To The Moon and Back (Open to Jaesung, Sangeun and Hanseol) COMPLETED

The topic of his family and when he was going to tell them the truth about the life he now lived in Evermore had been on the forefront of Jae’s mind for a long while now, he didn’t know how you just came out and told the people who mattered to you so much that you aren’t what they wanted you to be. Jae had been putting it off for months, it was never the right time he would tell himself, he would go onto a video call with his parents and think he had worked up the courage to tell them what was on his mind and then he would have the usual discussion about what he achieved and how they couldn’t wait for him to come home to Korea and bring pride to his family. He knew they were waiting for him to fold, biding their time while they let him live his dream knowing he’d come running back them. Except he didn’t want to go running back, far from it.

There was only one person from his past that knew about the life he led now and the only reason he had been forced into telling them was because they came to visit in Evermore and saw him and Hanseol together. While they hadn’t seen any of their more intimate gestures, Jae had decided to share the truth with them because he needed to ask them to keep their mouths shut about what they saw. And as told by the lack of mentioning in on calls and messages, they had been true to their word and not told his parents about what they saw. Still Jae felt like he was living a lie, one he didn’t want to live now that he was sure that the future he wanted to have was here in Evermore, not just because his boyfriend was here but because he really enjoyed the way of life here and he found himself getting more and more attached to it with each day that passed.

He’d been putting a lot of thought into it, so much so that it was keeping him up at night lately, he was trying to figure out what to do or how he broke it to his family without completely losing them but every way that he saw it playing out ended badly. Jae didn’t know how to get past it, he couldn’t ask Han for advice because he really had no idea about the sort of community Jae was raised and Daehyun wasn’t any use either considering how unorthodox his life had been. Honestly, Jae had been wanting to call Sangeun and talk to him about things for a long time but he knew how busy his brother was with big clients lately and the last thing Jae wanted to do was add to Eun’s already full plate with problems he didn’t need.

The dhampir was lost in thought as his head was rested against Hanseol’s shoulder, they had some movie about people who got drunk and did stupid things playing on the TV but he hadn’t really been paying much attention to it, just enjoying having some peace and quiet in the dorm apartment and getting to spend time with his favorite person. Still, he wished he could pay attention to the movie because the whirring going on in his mind was starting to make him restless, still, he did his best not to move too much as he kept his eyes on the screen and got lost in his mind again. It was one of those rare afternoons they spent at Jae’s dorm because it was nearer to the grocery store which they would go to in the evening one most people had finished and gone home for the day, it made the shopping process easier for both of them, Jae’s roommates were also always out for this little period every week so it worked out well.

Jae almost jumped out of his skin when heard a knocking at the door and he turned to Han with a curious expression on his face, well he wasn’t expecting any guests so he figured it was just someone coming to check in on the apartment or something “Back in a moment” he stated and pressed a soft kiss to the star’s cheek before he headed into the hallway and up to the front door. He didn’t even bother to look through the eyeglass, just reached for the handle and pulled the door open. The moment that the door was fully open Jae gasped in shock before he completely threw his entire body at the figure standing in the doorway capturing him in a hug that was so forceful that it would have tackled them both to the ground if it wasn’t for the fact his brother was pretty strong.

“What the hell is this?” Jae murmured into Eun’s shoulder as he held him tightly completely in disbelief that he was actually here, Jae forced himself to pull back to look his brother over completely shocked to see him “Why didn’t you call?” he asked with widened eyes “Not that I’m complaining, I just…” he pressed his lips together “만나보게 돼서 기뻐 (I’m glad to see you)” Jae spoke before he realized he’d been quite loud with his excitement.

Jae nodded when Eun asked him whether he felt like he could be more like himself here “I found a me I didn’t even know existed” he spoke it softly and nodded a few more times as he considered the truth of that statement in his mind “I don’t think I was ever build to fit their perfect mold” he spoke it softly, he had tried for a long time but he was always told to try harder or to be more like his brothers like he could just bend the person he was because they wanted him to. So it didn’t surprise him much when Eun told him that their father asked him to convince him to come home “Just hearing that makes me want to show him how wrong he is about me” he looked up at his hyung and nodded slightly “He’s not just a bit pissed Eun, when he finds out about me and Han” he made a finger dragging against his neck motion and sighed slightly. He wasn’t sure he was mentally prepared for that reality but he knew it was coming sooner or later.

“Our father doesn’t understand that we live in 2019” he grumbled slightly as he eyed the elder male, sometimes he felt shocked to his core by the way his father could act and the things he came out with which felt so backward compared to the world around them “But I’m reaching the point where I’m tired of trying to be everything he wants me to be” he pressed his lips together for a moment, he was tired of being someone he wasn’t and putting on a front, especially when he tended to only be met with disappointment regardless and it all felt pointless. He looked back at En as he talked about his first kiss not being a big deal, he tilted his head to the side slightly and sighed “Is that what you keep telling yourself?” he knew his brother and he knew there was part of him that longed for a really good life and Eun had always been family-driven, Jae wouldn’t believe for a second that he didn’t want one of his own. “But at least you still have the chance to make it mean something” there was something romantic about the idea of your first kiss being with someone who was really special to you, he wished Han was his first in all honesty.

“None of us said anything and we set this impossible bar for ourselves that we keep reaching for knowing we’re always going to fall short” the expectations were so high that it was near impossible to meet them, that was evident now when his brother had quite literally aced his law school and got into a good firm and that still wasn’t enough for their father to back down from controlling his life, in something Jae truly believed a parent shouldn’t have a say in. Jae grinned a little sheepishly when Eun said he was living domestically “I guess you could call it that” he spoke softly “I never expected myself to be the type who wanted to live with someone else, but I guess we just kinda work” he didn’t officially live with Han but he spent so many nights there that sometimes it felt like he did.

Jae watched Eun’s reaction as the realization set in about this marriage and how it wasn’t over once he said ‘I do’, by letting their father push him into this union he was also signing up for having to continue the family name and have a child which might be something Eun would want for himself but not necessarily how he might want it to happen. Jae decided not to make any more comments on their father because it was bringing down the mood and he was sure he got his point across “I’m glad” he spoke softly when Eun said he was going to be in the city for a while “As selfish as it sounds I really need my brother” he spoke it softly as he looked up at him over the table and smiled softly “Just some reminders that I haven’t lost everything that mattered before” he nodded a few times with a sad smile on his lips “Visit any time you like, you’ll find Evermore likes to suck you in before you have the chance to fight it” he laughed gently because it didn’t make sense until you’d been here a while.

As the conversation moved to Han, the younger Dhampir had a sweet smile on his lips as he thought about the man he was lucky enough to call his boyfriend “He told me what he was not long after we met and before we were even dating I experienced someone trying to hunt him” he sighed gently because he hated that was the reality they faced “As for how serious” he blushed softly and looked down for a moment “I mean I told him I loved him and he said it back so” he shifted his gaze for a few moments and then sighed happily “We spend a lot of time together” he blushed even harder because of what he was suggesting “He makes me happy” he spoke again and was glad they were interrupted by the waiter bringing over their drinks which he thanked them for.

"You found a you that you never knew existed?" He was confused to what the younger male was trying to imply, Eun was under the impression that he found something he never thought he knew was real. But then again, he wouldn't be knowing for sure if Jae didn't clarify it to him. The elder Moon was always aware of how different Jae was to how the community back home works. People were always so judgmental it was slightly a toxic environment. Or maybe he was just sugarcoating that. "No, that's not supposed to be it, Jae" he shook his head and clicked his tongue to chastise him for even thinking that way, "Nobody should be have to be built to fit anyone's perfect mold. That doesn't exist. A perfect mold? That's a joke people try to use to justify their acts when really, they just didn't want to own up to what they've done." Just because one doesn't fit another's expectations, doesn't mean they're a faulty person. They were humans, not robots. People can't just write them off to the maintenance care.

The dhampir pressed his lips together to refrain the scowl from surfacing because he knew Jae was right, their father wouldn't only be pissed when he finds out about Jae's relationship with another boy. Having a relationship that young instead of focusing on his studies wasn't something their father would tolerate yes, but it was nowhere near the 'fault' that he would view upon knowing that his son's lover is a male. The homophobia drives deep and it was hard to take it out of him. "Our father will have to accept that he can't be controlling in times like this," he purposely highlighted the two first words that indicated their father, "One day, he'll come to see that. It's hard because...it's father. You and I both know he's as stubborn as a mule to date. But one day, he will have to, we just don't know when" Was this his attempt on trying to reassure his brother that their father would come to be lenient in the future? Or was he trying to convince himself that their father would also accept whatever decisions he may do? He wasn't even sure anymore. He swore his cheeks flamed up when Jae talked about his first kiss, Eun had no experience in that area whatsoever so he wouldn't know so he only told himself how hard can it get? which does not help. At all.

"Do you believe I would find someone like you found Jae?" he asked timidly, did he want that? He'd be lying if he doesn't. He's just not sure if now is the right time but he is also in the middle of getting married so he needed to think about that too. "We'll never be able to satisfy everyone," he nodded in affirmation, he agreed with that too. But what can he do? Say no to their father? He knew their father wouldn't take personal opinions as criteria which is slightly cold of him. Think with your heads, he said. Not with your hearts, he said. But he was thoroughly delighted to hear that Jae was making a good life of his own while being equally content and happy with someone he loves, "Ugh… I'm jealous" he teased. He placed a reassuring hold on Jae's hand, grinning sheepishly because he wanted the younger male to know he'll always be there for him, no matter what happens; no matter how badly he may fuck up. "I know it's very hard to turn a whole Sangeun Moon away. People like me, little brother. They love me." Though, Jae did have a point across regarding Evermore, it was so mysterious yet so beautiful. The enigmatic sense did draw him in far better than he'd admit.

Eun grimaced when the mention of someone hunting his brother's boyfriend came around but decided not to pry because he could sense how sensitive it is, the blush creeping up on the male's face across him made Eun guffawed, "Look at that blush! Both said I love yous huh? Cheesy bastards." But extremely romantic. "If he makes you happy, then he makes me happy." When the waiter came with their drinks, he waited for Jae to pour it in his glass because usually it's their custom for the younger to pour the drink, it was a habit. "Did I tell you I met someone else while I was here? Before I came today to meet you?"

“Sorry I know that sounds strange” he spoke softly and laughed under his breath because he was still the same Jae he had always been, the one who grew up alongside Eun, Ahri and Hyunsik “But I guess part of me was always trying to live up to our family expectations to the point where I’m not sure I was being true to myself” he looked over at the elder male and shrugged, that was how he saw it anyway. “Exactly, our father and our community expect us to be these perfect beings who are highly intelligent, work and pride focused and marry into high esteemed families” he sighed a little dramatically and shrugged “I just wanna be happy you know?” he was sure the other male shared the same sentiment on the topic, though it seemed like his brother was fully intent on going through with every single part of it.

“I like your optimism” Jae spoke in a slightly grumbling voice because he didn’t believe their father would ever evolve enough to be able to accept things that he had been raised to oppose. Jae was facing a reality where he needed to accept that the person he was, wasn’t what his father wanted him to be and to live the life he wanted he had to disappoint him. “Or he’ll just take his ways with him through life and he will end up very lonely” they had to remember their father was a Valkyr, he could quite literally live forever and somehow Jae didn’t think he would manage to go forever without pushing his children away. “But I’m slowly building up the strength I will need to face that reality and really all I hope for is that it doesn’t come between us” he looked up at Eun for a moment and nodded, he had always been pretty close with his brother and he’d hate to lose that bond.

Hearing how quiet and apprehensive his brother’s voice was when he asked if he could find someone like Jae found Han “I think so” he responded honestly, if there was hope for him finding the man he loved in a park in the middle of the night he was sure there was hope for anyone “I think given time and patience you could find someone who makes you really happy” he responded with an assured nod before biting his lip “But I don’t think it’s going to be with some girl from a list that father picked out for you” but if his brother wanted to go through with the wedding, Jae wasn’t going to make him feel worse about it, he would support him as any good brother should. He laughed gently when Eun said he was jealous “You’re right, they gravitate to you like some crazed fan club, especially the girls” he grinned slightly as he teased his brother.

When Eun pointed out the fact he was blushing that only made the younger male flush even more, lifting his hands to cover his cheeks because they were so warm from the embarrassment of how loud Eun had just bellowed that out “I swear I have never been so nervous about anything than when I kissed him for the first time” he shook his head slightly “I shocked him so bad he didn’t kiss me back and my heart” he pressed a hand against his chest and sighed to show what he meant, thankfully it was just shock and Han did feel the same way. Jae nodded at Eun’s sentiment about happiness, without thought he reached for Eun’s glass and poured it out for him before they continued their conversation “Well it’s a big city Eun, I’d be worried if you hadn’t met a single soul since coming to Evermore” he grinned slightly because he knew he was teasing and that wasn’t what Eun meant by that.

“No you didn’t mention it, who did you meet?” he asked with raised brows tilting his head to the side, it wasn’t like his brother to single out a certain person as significant because he was constantly surrounded with people fawning over him so if someone had actually caught his notice then that made the younger dhampir extremely curious. When the waiter brought over their food not long after the drinks, Jae waited patiently, watching the other male with a respectful smile on his face “I really hope you like the food, I know how much you enjoy a good seafood meal” he grinned slightly, plus this is the first time that Jae had chosen the place they went for a meal together.

"We've all been there and done that" he mused softly, hell, he was still living his life while being under his parents' thumbs. Whatever they wanted him to do, he would do it. It feels like he told himself he didn't have much of a choice when the option was pretty much laid out in front of him. The problem was that Eun is indecisive when it comes down to things like that. The disappointment his parents would feel, should be about tenfold if they knew what Jae had been doing here. And he didn't want to add it up by saying he wouldn't do what they want him to. Protecting his younger sibling should be his responsibility so if Jae was able to find the key to his happiness here, then he would support him without question. "From the way you talk, you seem happy here. Haven't you finally achieved that then? Of being happy?" Was he happy? Maybe. Maybe not.

They've never questioned their father before and it was understandable why he was and is still a strict man who would make sure his family follows the flow of how things should be done in his book. It was one of the reasons why their late grandmother wasn't too fond of him when he married their mother. "If he does that, then he knows he'll end up being very lonely. I don't think he wants that. Do you? Our father is immortal, he's a Valkyr and god knows how long he's lived, his family is everything to him… maybe, just maybe, he'll see this one through and accept it. Let's keep out for a hopeful mind, okay?" Eun knew it was a risky move. Hope is a dangerous thing to hold onto; especially if people are stubborn to the core. "Nothing will come between us, I promise. Even if father doesn't like it, I will always be your brother. Your blood. I'll always look out for you, Jae. That's what big brothers do" he assured and ruffled his hair, a habit he never quite got through even after all this time.

Jae was right, if he was going to find happiness and love, it wasn't going to stem from a girl he was arranged to marry in 8 months time. A girl he barely knew personally. Sure, he knows what she likes and what her favorite color was, but that was all because his mother actually gushed about her to him at almost every dinner session they had together. It was practically impossible not to know things about her. But he knew she didn't know why he likes a particular flower or why he prefers a particular setting. She didn't know the first thing about him. The same he doesn't too. "Oh, you should be proud to have such a good looking older brother, Jae. Even your boyfriend looked like he was going to pounce on me, not because I'm handsome though, I'm sure. But because I could easily be your secret lover, but that also means I am that handsome for him to take notice." He had this stupid grin etched on his lips the entire time he was hearing Jae telling his story, his brother really looked so happy and content, it was making him happy.

"God, you can totally nab a role in a soap opera. You're already as dramatic as a drama major. Literature got to you, little brother? Will I be hearing a lot of Shakespeare pickup lines now?" he jested teasingly and nudged him. When asked who he met, Eun found himself a bit flustered, because he didn't expect to have the question turned to him, "Just a cute kind guy I helped the other night. His bookstore was robbed… well, technically I stopped the robber before he could rob anything. He didn't lose anything but I gained a friend. Leighton Kingsman. Fancy name, I know." The same way Jae had gushed about Han, Eun was also excited to tell his brother about Leigh. The only difference was that, one is a boyfriend and the other is a friend. His eyes lit up at the sight of the food arriving and was already getting his hands on the chopsticks so he could dine in. "So he doesn't forget my favorite food" he chuckled. "I really like Evermore. I can see why you like it here. My first friend here happened to be a supernatural, that's not common back home."

Jae shrugged slightly when Eun asked him if he had found happiness “I am happy but I guess I just worry that if I let myself get too lost in it then reality is going to hit me and take it away” he pressed his lips together and sighed slightly, he always had this feeling like his father was just tolerating him and the things he wanted and that eventually he would come along and try and take it away from him, especially if he found out about him and Han and wanted to try and drive a wedge between them. “I think he’s lost in his own expectations and he’s not going to realize what his actions cause until he loses us...or me I guess” he nodded slightly as he glanced over at the elder Dhampir “I wish I had your level of optimism” though he wasn’t sure how founded it was, it more seemed like Eun wishing for the best because maybe if their father could accept Jae’s choices in life then maybe he would understand Eun’s hesitate to marry someone he didn’t know.

But he was relieved to hear the other male say that he would be there for him regardless of what happened, that gave him a sense of assurance that he really needed because Eun was someone really important to Jae and his opinions mattered to him. He had been scared to share this information with him but deep down he always knew his brother understood him better than the rest of his family did “And I will always look out for you too, even though it’s not my family duty or anything, I will always want what is best for you” he laughed softly when Eun ruffled his hair, flicking it to the side a little to correct it. Jae could see how apprehensive his brother was when it came to the idea of love which told him that he had probably never experienced it, until he met Han, Jae was in the same boat, his mind had never even been on relationships it had been on getting the career he wanted and enjoying the life he was given. Eun had always been driven by two things, his focus on getting a good career and future and his family, Jae imagined one day he wanted a family of his own but not in the way their father was imposing it on him.

Jae shot him a look when Eun went on about his good looks, if there was one thing that made his elder brother more confident than anything else, it was his own reflection. Good on him, he supposed, it wasn’t exactly a secret that the eldest Moon brother was a looker, everyone stared at Eun like he was some kind of model and he always had girls fawning over him for as long as he could remember. When Eun mentioned the way Han had stared at him he frowned for a moment though “No need to remind me that you’re handsome enough to try and steal my boyfriend” he grumbled but the tone was playful, sure, it was a little hard sometimes being in the shadow of someone who his society and family pretty much considered the perfect man but Jae knew better than to be jealous of someone who had always looked out for him and been the best brother he ever could have been.

He laughed softly when Eun said that his story sounded a little dramatic, okay, maybe the writer in him liked to romanticize it up a little but that state of mind was what made his creative writing work “Believe it or not, he’s the one who uses the cheesy lines out of the two of us” he grinned slightly, Han was one of those hopeless romantics who always said the most sappy thing that came to mind without any thought of how cliche it might sound when said out loud. Jae raised his brows intrigued as his brother talked about the guy he had met the other night and when he said the name he grinned slightly because he knew Leigh, not very well but he knew him “Oh I know the store, they’re the only place that carries most of the books I need to study for college” he spoke softly and pulled a face as he realized Leigh had been robbed “Thank god you were there, I can’t imagine how bad a robbery would have been for the business” he spoke softly “So you’re friends now huh?” he commented stressing the word friends because Eun had seemed so excited to talk about Leigh.

“Who could forget your favorite food when we got in that fight about wanting shrimp and steak when we were younger” he laughed softly, always wanting to go to different restaurants, most of the time their parents would give the eldest what he wanted though which often made the youngest sulk “Well they don’t call it the Eternal City for no reason” he commented with a half-smile watching as they set down the food in front of them and feeling his stomach grumble a little.

"Reality is what it is, it's not going to fall down and snatch you away, Jae. Remember, your life is what you make of it" he reminded softly, to see his brother flourish in his own new-found happiness, what kind of brother wouldn't want that for his sibling? Especially someone who he cherishes very much? Though the talk about their father does give Eun a bit of an internal pep talk with himself, the elder Moon has never disobeyed anything the man says, everything their father wills, it becomes a mandate that Eun was to strictly follow and abide. Which he did. And he still does, but after a while, perhaps it was his age catching up to him, but he didn't feel like he could truly be happy if he kept doing the same thing he always did. "I hope he'll realize that too, one day. And I hope that one day will come soon… Very soon" Or more preferably in his case, before he had to proceed with this loveless marriage arrangement. Can he say no? Perhaps. But can he say no to his father? That's a tough question.

"Sometimes my optimism can be a curse so I don't think you want much of it, you're fine on your own already" he grinned and ruffled his hair playfully before flaunting himself, "I mean, pretty sure you can wish to get more of my good looks but I think you're handsome enough, brother." It was as if time flew by so fast, he remembered Jae was just in high school with his bowl cut hair, he would hate to tuck in his school uniform too and Eun chastised him plenty of times because he won't do it, now Jae is grown up and he's already an undergraduate student in a good university in another country, studying a foreign language's literature. Proud is an understatement. "Look out for yourself first. I see you're very comfortable here. Don't let it get to your head and forget everything" It wasn't as if Eun wanted to break down Jae's beautiful dream into pieces, but he was simply reminding Jae to be mindful of his next steps that would eventually shape his own future.

"Please, I won't steal your boyfriend. Not that I'm saying I couldn't because who wouldn't fall for this" he pointed to his face, "But he looks like a loyal puppy." Which is his way of saying Han would take cheat on Jae and neither would Eun spare an effort to even try to steal him away. "Besides, I don't think I'm attracted to any living being." With the exception of few animals, yes. He saw the way Han looked at Jae when he came by, the way his pupils dilated upon seeing Eun standing in front of the entrance and being incredibly protective when it was related to Jae. No wonder his brother loves it here. No one to control anything he does. Free will. What a good thought. "So you found someone who is so much more cheesier than you? Oh god... " He could already imagine it. His ears turned red for a brief while when Jae asked if he's friends with Leigh now, to which he nodded, "We have each other's numbers to contact and he seems like a good guy. A bit too kind and humble for this world, perhaps." Just the kind of guy Eun could smile around.

"I guess in a way you can say he's my first friend here." He remembered when their parents would eventually cave into his desires most of the time which sometimes made the elder Moon guilty for doing that to his brother, so when he grew older and was already getting plenty of allowance and pocket money alike while studying, every time he could go home, he would try to take Jae out for food. "I think I'm going to like it here" he mused lightly and started to dig in on his food, the texture was pretty impressive and it had the dhampir diving for another bite. "Okay, and this place is going to be my regular place the entire time I'll be here." Halfway digging in his meal, he glanced back up at the male sitting across him, wondering if anything happened here, "I know it seems like all good and fun here, but what's the downside of it? Has anything happened to you that's not that pleasant to hear?" It was basically a message asking Jae if he's ever gotten himself in trouble or danger before.

Jae was reminded often just how good his brother was at giving him advice, always advising the younger Dhampir and offering an ear when he needed someone, not everyone could say they were close friends with their brother but Jae certainly could “I know that” he spoke softly and nodded a few times “I guess I’m just a little wary of having so much to lose” because he knew how much it would break his heart if that happened and he wasn’t sure what he would do to recover from that. “I wouldn’t hold your breath” he commented a little bitterly when Eun said he hoped their father would have a change of heart soon, he felt for his brother because he was sure he meant before he was forced to marry someone he didn’t love. Jae reached up to squeeze his brother’s shoulder gently in a gesture to say he was there for him silently and understood the struggles he was going through.

“I don’t know, I feel like it would be nice to get a break from thinking about the worst-case scenario first” he admitted with an amused shake of his head lifting his gaze to meet Eun’s for a moment, giving a mocking glare because of the way he had ruffled and messed up his hair “You know I think I’ll pass on having the world stare at me constantly” he commented with a chuckle, his brother had probably told every excuse there was in the book to get away from unwanted affection, after all, he was definitely voted the more attractive male in school and people always stopped and stared whenever he passed. Jae nodded when he said he should keep humble and make the most of what he had “You know it has been harder than I expected to adapt to a life here, everything feels so different” not necessarily in a bad way but it had been a whole shift in mindset for him and he had definitely tripped metaphorically along the way while figuring everything out, not to mention how different life was after you moved out of your childhood home.

Jae grinned slightly to himself, dropping his gaze for a moment when Eun mentioned how loyal Han seemed “Well I guess you could say we’re in the blissful stage right now, I’m sure there will be bumps along the way but I trust him” he nodded a few times thoughtfully. His gaze did soften when Eun said he didn’t think he was attracted to anyone though, Jae had noticed that before, how no matter how many people seemed to be interested in the elder Dhampir, he never seemed to reciprocate, Eun always just focused on his studies rather than other people “No one?” he didn’t want to say anything like he would find someone because perhaps he wouldn’t, not everyone experienced attraction the same way, right? He had to laugh when Eun said he found someone cheesier than him “It sounds almost impossible right? But you should hear some of the lines he’s come out with” he shook his head in an amused manner.

Jae had to admit he was intrigued by the fact his brother had brought up a certain person like they were significant though, he had never really done that in the past, he was much more likely to bring up a case he was working on or before that a paper “Oh so you’re on texting terms huh?” he grinned with a playful look curious to know more about this ‘first friend’ he had made here in Evermore “I find that you meet some really interesting people here, everyone just seems a little more” he paused thoughtfully “open I suppose” it was much harder to just approach people and make conversation without being considered strange back home, here it was perfectly expected. “Good, maybe that means I can convince you to stay a little longer” he teased and then started to also dig into his food, popping a mouthful into his mouth while he listened to Eun enthuse about the food “I told you it was pretty amazing” he responded with a chuckle “Maybe you should invite your friend to come to try it too” he smiled softly.

When asked if there was a downside he shrugged slightly “I definitely haven’t gotten along all that well with my roommates, they expect me to do a lot and don’t give much back” he sighed thinking about how many sleepless nights he’d had because of them “And I miss home a lot, lots of little things that just make me forget for a moment where I am” the timezone was especially difficult because it made him feel so out of touch with his family. “And then there’s Han, he’s a star which means there always seems to be someone out to hurt him and it’s my job to protect him” he pressed his lips together, at least he was training to be able to protect him.

"All of us do, Jae. We're afraid to lose anything… or everything. The moment you put something on the line, it becomes scary." In a way, Eun could find the irony in his words, he was risking everything by going forth with this plan of his, the plan his parents had decided for him for months now. The one he wouldn't resist nor protest. The start but also the end of his future. He only pressed his lips together in a tight firm line when Jae retorted bitterly about their father having a change of heart, he couldn't even say the younger male was wrong about it. That's when he realized that he got himself into an awful predicament that he may not be able to escape if he doesn't make a move on the board soon. Maybe he'll be the one eaten by the piece. Maybe he'll be knocked over to the side because he didn't strike now. He desperately wished that Jae was wrong about their father but the fact remains that he couldn't even say he was wrong because Jae's not wrong. Their father will not change his ways. Not now. His immortality will never catch up to that as fast as they would like to wish it did.

"Oh please, I think a lot of people would want this face for their own" he made his point just by pinching his cheeks playfully, Jae was, after all, indeed, attractive. "The good kind of different, I hope. You look different, Jae, and I don't mean the haircut or behavior. You seem happier, and I know it's not just because of that star. You found yourself." Not everyone gets the chance and he was eternally grateful to know that his brother is one of the lucky ones to have that. "Maybe the entire you, but you found a piece." Eun knew relationships could never last long without any arguments or rifts along the way, he's witnessed plenty of that as a kid with his parents before the birth of his other siblings, "If you trust him, then I'll trust him too. I trust that he won't break your heart. Or else, I'll break more than that of him. Humans have what- 206 bones? I know he's a star but his anatomy is the same as human so... " Eun may not be the one who would resort to violence or physical but just because he doesn't prefer to do it, he couldn't.

He shook his head and said nope when Jae asked if there was no one he was attracted to, surprisingly, the elder dhampir didn't feel that way about anyone. Not romantically. sometimes he wondered if there was something wrong with him. Why didn't he experience attraction like others? "I think I'll pass" he gagged playfully and leaned back against his seat to prevent Jae from swatting him for his reaction. "I mean, I'm sure we'll call each other soon once we pass the stage of… acquaintances?" Leigh is a good guy, and Eun likes his company, even over the messenger. "Don't worry, you won't be able to get of me that easily even if you wanted to, little brother" Eun intends to see what's going around, this was the last place he'll be at before his bachelor period ends.

The idea of inviting Leigh to the same place was a good one, he gave Jae a nod and blissful grin, "Maybe I should." The mention about his roommates not doing the bare minimum had Eun clenching his jaw briefly, "You have to endure? I guess that's how things work, anyway" He understood if Jae had to do that. He would have done the same. At least, long enough before he could move. "I want to ask why he's being hunted down but I feel like it's not appropriate. But you're a dhampir, brother, it's your nature to protect someone. Protect each other, at the end of the day, both of you only have each other, well, yours is not true because you got me, but you get my point. Stay strong, and stay cool. Besides, if you need someone to kick your ass, I'm always here. "

“This isn’t just a bad grade or missing a train though, this is….big” he commented in a soft voice, he knew it was natural to feel a fear of losing something you had but when losing it could have such a big impact on your life and your own happiness, that made you even more cautious. He hoped he was getting across to Eun his concerns about the elder Dhampir’s decision to go along with what their father had planned for him, to Jae, it was almost criminal to commit to such a thing and end up married to someone you didn’t know and the younger male wouldn’t change his mind on that, he would remind Eun of what he was giving up until the end because he would have wanted someone to tell him it was a bad idea had it been the other way around.

He gave his brother a slightly annoyed look as he pinched his cheeks, there was something about his elder siblings that always made them treat him like a baby even though he was now an adult and had left home “It’s good and bad in different ways” he responded with a shrug of his shoulders, he wasn’t going to pretend like life here was perfect and that there hadn’t been times he wanted to run back home “But you’re right, it’s mostly good, I think the slightly more free-spirited society fits me” it did make him wonder if that was why his father was so against letting him go to American, he was afraid of losing the grip he had on his son. Jae winced a little at the threat which Eun made towards Han if he would hurt him “Ouch brother, remind me not to get on your bad side” he chuckled softly because it was a nice sentiment that Eun was so protective over the younger Moon.

Jae had to laugh when Eun said he would pass on hearing some of Han’s cheesy lines, couldn’t say he blamed him there, sometimes they were even too much for Jae and he was the one who was dating Han. Jae raised his brows slightly at the mention of moving from texting to calling “Oh things are moving so fast for you brother, before long you’ll be” he purposely gasped for dramatic effect as he looked back at the dark-haired male “Making plans to actually go out and do things for fun” he spoke it like it was some kind of crime, he laughed softly but smiled because he was glad that Eun had made a new friend here already, maybe that would mean he stuck around for a while, if he enjoyed the city. “Good, because I could really use my hyung” he responded it honestly, just seeing Eun today had made him feel that little bit less homesick.

He shrugged slightly when Eun asked him if he had to endure his roommates “Yeah it’s not all that easy to get new ones, plus I don’t really want to cause unnecessary trouble” he spoke it softly between eating bites of his food, savoring the taste because he didn’t get to often come out to a nice dinner, most of the time he would eat instant noodles because they were cheap and did the job of filling him up enough. “It’s kinda a long story” he admitted with a slightly sad smile “But the short version is Han’s kind have some very powerful magic that people want to steal” he was sure he didn’t need to tell his brother that they would be bad and greedy people. “I’m really glad you’re here” he spoke softly as they continued their meal and caught up on everything from home and Evermore until late.
