Chase Bellerose family’s story begins with his parents, Carli Danford and Alexander Bellerose; the pair met on what some would not call the most romantic of evenings. Both of them at the time were working as sole independent con-artists. As Carli lowered herself into the building, after working at this bank for many weeks, she landed upon a security guard that she later found out had the same intentions she did. That security guard of course being Alexander who was also after the money in that particular bank in Denmark. The money that they personally targeted had belonged to a renowned Mafia group from Russia. It was clear that the Mafia were working for Izolda Romanoff, one of the most female sought after Mafia leaders of the 21st century.
Romanoff’s Mafia were well known in Carli and Alexander's hometown in the Centre-Val de Loire region, France. It was also known that the Mafia had money in many banks across the world, Alexander and Carli teaming up to conquer them one at a time. The Phoenix and Nephilim naturally made a good team and soon they became an item. A month after conquering four of the banks, Romanoff had hired a trained assassin to locate the couple and retrieve the money before killing them.
Before this could happen, Alexander and Carli caught wind of it and went into hiding. They flew back to Centre-Val de Loire and bought one of the many vineyards that were there. The wine business was the main source of income for the region and the ‘Moreau & Bellerose’ vineyard in France was no different to any of the other vineyards that the two had later set up around the world. After three years of laying low and the ‘Danford & Bellerose’ vineyards around the world being very successful, Carli and Alexander decided to get married and the vineyards came to be known as ‘Bellerose & Family’.
Their time alone as a married couple soon ended as Carli realised she was pregnant. A year later Charles was born and he was just the beginning of the many children they would have together. In this time Alexander and Carli agreed it was best for their family if the two completely gave up being con-artists as it would only endanger Charles and his future.
As Charles was the eldest he had to endure many of the ups and downs of Carli and Alexander's parenting as they adjusted to the quiet life. Charles had to deal with them accidentally leaving him at the gas station when he was 2 but they had good reason for it as Carli was having contractions their new baby was about to be born. It was a girl and they named her Adrianna. Adrianna Bellerose, as the name suggests, was not only beautiful, but also precious and within the age of one, she had the entire family wrapped around her tiny fingers.
Over the three years together Charles and Adrianna had grown close together and they also took on the role of bodyguard of the next child Carli and Alexander would have, Cameron. Cameron took after Alexander and had blonde curls, the rest of the family all being brunette.
Being protected by his older siblings, Cameron would always be the mischievous one and often pull small pranks on his parents. One of these pranks was placing superglue on Alexander's seat as he loaded Carli, Charles and Adrianna in the car. They were on the way to the hospital and to Alexander's dismay he missed the birth of his fourth child, Alaiza, as he was stuck to the car seat.
Even though Cameron and Alaiza were close in age Cameron never really got close to Alaiza because as his kid sister she would always spoil his pranks by telling on him to their parents. Alaiza also always expected praise from Cameron after telling on him as Cameron always taught Alaiza to tell the truth even though Cameron himself would not tell the truth. Alaiza would never receive the praise she wanted and got the cold shoulder instead.
Chase was later born and it was at this stage that Carli and Alexander revealed that their family was special as they were supernatural. This didn’t really make sense to Chase as he was so young and his attention span was short. Chase went about his life until Cameron recruited him as an apprentice in his pranking schemes. Because Chase still had the cute factor it often softened the blow of Carli and Alexander's wrath when they had found out what the boys had done. This still applied when the boys had repainted the nursery just before Arianna was born.
From a very young age, Carli and Alexander had started training their children in the defense art, knowing that they would either grow up to be Nephilims or Phoenixes, and both required for them to have full knowledge about their potential. The Bellerose siblings were no strangers to the world of supernatural, they had seen friends of their parents who were vampires, necromancers, fae, werewolves and even shifters. They knew the two types of life laid out in front of them - be a Nephilim and a protector of humans, or a Phoenix and fight against the Initias. When red lines appeared on Charles’s body, Adrianna knew he was different from her, for she had developed thick white scars on either sides of her shoulder blades. It disappointed the siblings to know that they were destined to be different, but their love never diminished. Soon, the other siblings began to reveal their species. Cameron was a Nephilim, along with Chase while Arianna and Alaiza were Phoenixes. Even though they were not all the same, Carli and Alexander taught the children to stick together and love them all equally, a trait that would keep them all united in the years to come.
It wasn't a surprise to anyone when Cameron and Chase were Nephilim because when the pair bickered and would play-fight, there was barely anyone who could separate them. Especially with their superior strength over their Pheonix siblings.
Charles grew up to be the responsible one in the family. Adrianna following close behind. Cameron and Chase were the pranksters of the household, and a pain for everyone, especially the staff. They were mischievous and often scolded. However, it was Chase’s cute factor that saved them from trouble most of the time. Alaiza was the more sensible one out of the six. She was quiet and reserved and often found herself in the company of books and horses, whenever her best friend and the youngest, Arianna was off being spoilt by the nannies and other staff. The youngest was the most outgoing, wild and sometimes, a rebel, of the family. She would often pick up fights with others in school, or argue and fight with the other members when she wouldn’t have her own way. However, it was only Alaiza who could keep her in check and made her as humble as polite as her stubborn attitude would let her.
A couple years had passed by when Carli and Alexander were visited by another Mafia group who threatened their family and their identity if they didn’t get the job done. Forced by the safety of the Bellerose household, the couple decided to carry out this one last mission, in hopes that this would be the end of their con life. Chase first noticed something was different when his parents left the house late at night.
He also noticed Adrianna didn't have the same trust in her parents that she use to, she also started leaving the house at weird times and came back at the crack of dawn. Chase heard Charles and Adrianna fighting one night but thinks nothing of it as the next day there seems to be nothing different about them except maybe the fact they were a little closed off. This made Chase worry especially when his parents never came home. He never heard the key in the front door like he usually would as they returned, because they never did return. It made Chase think that the Bellerose parents were at one of the vineyards and forgot to tell them. Adrianna and Charles seemed to go through different emotions after that; hurt, revengeful, the list goes on and suddenly, one day, they disappeared.
A few days later, an excessive banging had awoken the entire Bellerose household at 3am in the morning. A drowsy Cameron, accompanied by Lorenzo, their most trusted servant, had opened the door to find Adrianna carrying a comatosed Charles in her arms. Tears staining her sharp features, she went straightaway to Charles room and placed him on the bed, the others inquiring of what had happened and where their parents were.
It was in a moment like that when Adrianna felt most alone. It took her a couple of days to compose herself, handling the grief, anger and guilt that had all overwhelmed her and finally tell the truth to everyone. "A mafia had threatened their life if they didn’t return with the gem. But, they sold it, instead. Our parents refused to walk on the path of wrong, for us. They didn’t want to be shamed in front of their own children.” Adrianna sobbed, as she sat on the couch in the living room, surrounded by the other siblings and the most trusted staff. “The Mafia, they hired an assassin and he got to our parents on our way back home.”
Adrianna also said that the reason she knew was because she heard Carli and Alexander talking about their cons one night. She couldn't trust them and lurked in the background of their cons to protect them. Charles later found out also and tried to protect Adrianna. The two of them had travelled to Carnavalet museum where they confronted Carli and Alexander. To earn back their forgiveness, Carli and Alexander had proposed they take a tour around Paris before returning home. It was on their way back, when their car came to a sudden halt and Charles and Adrianna had to witnesses their own parents death. She further told them that the two had then begun on a quest to kill their parents’ murderer and that Charles being in a coma was the result of them succeeding.
The news was met with melancholy and it was only the wish to see Charles wake up once again that held them all together, instead of the siblings closing off and handling grief by themselves. It changed them all drastically, Chase and Cameron began to grow quieter, the number of pranks they pulled, decreasing. Although they tried their best to keep the smiles on everyone’s faces, their own were grief-stricken and gloomy. The world to them had drained of fun and happiness. Both of them decided, together, they would never give up on finding a new happiness. Especially after a part of their old happiness, their parents, had gone. Arianna began to research more about Mafia’s and cons, in hopes of finding peace and if it wasn’t for Alaiza, she would have fallen into the dark world of gangsters and treachery.
By the time Charles awoke, big decisions had piled up over the family. Now legal guardians, Charles, twenty-eight and Adrianna, twenty-six, were forced to make choices for the rest of the family. They were all still in shock from the events, still in pieces when one night, the angel-children, Adrianna, Cameron and Chase ran out of their rooms and stumbled into the living room in great pain. Chase still remembers the feeling of having the scars on his shoulder blades being ripped open, his head throbbing as his entire body spasmed in pain before everything went black.
The next morning when they awoke, the Bellerose family were met with a new set of events. Charles, Arianna and Alaiza were gifted with the ability to manipulate weather, whereas, Adrianna, Cameron and Chase had wings. This arose a lot of questions, and resulted in a distraction from all the sorrow that loomed over the house. Charles and Adrianna, inquisitive and seeing this as an opportunity to move on, decided it was time for them to all pack up and leave the house behind, on the journey of finding answers to their questions.
Everyone except Arianna agreed to the decision, and it took the rebel a few weeks of persuasion to finally join the family in their journey across the globe. After about a year and half of roaming around for answers, Cameron caught wind of a city named Evermore, an abode for supernatural. They spent no time in travelling across the ocean and within a few months, they had bought themselves a house in the city and were settling down.
The faction system greatly disappointed them at first, since it meant the family couldn’t stick together, however, the Phoenix and the Nephilim Ambassador, Leona d’Fierro and Cornelia Bradford, helped them settle down in the city, agreeing to still make them a part of the community, despite the fact that they wouldn’t live in the faction. A city for supernatural, that was now their new home. Evermore was also the reason Cameron and Chase began to prank again, even if those pranks were only small. Adrianna and Charles seemed more trusting as days passed by. And Alaiza’s love for horses had grown once again. Arianna was still a rebel, but she seemed happier, and nicer. Things were finally beginning to look up for the Bellerose.
It seemed like a fresh new start, away from the horrors of the past, if only one knew what was to follow.
