She was moping. She knew she was moping and yet she couldn’t stop herself from doing so. The wayfinder had stayed curled up in a ball by the window for most of the day, only leaving when she needed food and then returning to the same spot. It seemed ironic that the weather was raining, the drops decorating the window just adding to the depressive mood she found herself stuck in. She kept telling herself this was for the best but her heart was angry with her right now and it was making sure she felt every single bit of the pain.
The worst part was that she couldn’t even confide in anyone around and so she even though she lived in a castle full of people, she felt more alone than she could put into words. Ophelia sighed softly as she pressed her hand against the glass pain, her breath fogging up the pane as it was still cold outside. At this point in time, she actually didn’t know how to make the world spin again, she had brought this on herself, she knew exactly how it was going to end and yet she had thrown herself into it anyway. Reckless. She was reckless as hell.
And then there was the politics going on in Evermore to worry about, with the newfound alliance renewal with the valkyr and celestials starting to come under attack in Evermore, she was under more and more pressure politically. Heavy is head that wears the crown she supposed. Phe had been doing her best to shield her people from the dangers out there but there was only so long she could do that before it caught up to them all. Something was very wrong and her people would be the first ones to suffer the consequences if she didn’t figure it out soon enough.
Her depressive thought train was interrupted when she heard a light tap at the door and then it pushed open. Ophelia reached up quickly to dab at her eyes as if that could hide the tears she had been shedding before she turned to face the person who entered. She had a look of relief on her face as she recognized the other dark-haired celestial though, one of the only who had lived more years on earth than she had “Hey” she spoke softly doing her best not to show the weakness in her voice, that was the thing about Phe, she always put others before herself and if that meant pretending she was okay when she wouldn’t then that is what she would do.

As the sound of their laughter filled the room; Artemis smiled. “Now, technical errors aren’t my strongest suit either. I would suggest, finding someone to fix it, if that had been the issue.” Despite her bigger knowledge of Technology, over Ophelia’s. There were still quite a few things, that Artemis didn’t know. Especially when it came to fixing what was broken. If it was something simple, she knew a few tricks that few friends had taught her; but that was about it. Learning that the music player, had been in Otto’s room. It seemed to make sense. “Ah, well at least we know where to return to it.”
Glancing at the ground one more time, Artemis looked over all of the things that Ophelia had found in there. She picked up one of the face masks, examining it. Glancing at the faded out instructions. “Cleanse face before use, and spread mask evenly avoiding eyes...leave on for 15-25 minutes, before rinsing off.” She managed to make out. “Mhh, well guess we can always test these out bit later.” she said waving one of them. Before plopping it back onto the pile. Hearing about the state of the storage room, made Artemis amused at the thought. Trying to imagine it, inside of her head.. “Well, that’s going to be an interesting organisation project.” she said with a soft giggle. “I guess we’ll find out, if we ever get around to listening to that one.”
It was good to know, that at least the cookies called to people. After all; it was for everyone to snack on. As Ophelia scolded her for leaving them in the oven. Artemis gave an innocent, apologetic smile “I am pretty sure, it was on a timer.” When it came to Ophelia’s own cookie mishap. Artemitra tried to think of, what might have went wrong. “Mhh, you sure you mixed all of the ingredients right? Or haven’t missed something out?” Those two, seemed to be the obvious things that came into mind. Unless she had left them in the oven for far too long; which would have over-baked them.
With the beat, starting to get the girls in the groove. Artemis took a mental note that this CD belonged to Willow. “Mhh, well it’s not half bad for party tunes.” she said smiling. The only issue was, trying to figure out who the Cd’s belonged to, once they were done with them. Laughing, as Ophelia went for the wine first thing. “I’ll join you, with that one. Wine is a good place to start.” Glancing at the food, that Artemis had brought. She grabbed the first set of Pizza’s and some spring rolls to heat up; before the duo started to make their way into the kitchen.
“Mhh, I thought as much.” Artemis nodded with a giggle. When they got to the kitchen. Artemis laughed softly. Placing her small load onto the counter. “Well, we got other bags of popcorn...but let’s not waste one by burning it, shall we?” She joked. Glancing at the package instructions. Artemitra turned on the microwave...before setting the bag in there, after she pulled it apart slightly. Setting it down there...before putting it on the timer. After the microwave was going. Artemis began to preheat the oven for the Pizza’s and spring rolls. Which were sitting on the kitchen counter. The sound of popping and cracking, filled the Kitchen as the popcorn began to heat up. The delicious buttery smell, coming along with it. “Mhh, I do love the smell of Popcorn.” There was just something warm and good about that smell, that was coming from the microwave.
Looking through one of the cupboards. The Celestial found a big bowl; perfect for popcorn and also pulled out a few trays to use for the Pizza's and Spring Rolls.
Ophelia laughed at how hopeless they seemed to be with tech “You’d think as the one person who got to actually see the full development of computers happening I’d have managed to keep up with it all” she rolled her eyes at herself, far too busy with other things, unfortunately, though she was seriously feeling her lapse in knowledge now that they lived in such a technology revolved society. Ophelia didn’t have trouble with learning to use the devices though, she just didn’t often have the time to learn, though she did use a phone on a daily basis now and she did see the convenience “Should have known really, considering how much music he is always playing” she smiled, it was nice to see someone appreciate it, being able to have music at the touch of a button was wonderful.
When Artemis started reading one of the face masks, Ophelia laughed softly “I’m not sure how effective they would be, I just thought they might look pretty funny” she mused with a shrug of her shoulders, besides it seemed like a waste to leave them in the storage where they would eventually pass their use by date “Though we might get some funny looks if we wander the castle wearing them” though after a few drinks Ophelia wasn’t sure she’d care all that much either. “A project sounds like a good thing right now” the Wayfinder admitted, sometimes she felt like she lacked specific purpose, she was a leader and she helped to earn them enough money to live comfortably but she didn’t feel specifically motivated by her own goals.
Ophelia narrowed her eyes a little at the slightly guilty way the other woman responded but she couldn’t be too mad when she gave an apologetic look like that “Let’s not burn the castle down, it took me forever to manage to secure us somewhere safe to live” they could thank Emilia for that one, the Wayfinder before Ophelia always seemed to be looking ahead, even as far as beyond her own death, Phe hoped to be able to live up to her name one day. “I honestly have no idea, I think I followed the instructions but maybe I missed something by accident?” she gave a half shrug, she’d have to try again another time she supposed.
“Willow seems to have pretty good taste…” she trailed off and shrugged “Well in everything” she commented with a laugh, the younger celestial always seemed in touch with herself and her personal style, she had good music, restaurant, and fashion taste. Ophelia figured it probably came from her being younger and more in touch with current trends rather than missing the old days like the Wayfinder tended to. “Wine is always a good place to start” the raven-haired woman responded with a wiggle of her brows, she definitely was impartial to a few drinks, it was an immortal thing, needing something to help you relax every now and then.
The Wayfinder laughed, it was kind of running joke in the castle that the Wayfinder was terrible at cooking, for someone who tended to act as a mentor and often even a mother to the whole group it was pretty ironic. Nowadays she left the cooking to quite literally anyone else because they seemed to have more success with making something edible. Ophelia circled around as she poured out the wine and took a long sip of hers and then pushed the other cup towards the other brunette. By the time the popcorn was almost done it had both of their attention, just staring as she heard it popping loudly “There’s something strangely satisfying about this” she commented with a chuckle.
Once the popcorn was done she opened the microwave and retrieved the bag ripping it open and then pouring the contents into the bowl that Artemis had left out “Wow there’s way more than I expected there to be” she commented with widened eyes before she moved to help arrange the food that A was putting onto the trays “My virtual workout instructor is not going to be pleased with this meal” she teased with a laugh, she had been pretty good with her diet lately but junk food was too much of a temptation tonight.
When it came to Technology, Ophelia indeed have a good thought. The Two Celestials were old enough, to have probably have had more knowledge, when it came to dealing with it. Yet, still. They seemed as hopeless as anything when it came to technical issues-especially major one’s. It was laughable really. But at the same time, they have always occupied themselves with everything else, other than technology.
The banter between the two, seemed to continue; as they talked about the many things. It felt good, to see Ophelia in better spirits. It had been a while, since the pair had a bonding moment like that. “Mhh, well it’d be interesting to see how everyone would react, with us walking around the castle wearing them.” Artemitra giggled; at the thought. She didn’t think, it’d freak them out? But it could be Possible? It seemed, like the girls agreed about the storage project. “Well, let’s tackle it in the next few days. Who knows, what else we might find hidden among the mess.” Artemis, wasn’t even sure how the storage looked like. But from what Ophelia told her; it was in good need of sorting out. Especially, if anyone was to find something, or put more things in there.
The Celestial did feel slight guilt. It hadn’t been her intention to leave the oven on for so long. “I wouldn’t want to do that.” she assured. “It, just accidentally slipped my mind.” Artemis usually kept a better eye on things. But with her concern for Ophelia, and rushing out to go to the shops. The little detail of treats baking in the oven, left her mind. Whatever, it was that Ophelia had missed out, with her own experiment of baking cookies. They’d figure it out. If, she followed the instructions; it probably was one little thing that she may have possibly overlooked.
With their conversation of Willow, and her good taste. Artemis smiled softly. “Aww come on, you have good taste too.” she reassured her. Just because, they were older and didn’t always keep in touch; with all of the current threads didn’t mean that they didn’t have good taste. Personally, Artemis had always liked Ophelia’s style in fashion. Maybe, being elder herself, the two had things in common like that. Artemis couldn’t even argue about the ‘Wine’ comment, giggling with a nod. “Mhh, indeed it is.” There was nothing wrong, with enjoying a few drinks every now and again. It wasn’t like, they were drinking every day; till they passed out drunk.
When Ophelia poured her a cup, Artemis smiled. Thanking her. After taking the cup, she smelled it, briefly. She always liked, taking in the smell first. Holding the cup., she took a few sips herself. The wine tasted rich, tasting even better than it smelled. The two almost seemed engrossed in the sound of the popcorn crackling away in the microwave. Ophelia’s expression, made her giggle slightly. It was almost, like the Wayfinder never heard or seen something like this before. Her comment made her giggle softly. “Oh yes, it always does multiply rather quickly.” The buttery rich smell, had filled the kitchen. Once the contents were in the big bowl. It made her stomach bubble slightly; making her mouth water. Artemis was a lover of popcorn. It was always, too good to deny.
As they finished laying out the frozen food onto the trays. Artemis popped the oven open. Before sliding in the trays. Before, closing up the oven again. “You’re still, following that virtual instructor?” she rose an eyebrow, with a slight giggle. Artemis preferred to eat, whatever she fancied. But she did of course, still keep a healthy diet nonetheless. But unlike Ophelia, she didn’t follow a certain diet plan or fitness plan like a few Celestial’s did. The Brunette sipped on more of her wine. Her hand reaching into the popcorn bowl. Scooping up a small handful, to nibble on. Especially since the wait for the spring rolls and pizza’s would be long.
“To be honest I’m not sure anything would surprise them anymore” she laughed softly, living with so many different people had led to some really interesting situations in the castle-like one time that a younger celestial got drunk and completely trashed the kitchen or stupid games they had ended up playing in the yard. Really it was just nice to have the freedom to try new things and live a life relatively normally, considering a lot of people never really got to live theirs at all. “Maybe if we dig far enough we might find some more things to put up to contribute to the tours” Ophelia commented with a slight nod, that was how she was making income right now, by giving tours of the right wing of the castle which had once been home to some very high profile figures.
Ophelia sighed a little but the amused smile stayed planted on her lips, sometimes it did feel like she was the nagging mother and the others were all the unruly kids but she didn’t really mind that much, if she had been locked away from the world for 100 years she’d probably be just as rebellious as they all were “Well luckily there are plenty of people in the castle” she commented with a nod “Though I’m surprised whoever it was didn’t steal all your cookies for themselves considering how good they are” the Wayfinder laughed, she would have if she didn’t know better.
Ophelia rolled her hers playfully and shrugged “I think my taste is a little old-fashioned for this particular era” she mused with a shrug, it didn’t stop her from wearing what she wanted to wear, she was far past the point in her life where she let anyone tell her what she could and couldn’t do but that didn’t make her a trendsetter of any sorts. “But then I can’t bear to throw out any of my clothes either so I only have myself to blame really” the Wayfinder laughed, she did wear modern clothes more often now though and she had to admit they were much more convenient and comfy, though she still braided her hair near every day and wore headpieces.
The Wayfinder had always been a fan of wine, she knew it was an acquired taste, especially red, but she found it paired with food really and generally tasted much better than a lot of alcohol, she had tried spirits before but they all seemed to go straight to her head and she wasn’t a fan of most of their sharp or bitter undertones. “You know I think we need a wine cellar” she suggested with a laugh, they went through enough of it to warrant having one and there actually probably was an abandoned one somewhere in the castle. You’d think after living here for 2 years she’d know it like the back of her hand by now but honestly, she rarely ventured far out into the wings unless she was giving a tour or looking for someone.
The popcorn, she had to admit, smelled absolutely amazing and while she was pouring it into the bowl she found her mouth watering a little, still she refrained from scoffing it down and instead moved around to help Artemis out, Ophelia was often too polite for her own good, she blamed the first place she had fallen, England, for that particular trait. “I’m not sure if it’s so much of following, more like I let her make me feel like a bad person for forgetting to do my workout most days” the raven-haired female laughed and shook her head.
The grabbed some of the popcorn and popped it into her mouth chewing before her eyes lit up “Okay that stuff is not going to last long” she stated as she grabbed the bowl casting her eye on the timer to know when they needed to come back and then grabbing her wine in the plastic tumbler “I don’t really want to share any of this so I vote to hide in my room until the rest is done” she admitted as she gave a slightly shifty glance from side to side, she wasn’t normally selfish but when it came to food she couldn’t help herself.
The Celestial was amused by the comment. But thinking about it, Ophelia was most likely right. “Mhh, yeah. I think you might be right Phe. I am sure, they’ve seen plenty of strange things.” At times, they were quiet the lively bunch. Enjoying what little things, and fun that they could. Artemitra still remembered, when one of the guys had tried to get everyone watching horror movies; for a movie marathon night. Few of the Celestial's seemed convinced creepy things, would start happening around the castle if they watched more than 2. What a strange theory, that one turned out to be. And not true.
As Ophelia suggested using some findings from storage for the tour of the castle. Artemis’ eyes almost lit up. “You know, if I would have thought of that first...it’d be saying; you stole the idea from my own head.” she laughed, but nodded in agreement. “I think, that’s a good idea though. There’s got to be something, interesting in there somewhere.” It might be old, tatty or dusty. But they could clean it up first, before they’d use it for the tour. “When is your next one coming up?” Artemitra asked. It would be best, if they could get it done before the next one was due; so it could all be ready.
When it came to food, in the castle; especially sweet things. It didn’t last long most of the time. “I am actually surprised too. Although, this time...I did warn everyone to share...because the last few times...someone ended up eating almost everything, and the others didn’t get one.” So maybe her warning, did work this time round.
Artemitra giggled, at the thought of Ophelia hoarding her old clothes. “Well, I didn’t want to say that you have too many clothes.” But...she couldn’t help but agree with Ophelia. Some of the more old fashioned clothes, that they had were favourites and hard to part with. Although, Artemitra did always try and sort out through her clothes, best as she could, if she felt like she had too much. Lately, in keeping with more modern style and wear like the younger Celestials. Although, on occasion she did wear something ‘old’ around the castle.
The smell of the Pizza’s and rolls cooking in the oven, also slowly began to fill the room. Especially the scent of bubbling, melting cheese. The brunette glanced towards her friend, whilst munching on some more popcorn. The pieces almost melting in her mouth, it was that good. A wine cellar indeed, did sound like a good idea. “You sure, we don’t already have a wine cellar somewhere Phe?” Artemitra asked her, with a slight raised eyebrow. “I mean, who knows what we haven’t discovered yet. Maybe we should also go on a search one day, to see if we can find it.”
When she proceed to grab the entire bowl for herself; Artemitra let out a fake gasp of shock. “Ophelia Dreyvalian... you greedy, Celestial.” she mused, shaking her head in amusement. Laughing warmly. Taking another few sips of her wine. “If I would have known, you’d end up liking Popcorn this much, I would have brought even more.” They still had a few packets left. But there were only 4 in the bunch she had brought. Next time, she would buy the bigger batch of 8. Artemis reminded herself of the fact, that Ophelia had taken a liking to Popcorn. Grabbing the bottle of wine, to pour them in some bit more into their cups. Before she set the bottle down again on the counter. “I have nothing against waiting, till this is done.” They had about 20 or so minutes to spare. Artemis would gladly wait,to make sure it wouldn’t burn or be over done. “Go, enjoy your popcorn.” The brunette reached over with her free hand, stealing a big handful for herself; before Ophelia could take it away for herself. Giving her a cheeky smirk.
The Wayfinder gave an amused laugh and shrugged, she supposed that was what it meant to live with others, they were a little family she guessed, pretty disconnected and dysfunctional but everyone was there for one another and Ophelia hoped they could all at least feel at ease around one another “Part of making home I guess” she commented with a slight shrugged, at least she hoped that’s what they were doing here. Sometimes it still felt really strange for her to think about staying in one place because she had spent so much of her life running but she definitely preferred this life.
Ophelia laughed softly, watching the way that Artemis’ eyes lit up at the idea, she knew how much the other woman liked to have projects she could work on, honestly Phe was surprised she hadn’t taken the reigns when it came to the tour project considering she was a pretty good organizer “Hey we have to make a living somehow, might as well make the most of what we were given” though as a faction they all contributed to the home in their own way. When she asked when the next tour was the raven-haired female considered it for a moment “Next Friday I believe, a private one too” she whistled a little as those normally paid well.
It was strange, living with so many other people though, you had to get used to so many people’s habits and tendencies and it could be frustrating at times, especially because not everyone in the castle was close with one another and that meant there were often arguments or annoyances “Good, because the last thing we need is another argument over the last food in the kitchen” she rolled her eyes a little dramatically.
Ophelia laughed when Artemis mentioned her having too many clothes, okay, it was becoming a problem, she had an entire closet filled with clothes she had collected over the years along with all the new ones she had bought in the name of having a modern wardrobe too, she stuck out like a sore thumb in public wearing her usual clothes after all “Sounds like I need to force myself to give a few up” she admitted and pulled a pout “Do you know if you can donate clothes? Is that a thing?” she questioned with raised brows, perhaps someone else would get better use of them.
The smell of food was far too tempting, it made the Wayfinder realize that she really hadn’t been eating properly, she had just been lost in her own thoughts so much lately that she forgot to get around to it and when she did she was so hungry that she usually just made whatever came quickly or easily “I mean it’s fairly possible, I still haven’t managed to get down into the basement, damn door is jammed as hell” she shook her head a little, she’d even asked William to have a go at forcing it open to no avail, like it was boarded shut on the inside.
Ophelia looked like a little kid who’d been caught out doing something they were supposed to when Artemis used her full name and her eyes averted from side to side as she looked down at the bowl and then back to the brunette “I haven’t eaten in like 18 hours okay” she protested as she took another handful of the popcorn and chewed on it, her words were muffled as she spoke between eating “And it tastes really good” she sounded a bit like she was pouting. “I’m simple, if it’s addictive then I’ll probably like it” she admitted and shuddered thinking about how much caffeine she drank on a daily basis. Approving the wine topup she smirked gratefully before saluting “I’m gonna see if I can get the nail lamp thing I found working” she laughed softly letting A take some of the popcorn before scurrying off down the hall to hide the food away again.
Yes, whilst Artemitra was quite the organiser when she wanted to be. Her passion was a bit more creative, than giving people tours and making things look good around the castle for it. But that didn’t stop her from helping Ophelia, doing tasks around their home; before tours took place. “And we’re all doing our part to help.” she reassured her. As far as she knew, every one of them had a job of sorts. Everyone was following a passion, trying to make a living for themselves one way or another; as well as contribute towards their home. For Artemis, that chosen passion and job had been photographer. The Celestial always found herself projects, and private ‘jobs’ in that category.
“Mhh, okay that means we have at least a week and a bit to organise the store room and see what interesting things we might find for the tour.” Artemis concluded, when she learned the tour was next Friday. The Brunette was rather intrigued, what might be buried deep beneath all the hidden away things in the storage room. A private tour, did indeed sound important and better than the regular one's. Hopefully, they'd be able to find something good. Something that'd be able to impress.
Living with so many people, did indeed come as a challenge even to Artemitra. Even though, she was a people’s person. At times, they all got on each other’s nerves. With so many different personalities living under one roof, it was bound to happen. Few clashes here and there, sure kept the place lively. “Mhh, maybe we should set up some ground rules in regards to the kitchen and food.” At least, that way no one would complain if things were equal. Or one could hope at least.
Sipping on her wine, Artemis almost choked in disbelief when Ophelia asked about donating clothes. Oh gosh, her closest friend was really uneducated sometimes. Her palm flew towards her forehead. Shaking her head, in amusement. Laughing slightly. “Oh my god, Phe. I think you might need a few lessons on the 21st century.” she teased the Raven head. Artemitra tried not to laugh, but she couldn’t help it. For some reason, the moment was quiet funny. “Yes, I am very much certain donating clothes is a thing. I mean...there’s a thing called Charity Shops. People bring stuff in there all the time, clothes, books, music that they don’t need.” Artemis explained. It seemed like the place to go; should Ophelia ever find a way to part with some of her clothes. At least, it would be for a good cause.
Whilst munching on the popcorn she sneaked away from Ophelia. She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Mhh, that’s odd.” Artemis frowned. If it indeed was bolted from the inside out; the Celestial hoped there might be another way to get into the cellar. “Who knows, how long it’s been since it has last been used.” Artemitra muttered in thought. Maybe more to herself, than to Ophelia. The thought hanging in the air for more pondering.
The brown haired woman looked even more amused; at Ophelia’s expression. Shaking her head, but she smiled. “Mhh yeah, I know how much you looooooooooooooooove your caffeine...why do you think everyone always buys extra coffee, tea and whatever else to keep the castle stocked up?” she pointed out. If there was anyone, whom drunk a lot of caffeine. It was Ophelia. Artemita didn’t half as much, as Ophelia did. Not unless she was tired and needed a good energy boost. It would be interesting to see if she could get the nail lamp working. If Ophelia figured out how to use the Cd Player, no doubt-she could hopefully figure that out too. Watching her hurry down the hall, Artemitra playfully called after her. “Try not to eat the bowl though!” Artemis giggled to herself. Wondering how much, popcorn Ophelia would manage to scoff down in the next 20 minutes. The Celestial stayed around the kitchen, pottering about. Swaying to the music, that was playing from down the hall in Ophelia’s room.
~ 20 minutes later ~
Diiiiiiiiiing!
The timer finally went off, in a very loud annoying sound. Reaching for the small clock. Artemis turned it off. Before grabbing oven gloves and opened up the oven...pulling out the trays and setting them on the cooker; not to burn the wooden worktops. Turning off the oven. She left the door slightly open, to help it cool off bit faster.
Looking through the drawers in the kitchen. Artemitra found a curved slicer for Pizzas. Once the contents cooled off a bit slightly. She began to cut them into even pieces. Once the Pizzas were cut up. Artemitra took out a big tray from one of the cupboards. Putting a few of the plastic plates she brought in town; loading them with the pizza slices and other nibbles that had been cooked in the oven; including the spring rolls. Setting her plastic tumbler and the rest of the wine on the tray too.
The Celestial quickly tidying up after herself in the kitchen; putting what was dirty in the empty dishwasher. Before picking up the tray and making her way back towards Ophelia’s room. “Phe...our food is ready!” she called in a sing-song voice, trying to match the pitch and tone of the current song that was playing. Just, for a good laugh anyways.
Okay guilty, Ophelia was a big of a stresser, it came from having so many people to look out for she supposed, this was their home now and the last thing she wanted was to have money troubles to worry about on top of everything else going on around them. Artemis was right though, everyone was very good at contributing to the household and thanks to the fact they lived in a big city there wasn’t a shortage of jobs. Ophelia had been considering taking some study up herself so that she could take on a more permanent job, blacksmithing wasn’t all that in demand any more after all “Indeed, we have quite the collection of talents now” she commented with a soft laugh.
“I’ve never seen the appeal of touring castles if I’m honest but the older humans seem to love it, though they keep trying touch all the displays” Ophelia was normally pretty patient, so running the tours was mostly stress free for her, she’d show them around and explain different things about the people who lived here long before she called it home. It didn’t pay insanely but it was making money off the gift that Emilia had given them which she was eternally grateful to her predecessor for.
“Rule number one, don’t eat other people’s food” she commented with a chuckle “Rule number two, don’t leave the oven on without a timer unless you’re gonna watch it” she shot Artemis a playful look and wiggled her brows on that second one “Number three, clean up your plates when you’re done” she nodded a little “Not a bad idea really” she commented with a sharp nod of her head, especially because she was getting fed up of cleaning up the kitchen on her own.
Ophelia widened her eyes when she heard Artemis almost choke on her wine and naturally went towards her to check if she was okay when she suddenly realized the other celestial was actually laughing at her. Hearing the words Ophelia pouted a little but she couldn’t really argue with her point, she’d spent so much time running and moving that she really hadn’t managed to keep up with the times “Yes, I know, I am terrible” she joked with a chuckle. She was glad to hear that people were able to donate their clothes though because it seemed like a waste to throw decent looking items away “Sounds like I need to sort out my closet right away then” she commented as she pictured a few things she could part with in her mind.
On the topic of the cellar the Wayfinder shrugged a little “I try not to think about it too much, kinda creeps me out and I want to be able to sleep at night” she admitted with a slight shudder, though she wasn’t really sleeping properly anyway so it didn’t really make much difference but the last thing she really wanted to talk about right now was her reasons for not sleeping so she didn’t mention it.
Artemis was right, Ophelia definitely had a caffeine addiction and was pretty sure that coffee was the best thing to happen to the world at this point, it definitely helped her get her head together when the usual methods failed her “There’s definitely worse things I could be addicted to than coffee” he protested as she headed down the hall and into her room, she left the door open so that the music was still able to be heard down the hall.
She spent about 20 minutes figuring out how to use the nail lamp, eventually, she figured out that the button turned it on and the switch on the side changed the modes, though she was yet to figure out what the modes actually did. Perhaps different strengths? Either way she’d give up and was flipping through the different CDs they’d collection when Artemis returned to the room and the Wayfinder’s eyes lit up at the sight of food. Thankfully she’d distracted herself well enough that she hadn’t eaten most of the popcorn because the bitesize food looked even better.
“Artemis Bluemoon, bringer of food and general saver of the universe” she commented as she moved over and grabbed one of the pizzas and started eating it, licking her lips as she swallowed it down “You know I think you’re right, a dose of normality was exactly what I needed” she commented as she took another swig of the wine she’d brought back with her “How’s your adventures outside of the castle?” Ophelia questioned as she continued to eat, she’d definitely noticed that A was out a lot more than usual lately, which she thought was a good thing really.
It always seemed, like the duo were about to talk about anything and everything. And have a good laugh, about the silly things. It was one of the reasons, why they had gotten on so well. But even if there were hardships in life-the pair had stuck through it; helping each other through the tough times. As good friends do. Even if Artemis hadn’t said it lately, she was thankful for Ophelia being in her life, that sisterly bond and all that Ophelia had done to try and keep their people safe. Knowing, it probably wasn’t easy.
The brunette laughed, hearing Ophelia’s comment. Closing the bedroom door with her foot. “Well, I am glad...I could save the day somehow.”she said with a bright smile. Quiet surprised, to see the Popcorn bowl was still about half full. Artemis was almost sure; there’d be nothing left. “Have you figured out the lamp?” She asked, gesturing to the piece of technology that was sitting in front of the Wayfinder.
Sitting down herself. Artemis had played the tray of food down near them. Before she had grabbed one of the spring rolls. “I am glad you agree.” It had been a while, since the two had sat down like this and just talked. It’s not that they didn’t talk in general. But lately, the pair had just been busy. With Ophelia being the Ambassador, Artemis noticed she was always off doing something; whether it was meetings or other duties. So it was nice,to just be themselves for a little bit.
Taking a sip of her wine, as she finished munching on her spring roll. She heard her question. It was no secret; that Artemis had been locked up for quiet a long while; before she began to brave the outside world and Evermore in general after their escape from the Isle. But she still felt cautious, even if she was out and about a lot more. “I think, I am starting to feel more at home...I mean...in the city as a whole. But a part of me still feels bit weary, with you know who being around.” Artemis said honestly. She often wondered, if the Ailwards were planning something. Or would, they just let them be?
“I’ve met quite a lot of people lately...I am starting to lose count.” Artemis said with a soft laugh. She was always quiet outgoing and in general-a very friendly person. And in the past-had attracted quite amount of trouble...a danger magnet of sorts. Especially with her tendency to get into sticky situations to help people. But the fact, that she was out there making some friends, and people she already considered very close-was a good thing. “I also run into an old friend, the other day. Do you remember, me telling you about Andrew Dietrich? The trouble-maker from Romania?” Artemis asked. She had always referred to Mawl, as the troublemaker. He probably had a bigger tendency to get into sticky situations, more than her.
The Celestial was sure, she had told Ophelia about her travels in Romania; more than once really. It was quiet, the adventurous time of her life. But it was also nice; she had loved Romania back then. And not to mention, Andrew was one of her eldest friends.Besides Ophelia...she had known him the longest. Despite the fact that Andrew was a Niveis-the two had quite an interesting friendship. “I honestly, didn’t picture him as the type to end up in Evermore. He always had a thing for sticking around Europe. But it’s good to see a familiar face.” But, it did made her feel bad; that she had lost touch. It wasn’t by choice, but with the whole capture at the Isle of Skye, it was hard to keep in touch with him back then-when she had no idea where he even ended up after a certain point. “I also run into Hanseol, not long ago. Seems like he’s doing well for himself.” Artemis said with a soft smile.
“Being out and about, has also given me more opportunities for private work.” Artemis spoke, whilst she was nibbling on food in between. Telling Ophelia a bit more, about both her project for a close friend-whom was more like a brother to her. To bring some more business for his bar. But that was more of a creative project as a surprise, not paid work. As well as the work she was doing for the airline company Hagnar 6. To promote their new airline and company. Her keeping herself busy, was indeed quite helpful. It made her feel normal...at least for a little bit.
Taking few more sips of her wine. Artemis looked at Ophelia. “What about you? How has the Ambassador meetings been going?” she asked curious. “I hope, they’re all treating you well.” Not that Artemis enquired about them often. But maybe, it was her silent way of asking, if Ophelia had run into/and or spoken to any of the Ailwards. Especially the Aspect of Death. There were no secrets between the two of them really. Artemis knew how strongly she had felt for Ven. And no doubt, her Wayfinder knew how Artemitra had felt about his brother Erythreus back then. Which is why, everything hurt a lot more and left her bitter when everyone turned against them. “See anyone familiar, around the city lately?” Even if she didn’t physically bring herself to ask, how the aspect was doing. Her question silently hinting around it. Artemis didn’t even half realise she was doing it-but part of her still wondered how he was. She couldn’t bring herself, to not care...no matter how upset and hurt she was. Her own conflicting emotions sometimes made her a mess. Maybe a part of her wanted to know, that they were safe...and that they wouldn’t get hurt like that again.
Ophelia shrugged, really Artemis had done more than enough simply by being able to notice something was wrong and asking about it. The Wayfinder felt bad for not being able to tell any of her people about the personal things in her life but she did a lot of burying for the sake of their own good, especially when it came to who she met with the Ailward faction because she knew there were members of the colony who wanted them dead “I have” she answered with a nod of her head “So now all we need is colors” she rubbed her hands together as they talked.
But Ophelia was sure that if anyone would ever manage to pry anything out of her it would be Artemis, the other female always just seemed to have a way around her that made you want to talk, even when the raven-haired Wayfinder just wanted to bury herself under the covers the brunette had managed to drag her out and eat a meal and that was pretty impressive in itself. Still, Ophelia didn’t know how to tell any of her people it was a guard she had allowed herself to fall for because she felt like it was repeating history all over again.
As she continued to eat she crossed her legs over one another and watched the other woman as they talked, Ophelia was always interested to hear about the lives the other stars got to lead, though she wasn’t the type to make them talk about anything they didn’t want to, she tried to be there for them and to protect them “I think being wary is natural considering what we are, whether they’re here in the city or not” especially because Hanseol had been attacked the other week and they still hadn’t managed to capture those responsible for it beyond the muscle.
The raven-haired female was happy that Artemis had managed to go out and find friends though, most of the Wayfinder’s friends were here in the castle, she was especially close with Niram, Otto and William who all thought a lot like she did. Phe didn’t have many female friends, though she and Artemis had always been close to one another. When A mentioned the name Andrew Dietrich she furrowed her brow trying to recall the name but she couldn’t say she remembered it but troublemaker from Romania did.
“It seems like everyone always seemed to end up here” she commented with a thoughtful look on her face. Even before she came to this city she knew about it, everyone knew about Evermore, it was like the supernatural capital of the world and it drew you in like it was a shining beacon of hope. That’s what it had been for Ophelia anyway, an opportunity to find somewhere that may just be the saving grace of their faction and while some people disagreed with her bold efforts to face up to the Ailward faction, no one could really deny the fact they had lived here for two years now in what Ophelia would consider peace. “He is” Ophelia repeated at the mention of Hanseol, she was really proud of the younger celestial for finally beginning to embrace his energy control and he was surprisingly good at it.
Ophelia just really liked to hear about the normal life that Artemis seemingly got to lead for herself, the Wayfinder only ever wanted that for all of them, for them to feel like they had the freedom to be who they were and live their lives, it was what she tried to get them on Skye. “The meetings are…” she paused and shrugged “A little troublesome, not because the other ambassadors don’t want to play ball, our alliance with Gideon and the valkyr makes sure they have to listen but” she pressed her lips together “It still feels like we’re strangers to them” she nodded a little it was a work in progress.
Though when Artemis mentioned ‘familiar around the city’ the Wayfinder knew what she was asking about, specifically a who, or perhaps many whos. Ophelia had certainly had the most exposure to the Ailward faction since coming to Evermore and she was still conflicted on how much of it to share “In the past few months I have spoken individually with Malva” who had come to the castle and boldly asked for an audience in front of everyone “Virindeus” who had approached her at a party “Venetus” who was a complete ass to her and blamed everyone else for his problems “Aureus” she added and paused, Aureus was the biggest shock to her if she was honest, especially because he sought her out at the castle “And Erythreus” who she knew was the person Artemis wanted to hear about.
“I can’t say I particularly wanted an audience with them but I have to hear them out, there’s no way we get onto that peace contract without finding some middle ground between us all” she nodded a little and waited to see what Artemis had to say about it.
Artemis was glad to see, Ophelia figured out another piece of technology for the night. “Lucky for you, I brought some gel nail varnish among the pampering things.” As far as she knew; none of the girls wore gel nail varnish; so she had taken the liberty of buying some out in the shops earlier. So they could give the lamp a bit of a test.
It seemed like lately, everyone was holding onto something. Whether it was their Wayfinder holding onto whatever ‘issues’ and ‘heartache’ she was going through. Or whether it was one of the other Celestial’s holding onto some sort of pain, from the night terrors or bitter resentment, anger, hatred and heartbreak when it came to the whole ordeal at the Isle of Skye. But everyone was marked in one way or another. Even if she hid it well; by always helping out others; like she was trying to help Ophelia this day Artemis herself held back a lot of anger and resentment, and heartbreak about everything. But like most; she hated to speak about it.
If she was being truthful to herself-she still didn’t know how to truly deal with it. So maybe, silence was the best option. Kind of like Ophelia was doing. There were so many things, the Celestial’s still didn’t know about the fall; and a part of Artemitra felt truly curious what had really happened; and why they got captured in the first place. She just didn’t want to put the Wayfinder in an awkward position by asking too many questions about it.
Artemis herself finished a few pieces of nibbles; as they were talking among themselves. Ophelia was right. They were always flighty beings. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right. I guess, everything going around in Evermore, doesn’t help either.” The brunette said referring to the mystery missing people and deaths, that had started few weeks ago. She hoped, whatever it was. That it would stop. She was sure by now, every faction needed some peace and quiet. Not Chaos to be spreading among everyone slowly.
But in all fairness; it felt good to have some normally. Especially since they had moved to Evermore. She just hoped, it would last. Artemitra didn’t want to face to the possibility of running again, not when she was starting to feel somewhat settled and building a life for herself; like the rest of their faction was trying. Listening to her closest-friend and ambassador talk about the meetings. The brunette had an intense look on her face; clearly deep in thought. Maybe they were still strangers, everyone else seemed to have lived here longer, established maybe more of a reputation and alliances. For them, it was a work in progress. Especially with Ophelia’s leadership and dealing with the other ambassadors. “Maybe….have you thought about approaching some of the other Ambassadors for an alliance?” Even though, they did have a quiet a good alliance with the Valkyrs. Maybe they needed more, to show they were more open and willing for other allies, rather than just one.
The other Celestial almost held her breath; when Ophelia listed the faces she had seen lately. It made sense, that she would see more of the Ailwards than anything else. But it was surprising, she had met almost with all of them...and especially Aureus. Her heart clenching, at the one familiar name, she was secretly asking about. Artemis was always one of those, that had done anything to avoid the Ailwards-if she could. But one day, it be inevitable; if she came face to face with one of them again. “Did they say anything….interesting?” The brunette finally breathed out. Her voice bit shaky from nerves. Artemis was almost dreading the answer to that question, downing the rest of her wine rather quickly; in hopes to take a bit of edge of off her nerves.
Her brows slightly furrowed, at what Ophelia was saying. Middle Ground? What middle ground, would that be? The Celestial wondered, but she didn’t say out loud. Knowing, she might sound more bitter than intended if she spoke. “Peace treaty?” Artemis looked unsure. Wasn’t what they have tried to do once before….at the Isle of Skye, before they got locked up like animals? “Which one of them….proposed the treaty?” Artemitra wondered if any of them could be trusted. Did any of them, even feel guilt, regret for what they have done? Or did they just, not care at all? So many thoughts were swimming inside of her head at the moment, Artemis didn’t know where to begin.
“Oooh perfect” she spoke with widened eyes before she got to her feet and found the bag of different nail varnishes and empty it out onto the carpet so she could look through them as they talked and between taking bites of the food that Artemis had cooked them. She arranged them into two piles, regular and gel and then organized them into color order to make it easier to figure out which ones to use.
The hardest part of the pain she was going through was always feeling as though she needed to bury it, she was getting very good at it but she knew it wasn’t a healthy thing to do, but how did you tell a room full of people that you fell for someone who was a part of the very reason they lost a century of their lives. She knew how much her people hated the Ailward faction and especially Aureus. She hadn’t hidden any of her meetings with the aspects though, in fact, most of them were doing in plain sight of everyone in the castle.
But Ophelia also couldn’t bring herself to lie to them if they asked her a direct question, especially when it came to the fall and where they stood in the city, her discussions with the other factions and trying to resolve their standing in the city was everyone’s business, though she knew not all of them were thrilled to be playing ball to the city’s rules she did believe that was for the best, if they wanted any kind of life, being on Evermore City’s peace contract was their best hopes of securing it.
When A mentioned the things happening in the city, Ophelia swallowed, that definitely concerned her and she was almost certain it was related to what happened that night on Skye, the celestials had seen what the carnage that night looked like for themselves and the descriptions in the news of what was happening here was eerily similar “Everyone’s on edge that’s for sure, no one even knows what we’re up against and I’m starting to wonder how much time we have” she pressed her lips together “Which is why I agreed to help Aureus with the investigation he’s leading” as much as she hated him for what he did, she knew exactly who had the best shot of figuring out what was happening in the city.
Ophelia grimaced a little at the mention of alliances and she shrugged softly “The valkyr chose to approach us because they know they’re vulnerable to our energy and it’s of benefit to them to keep us on side” she stated thoughtfully “But we’re not in a winning position here, there is little we have to offer another faction from this position and most won’t even consider it without us signing the contract” she ran her tongue over her bottom lip, the politics in Evermore were based on trust and knowledge of one another and they were still strangers to the rest of the factions who had been here for years. “The only one I considered was approaching the diviners but I don’t think even considering giving diviners celestial energy is wise” she nodded, that had been a massive mistake the first time after all.
The word interesting was relative and Ophelia wasn’t sure how much Artemis wanted to get into it, she wasn’t going to lie about it though, everyone in the faction deserved to understand what they were up against “For the most part, they seem to regret what they did, though I’m still not sure if that’s because of the guilt due to what it eventually led to” she nodded “Ven is less understanding which is hard because he’s the one we really need on side right now” he was the leader of the faction after all. “Aureus couldn’t find reason to doubt me after I agreed to let him see my memories though I made it very clear I don’t trust him” she sighed softly “But their mind is on the same thing ours is, whoever it is that’s causing all these issues in Evermore who they also believe caused the fall of Skye” she nodded solemnly.
At the mention of the peace treaty Ophelia nodded “Yeah the one managed by the Ailward for every faction in the city” it had always been her intention to get her people on there because it prevented factions from harming one another and that was another layer of protection they needed “None of them, they own the treaty but signing it is protection in the city from every faction and without it, we are seen as an enemy to the city” but she refused to sign it all this time because she knew it gave the Ailward the upper hand on them. She leaned her hand against her face and met the other brunette’s eyes “It does feel like I’m caught between two places” she admitted with a half attempt at a smile.
