During the weekends, Caleb liked to make room in life for relaxation. For him, that often included his hobbies. Like his job, most of them were art related, but they were less practical. He liked to spend his spare time learning new skills, even ones that he might be bad at. It was a great way to pass the time and engage his mind in learning. There were endless new avenues when it came to art, but lately he had been fascinated with the idea of taking old things and making them new again. He’d done it before. When he first returned to the small house he’d grown up a few years ago, it had been covered in cobwebs and weeds. It was strange that only fifteen years could make nature move back in like it had never gone. One of the first steps he’d taken was to remove the old furniture and take it to a flea market.
On a late summer morning in Evermore, a flea market sounded like an ideal place to find a storied object. In such a big city, it was easy to find a gathering like it. Saturday mornings were ideal for such activities. Caleb only had to walk a few miles before coming across a street which had been closed off in white tents.
A colorful array of people fluttered through the street. It was quite picturesque.
He quickly found himself at home in the crowd. He usually avoided hoardes of people, but with a pair of headphones in his ears and a Great Wall of antiques to look through it was much less intimidating.
The stall with a huge selection of old books quickly grabbed his attention and Caleb found himself carefully handling volume by volume of classic texts until a slim one towards the bottom caught his eye. It was an abridged copy of The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas.
It had long been his favorite book. For many years, he’d sympathized and understood the struggles of young Edmond Dantès.
But, before he could lay a claim to the treasure, a small hand with brightly colored fingernails grasped the text.
Caleb looked up to see a familiar face.
“Mitra,” he exclaimed. “Bonjour.”
It had been a while since he’d seen his old friend. They’d lost touch after the third member of their small clan had left the city. “Apparently, we have a similar taste in books.”

It had been a while, since the brunette celestial had some time to spare. Most of the time, she had been working. Taking new photographs and composing new work pieces for the art gallery, where her work was displayed. If she wasn’t working, she had been helping decorate the Celestial manner, when Phe decided it was time to upgrade one or a few rooms at the castle. So in a way, she was at work even when at home. Not that she minded. Artemis always enjoyed being creative and finding new ways to express that creativity. Guess it was something that she had learned from her friend Caleb. It helped having an artistic eye and a mind-set.

Occurring to her, that she had sort of lost touch with Caleb, since Ridley had left Evermore few months prior. Not that she meant to lose touch. Time had just sort of gotten away from her. Often wondering what her human friend was up to. Was he keeping well? She hoped that he was. It was the weekend, and unaware of Caleb’s plans. She didn’t want to bother him, in case she ruined some of his plans. The Brunette herself was out and about in town. Having headed to the local market, to see if she could find something interesting. Liking to browse every so often, when she was wandering the market stalls. Reminding herself to call him, when she’d get back home to see if they could arrange something for a future day. Knowing they had plenty to catch up on.

It didn’t take long for her to be by the books section, when she had arrived at the market. There had been a few suggestions from friends that she wanted to give a read. Hoping she would find what she was looking for. As she reached for one particular book that screamed out for her attention. “Bingo.” she smiled to herself. Remembering that this was worth a read.

Her trail of thought was broken, when she heard a familiar voice. “Caleb.” a pleasant smile on her face, as she turned to face him. “Oh? I remembered you suggested this book ages ago. So I thought I’d give it a read.” Artemis said with a soft smile. “But if you want to grab the copy, feel free to.” Holding it out to Caleb. She’d manage to find another copy, somehow.

“How have you been?” Artemis asked softly.
