Lucien stood in line at a busy cafe in the middle of the bustling city. Frankly, it was terribly overwhelming with the crowds of thousands walking throughout the streets, but he had made a promise to himself and to Kaia that he would try and get out of the lodge that he and his kind shared. He'd been too wrapped up in his research and thoughts which were proving no further results on how he and the rest of the Aurazin would find their way back home to the veil. The countless weeks were still fruitless and he was not sleeping properly now that sleep was an actual thing he had to do in his body again. It was all very strange, but it should've been natural. He was human at one point, after all.

The sentry took a steadying breath and closed his eyes for a moment to calm down. The emotions and auras of all the people around him were proving chaotic. He let his hues open again and was happy to see that the small exercise did work as he looked around the packed establishment. Lucien was getting better at controlling how to block out everyone's noise. He'd been in the void far too long and he hadn't visited Earth on a mission in at least a century. These small practices of controlling the personal wall of protection against others' emotions was almost foreign to him since he'd been in the darkness of the void saving souls and fighting off the voidlings for so long. Time in the veil didn't move the same way it did on Earth he felt at times.

A small tap on his shoulder made him realize that the queue had moved up and he was holding the line. Luke nodded apologetically and took too far of a step forward, colliding into the woman in front of him. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Miss." In habit, he bowed slightly which would probably seem strange to most of the people around if they happened to notice. "I was off in my own world when I should've been paying attention before the masses throttle me for not letting them get their beverages sooner," he joked.

Lucien, through habit, immediately noticed her aura which seemed almost muddled in a way he hadn't seen before. He realized he must've been staring after a moment because of this, though he had the feeling many probably stared at the woman. Her striking blue eyes stood out against her dark hair and she was quite beautiful. He cleared his throat and looked away for a moment in hopes that he didn't seem like the type to ogle a woman, but explaining what he'd really been looking at would be out of the question. "Please, let me buy you your cup of coffee?"

Isobel knew she was on the verge of losing her damn mind whenever she would see her fathers expressionless face staring straight at her, or so she thought because upon rubbing her eyes, he had suddenly vanished, and it left her to wonder whether or not he was really standing there to begin with. “Get it together, Is.” She mumbled under her breath to herself, not wanting anyone near to think she was some crazy person, before pushing the door open to the café before her. Her shift had finally come to an end after a long, stressful day and since todays shift was a morning one, she needed a cup of coffee to keep herself from falling asleep instead of actually being productive.

Standing in line, Bel was lost in her own little world for a while, something she was beginning to do often nowadays and though she tried to stop it from happening, her mothers face filled her mind and almost immediately, it saddened the Lycan as if something were compelling her to do so. Yes, she missed her mother more than anything and practically blamed herself for her gruesome death, but she had received closure after living in Evermore City for a while so this sudden sadness she felt for the woman who had always tried to save Is from her crazed father had taken her back.

She failed to realize the line in front of her was starting to move and it seemed like the guy behind her had failed to realize the same thing because he quickly ran into her and before she could apologize, something that came natural to the lone wolf, he had beat her to it. Stepping forward so no one got annoyed with the two, she turned slightly to get a better look at him, instantly offering him a reassuring smile. “Please, don’t apologize,” she began with a small shake of her head. “I think I’m more at fault than you. I was off in my own world, as well.” Isobel admitted, amused with herself.

It was obvious she was trying to make light of the situation because no harm was done and his bowing to her caused her to be slightly surprised though she didn’t show it. When she realized he was indeed staring at her, however, she simply arched a brow his way and nearly laughed when he caught himself and acted like he hadn’t just gawk at her. “Oh.. No, I can’t let you do that.” She said seeing as she wasn’t mad at him at all for running into her. “But if you insist..” She was quick to add with this playful glint in her blue hues.

Lucien gave a slight nod in confirmation as the woman agreed to his offer. "I must insist or the guilt will plague me endlessly." He smiled and looked up to the boards above their heads and behind the counter. It was written with chalk in someone's incredibly neat script to add a certain elegance to the place and he couldn't imagine how long it must've taken the person to do so, especially if that person were to make a mistake. The options seemed endless, though everyday he was finding himself more and more interested in the many flavors of coffee the cafe served. Luke was accustomed to the various amounts of tea the world had to offer in his lifetime and of course was brought up on it. However, coffee seemed to be the new craze among people in this century and he supposed he was starting to see why in a way.

The new acquaintances were next in line and he motioned for her to order whatever it was she would like before placing his own. Once he had paid, he led the way to where people would herd together and wait for their orders, finding it rather odd how very cattle like the population had become to such a behavior as this. As he turned back to the young woman, the sudden pulsing of her aura threw him in confusion again. He couldn't quite place what it was, but it finally dawned on him that the way the waves of color danced around her was not that of a human. She was one of the many supernatural beings that inhabited Evermore. Still, it wasn't this that caused for his bewilderment. Something else seemed to be attached to her, but what he did not know.

Before he could seem any more of a strange individual by the way he was trying to casually look at her, but probably not succeeding, the aurazin attempted to make conversation. "Do you come to the cafe often? I was told it's one of the better ones in the city, though I suppose that's very obvious due to the amount of people that are always in here." Hmm, therian perhaps? His mind continued to try and pinpoint her species to possibly understand more about what it was that was causing this anomaly. What he could see was how melancholy she appeared to be by the hues of her aura. Maybe the two were related in some way he hadn't seen before. "I apologize," he said, immediately after his inquiry. "My name is Lucien. What may I call the poor woman who I've burdened with my company?"

She gave a small smile in response, knowing she couldn’t hold a little bump into her against him, it just made no sense to do so. However, with his persistence, Bell decided against rejecting his offer again and instead accepting as a way to give him a peace of mind in a way, especially since he looked like he had a lot on his mind, not to mention he looked at her in a way that confused her, as if he’d seen a ghost. The irony. “We wouldn’t that, would we?” She teased him as a way to show she wasn’t in any way going to blame him for running into her, seeing as the Lycan had previously been in her own little world. Though it was clear she was trying to keep up a positive front ever since escaping her fathers wrath, she did get a sense of dread and guilt, as if something was hanging around her, causing her to feel this way.

She’d long ago put the complications that surrounded her life behind her, her mothers death especially, and for all of these feelings to come back made her feel like it all really was her fault and that maybe her dad was right to want her head served to him on a silver platter.. Though, this newfound life was definitely an improvement from her last and seeing as this small conversation with a stranger had lifted her mood, maybe forgetting was better on her.

As the line moved up, she moved up with it, expecting him to follow suit as the individual before them was up next to place their order. “Believe it or not, I don’t.” Isobel admitted with a small chuckle. She typically ordered coffee or went for the bland ones they had in the station but with her wanting actual coffee for once, she opted on coming here and so far, so good. “I guess the line of people pulled me in. Hopefully this place lives up to the obvious hype,” she mused as she glanced around momentarily before her dark hues returned to the male beside her with a smile. “That’s a unique name,” she commented when he introduced himself. “I’m Isobel and your presence is certainly anything but a burden.” She reassured him.

Lucien smiled to her. "Well, that is kind to say and it is nice to meet you Isobel." He offered his hand to complete their greeting and as they touched a sudden jolt ran through him. It was unlike any he'd felt before, but it was jarring to say the least. It didn't physically show, however. He doubted that Isobel would've even noticed in the exchange and by the look on her face, Lucien knew that she hadn't, but it was there. Something in her aura had moved through her and transferred to him and it was dark. The passing emotions of this energy seemed to fill him as the natural feeling of empathy began. It was hatred, sadness, and rage all swelling in a ball of disaster as it consumed Lucien, making him slightly stagger a step back in response, but he forced the smile to remain on his face in an effort not to show what had just transpired.

His name suddenly rang out, making him pull his attention away from Isobel and towards the barista who was holding up their order with slight annoyance that he wasn't coming fast enough to retrieve it. Lucien moved his way through the crowd that parted like the sea in disappointment for it wasn't their own name being called. He offered one of the coffees to Isobel and decided there wasn't any way he could just let her leave without knowing more. "Would you care to go for a walk? I promised myself I wouldn't stay cooped up inside all day. I've been doing that a little too much lately and my roommates are starting to worry about my path to becoming a recluse."

Before having the chance to respond, the aura quickly moved around Isobel in violent turbulence. Lucien could see the waves around her begin to pulse and seemed to push outwards. Suddenly the sounds of the coffee machines behind the counter made a high whistling sound capturing the attention of everyone in the cafe before the hot liquid sprayed from the nozzles. The ovens and stoves seemed to also have a mind of their own as the flames of the burners came to life and reached what would seem an impossible height. The baristas were either taking cover from the hot liquid or attempting to turn off the stoves as the chaotic scene began to unfold and people watched dumbfounded. Lucien was starting to see what it was that might be happening and looked to Isobel. She seemed completely clueless, though the Aurazin's theory needed further investigation because he hadn't seen something like it in at least a hundred years.
