly nonetheless, fingers nonchalantly sliding against the marble counter-top as she listened quietly to what the blonde female would have to say in response.
Cornelia had to admit, her reaction was not surprising at all. Having had this conversation as many times as she had, Siobhan's response seemed entirely normal. It wasn't easy to understand the web of lies and deceit that had intricately weaved together the members of the Bradford family, the strings that connected the angel-kinds, to the the devil that was Abraxas, "Perhaps a turf war would be easier to understand," The female chuckled dryly, "But no, our father is one of the most influential crime lords of the West."
Rolling her shoulders back in a light shrug, Cornelia gave Siobhan an understanding nod. "It's not easy to deal with all..." Sliding her palm in the air, she gestured between the two sisters, "This. Which is why I try not to involve others. But sometimes you can't choose who you involve." Cornelia turned her gaze to her half-sibling, pressing her lips together. "Or how they are involved." At Siobhan's suggestion, the Nephilim Ambassador's gaze flickered to the young female, brows furrowing as hints of exasperation marked the skin between them. "Send you in?" Cornelia shook her head, her tone louder than she intended it to be before she exhaled once again, calming herself. "Did you not hear what we just said? Abraxas is dangerous. And I'm not risking another life to play some game he's obsessed with."
It was times like this when she recalled the reasons and the motives behind the Bradford’s troubles that made her laugh; the whole reason was incredibly petty and in all honesty, childish. The birth of the twins and the hatred for Cornelia all soley came down to rumours and how those rumours taunted and plagued Abraxas’ mind with a fabricated truth. It was laughable really, how a grown man could not only succumb to such whispers, but act on them; whoever started the rumour mill must have felt accomplished. Once she had finished giving Siobhan the rundown of why they were attacked, Rissa fell silent; she didn't think there was much more to say on the matter. It also happened to be the first time she had ever had this conversation with someone else, Clarissa had never let anyone in, let alone close enough to have to warn them of the risks of befriending or even socialising with her. It was now, that she understood, although would never admit, why Cornelia continuously warned her about getting close to others.
Eventually she moved back to her prior position, however, this time leaning against the counter as she caught Cornelia’s gaze; trying to decipher if there was a hidden meaning in her words regarding other people and how others are involved yet her concentration was soon taken away by Sio’s idea. Her lavender flecked gaze widened as her attention shifted back to the younger Nephilim. “Absolutely not.” Clarissa growled the words, the growl completely unintentional. Cornelia gave off one reason enough not to send Sio in, but Rissa knew that wasn't enough to stop the blonde; therefore she decided to go down the route of her operational ways, what it takes to go on such a mission like this.
“Hypothetically, say we agreed to let you go in. Do you really think you can handle it? By now Abraxas will know who you are so you would have no chance of working for him.” Clarissa rose both her brows glancing at Cornelia before returning to Siobhan “Even if he doesn't recognise you himself, his men will, he has eyes and ears everywhere. You will be taken hostage before you even have the chance to say Hello. Do you think you are strong enough to take on multiple of people at once? How is your fighting coming along? Your powers? Because they won't take you lightly even if you go in willingly captive” Rissa paused to take a breath, allowing Sio to think of what the operation would involve; she hoped that would be enough to smash the little lightbulb above the Blonde woman’s head.
Siobhan had no idea that her learning the true reason behind the attack that evening would paint her with a mark that would seem to follow her. She knew by the way both of these angel-kin were acting that this wasn’t a secret they went around telling others willingly. Siobhan knew pressing for answers make cause fear with in her but watching both the sisters, she was beginning to understand that it was causing fear for them also. This threat was real and seem to be one the sisters had been dealing with for a long time now.
She watched as both sisters looked around the room avoiding eye contact with her and each other. More so each other which cause Siobhan heart to hurt. There was a facture between these sisters bigger than one she would ever know she was sure. She wondered deep down if she could help mend their relationship at all, or if it would never be mended until Abraxas was no longer an issue.
Siobhan frowned deeply as Cornelia had expressed that their father was the most influential crime lord of the West, it caused a slight churn in her stomach wondering many things. Wondered how much crime in Evermore he was behind. It wasn’t easy taking all of this in, but it was happening and there was no changing that. Siobhan looked between the two sisters once again and nodded slightly looking down as they both seemed to have expressions of unamusement from Siobhan ideas of going in undercover. They both seem to want to protect her, but she was sure that was more so out of duty than anything else.
“I care for you both.” She said softly as she looked up and between them again with her large blue hues “I don’t think it is right that you, Cornelia think you have to take on your father alone. You have people in this city weather you like it or not willing to fight for you.” She said and shrugged “So what Abraxas is dangerous every crime lord is, but you know what happens to bad people at some point they meet an end and if you want to sit here and say I am stupid for wanting to help you, you are wrong. You are worth helping Cornelia. Like it or not you are going to be stuck with me in your life. I am not going anywhere, Abraxas is not the first mad man I have had to deal with and I am sure he will not be the last.” She nodded sharply towards Cornelia before turning her gaze to Clarissa.
Clarissa reaction to her idea was much more intense then Cornelia, maybe because the two had become unlikely friends, maybe because Clarissa had listen to her the night she spoke of how broken she was and how she lost her family and her life all in one night. Maybe because of Clarissa Siobhan took being a Nephilim a little more seriously. In some ways these two women were the kind of women she need in her life, she looked up to them both for different reasons.
“I just want to help.” Siobhan said looking at Clarissa, “It was not a well thought out idea mind you, but it was the only one that came to mind.” She said with a soft sigh as she leaned back on her feet. “You are right I am not strong enough to do it on my own.” She said while she had begun her training and her fighting had vastly improved it still was not as great as a seasoned Nephilim. “My powers are far better than my fighting.” She said as she then looked down wondering if she would ever have a chance to be more help then harm to those around her. “You’re right okay both of you.” She tucked her hands in the pockets of her jeans to keep from digging her nails into her palms out of habit.
“But if Abraxas knows who I am already that means I am a target because he will no doubt assume you have told me about him. I mean getting your face beat in is enough to want to finish the job.” She shrugged to them both. “You both are stuck with me, unless we convince him other wise and even then, who knows if he will buy it. The best option I could come up with was making him think I am joining him to give him intel on you two that you both feed to me to maybe hypothetically make him trust me.” She said as she looked into him “I am clearly not a threat if you think about it, can barely fly, was raised as a human all my life. Maybe in his sick twisted brain he would see me as a project needed fixing?” She shrugged “It was just an idea, something better then hiding in fear.”
“I don’t want to run and hide.” She said as she looked back between the sisters “I have spent so much of my life not knowing who I am or what I was, then coming here being in constant fear. Being hunted by a mad man. Now a different once is after me, all because I have friends? What kind of bullshit is that.” She sighed. “I am not going to stop my life just because your father is around.”
Having had this conversation so many times, Cornelia was almost not surprised by Siobhan's retaliation. She was well aware that anyone on the other side wanted to be part of the bigger picture, to do good and put an end to the monstrosity that was Abraxas Bradford. But being on this side of things, the detective also knew well that none of those who had previously stood in Siobhan's place were alive, or around. There was no argument that she would not let the blonde anywhere near her father, and realising that Clarissa shared her opinion was a sense of relief. At least, at times like these, the two unlikely siblings could reach a common ground.
She almost winced as the younger Nephilim spoke about bad people meeting an end, shaking her head at the naivety that oozed out of her. She didn't want to seem patronising but having seen all the things Abraxas had forced her to, Cornelia was quite sure that idea didn't exist in the Bradford world. "Not in real life, they don't." The female sighed, "Abraxas is not some villain that all the heroes can come together and defeat."
The ambassador's gaze then moved to Clarissa as she had a different, more tactical approach. There were countless times the detective had used the approach herself to tell people off from going after Abraxas, but a part of her knew that Siobhan wasn't one to back down easily and though she admired her for her dedication, she feared that it would lead to her eventual demise.
"You have to understand, even with the best fighting skills and powers, Abraxas's army is huge, and it doesn't consist of just mere humans, but species of every kind. Evil, sadistic men and women who want nothing more than bloodshed." Cornelia almost felt bad for diminishing the youngling's courage, but she knew it had to be done. Biting her lip, she exhaled deeply, leaning against the counter.
She listened to Siobhan speak about what she had in mind, and her opinions, fingers pinching the bridge of her nose, almost too tired to have this conversation again. However the words, 'project needed fixing' rang in her mind instantaneously, an idea forming at the back of her mind as Cornelia looked up once again. She pushed away the plan with all her might, not willing to risk someone's life over a wild idea and sighed. "And this is why we don't make friends, Clarissa." She spoke, though there was no irritation in her tone, only worry.
Despite completely and utterly shutting down Sio’s idea and plan, Rissa couldn’t help but feel slightly proud at how far the young Nephilim had come; she looked back to when they first met, she was no more than a little girl who would probably end up being frightened by her own shadow - but now. Now was different, even just slightly. Yet despite this change in the blonde angel child, Rissa knew it would not be enough to withstand the storm which is Abraxas Bradford; hell, Rissa pegged herself as a great assassin and fighter but even she knew her limits and that her Father’s men would have her for breakfast. That mere thought alone bothered her greatly; she hated the idea that someone could be her downfall - particularly someone she didn’t necessarily care too much about; despite there being a small part of her that desired that Father figure in her life. Her slender arms crossed over her chest before her shoulders gave off a shrug; this conversation was teasing her desire for alcohol and with that, not caring about the looks nor comments the two women would give, she turned and grabbed a beer from the fridge.
The sound of the can opening broke the awkward silence which lingered between the three girls and Rissa couldn’t help but clear her throat for a moment before washing it down; the alcohol soaking her taste buds which made her exhale out in pleasure. Upon having the alcohol now in her bloodstream once again, she felt the tension from her muscles ease up slightly as she looked between her fellow Nephilims. “Carry on” She murmured with a slight wave of her hand, asking for the two women to continue in why going after Abraxas in that way wouldn’t necessarily be the best idea; her tinted eyes flicked between the two. It was in that moment that Rissa had to bite down on her tongue, in attempt to ignore that groan which wanted to escape her - she was getting bored of this conversation. This wasn’t his first attack, and it surely wouldn’t be the last, therefore, in her mind - they either had to do something or just continue to sit around like a deer in headlights.
She did, however, note a very brief expression which found Cornelia’s features which triggered a brow to quirk upwards in curiosity; yet she let it simmer down for the moment as she was too busy being occupied with her beer. “We better start living the life of a hermit then” A playful smirk tugged at the very corners of her lips before the rim of the can found them to allow her to take another well deserved swig. “Anyway, as much as this conversation is lovely, what are we going to do? Because I’m getting rather tired of being a sitting duck, waiting for some form of attack.”
