Sariah hadn't felt the way she had about a relationship like this in a long time, it was that kinda feeling where your mind constantly drifted to one person at random points in the day, thinking about their smile, or the way their voice would change when they said different works, it was her doodling all over her notebooks at work when she normally preferred them clean and pristine. She knew she felt a little like a teenager with her first crush but she also didn't want to stop, the feeling was good and it brought of light to her life, she looked forward to getting odd texts from Orion throughout the day or their evening phone calls where they would just talk about anything and everything.

Sariah was starting to truly believe in the idea of a relationship again. There was one problem though. The two of them were still keeping everything on the down low. At first, it had made sense, she didn't want his kids finding out what they were via the front pages of the paper and there was always going to be that worry about the other ambassadors would look differently on them both once their relationship went public. But it was hard to have what felt like a big part of her life now, something she couldn't really talk about and she wasn't even sure the reasons for doing so were good anymore.

The blonde sighed leaning against her desk, she really did like to overthink things, she was sure if she just told Orion she wanted to go public he'd probably be fine with it but every time she thought about saying it she chickened out again and changed the subject. This was her problem with everything, after being in quite possibly the most toxic relationship she could have ever been in, she doubted and questioned everything, even when the rational part of her knew she was worrying over nothing. She ran her fingers over the notebook in front of her and turned it to the next page, at the same time as pondering over her feelings she was actually trying to solve a particularly difficult coding problem she'd run into, though her mind wasn't really in it.

She had to brave at some point right? She prompted herself with a shake of her head, who was this girl that sat around moping about the things she wanted instead of taking charge. She had been the one to give Orion her number, she had taken charge then so she could do it now. She took a long breath before she pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed Orion's number. She pressed the phone between her ear and her shoulder so she didn't need to hold it while she worked on the problem which was starting to drive her inside. When she heard the receiver connect the call she smiled softly hearing his voice down the line "Hey, I dunno if you saw, I mean you probably did see because it's all over the news and stuff and they literally don't shut up about it, but there's a meteor shower tonight" ah, the usual rambling that would probably follow her to the grave "Anyway I was planning on putting on like 4 coats and watching it from the park and I wondered if maybe you wanted to go?" she bit her lip and held her breath as she waited for his response.

Losing the light of your life was no easy matter, if left you in a very dark place, especially when the majority of your life had been spent with the same person day in and day out. You woke up with them, went to bed with them and repeated the cycle, though sometimes you did or said stupid things which caused the other to sleep on the couch or kick you out of the bed but that was a true relationship, the good times and the bad ones. After spending over a year in perpetual night, he found the beginning rays of the dawn sun rising on the night he met Sariah, she hadn’t seen the best of him that night nor the worst but he felt like she had been her genuine and sincere self which is what caught his attention. Other than the whole episode of being blinded, that was an avoidable situation but truly it did make for an amusing story which he could think back on and brought about a laugh or a smile. Since that night it was like watching the sun rise, the more time he spent with her the more he cared about her and understood her and the closer they became. It wasn’t the most traditional of relationships to be sure but he cared about her more than he could figure out how to even explained.

Nothing in his life had been easy and Sariah was no exception but if there was one thing he was sure of it was the simple fact that she was worth it. If neither of them cared they wouldn’t get so upset with one another when they placed themselves in harms way and though he didn’t want her to ever get hurt he respected that her live was hers to live and her decisions hers as well, whether he liked them or not. It had been a sobering realization to come to since he cared so much about her but he had to allow her to be her own person, he didn’t want to control or own her, especially after all she had shared with him. Which is why he left so much in her hands, taking the reigns running the potential of scaring her off even though she said that would never happen. Everything between them was something he couldn’t lose, he already thought he had once and it was the worse weeks of his life.

The dynamic between them seemed to have changed recently and despite their daily conversations it seemed like there was something she was keeping from him. Digging was a dangerous thing to do so he was waiting for her to say what was on her mind. Though if she didn’t come out with it soon he might lose his mind since it was beginning to bother him since he was wondering if he was doing something wrong but he knew she would call him out or at least he hoped that she would and given her strong personality and she knew he was an open person which he hoped helped in whatever situation they were in.

Normally the male was supposed to be the one to take charge and push and he was the take charge sort but with Sariah he wasn’t sure they were on that footing or in that place yet. She was incredibly independent and that was the last thing he wanted to take from her. But he was about at the point of trying to pry her thoughts from her so he could ease her mind and his own, though maybe it was something involving The Organization which she couldn’t discuss with him. His thoughts were pulled back to the fact that he was still at the office staring at a contract which he needed to read and then either mark with edits for negotiation or sign since it was for an upcoming event in the city. Though it was his ringing phone which pulled his attention more than his work which he knew it was Sariah thanks to the fact he had set up ‘Unspoken’ as her personalized ringtone since that night.

There was a smile on his face as he hit the accept button, “Well hey beautiful, did you get the feeling I need technical support?” He mused before she began to speak, for a moment his mind went through everything that the news covered since they tended to blather on a lot. Though there was a split second on if it was them but that fear quickly drifted away as she spoke of the meteor shower. The smile on his face grew as she continued on her classic and adorable rambling and he knew where it was headed but he hated cutting off her rambling because he really enjoyed it. “I’d love to put on a few coats, bring a blanket or two and watch the meteor shower with you and maybe have a bit of a chat.” Of course as soon as the words were out of his mouth he realized how they might be conceived. "Not a bad kind of chat, just a chat. I feel like I'm making this worse." And he likely was which wasn't the intention but relationships were a hard thing to navigate and it had been awhile.

Sariah was really glad for the freedom she had in this relationship, she didn’t feel like there was pressure on her to be or act a certain way, in fact Orion could often seem a little distant at times and let her come to him, she didn’t mind that because it gave her time to process everything happening around her and then react at her own pace. She was a very busy person and she knew that he was too and yet they both did their best to make time for one another throughout the day, whether it be a text message or a call over lunch, it felt about as normal as she hoped a relationship would one day be for her and she was thankful that he was giving her the space she needed to adapt.

But she did feel like now was the right time to start taking things more seriously, it wasn’t just the odd date here and there anymore, they were talking on the daily, she’d met his kids, it all felt like things were moving pretty fast but she didn’t feel overwhelmed and she figured that was a good sign. When he answered the call she felt her heart flutter just a little when the first words he spoke called her beautiful and she let out a soft laugh that she reserved just for him “Well you’ve gotten pretty adept at using your phone recently so that’s definitely not it” she teased, smiling a little as she spoke, she appreciated him making the effort despite not really being a techy person like she was.

She went quiet as she waited for him to respond to her offer and then smiled when he agreed to it, though she sucked in a breath for a moment when he said about having a chat, why did the idea of actually doing that kind terrify her? She shook her head at herself, she really had to stop getting herself so worked up about everything, this was supposed to be the good and stress-free part of her life, at least for a few more months anyway. He must have noticed her lack of words because he followed it up and she laughed again “I can do a chat” she admitted “Though I can’t promise that it won’t be 80% me rambling and 20% you wondering how you put up with my strange brain” she figured she’d make light of it because they didn’t need more reasons to be nervous.

“I get off work about 6 so I’ll meet you around 8?” she offered before running her tongue over her bottom lip as she finally realized the answer to the puzzle she had been trying to solve for the past 2 hours “That’s it” she stated in shock as she pressed her hand against her cheek “Brainwave has hit so I’ve gotta go but I’ll text you the address okay?” she was already scribbling down the idea on the notebook before she could forget it after she said goodbye and ended the call. She quickly texted him the location of the park she’d heard would have good views tonight, she debated what to end the text with before she decided on a yellow heart emoji and tapped send.

The last few hours of work seemed to fly by and before she knew it she was back at her apartment debating what to wear for her impromptu date. It wasn’t like her to make last minute plans so she was freaking out a little but she went with it. Digging through her wardrobe she decided on several layers knowing that it was still chilly in the evenings right now. It took her the full hour and a half she had left herself to get home, shower, change into her outfit and eat the leftover takeout she’d gotten the other night so she wouldn’t be starving all evening and now it was 7:30pm and time to head out.

Pulling on her winter coat, hat and scarf and grabbing the thermos of hot cocoa she had made she headed out onto the streets. The park was about a 10-minute walk from her city center apartment, one of the perks of living in the middle of the city was having nearly everything you could want a walking distance away. By the time she arrived at the park, dark was falling over Evermore city. Surprisingly there were a fair few groups of people sitting on the grass, huddled together but just like she imagined, they were all figures that you couldn’t really see the faces of thanks to the dark. It was a good setting for a public but not public date. The blonde was busy staring at the groups of people for a few moments, caught up in her own little world that she didn’t even hear her name being called.

Hearing Sariah’s voice always brought a smile to his face, it was usually calm and cheerful if not sometimes a bit nervous and hesitant but that was Sariah and he wouldn’t ever want to change that. “See an old fox can learn a new trick or two and they said it couldn’t be done and yet with the right person anything is possible.” He easily teased back since he wasn’t exactly technologically challenged but he was so incredibly far from being on Sariah’s level and he was fine with that since they both had their strengths and weaknesses. Orion also wasn’t the sort to fully rely on another for things, he was still teachable and listened which made things rather interesting and fun since he was learning something new everyday, usually with Sariah’s assistance.

The subtle but audible harp inhalation of breath made it clear that his words had an unintended affect on Sariah but he was quick to clear it up. Afterall, the last thing he wanted was for Sariah to spend the next few hours worried over what he meant or thinking his words had a negative connotation since they weren’t meant that way. “I think there are just somethings we both want to discuss is all. I’m happy with you and with us so don’t even worry over that. Besides a conversation without your ramblings wouldn’t be much of a conversation and would definitely take a lot of the fun out of it. Your strain brain makes you uniquely you and if you didn’t know, I’m a rather big fan of you.” Which was something he never had an issue stating since she deserved to know what he thought and he did think the world of her. She was strong, fearless, intelligent and head-strong in the best way.

“8 sounds good, now get back to being the smartest person in the room and using that brain of yours.” He stated with a laugh as she seemed to come to some realization while talking to him and he was glad she found a solution or answer to whatever problem had been plaguing her mind, “I’ll see you tonight.” He said before the call ended so she could use whatever she had just thought of before it slipped through her fingers once more. For some reason the conversation seemed to make it easier to focus as he looked at the contract once more and wrote a few notes off to the side on edits or things they needed to negotiate, his mind in a much better place after that short conversation. Responding to her text he let he know he would be there and was looking forward to it before placing a green heart at the end. He couldn’t exactly tell you why he went with green but he liked it.

Getting on the phone for contract negotiations took up the majority of his afternoon as he went back and forth with a company on their needs, what they wanted and what he was willing to provide for the budged they had. Obviously some compromises had to be made but he was impressed with how easily it was all handled and by the end of the day both sides were happy and the contract was signed so he had another of Evermore’s business which would be covered by his security firm. That was something he would definitely consider as a win and something worth celebrating with his employees but that would have to wait for another day. The drive home was a short one which was followed by a shower and a change of clothes which was rather casual attire, pair of dark wash jeans, a sweater and his trusty leather jacket, along with a pair of tennis shoes as he grabbed a blanket to sit on and a nice warm one they could use to wrap around them since it was a rather cold night.

Grabbing his phone, keys and wallet he headed out to the car before making the short drive towards the park where he had to park his car a few blocks away which he wasn’t too worried about. Grabbing the blankets out of the passenger seat he headed in to find Sariah. There were already a few people gathered but most of the lights within the park itself had been turned off for the night so the sky was easier to view. Spotting and familiar bundled up blonde he couldn’t help but chuckle, “Sariah!” He called out though she seemed to be a bit caught up in either something she was seeing or her own mind to hear him. Approaching he was wise enough to keep a bit of a safe distance well aware of what might happen should he surprised her, “Sariah, are you ready to find a good viewing spot?” He asked still a few feet back since it would be hard to enjoy any sights tonight if he got blinded again. Though they were in rather public area but it was hard not to be overly cautious at times.

Sariah still had her levels of insecurity when it came to the idea of a relationship, she knew it was something she would only ever really shake by facing it head on but that didn’t stop her mind from often jumping to the worst case scenario irrationally. Orion had been pretty great at being upfront with her though and that helped to keep her worries at bay, she smiled softly when he assured her down the phone that he was happy, the very idea of that made her happy too but it was his words he spoke afterwards that gave her heart that fluttery feeling that she was starting to familiarize with being around the therianthrope alpha “Good” she responded, her voice giving away the fact she was smiling like an idiot “I’m happy too” she assured him, she wasn’t the best at expressing herself with words but she didn’t want him to think she intended on pulling away from him, it was quite the opposite.

Sariah laughed softly at the way he told her to get back to work, it was sweet but also playful “And you kick all those business deals into shape” she responded brightly, she knew he was going under a lot of negotiation for new customers lately and it was pretty stressful, especially because running a business wasn’t what Orion was qualified in, much like she wasn’t really trained to run a secret organization but they made do with the roles they played. “Bye” she spoke as she ended the call and got to work on solving her problem. She almost felt a little silly for not seeing this solution before, because now she was writing it down on the paper it all made sense and covered all the requirements she had been pondering over for the past few hours.

Seeing Orion had returned her text she smiled softly at the little green heart at the end, she’d taken to adding on to the end of her texts for the past few weeks, the bright colors reminding her of how his messages throughout the day brightened her day. It was silly really, but she had always been a sucker for the little details, getting herself wrapped up in them more often than not. The rest of the day seemed to pass quickly, once her solution was sketched out she had started a mock-up of the solution on her laptop just to verify that what she was thinking worked and then she had passed it over to the intelligence department for review and development.

The time seemed to fly lately, she never felt like she had enough time for all the things she wanted to do, from her full-time work to ensuring that she kept up with friends and now scheduling in dates regularly the blonde rarely found herself with nothing to do. Not that she was complaining, Sariah had always been a busy person, she liked having problems to solve and things to look forward to. As she arrived at the park however she reminded herself that sometimes she needed to take a moment to breathe and that not everything in her life needed to be quite so full on, that was a strange concept for her but she had been trying her best to go with it and Orion helped with that greatly, considering he was quite a laid back personality.

She was completely lost in thought as she looked out over the dark area that she seemed to completely zone out, she was very good at that, always getting lost in her own little world as her mother always called it. The second time Orion spoke to her she recognized his voice and turned towards him, realizing she had totally been blanking him she smiled apologetically “Sorry I was just thinking about how pretty it all looked” she admitted, though she noted the way he kept a few feet of distance and she nodded slightly, public area...of course. She did her best to cover the slight disappointment as she started to speak “Have you ever seen a meteor shower before?” she asked with raised brows “When I was young I begged my dad to let me stay up past my bedtime so I could see one, imagine us both on this tiny balcony with my massive telescope that took most of the room” she laughed softly and ran her hand through her hair which was actually down and hanging in loose curls around her shoulders today rather than her usual ponytail.

Whilst she was talking away she jerked her chin a little for him to follow her and she lead him in the direction of a spot she had scouted out while she had been staring over the par, it was tucked away to the side but it was on a slightly raised bank which should allow them to see better over the trees. She cleared her throat a little as she thought about the logistics of all this, she hadn’t really thought about what exactly she wanted to say or how. So instead she changed the subject until she could figure out what to say “I brought hot cocoa” she spoke softly as she showed him the flask she was holding “It’s a super secret recipe so I fully recommend you take advantage” she mused as she lowered herself down onto the ground and crossed her legs in front of her, she felt a bit of the wind chill and shivered slightly, she was very glad she had dressed for the cold because it was pretty chilly tonight.

At some point Orion was really going to need to hire someone to handle the day to day workings of the security firm or potentially chat with Arwyn and see if that was something he wanted to takeover. If not Orion would never push the issue since that was his son’s decision and there were always people looking for administration jobs since his business partner had up and left the city. The Therian wasn’t sure he would consider taking on a business partner again but it had been a good learning experience and he was a better businessman for it. Though being a businessman was not what he had wanted to say the least, he was better at the whole protection part then the contract negotiation part. But it did take a good portion of his day along with schedules and payroll once a week.

There were a lot of things in his life he wasn’t good at or were more a bother than anything else, business was one of them but a relationship with Sariah was not. It was far from easy and there seemed to be new hurtles to overcome all the time but they were nothing but honest with each other and they were always themselves and to him that was what mattered. Obviously neither was perfect and each had their own flaws but they each accepted that and had already gone through their own nine circles of hell and were still standing. The Kitsune liked to think they were stronger for it but they were finally in a good place and usually that meant a hell of a storm was on the horizon but maybe this time would be different.

The Therian Ambassador had never been one to take the easy route and he wasn’t going to now, Sariah wasn’t the easiest relationship for him. Her independence was a constant reminder to him that she didn’t need him, every aspect of her life was something she could handle but she wanted him to be part of his life and he was never going to push her. They both had their own issues they were working past and it was going to be hard to reign in his protective nature since he knew how much it bothered her at times because she could take care of herself. Neither wanted to change the other but co-existence was something they were still figuring out. As long as his fear of losing her didn’t rear it’s head things would hopefully be alright.

The park looked different at night, the usual lights for security were out so that everyone could see the night sky better and clearer. So the only real light was coming from the stars, moon and the flashlights on phones. His human eyes could see a little better at night than a human but for nocturnal vison he would have to use his alpha eyes but they were rather bright and would bring a lot of notice so that was out of the question. There were still so many civilians who didn’t know what they lived side by side with everyday and keeping them from figuring that out was a pretty high priority. But he found Sariah easier than a human male likely would have but he knew her scent well, coupled with his better than normal night vision. As she realized he was saying her name and turned he smiled at her, liking how she could get so into observing the world around her and focus on one thing and block the rest out. It was an impressive skill to be honest.

“I’ve always been rather interested in the stars and not just because of the celestial theme my parents used to name their sons. It actually once thought I would major in astronomy, obviously I didn’t do much with that.” He said in a light and joking tone since he did know more about astronomy than most realized but that was one of his hidden talents. “I’ve seen shooting stars before but not an entire meteor shower. Those kind of things were easier to view in the desert opposed to the city but I think it’s all about the company.” And he was rather fond of his so he knew it was going to be a good night. As he listened to Sariah it wasn’t hard to visualize the scene she set and he couldn’t help but chuckle, “That doesn’t surprise me at all. But it’s such a cute visual to be honest.” He mused knowing in that regard Sariah hadn’t changed much over the years, it was good to have a hobby and still enjoy things you had when you were younger.

Sure that Sariah had already scouted a spot he followed as she lead since she was much more a planner than he was. For the most part he just went with the flow of things and took life as it came since that was more natural for him. The area she had picked for them was a great place with an amazing view of the sky above them. “Hang on, I brought some blankets.” He said before laying them out so they wouldn’t have to sit on the damp earth which was a bit chilly as well. “Super special and secret recipe hot chocolate? Who could say no to that?” He asked as he wrapped another blanket and shook it out before wrapping it around their shoulders. “What’s been on your mind recently?” He asked rather suddenly and a bit blunt since he didn’t want to beat around the bush with her because he was afraid that despite thinking things were going well that they weren’t. “You just seem to have something weighing on you and if it’s me I just want us to clear it up.”

The idea of a relationship had been something she had avoided for the longest time, really she had allowed herself to believe it was a bad thing, a drag on her life. In the time the two of them had been dating he had managed to slowly turn that idea around in her head, he made her believe in the idea of it again and despite them taking things very slowly, she found herself getting more and more attached to the idea of it all. The blonde did her best to push away her fears when she was around him so it could just be them and that made things easier for her, just them was simple, but she was starting to want more than that.

Her individuality had been somewhat of a major topic for the both of them, Orion was understandably a protective person who always wanted to look out for others and she wasn’t the type to like anyone suggesting what she should and shouldn’t do. Still, she was learning to compromise, letting him know where she was going or what she was doing so he wouldn’t have to worry about her and really she liked sharing parts of her life with him. It felt like commitment to her, on both their parts. Still, she thought it was going well, she felt good about the whole thing, which wasn’t something she could say about any other relationship she’d had in the past few years.

She wasn’t really sure what it was about the stars and planets that fascinated her so much, perhaps the way that they felt so much bigger than everything they knew, there were millions of them, just going about their way, to them, people like her were irrelevant, but to her, the stars were beautiful and bright and lit up her life. She was just kinda captivated in that thought and view as she stood there, eyes to the sky and mouth slightly agape in wonder. Sariah was very good at losing herself in the moment, she could stare into space for hours on end just enveloped with her own thoughts and never get bored of it. Orion’s voice, however, was able to pull her out of her daze and she turned towards him the second time he spoke.

Sariah was actually pretty surprised when he said he was interested in astronomy, so much so that a wide impressed grin appeared on her lips as she took in the information and processed it, she could kinda see it though, he was wise and more thoughtful than most people gave him credit for “Yeah I never actually got to see one either” she admitted with a slight chuckle “Turns out even excited young me couldn’t stay awake long past bedtime” she admitted with a soft smile, that’s why she had been looking forward to this particular night for a long time, planning the best place in Evermore to see it and praying that it wouldn’t rain. Inviting Orion to come had been more spur of the moment, she had been thinking about how excited she was and then she’d wanted to share that feeling with him and now here they were. When he said her memory was cute she scrunched up her nose a little and laughed “Did you have something you obsessed over as a kid?” she asked curiously.

Of course, being the person she was, she had scouted the best spot in the park the moment she got here. Leading the way she was about to sit down when he mentioned to hang on and so she wobbled a little on one leg while he set down the blanket on the ground “Damn you came prepared” she commented as she sat down against the soft fabric. “Definitely not anyone I’ve offered it to before” she commented as she offered the flask out to him. She was a little surprised when she felt the warm blanket being wrapped around her shoulder, it just about covered them both where they were sitting but it was a little stretched so she moved a little closer to him, her shoulder bumping against his side gently as she did so.

She had just settled herself when he bluntly brought up the topic as though he could read her mind and her blue hues widened a little as she felt caught off guard by the directness of the question, she shifted a little feeling a little nervous to word what she wanted to say “I uh..” she paused doing her best not to freeze up, she didn’t even know why she was getting so worked up about it “I know we talked about..” she swallowed “The other ambassadors and you know, what it could mean for our roles in the city and we decided to take things slow and that has been so good for me and I’m really happy and I really didn’t believe that I could be after everything that happened in the past” she stopped to take a breath realizing she was rambling like crazy “I guess what I’m trying to say is that I feel ready to figure out what our next step is” she met his eyes a little vulnerable wondering what his reaction might be.

It had been a few years since Orion had decided it was time to move on, since he had made peace with the violent passing of his wife of close to twenty years. Though dating and relationships were still questionable territory for him but as a Therian he was only half way through his life span which meant he had a long while to live, if he was lucky and doing that alone…he had realized was terrifying and utterly boring. He and Sariah both had their own pasts with relationships and hers…made him see red and it was best that he didn’t dwell on it since she was this vivid and extraordinary person who deserved so much more from life. The Kitsune had found that was something he wanted to show her, that relationships weren’t meant to be that way and that things could be better. Had he messed up in the past few years? Of course, he was perfectly imperfect which meant mistakes were natural but they had moved past it and continued on.

The differences in personality were actually rather enjoyable at times since despite butting heads over certain matters they did their best not to allow it to turn into a fight and took time when necessary. Sariah was an incredibly independent person and it was part of her charm and not something he wanted to change but he did also know at times he needed to back off as well because he couldn’t smoother her or make her decisions for her. As the Human Ambassador she needed to make the best choices for herself and her faction even if it did scare the hell out of him at times when she put herself into the line of fire. Which she often reminded him that he had no issue with doing himself, which was true and there shouldn’t be a double standard. Male or female, human or therian, it didn’t matter because they were capable of looking after themselves, even if it was a hard thing for Orion swallow at times.

It was nice to be able to experience something such as tonight ad enjoy it with someone who was just as excited as he was about the coming the events. Granted he tended to keep his excitement locked inside but when Sariah lite up in such a way her enthusiasm just radiated off of her. Destiny had put up with his knowledge of astronomy and keeping the kids up late to look through the telescope up at the night sky but it had never really been something they shared. Not that it had bothered Orion since they both had their own passions and that was what made them unique.

The phases of the moon were the most important thing to a therianthrope but how the earth revolved around the sky changing the placements of the stars that you could see was so interesting. Different constellations appearing at different times of the earth. And then celestial events like meteor shows made a person wonder what was going on in the cosmos. “Even as an adult my family was about protecting people no matters the events in the sky above. So nights off to enjoy such things were not really a possibility. It’s nice to rectify that now though.” The city was…mildly stable at the moment so taking a night to just enjoy the world around them was allowed. “What? It sounds adorable and I can just imagine how excited a younger verse of you would be, working yourself up only to fall asleep before seeing what you were staying up for.” It was the honest truth and did bring a smile to his face. As she asked about his own obsessions a thoughtful expression came over his face. “Chess. My whole family was obsessed with Chess and the way it taught you to think multiple moves ahead and t anticipate the move of your opponent. I’m not sure if I was just obsessed because my family was and I wanted to beat my older brothers or if I actually liked it. Those skills have done me well in life though so I can’t really complain.”

His family hadn’t really known childhood, when you were old enough you learned the family history and were pretty much told that one day that would be your life. He hadn’t wanted that for his kids but that was how they had been raised as well but Evermore seemed to be doing wonders for them all. “I’d say it’s the boy scout motto but I think it’s more of the Valkyrie family motto to be prepared.” Sometimes he overthink things and had the tendency to jump to conclusions but he also prepared for issues that may arise. A smile curved his lips as she moved closer and he instinctively wrapped am arm around her waist. It seemed natural, though part of him had to wonder if it was to somewhat sooth her for the conversation to come.

There was an alien feeling of anxiety building within him, causing his stomach to churn and the hot chocolate he was offered to momentarily lose it’s appeal. His mind was running through countless scenarios and jumping to the wildest of conclusions as he tried to calm his mind. His body tensed without him commanding it too, it was already going on guard afraid of what might be to come. Listening closely her words slowly began to ease his mind the tension beginning to leave his body as his expression softened. Her words struck something deep within him and felt odd emotions swell that he hadn’t felt in awhile. Never had he felt like she was ashamed of him by any means it was just easier for them both to take things at their own pace without the rest of the world weighing in on their relationship. “I’m happy too. It’s different and we have our moments but at the end of the day I think we both know we’ll be there for one another whether being there beings giving space or sitting down and having a chat.” They both still very much had their own lives they were just inviting the other in slowly but surely.

“I think we’ve been us long enough that we don’t have to worry about others interfering too much. We both know that Cornelia already knows but she’s close enough to us both that it would be impossible to keep such a thing from her.” Going public was a very big deal though, for both of them but it seemed the right move to make. “I guess the next step would be us being more than just a rumor the underground tabloids use from time to time. Granted there are going to be some that say our alliance between our species is based on our relationship but that was in the works before I even met you.” But people would say what they would and he and Sariah were both going to have to do their best to ignore it if that was the path they decided to take.

Sariah didn’t think them being different was a bad thing, it certainly gave them a lot of differing opinions to talk about and sometimes attempt to find middle ground on, the blonde liked having someone around who challenged her to think different ways and consider other perspectives, Sariah was easily bored but around Orion she always found herself interested, that was how she knew without a doubt that the two of them worked well together and it made her care for him even more. As a leader Sariah had also really found her place, worked on gaining her own confidence in the role she played in this city, she was working on making it a better place one step at a time and she didn’t doubt herself as much as she once did. Orion was becoming bolder and surer in his leadership too, the longer they spent in their respective roles they more they understood and used them.

It made her really happy to learn that they had a shared passion though, they had some others already, but to learn another thing they had in common was significant to her, sometimes she wondered if the age difference between them would put a gap in the things they both liked but she found the distance wasn’t far at all. Other than him avoiding technology at all costs and it being the center of her life of course. Still, the idea of staying up at night just to look through a telescope with him sounded really nice.

Sariah nodded, she knew that there was a lot of responsibility taken up by Orion’s family to protect people in the past, it was why his default in most situations was to jump into protective mode and the did her best to respect that reflex, it wasn’t the kind of habit you could drop in a day after all “It kinda makes me sad to think you never had time to stop and enjoy the little things” she spoke honestly and shrugged her shoulders a little, perhaps they barely had time even now but she did her best to live her life while she had it, she’d seen the pain of a short life before. Sariah scrunched up her nose and then smiled when he commented on younger her falling asleep on the big night “I remember being so mad at my dad for not waking me up” she laughed again “Now it’s just a really good memory” but she was very excited to finally see what she missed.

The answer of chess made a surprised look cross her expression, of all the things she thought he might say, that one did catch her off guard, she listened as he explained the rationale behind him liking it. It sounded very might like he was competitive more than anything but she imagined growing up with two elder brothers you had to be “Did you ever manage to beat them?” she asked with a quirk of her brows “Never got into chess myself, which is probably surprising considering I’m so into coding and both are about logical thinking” she smiled “Maybe you could teach me some time” she suggested with a smile, she imagined she might be pretty good at it, though not as good as someone with years of practice.

The blonde smiled gently, her family had never been the closest, not in the way he described his, she had always been an independent child and was mostly raised by a babysitter rather than her parents. She hadn’t minded that but it did make her wonder if she would have turned out to be different had they been around more. “Not a bad thing to be prepared, though I fear I may fall into the category of overpreparing to the point I worry myself” she laughed, she would be the type of person to make a whole checklist for her vacation and still manage to forget something important. When she felt his arm wrap around her she tensed a little, not because she was scared but because she was so used to avoiding contact in public that it felt strange not to, after a moment though she relaxed into his touch, leaning into his shoulder and her head tipping to the side to rest on his shoulder for a few moments before she sat back up.

She didn’t mean to make him worry but she could see the apprehension in his face as she started to speak which only made her usually bad way of stringing words together get worse, she was very good at saying things in long and unnecessarily complicated ways, especially when she was nervous like she was tonight. Truth was she wasn’t really sure where exactly things were going for them and while she was really enjoying their time together, she was also aware that they didn’t have all the time in the world, especially when threats were looming over the city and everyone could feel tensions rising, she didn’t want to feel like she wasted any time she had with him. “It’s definitely not conventional” she commented with a slight laugh “But we knew it wouldn’t be when we started this” she reached up a hand and pointed between the two of them a few times, she liked that he always made it easy to talk to him when she was nervous.

She nodded and then smirked a little at the mention of Cornelia “Cornelia’s a detective, I don’t think she’d even need to be close for her to know” she commented and shook her head, she swore the Nephilim ambassador knew details about everything, it was pretty scary at times, Sariah had been the one to fess up about the relationship though and Cornelia was happy for her. When he spoke the exact idea that had been on her mind she looked up to meet his eyes, gauging whether he was saying that because he sensed it was what she wanted or whether it was something he wanted for himself too “We are definitely going to get questions but…” she pursed her lips “It feels wrong to hide a big part of my life from the world” she didn’t like not being able to have the freedom to express her affections around him for fear the press may be around and she didn’t like having to pretend they were something they weren’t at ambassador meetings either. She realized what she said could be taken as quite the confession though and she blushed a little, reaching her hand up to hide behind a little as it pressed against her cheek “I don’t want you to feel pressure though, I know it’s not something to take lightly and once we make the decision there isn’t an undo” she was a little caught up in his gaze, she always was every time she met those deep blue eyes, even in the faint light from the night sky they caught her attention.

Maybe it was the simplicity of the night or the ease of enjoying the company but it was easy to leave both the stress of leadership and his everyday life behind as the cooler air gently blew against and the stars twinkled in the night sky. Never had be been able to see the stars so clearly in the night sky in this portion of the city, but he had to admit that it was beautiful as they seemed to paint the sky line. It was something unexpected and those were the sort of moments he enjoyed the most in life. Though it was helped by the fact that the person he was share this moment with was someone who had become an almost alarmingly large part of his life in the last two years. Yet he knew that he wouldn’t want it any other way, he enjoyed how they could both debate and agree on things without causing an argument and while respecting the opinion of the other.

With it being so long since he had time to truly enjoy the beautiful of the universe around him, he was glad he got to do so with Sariah and the stars were something which had always help his interest, more so now than ever before with the Celestials. He could still remember when Arwyn and Sera were kids and allowing them to stay up late for cosmic events but they had both been so sleepy that they usually fell asleep early on. Not that either could be blamed and Destiny hadn’t found as much interest in it as he had so once they kids passed out he was always alone in the silence which gave him far too much time to think.

At Sariah’s words his head turned and he gave her a small smile, “There were always glimpses and brief moments of being able to take it in. Though it was very low on the list of priorities I’m afraid.” Which was why he always tried to give his child as much time as possible to follow their passions instead of trying to push his own on them. He wanted them to enjoy the lives they had, especially now in these times of peace. “I seem to finding more and more reasons to slow down in life recently.” Time paced at the same speed regardless to how much focus you gave to one thing or another and if all you ever did was work you missed so many moments you could never get back. Moments like this one tonight or even just simple family dinners with his children. “Sometimes we do find that later in life the moments we were mad or embarrassed about become something we treasure for reason only we can understand.” And some memories no matter how bad you wished to forget them would always cling on.

Chess was one of the few things he did ask his children to learn regardless of their level or interest, it was just a family tradition really and neither seemed to necessarily mind. They were both competitive by nature so games of chess had always gotten interesting to say the least. “I beat Aries only once and it was the last game of chess we ever played.” They had both just seemed to know something was off that night, it was just a feeling a part of him still believed that his older brother had thrown the game. “We were always competitive with one another but we did love each other very much, it was just something we never really said in so simple of terms.” They had always shown love and affection in their own unique way that made some question if they did really care about each other of it they were just merely related. “I have the feeling you’d be a natural at the game of chess, I’m sure my ego could take losing to you.” He teased, “Of course I’ll teach you, the kids don’t like to play as much anymore so it’s been awhile since I’ve had anyone to play.”

The only things with Sariah that was strange or gave him pause was the fact that moments like this, in public and the ever watchful eyes of society were rare because of who they both were. Yes they were taking things at their own pause but he did have to admit that it was somewhat weighing on him but that was more because the last time he had been in a relationship had been as a teenager when you wanted others to know you were in relationship, instead of now where they were keeping more to the shadows. They both knew that neither was ashamed of the other there was just a lot going on in the city and always would be and they were both rather important figure heads to their factions. “So any time you’re carrying a big bag I should fear what all might be in it since you’ve prepared for the end of the world?” He asked with a small grin.

Orion was well aware he could easily jump to conclusions and come to the worse possible outcome within his thoughts and tonight that showed more that ever. Even though he tried to be more easy going and keep those thoughts at bay it wasn’t so easy. Deciding the easiest thing for his own sanity at the moment would be to just go with the flow of the conversation he did his best to silence his overactive mind which still continued to whisper as he gave her his full concentration. “Neither of us seem to be the conventional sort.” He agreed with a bit of nervous chuckle because he was sure this was far from the way things were meant to go in the case of most relationships but they weren’t most people. They both had their own anxieties and fears but neither made those a secret which made it a bit easier to handle and overcome. “We did and we both agreed to give it our all.” And they had both held their end of the bargain in that respect.

Another chuckle left him at Sariah’s words about her best friend, “She really wouldn’t, she’s very good at her job and keenly aware of the things happening around her. Which is what makes her so good at her job.” He said in a manner of agreement since they both knew it was true and she was the sort you wanted on your side. All of then tension seemed to leave his body at her words and a huff of breath left him that he hadn’t realized that he had been holding. This was an important step for them both and he glad they were on the same page about it. Sariah was one of the most important people in his life and he didn’t want her to a secret to everyone other than their close friends and family. “Questions are nothing knew in either of our lives, what’s a few more?” He asked in a light tone obviously relieved this was what had been on her mind. “I’m not looking for an undo Sariah, we reached a point that I was hoping would be inevitable and I don’t want to back. I don’t want to push us into the shadows. I think that would be a disservice to us both and I want to see where this can do from here. No longer avoid or hiding what we have.” She gave him strength in a way he didn’t know how to explain and he left like he needed that more than ever with the city in the weird state it was currently in. Moving his hand he gently caressed her cheek before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “You Sariah Holloway are the best thing that’s happened to me since I moved to this city and I want nothing more than to be able to be us in public and private not having to hide what we have. No regrets, no undos.” He said in a confident tone with a smile on his lips, genuinely happy.

As they sat there, eyes trained to the skies she was reminded of how lucky she was to have a lot of good people in her life, those people kept her grounded and at times, sane. It wasn’t a secret that work was probably the very center of Sariah’s life, they kinda came as a package deal because she couldn’t ever be someone who sat and did nothing but it was nights like these that gave her perspective about the life she was living and told her that sometimes it was okay just to stop and be happy for a little while. She glanced up at Orion for just a moment taking in the way his face looked in the moonlight and how relaxed he looked, she liked seeing him happy, it brought her happiness too.

She listened to the way he talked about the life he lived, the way he talked about it often sounded like it was a distant memory for him, she supposed a lot could happen in a few years but she knew those memories would always be with him, always make him protective and at times cautious, she had been doing her best to be accepting of that despite her self always screaming for self-independence. “I think everyone is guilty of pushing so hard they forget about the little things” she admitted with a half smile and nodded “Sometimes we need someone to remind us what’s really important” a meeting or a call could wait, but moments where you laughed so hard you cried or spent all evening talking about nothing, those were absolutely priceless.

She had never really played chess when she was younger because she tended to always be alone and it wasn’t the kind of thing you wanted to do alone, at least she didn’t, games seemed like something you were supposed to share and enjoy to her. Her parents were often too busy to provide that kind of companionship to her though and she didn’t have siblings. “I can tell how much he, well both of them, meant to you just from the way you talk about them” he always got this tone of utter adoration lacing his words when he spoke about his brothers, she knew he looked up to them very much. She laughed softly at his teasing “Hey you never know, I might be the worst strategist you ever played, though” she pursed her lips “God help the city if that’s true” she spoke with widened eyes as she looked up at him and then laughed softly.

The two of them were much more comfortable around one another now than they ever used to be, they got to know one another, she knew a few of his little quirks and generally really enjoyed being around him. Their dates were either centered around her apartment or his house because there weren’t many options when you were trying to keep your relationship a secret but she hoped to be able to broaden that after tonight, there were so many places she wanted to see with him. His teasing about her prep made her laugh and she ran a hand through her hair a little shyly and shrugged her shoulders “All I’m saying is that zombies would not stand a chance against me” she smirked softly, she had made some seriously powerful non lethal things after all, if she went into survival mode, god help the world.

As she talked through what she was trying to get across, she was watching him to try and figure out if what she was saying came too soon or made him feel uncomfortable but the way his expression eased told her they were probably on the same page with everything. She had been the one to ask to take things slow, she didn’t really have good experiences with relationships to draw from and she didn’t want to jump too fast and end up falling flat on her face. She also knew this was a big step for him too, considering this was his first relationship after losing the love of his life “Don’t they say that normal is boring” she teased trying to shake some of the nerves in his voice “And I think we have been, which pretty much makes us superheroes to make time between our crazy schedules” she laughed gently shaking her head.

Sariah and Cornelia had gotten close over the past few months and they spent a lot of time together, again, another miracle considering they were both ambassadors with equally crazy schedules “Well I’d hope so because with all the crazy going on the city I think we are going to need a little of her genius brain” but that was definitely a topic for another day and not something she wanted to dwell on right now, her workdays were full of that and nothing else already. The way he took in what she was trying to say with such ease made her breathe a sigh of relief “Damn I don’t know why I was so worried to mention it” she laughed a little embarrassed and blushed slightly “I really like that word” she admitted as she looked up at him, meeting his gaze and smiling “Us” she spoke as he reached forward to take hold of his hand, her thumb brushing over his skin as she did so.

She was a little surprised when he started to lean in, so much so that she moved back just a little before she realized and leaned forward again to meet his lips with her own, she smiled gently against them and squeezed his hand as she watched him pull back. Her breath hitched a little as she listened to his words and a bright grin appeared on her lips as she took in each word he said, she felt a little caught up in the moment as she went to speak “You’ve changed me in so many ways, for the better” she admitted her expression showing vulnerability “I lo-” she got out before wondering if it was way too soon to be saying that or even how he might react, her eyes widened a little scared by her own self and she blushed, hiding her face as she turned towards the sky “Hey it’s starting” she spoke as one of the first stars appeared to shoot across the sky, of course, it was a meteor, not a star but it looked beautiful all the same.

It was nice to once more have someone to enjoy the small and beautiful moments of life with, he knew that neither were gifted an abundance of time in order to do with what they will. Which was why nights such as this were so incredibly special. That and it was out in the open where anyone could see them which it seemed would no longer be a problem which was something he could definitely get behind. A fox might have a light and quiet step compared to other animals but he wasn’t the sort who liked hiding things from others. Though he did like the happy bubble they had been in, it wasn’t perfect but they both worked and fought hard to be where they were now, it was very much give and take and that’s what a relationship was. He was learning to step back and give her the independence she needed while she was allowed his over protectiveness at times but it was a rare sight these days thanks to the countless conversations they had on the subject.

The years had passed in a way where it seemed like it had been ten years since he had left Nevada instead of closer to three and a half. Never would he fully move on from the things he had seen or the memories that haunted him late at night. But it made it so he could enjoy his life once more instead of thinking he would never be happy again and be a bachelor until he died. Which he likely would have been had he not met the feisty and intelligent blonde in his arms. After all, there was no more memorable meeting than literally being blinded. “For those of us in certain positions it’s easy to forget we have a life outside of the office or meeting halls. But moments like this are so necessary for us to recharge and keep going.” Moments of importance that you would hold on to for the rest of your life and call upon when you were feeling low.

Sariah was one of the only people outside of his own family that he spoke of about his brother’s, they may have passed on but even to this day they were still a large part of who he was. Never would he forget their strengths or the lessons they taught, even with their sibling rivalries they all just wanted the best for one another. “They would have liked you, especially the fact that you have no issue challenging anyone and making your opinion known. That’s always been a rather big Valkyrie family trait.” He could only imagine how his brothers would have welcomed her into the family since as soon as she started seeing him they would have considered her as such no matter how annoying it might have been. “Family has always been everything to me and now that family includes an entire pack and really just anyone who needs a safe place.” His family had always given sanctuary to those who needed it regardless of species and he never people as species, just living and breathing people. “If you’re the worst strategist in the city I think that would surprise more than a few people including myself.” He responded with a chuckle knowing that she was far more intelligent than almost everyone he knew and she was a strategist and negotiator, he had seen it firsthand.

A chuckle left him at her words which didn’t surprise him, “I’m pretty sure even I don’t stand a chance again you depending on what you have in the bag, blinder.” He teased knowing that did in fact have physical strength along with nerves of steel under pressure. After she might panic but in the moment she would do what needed to be done and respect her for that. Fear was a normal reaction after all, it was all a matter of how you managed to get passed it. Which was just another reminder that even without their relationship, neither walked the normal path that most traveled. That of course was how they both seemed to prefer it, normal after all was just a six letter word that was understood but not followed. “Normal is something I can’t imagine being used in correlation with us. It’s better to stand out than to fade into the crowd is what I’ve heard.” They had both worked so hard for this so he saw no reason on why they shouldn’t be proud of what they had managed. “Is that what makes us superheroes?” He teased since they both knew they had many skills to add to that list but finding the time among work and ambassador duties had been a struggle at times and yet they persevered.

Knowing Sariah was right Orion nodded in agreement knowing if he addressed the statement verbally it would start a conversation that would put a dark cloud on their night. So it was best to leave work talk for another time even if it was worrisome. After all the world wasn’t going to end tonight…right? Hell, if it did at least he was right where he wanted to be. Why the two of them had been dancing around this conversation for so long was their own faults but they had at least been happy with what they had, they both just wanted more which wasn’t a bad thing. “Because our past experiences still make it hard in the present and make us second guess things as times. I don’t ever want you to be worried about talking to me about anything though.” He said with an encouraging smile, which grew as she spoke of liking the word ‘us’. “It does have a nice ring to it he said as she took his hand and he gave hers a gentle squeeze.

It didn’t bother Orion that Sariah’s first startled reaction was to lean back, she had more than enough reason to which was why he was no issue being slow and patient with her. Taking their time, as she leaned forward he smiled against her lips. They both knew that one day that wouldn’t be her first reaction and it was something they were working on, together, and he liked that word as well. “You made this city start to really feel like home and you’ve taken the bad with the good when others would have given up. I think we’ve both worked to bring the best of out one another.” He caught the first part of the words which left her lips before she cut them off. They made his heart feel like it was clinching, like it had anticipated hearing those words, maybe not now but had been waiting them and it had been waiting for that feeling again. He wasn’t necessarily a hopeless romantic but the way Sariah made him feel was different than anything he had experienced in life. Looking up as she changed the subject to the event they came here to see he looked up into the sky before leaning close to her, “I love spending time with you Sariah and you make me feel things that surprise and confuse me at times but I would never judge for those words if the feeling is true.” But if they weren’t and she spoke them too soon it might very well break him but he wouldn’t say so as his eyes drifted from the sky to her expression of wonder and excitement of what she was seeing. It was cute and an expression he would never soon forget.

Sariah’s life hadn’t exactly been a simple collection of happy moments, she had been through a lot of struggles and hardships, she felt like she was stronger for it now though, everything that tried to kick her down and make her give up she had somehow found a way to overcome and now she felt like she could face more than she probably could have even 2 years ago. She felt like Orion helped her to progress too, she wasn’t that girl that attributed a relationship to everything good in their lives but she found strength in someone who believed in her without question and someone who wanted to care for her, the person who sent her little texts during the day because he was thinking about her and generally just brightened her life in a way she hadn’t really ever known because every single example she’d had of a relationship so far had been soured in one way or another.

“You can say that again” she responded with an amused shake of her head, when she joined the organization, never had she thought for a second she would end up becoming the leader of it, especially not at the age of 27 and yet here she was, playing one of the most important roles there was in the Eternal City. It was a lot of pressure and she felt the constant need to try and live up to some imaginary standards she set out in her mind and in the process she supposed she did drive herself a little crazy “Sometimes it’s hard to remember I am still Sariah, goofy, generally clumsy, nerd and not just Sariah, stressed, slightly crazy, head of the organization” she laughed softly as she looked up at him “It’s nice to be reminded that my less super side is still important” and he definitely helped with that, from the way they were always trying to work around their crazy schedules to spend time together.

Orion didn’t talk about his brothers often and she got the reasons why, it must be difficult to constantly be reminded of all the people you had lost, especially when the list wasn’t exactly short. She felt for him, nobody should have to suffer through so much loss and frankly, most people it would probably have broken. But Orion, he had this inner strength inside him which she really admired, it was quiet most of the time but it was determined and unwavering, the kind of person who seemed to take the weight of the world and actually managed to shoulder it for a while. “I never had siblings but I feel like if I did I wouldn’t have taken any nonsense from them” she laughed, she had always been kinda independent, partly due to the fact her parents weren’t around all that much when she was younger. “Family” she repeated after him and pressed her lips together “The word itself inspires such warmth and happiness and yet I’m not sure I really understand it myself” she grimaced a little “It’s always just kinda been me, you know” but perhaps she was starting to understand what it meant now, especially after meeting Orion’s and becoming accustomed to being around people more.

She laughed scrunching up her nose playfully when he teased her for blinding him the night they met, it was quite possibly the most unique way she had ever met a person and it had led to something she never expected it to “Guilty” she responded and laughed softly, that night had definitely left an interesting first impression between the two of them but if 2 years ago you told her she would be sitting here, tucked up under his arm she probably would have laughed. “Normal is a fantasy when it comes to the supernatural, as soon as you know that secret you’re never going back” she laughed, she wouldn’t want it any different though, she felt like her horizons broadened by knowing what she knew and she had never been one to judge someone based on what species they were. It was why she always searched so intently for a level of equality though often it felt like an uphill battle. “Taking on all of the burdens of the city and fighting constantly to better it” she tilted her gaze up to meet his “If that doesn’t make us superheroes then they don’t exist” she spoke softly and smiled.

She knew problems were always going to be around the corner, that was the nature of who they were and the life they chose to lead, neither of them were ever going to be completely safe, there would always be someone that opposed the peace and balance of the city and that meant they would never truly get to switch off but both of them understood that and accepted it, now they just had to find those small moments in between where they could just let it go for a few hours.”I’m not so worried about talking to you rather than the reality of what it all means” she admitted with a slight nod, because this was her way of saying that the way she felt for him ran so deep that she was willing to put risk and belief on it, something she hadn’t done for a very long time. Feeling his squeeze against her hand she closed her eyes for a moment and just smiled “But now it feels about as easy as the breeze” she admitted with a nod of her head.

Everything felt new and yet familiar at the same time to her, which she found both a little scary but also exciting, perhaps that was why it felt so easy to say things to him that she might normally keep locked away inside her mind. Kissing him like this, where anyone could see them, it didn’t feel wrong, in fact she would say it felt all kinds of right as they eased into the movement but as quickly as it came the moment faded and she fluttered her eyes open to hear him speak “That’s what they say to look for right, the person who makes you the best part of yourself” she spoke it softly. Her half confession, it wasn’t exactly intended, just something her brain was saying on the inside that her mouth decided needed to be spoken and she cut it off quickly feeling nerves bubble up in her chest, so much so that she didn’t really get to take in his response to it or whether it seemed like he felt the same way. Her eyes remained on the sky furiously trying to push down the blushing on her cheeks as she watched the meteors rain across the sky. She pressed her lips together when she felt him lean in close and she glanced at him to catch his gaze while he talked, she swallowed and nodded a little “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever really felt it before” she admitted with a vulnerable look in her eyes “I’ve never felt like this before about anyone” she reached up to rest her hand against his cheek “If this is love then I really really enjoy feeling it” she hoped he’d understand that her first idea of love was probably an infatuation and she hadn’t allowed anyone in since then.
