Dominic pulled his leather jacket closer around him as he walked down the busy sidewalk of Dhampir territory. The city immediately came alive as the sun set behind the many large buildings and the autumn night began to take over. People were filling the streets as they were being let out of work and headed to all the bars and restaurants. It wasn't long before he was essentially rubbing elbows with the revelers. It was Friday night and people were ready for the weekend.

He nodded to a bouncer he was friendly with at one of the bars he frequented before entering the next building over which was a very popular hibachi. Pushing his way through the line of people who were waiting for a table or a seat at the bar, he made his way to the front where the hostess stood. Her gaze was down on the computer as she was furiously typing away in attempts to get everyone's reservations correct. He cleared his throat and the young girl looked up at him. "Yes? I'm sorry, but you have to wait at least an hour for a table."

"I have a reservation already," Dominic told her. "It's under Howlett." The girl typed away in the computer and then a serious expression passed over her face. She cleared her throat and quickly grabbed a menu. There was another person who was in charge of seating guests, so he knew she must've known something...

"Yes. Please, right this way, sir." Dominic followed the girl across the restaurant and he took in the surroundings. There were at least a dozen stations set up around the building which all had large parties of people sitting in a circle. In the middle was the chef, preparing all the food for the guests in the grand fashion that hibachis tended to portray. He couldn't help but notice the intriguing amount of collectibles the place had. There were several samurai and katana swords in glass cases, sets of ancient armor, weathered parchment, traditional Japanese clothing, and many other treasures. "Here, sir." Dominic sat down at a small table that was in a part of the restaurant which were meant for parties of three or less. "Your waitress is Akane. She'll be with you shortly." The girl paused a little longer than what would be normal and he could feel her eyes on him. He nodded and she snapped out of it before hurrying away.

'Real smooth...' Dominic's eyes casually went around the restaurant, taking in the surroundings with all the detail he could remember. His gaze then went to the real reason the hostess had sat him at this table. The red jewel that sat in the glass case closest to his table was the entire purpose of his being there and only a few people knew of what was going to happen. He was on a mission for the Ailwards and at any moment one of the Dhampir associates that were meant to help protect the very old and exquisite necklace was going to cause a blackout in the restaurant, giving him the window to take the jewel. It was unlike the Ailwards to trust the other species, but the Dhampirs were known for being some of the best warriors of the supernatural world and Dominic had a feeling that they were going to be needed for this. They hadn't been specific about why they wanted this necklace out of the hands of these collectors, but Dominic didn't need those answers. He had the mission and that was all he needed.

Dom looked down at his watch and it was 6:30 pm. The blackout was scheduled for 6:41 pm, precisely and it was at that moment his waitress appeared. "Hello, my name is Akane," the young Japanese girl said in greeting, her accent thick. "What can I get for you, Mr Howlett."

He leaned back in his chair and smiled at the young girl. "The biggest bottle of sake you have." The waitress smiled and nodded when all of a sudden the lights went out. 'What? It's way too early...' Dominic quickly stood and headed over to where he knew the case was as guests of the restaurant began to panic. The owner attempted to calm as many people as he could, but they were acting chaotically as people tended to do. He suddenly noticed a figure by the case in the wavering flashlight beams that moved about the restaurant as employees attempted to lead people out. Dominic pushed his way through the crowd and tables as fast as he could, but it was too late. The case was empty and the person who had taken it was gone. His gaze dashed around the the restaurant until his eyes fell upon the one person who wasn't making their way to the exit and instead towards the back of the building and through the kitchens. "Shit...." Dominic took off after the thief.

To be left with Flint was considered as her own personal hell, not simply because of his betrayal to both her and Dominic but because she simply didn't trust him, nor did she believe he could fight, at least not well in comparison with other Dhampirs in the community. Therefore, he could very well be directing her into a trap whilst playing innocent all the way, or alternatively, he was innocent and still setting them up got defeat because he would not be able to assist her when it came to fighting and taking ojt ang possible threats. The two of them walked in an eerie silence, she had nothing to say to him and she was sure whatever they conversed in would simply enough her and she would end up using all her negative energy on him; particularly when she needed to release that on the real threats. The dhampir continued to make wasted attempts at starting a conversation, an act which she believed was simply just nerves - however each time she caught his jaw opening ever so slightly as if to speak, she sharply narrowed her gaze at him which made him bite her tongue; it didn’t even cross her mind that he could mention something beneficial to her - but from what she knew of him, it would be pointless chit chat.

The two of them walked through the hallways in silence, she made sure to kill each camera which they passed; despite the reason for doing this, if there was anyone on surveillance - the shortage of cameras would soon notify the group that they were in the building and because of that, she hoped Dominic would be okay. Rissa would assume the prisoners would have high security, simply due to the fact that they were much stronger than the human race; however, she would not put it passed the humans to have figured something out which would equal the playing field. With this in mind, the lab area should, in theory be the least protected when it wasn’t in official use - but if being in The Organization for many years, she knew well enough to think that, thus she continued to process many ways this could play out and consequently, preparing herself for whatever. Eventually, she allowed Flint to speak up. “We’re nearing the lab right now, it’s two more rights” He commented, yet she found her arm extending and pushing him towards the wall; which she soon followed, pressing their backs up against the cool brick.

“Look, Flint. I don’t trust you but before we go any further, we need to confirm our plan of action” She spoke sternly, her head peeped around the corner at the next set of cameras and in the far distance she could hear the security talking. “I need my powers for us to even remotely have chance” She could see him raise his brows, clearly he was questioning her combat skills. “They have guns.” Rissa simply replied, deep down wishing she knew more about this jewel and how far of radius it’s power worked; therefore, to see if she still had power here, she narrowed her gaze and caused Flint to experience a short but powerful burst of pain infliction which caused him to coil over.

“Hey! What was that for?!” He wheezed out, his arms wrapped around his chest as he tried to compose himself.

Clarissa shrugged and smirked rather smugly. “Just checking” She spoke as a matter of fact before taking a deep breath. “First we silently take out the guards at the lab door, and then my dear friend, we will push you into the lab first considering you don’t have your weapon - you’re pretty human anyway without your runes” Rissa could see how the words actually hurt him, he certainly was not afraid to show his emotions on that matter; there was even a very small part of her that felt sorry for him. “I won’t let them kill you, I want that pleasure” She reassured him and leaned in to kiss his cheek before nodding her head in the direction of the lab. “Lets go” The two trotted down the hallway, their backs remained against the wall; yet she stopped half way but nodded to Flint to keep moving down. Her purple tinted gaze narrowed a little as she extended her mental abilities to the two men, inflicting pain upon them - giving them the sensation of losing their tongue, disabling them to shout out as Flint attacked them. Of course they had guns but she hoped he had some skill with fighting and he could make them drop them - which to her surprise they did.

Once the guns were out of the picture, she released her hold upon them and moved in to help Flint fight the men, who were surprisingly easy to take out; perhaps they were only trained in weapons. For once, Flint received a genuine smile from Clarissa as they stood catching their breath - she couldn’t help but peer in through the window before jumping slightly as Dom’s voice entered her mind. “You could have knocked first, Jesus fucking Christ, almost had a heart attack” She mumbled back before processing how there was a young boy in the lab waiting to be tested on. “Gotcha” Rissa simply replied as she glanced over to Flint. “Also a rescue mission, there’s a young kid in there. - Are you ready to be bait” She queried, but did not wait for his response as she suddenly grabbed him and threw him into the double swing doors and into the lab room.

Dominic led the small group into the hallway where a siren had begun wailing, no doubt in response to their arrival. He turned his head slightly as he could hear the footsteps of soldiers descending the stairs he'd come down to find the prisoners, but it meant they were closer than he'd like since the sound of the alarm was inhibiting his full abilities. His gaze landed on the only other way out which led downstairs and where they needed to go next anyway. This is where Flint said they kept their vehicles. "Come on, let's go."

He held the gun raised as they came upon the underground garage which had a variety of smaller army vehicles parked. A soldier quickly stood from behind one of the trucks with a firearm pointed at them, but Dom didn't hesitate as that only left a short window for him to neutralize the smaller target. Taking the shot, the bullet flew into the man's chest and immediately dropped him to the concrete floor. The Guards weren't meant to kill if it could be avoided, but sometimes the therian didn't care much for that rule when it came to people like this.

The sound of the pursuing mercenaries was reaching his ears as his eyes glanced upwards to the staircase. "There. Against the wall. Grab a set." The once imprisoned man quickly ran over and took a key ring from the corkboard that Dominic had indicated with a nod of his head, attempting to find the correct vehicle they belonged to. The woman was standing in a state of shock as she appeared to be waiting for the arrival of the soldiers to come and possibly end all their lives and the children were beginning to cry; both he didn't have time to cater to. Putting the strap of the gun over his head, he swiveled the weapon around his back and placed his hands on either side of her arms. "Hey. Come on, we're almost out of here. Take the kids and get in the truck." Her eyes were wide and tear filled, but she focused on him and nodded before ushering the children away.

"I found it!" the man yelled, waving his arms wildly as he hurried around to help the children into the backseat after starting the engine.

Dominic ran over to the tactical truck and got into the passenger seat, lowering the window and aiming towards the staircase. "Go, go, go, go!"

"What about my little brother?!" one of the young girls screamed as the woman closed the backdoor with everyone safely inside and the man slid into the driver's seat.

The first of the soldiers appeared at the bottom of the steps and Dominic quickly fired off the weapon, but soon was out of bullets. One went down immediately, but the others returned fire as the bullets soared at the truck, embedding into the armored metal. The automatic door to the garage lifted as they sped towards the exit, leading them up a ramp that was camouflaged against the woods and ran parallel to the raging river. "I have others inside the facility. They'll get him out." Dominic reached for his phone and punched in the address to one of the safe houses the Ailwards kept around Evermore in case of situations just like this. "Pull over."

"What?!" The man glanced over to him with a wild look as if Dominic had lost his mind. The lycan gave him a threatening glare which was enough to get what he'd asked for as the truck slowed to a halting stop and Dom stepped out.

He handed the phone over to the man through the open window. "Follow the directions. It'll bring you somewhere safe. I'll meet up with you after this whole thing is over." Dominic slammed the door shut and bolted back towards the facility as he reached out towards Clarissa. 'Please tell me you're almost out of there. I'm heading back to the pipe now.'

The guards that were on the bridge when they first arrived were on high alert now as they spotted Dominic coming through the trees. The bullets went whizzing passed him as he vaulted up onto the ladder and climbed to the top of the concrete structure over the dam. In one quick motion, Dom pulled his dagger out from its sheath and tossed it at the first soldier. The blade embedded into the mercenary's neck and he fell to the ground in a gurgling mess. The other soldier continued firing towards him, but the clip ran empty which was music to Dominic's ears. He went full force at the soldier and tackled him to the ground, hitting him in the head with his own empty assault rifle to knock him out.

Dom breathed out heavily as he stood and walked over to retrieve his dagger. As he happened to look down and pulled the weapon free, he noticed the small grenade without its pin in the hand of the downed solider. "Oh, shit..." The therian ran back across the bridge and made it to the ladder just as the force of the loud explosion knocked him off his feet and falling to the ground. He tumbled across the earth and rolled onto his stomach with a groan. The ringing in his ear made him shake his head as pulled himself onto his side and looked back to the dam which now had a large crack leading down the middle of the structure. A spray of the river's water was breaking through and he could feel the trembling of the wall that was now compromised.

Slowly pulling himself to his feet, Dominic ran to the base of the dam and waded through the water once more, pulling himself up into the pipe. He hurried through the darkness without the use of his lighter this time, hoping the others were inside. "Clarissa!" The rumbling of the pipe was so forceful at times, it knocked him sideways. If they didn't get out soon, he didn't want to think what would happen. As he pushed onward, there were faint sounds in the distance that sounded like voices. "Clarissa!" Again, he wasn't met with a reply, but instead the water that was flowing beneath his feet suddenly picked up with great force. "Oh, no." The rumbling in the pipe began again, but louder than it had before as he heard the metal begin to whine against the pressure of the river. "Clarissa!!" It was then he finally caught a glimpse of them in the black, but it was only for a split second as a wave of water came from behind to knock them from their feet. The wave only gained in power as it soon took him as well, forcing them back to the opening of the tunnel with no way to stop.

A deafening eruption could be heard outside and he knew the dam had finally collapsed, but there was nothing they could do now as they were at the mercy of the river's power as well as that of the gem if the others were able to steal it back. The metal pipe began twisting and buckling under the pressure of the disintegrating facility as he was finally thrown from the opening into the raging waters below with the others falling out not far behind him.

It was just her luck that there was also a little boy inside of the lab in which the jewel was also hiding; two of her least favourite things were due for a rescue - in this moment, she really couldn’t decide which one she would prefer to rescue first and perhaps leave the other behind. Rissa, for one, was not down for the whole children malarkey and she was adamant that they could smell her fear and discomfort around them; simply because no matter the scenario or the situation that they were in, the children would always flock towards her. Thus, once she knew Dominic was out of her head, she cussed multiple times because she definitely knew she got the short end of the bargain here - he simply needed to escape some prisoners; she on the other hand, had a lying toe rag of a Dhampir as her buddy, had the power absorbing necklace which was now activated and now a screaming and distraught child to rescue. “What did I do to deserve this, big guy?” She queried as she looked upwards, but soon shook her head. “Yeah, don’t answer that” She grumbled as she found herself pushing the Dhampir into the pits of hell.

The radio silence worried her as the doors closed behind him, thus she soon followed afterward only to find there was another set of doors which annoyed her - the pleasure she would have gotten from seeing Flint look like he was about to shit himself would be sky high. “Quiet” Rissa hissed as they walked towards the door and peeked through the window; her gaze falling upon the young lad tied up to a metal pole in the middle of the room whilst two of three ‘doctors’ surrounded him, glancing at notebooks whilst one of them held the jewel. Rissa attempted to analyze the situation and the best way to proceed - but with the jewel in their possession, it was simply going to be hand to hand combat style. “Change of plan, there is no plan” She turned to face Flint who nodded, she could see the fear resting upon his features at what was next. “The worst they’ll do is kill you” She shrugged nonchalantly, before taking a steadying breath and with confidence and sass, she walked straight through the swinging doors as if she was meant to attend the meeting.

“You can’t be in here!!” One of the older men commented, yet she could tell he had worked his way up the ranks in his time; thus she knew better than to judge a book by it’s cover. She barely heard Dom’s voice in her mind.

Rissa naturally went to use her Nephilim powers, she guessed she was hoping for the best but she would need to do this the old fashioned way; and she was correct, the older man was a lot stronger than he looked. The Angel of Death took countless blows to her face, as well as her chest all the while listening to Flint try and free the child whilst fighting off his own problems. Without concentration, Clarissa soon found herself with her back upon a counter, the man’s hand around her throat; he was choking the life out of her but as he did so, her hands fumbled around her to thankfully find a syringe and without hesitation, she lifted her hand enough to jab and inject him with whatever serum was in hidden within. The older man stumbled off her, which simply left the man fighting Flint and the child, as well as the man with the jewel.

“Not so big now, are you” He taunted her as she stood, panting, bruised and a river of blood escaping her nose.

With the back of her hand, she wiped away the blood before simply charging at the man; jumping just before she reached him so her legs could hook around his neck - bringing him roughly to the ground. The jewel swiftly escaped his hold and rolled across the room - with the man beneath her, she glanced over to Flint and was surprisingly pleased to see him knocking out his rival and freeing the child. “Wait outside!” She growled as she fought off the wriggling man beneath her who clearly was the brains rather than the muscle; thus ending his life was fairly simple as she smashed the back of his head against the tiled flooring.

Clarissa grabbed the jewel as she passed it and stuffed it in her pocket as she limped her way towards Flint and the child. “Can you carry him?” Flint simply nodded and threw the kid upon his back as they slowly and sneakily made their way back through the hallways to where they entered - the alarm would certainly be going off. With luck on their side they made it into the pipeworks, grimacing at the water splashed against their ankles; she could faintly hear the shouting of Dominic further down the pipe but before she could respond - the water picked up and rushed all three of them off their feet.

Darkness surrounded her as she allowed the water to take her; she tried not to panic as she was not the strongest of swimmers - yet once they hit the pool of water surrounding the facility, she could barely fight the violent currents with the jewel in hand thus she fell victim to the water. Rissa could just see the banks yet just as she began to fight the waves to get to safety, one wave came tumbling on top of her, rendering her unconscious.

The strength of the river tossed Dominic like a rag doll as he tried to fight his way back up for air. He knew better than most the power of nature and how fragile humans and supernaturals were to it when it was on a path of destruction. The lack of oxygen was beginning to burn in his chest, but the current finally righted him as he pushed his way to the surface and gasped. If it weren't for the fact that he'd been swimming since about the same time he could crawl, he wasn't sure he would've been able to fight as long as he had against the turbulence of the river.

The water had risen so high and with such force that it was knocking down the trees along the banks of the river, sending dangerous debris along its path. He slammed into the side of a boulder and felt the sharp pain of a rib cracking while the air in his lungs were sucked out of him momentarily. With as much effort as he could muster, Dom pulled himself up just enough to gain his bearings before climbing to the top of the rock that was just barely above the surface of the breaking water. His breathing was still labored as he rolled from his back and onto his side to see out into the river. It truly gave him pause as he watched the water destroy anything it came in contact with.

He instinctively wrapped an arm around his side and winced from the pain in an attempt to stand. He could see nothing of the others and began to fear the worst until the sound of his name brought his attention a bit further upstream. Flint was hanging on to one of the fallen trees and had managed to get the child on top of its trunk, crawling his way towards the shore. The dhampir was frantically pointing to something across the water and that's when he saw Clarissa. She was unconscious and seemed to be caught in some of the debris of the facility that had gathered against the shoreline. The water showed no mercy to her as it washed over her in waves. She looked pale and showed no sign of life.

Dominic tried to think of some way he could get to her, but before he even had the chance, the scattered remains of the dam she clung to broke away. He climbed down from the boulder and hung on to it till the last possible moment as Clarissa floated passed. The river quickly swallowed him up, but he swam with the current until finally reaching the angel. She still showed no signs of life as he pulled her against him, reaching out to grab at the branches of a downed tree whose roots held fast to the shore. His fingers ached from the cold and he knew he wouldn't be able to hold onto the wood forever as his strength was beginning to give out against the unrelenting water.

Suddenly, an iron like grip clutched around his forearm. Flint had managed to make his way out onto the collapsed trunk and reached down to pull Clarissa from the water. Dominic groaned out using the last of his strength to help push her out of the river before climbing out as his broken rib screamed against his efforts. He could hear the wood beginning to crack and splinter. It was only a matter of moments before it became a victim to the river as Flint lifted Clarissa in his arms and Dom managed to get to his feet. The two had only just touched the sturdy ground of the woods before the tree was pulled away.

The therian leaned against a nearby tree for a moment, looking down to see the boy who was softly crying and staring at Clarissa as she lay deathly still. Dom stumbled to his knees and took a deep breath in and out to gather his bearings before tilting her chin back. He opened her mouth and closed her nose with his fingers, breathing into her, despite the barely shallow breaths he could muster himself. "Come on..." Placing a hand over the other and near her heart, Dominic pressed down on her chest to give her steady compressions, but there was still no response. His eyes scanned her body to see if there were other injuries he might've missed; A possible blow to the head, but he saw nothing. "Come on, Clarissa!" Breathing into her again, he felt her body give a slight jolt as the water from her lungs poured from her mouth. He quickly turned her onto her side and felt a heaviness lift as he collapsed on his back in relief. "Bout time, woman."

Once the water hit and continued to carry everyone and everything in its path down the river, she realised that not even the strongest swimmers would have much luck battling the waves which continuously loomed over them and pulled them under. Many people didn’t know that about Clarissa, that she struggled greatly when it came to water; she feared but also respected this aspect of Mother nature, but not once did the League ever put her on a mission or in a situation that involved water - thus, there was never an urgent need to become fully confident in the water. At first, she found herself fighting the current, battling the waves which threatened to take her life all the while attempting to dodge the numerous amounts of rocks and boulders, along with the many different tree branches and barks which had also fallen victim to the sudden outrage of mother nature. Despite not being the strongest swimmer known to man, she noticed that her own physical strength was at question. It was common knowledge that although Nephilim were just as slow as that of a human; their physical strength almost knew no bounds, therefore, the strength of the current should have been no problem for her.

Throughout the turbulent journey of gasping for air before being sucked under, she tried to think rationally and wondered whether or not the jewel in her pocket was affecting her strength; it was a probable cause and the urge to rid herself of it - to allow the water to take the pretty little thing was incredibly high. However, she just couldn’t do it, both herself and Dominic had risked too much for her to recklessly let go of the jewel for the sake of it; yet she could argue it was to save her life if the water did swallow her whole. The Nephilim continued to gasp for her and each time she resurfaced, she attempted to look out to see if she could see anyone but to no avail; for the first time that evening, she hoped that Flint was alright but that primarily down to making sure that the boy was alive. Yes, she didn’t like children but nevertheless the kid did not deserve to die this way. The waves were also too loud for her to hear the other screams or grunts or shouts for help but all of that would be for nothing as before she knew it; it felt as if someone had grabbed both of her ankles and yanked her under - holding her captive.

The water soon filled her lungs, choking her and stealing any air which resided within her; Clarissa was very fond of death and thus accepted her own death many years ago; however, death by drowning was not how she anticipated or wanted to go. However, life had a cruel way at times, therefore she began to accept her death and welcome the water which filled her innards; and soon enough, darkness welcomed her like an old friend - it wrapped his arms around her and soothed her into a peaceful slumber. Although she was now away and frollicking in the darkness, the waves took a toll on her body; her skin being battered and bruised by the many builders and branches which struggled next to her in the water.

Just as she getting comfortable within the darkness and the ever looming death; she could hear Death’s calling, his intoxicating voice which beckoned her forward yet she felt a rough tug to try and bring her back to the light. The sound of Dominic’s voice calling her backward and for once she was torn - she desperately wanted to live, but death was never at all that bad; however, after a few moments, she allowed the light to pull her back and soon enough, her lungs coughed up the endless amounts of water which she had swallowed. The coughs were sharp and hard against her chest which ultimately caused her to flinch in pain, her arms curling around her chest to keep herself together. Her chapped lips curled at Dominic’s grunt. “Did you just kiss me, Pup?” Rissa teased, albeit incredibly weakly and her voice croaky. She let her body sink into the damp ground before attempting to sit up, relieved to see that the rest of their party had survived what she would call the hardest fight of the evening; she nodded to Flint before glancing at the boy - fright radiating off of him like a bad smell. “We need to reunite him” She coughed again, her hand patting down her pockets to make sure the jewel was still on her being; relieved that it was still there before regarding the Lycan.

Dominic smirked at her comment about the kiss and closed his eyes as he lay on the ground in exhaustion. "It seemed like the right thing to do, though my offer from inside the Organisation still stands. In fact, I plan on taking off for a few days after this crazy ass ordeal, so plenty of free time to repay the favor." He turned his head to look at her and laughed shortly before the searing pain from his rib caused him to groan. With a wince, Dominic turned over and slowly stood up to get the boy on his feet again. He seemed to have stopped crying seeing Clarissa awake again, but had yet to really say a word. He imagined it was quite impossible for the kid to even process everything that had happened to him, but hoped that wherever his parents were, they would be able to help him find some normalcy.

Turning to the nephilim, he offered a hand to get her up and felt... odd. His gaze scanned her body as if he could see the reason for it, but met her eyes for a long moment. "I can't believe you still have it." Dominic felt very human then and hadn't realized how long it had really been affecting him until now. In the river he had just assumed it was from fatigue that had caused him to lose most of his strength, but now that he was more aware, all the small things seemed to be more acute because they actually weren't anymore. He would naturally block out the overactive senses that caused him to hear things from farther away than most could or smell everything so powerfully around him. His brow raised slightly as he realized he no longer could smell her specific scent despite being right next to her. It also accounted for the lack of healing going on with his rib. It made him feel rather vulnerable and he sighed out. "Let's get out of here."

The foursome managed their way through the trees and came back to the car they'd used on their way to the now destroyed Roosevelt Dam. He scanned the area, but could not see any threat nearby. Dominic felt like he could sleep for a month as he turned the car on and waited as everyone heavily got inside. He flicked on the heat in some attempts to keep them warm from the icy water they'd all just fell victim to before heading back through the woods and onto the main highway that lead through all of Evermore.

The ride was silent as he drove them to the safe house. Seeing the military truck on the tucked away ranch was rather odd, but comforting as Dominic knew the others had made it. Parking the car, he climbed out and saw the others emerge from inside the property now wearing different clothes that were available to whomever happened to be staying there at the time. Upon seeing her brother, the little girl ran over and collided with the boy which caused them to almost fall over. Dom walked up the few wooden steps and shook hands with the man before starting the grueling task of telling the adults that it was best to not mention the details of where'd they been held captive to the police. He didn't know how far the operation for that jewel went and if there would be more people out there looking to find the ones that knew of their plans. He could only hope the children would understand the importance of not talking to anyone else after he had a chance to find their parents. In the supernatural world, Dominic had a feeling they would understand why keeping this quiet was better for everyone.

He walked out onto the large wraparound porch where Clarissa and Flint stood away from everyone. Dominic rested against the railing and looked to the dhampir with an appreciative nod. "Suppose you weren't all bad in the end, Flint. My need to smash your head into the ground has lessened. Slightly." His gaze fell onto Clarissa and he smirked slightly. "Though I can't speak for her."

"I'm not all bad, really. Just an opportunist," he joked in return, grinning. "Well, I better get outta here. I think a fresh start somewhere else would be the best play and a lot of distance from Clarissa." He nodded to them both and backpeddled, saluting them in farewell as he headed for the road.

"Yeah, stay out of trouble." Dominic turned around and leaned onto the railing as he looked out along the vast and open property which was surrounded by the woods. As Clarissa stood next to him he couldn't help but be hyperaware that he wasn't in fact hyperaware. "Now the big question remains. Do we begin our epic battle to determine what happens to the jewel? Or perhaps we can come to some common ground now." He sighed out and finally glanced over to her with a smile as he wrapped his arm across his midsection, grimacing. "I like to put my vote in for the talking because I don't know about you, but I feel like I've been hit by a truck."

The weary Nephilm chuckled wearily at his reply back to her question of his kiss and shook her head against the damp ground; a few days away did sound appealing and perhaps needed after the whole ordeal. She turned her head to look at him and grinned. "I saved your ass inside of The League, so in fact, you just repaid the favour" Rissa nodded, but was pleasantly surprised when no one commented on the fact that the water almost killed her; besides, even if they had teased her about her swimming capabilities, she would have easily blamed the jewel which was resting in her pocket - they would have not been any of the wiser of her weakness. Yet, his comment about taking a few days away after all of this hand settled down was incredibly appealing; and just from her aching body alone, she knew she would need to take it easy for a little while to regain physical and mental strength to tackle the next round of battles. "Plan on taking off anywhere nice?" She queried with a quirk of her brow as the mud slowly moulded around her body.

Rissa blinked some as she saw his hand reach out to help her up onto her feet, and despite her current situation, her body was so tired; she believed the mud would be much better than whatever standing had to offer - yet she knew she could stay down here for long. A groan parted her lips as she accepted his offer and wobbled some as she found her footing, she chuckled slightly at his comment. “Trust me, it was very tempting to lose it within the rapids there. It makes you weaker than any human, I swear” Clarissa complained for a brief moment, knowing too well that he was being affected by it also; she was not blind and clearly saw that he had hurt his ribs in the fiasco of this evening. “Please, I would rather not face those guys again with the strength of a child” She muttered before glancing down at the actual child in their group. “No offence, kid” A brief smile found her lips before they began their way back through the trees to find where they left the car.

The moment the warm hair blew from the vents in the car, a sigh of relief left her and almost on cue, she melted comfortably down into the leather seats; the natural swaying movement of the car as they drove back to the safe house automatically sent her into a peaceful slumber, which her body welcomed eagerly. Yet the sleep was short lived as they parked up, the slight jolt of the car beckoning her back to the living; her eyes squinted a little upon seeing small clusters of other supernatural beings who all stood outside and watched the car drive up suspiciously. “They were all captured? Fuck me” She murmured and stepped out of the car; a light smile played on her lips as the two children became reunited; Rissa could sense that some were still wary of her, purely because they could feel their power being eaten by the pretty little thing in her pocket.

“C’mon Flint” She grinned as she turned to walk onto the porch and away from the small clusters of family; her gaze watched Dominic as he went through group by group explaining to them what had happened - she could see it in their eyes and actions just how grateful they were of him saving their lives. Her forearms rested against the wooden handrail as she engaged in small talk with the Dhampir; part of which she partly apologised, in her own very special way for how she was with him throughout the mission. No one ever truly got a proper apology out of her - therefore, if he missed the signs of it, it was his own loss. A chuckle bypassed her lips at Dom’s comment as he joined them, her gaze flickering between the two males. “I don’t know, his face is still kind of annoying” She teased some before snapping her teeth towards Flint as he left the two of them to it; Rissa watched him as he disappeared. “I doubt that will be the last we see of that little shit”

Her lips rolled together as the big question finally loomed over them now that they were in safety, at least for the time being; neither of them had anything to track them to the location - at least in the eyes of the The League. “No fighting, and that is something I thought I would never say” Rissa mused before bringing the jewel out of her pocket, flipping it up into the air only to catch it in the palm of her hand. “Well, we know what The League wants with it, and I’d rather it not fall into their hands. What do the Aspects want with it? I can’t imagine it’ll be anywhere near as bad, but perhaps it’s better off being destroyed either way” She glanced up at the Therian with a quirked brow.

Dominic watched as the brightened jewel flipped into the air and landed in her palm. He didn't respond right away as he turned his gaze away from her and stared out onto the massive green property. Being a Guard had always been something to keep him on the straight and narrow. He'd been at a very low point in his life before having been found by one of the most powerful supernaturals in the world, drunk, angry, and figuratively lost at a dive bar in middle America. He still wasn't sure what it was that drew Aureus to him, but Dom knew that if it hadn't been for their meeting, he'd most likely be locked up or dead on the side of a road.

Perhaps it was because of that he felt the need to just be the good soldier. He rarely asked the meaning or whys behind the missions he was given. If the Aspects needed something, Dominic would gather all the intel he needed and be off. Sometimes he went off with barely any information at all. He supposed it was a blind faith he'd begun to believe in when it came to the Ailwards. He in fact owed them everything for the chance at a new life. It was also easier to believe he was always doing right by them which meant he was making a difference in the world. There was never an internal battle of what was considered right and wrong when the Aspects could make the decision for you.

Now here he was with quite the dilemma. His hazel hues darkened a bit as his mind played out all the different scenarios. "They want to keep it safe. Locked away," he began, standing up from leaning on the railing and resting back against one of the wooden pillars with his arms folded. "The Aspects, they keep dangerous magical artifacts from getting into the wrong hands. Those hands namely being The League and those humans for instance. I've collected quite a few over the years and that jewel would be the most powerful yet." He turned to look at her hand which held the red stone and then met her eyes. "I don't even know if I think that's the best idea anymore." Dominic's instinct was telling him to destroy the powerful object and despite always sticking to the mission, the therian couldn't push aside what had always been his best ability of all; even if it wasn't supernatural. They'd certainly seen plenty of evidence to vote for its destruction.

A short silence fell between the pair before he dropped his arms and spoke with a strong conviction. "Let's destroy the damn thing." As the words left his lips, Dom felt like it was the only choice. The Aspects would just have to accept that the jewel was lost to the raging waters of the Roosevelt Dam. He made his way down the porch steps and beckoned Clarissa to follow with a short nod of his head, leading the way around the safe house. The back of the property held a barn which still had all the tools and equipment from its previous owners that the Ailwards never saw reason to be rid of. Dominic pulled open the sliding door of the weathered structure and picked up one of the dust covered axes on the wall. He waited for Clarissa to place the stone down on the chopping block outside before getting a good grip on the handle and raising it high above his head. Glancing to Clarissa one last time, he took aim and dropped the blade swiftly, cracking the jewel to pieces.

The motion made him wince slightly from the injury to his ribs, but a second later and he was already feeling the pain subside. His head cocked slightly to the side as he heard the voices of the other supernaturals at the front of the house begin to drift along the wind. A soft sigh escaped his lips as the normality of being a lycan began to wash over him like a comforting wave. Looking to the angel next to him, he smirked. "Well, you still owe me dinner."
