On October 6th, 1992, in one of the most famous hospitals in New York, was born Davina Sterling as the second and middle child of Marianna and James Sterling. In a family with high hopes and expectations,Davina seemed to fit perfectly. From a very young age, she gave her best in whatever she did, always trying to live up to her parents’ expectations. She looked up to Rosalyn, her elder sister, as inspiration, knowing one day she’d make her parents proud just like her sister did.

Rosalyn and Davina were close right from the beginning. Her mother would share stories of how Rosalyn stayed up late at night, reading out books to a very young Davina. The two would play, watch cartoons, eat and do everything together. Soon the sisters were joined by their youngest sibling, Raina Sterling when Davina was still only a year and half old. The arrival of Raina completed the perfect family Davina was grateful for being born into. As the three sisters grew up together, they became the best of friends. They would help and guide each other through various parts of growing up and their love would only grow with each passing day as their bond further strengthened.

As school started, new hopes were built and the perfectionist in Davina awoke. She aimed to achieve perfection in everything she did, whether it was in her studies or her extra-curriculums such as painting and photography. Davina always wanted to be the best in everything and having both her sisters support and guide her helped her reach her high standards. Everyone at school envied the Sterling sisters, their will to stick together inspiring many.

On the other hand, the Initia community watched the Sterlings grow into beautiful and intelligent teenagers, awaiting patiently for their tribal tattoo to appear. Davina could only feel the excitement of being picked by an element fill her. She hoped and prayed that she would be marked soon. However, it took some time and two years passed by before the young Sterling could feel something change in herself.

It was a few weeks after she had turned fifteen and Davina was out in the woods with her camera when a sharp pain overtook her body. A stinging sensation left the teenager on her knees. She screamed in pain which was heard by her sisters hanging out not too far away. As they rushed to help Davina, they found a tribal tattoo appear on her lower back. The sisters were overjoyed, seeing Davina finally receive her element; Earth. Once the stinging stopped, they decided to test out her powers.

Davina started with a small plantlet that had broken out of the forest floor. She concentrated hard on it, watching the plantlet grow taller till it reached her calf. The Sterlings, excited about their discovery, rushed back home to inform the Initia Community of Davina’s element. Finally, the tribe was relieved, there was someone to continue the Sterling legacy amidst the war that had broken out between the Phoenixes and Initias in New York.

A few weeks later, Raina was claimed by her element; fire. However, as a few more weeks passed by, the sisters’ happiness was replaced with worry for the eldest sibling. Rosalyn had yet not shown any signs of being an Initia. Although they were aware that the gene was not 100% effective, Davina couldn’t accept the fact that her role model, now 19 years old, wouldn’t be the leader she was destined to be. She spent days and nights with Rosalyn, trying to find out reasons for the inactivity of her gene. She tried her best to make the eldest understand that maybe she was just late, but in the end she would be picked by an element soon.

However, soon never arrived and Rosalyn started drifting away from the family. While they weren’t very close to their parents, the sisters still maintained a healthy relationship with them, but that changed once Rosalyn closed herself up. Davina hated herself for being the first one to get the tribal tattoo. As unreasonable as that sounded, such was her love for her sister. She visited libraries, dug up every information she could get about Initias getting the tribal tattoo late, but she found nothing. This worried her further and in no time, she realized Rosalyn had completely shut herself from the family.

Davina hated her parents and the entire community for treating Rosalyn the way they did. Instead of making her feel better and assuring her that she would get her elements soon, they made sure that Rosalyn would never forget that she was different; that she could have had it all - being the leader of the tribe, power, money, influence - but she lost it, like it was never hers, to begin with.

Davina and Raina helplessly watched Rosalyn spiral off the rails, there was nothing they could do that would stop her from mixing with the bad crowd or shutting herself in her room for days. They tried talking to their parents but they didn’t seem to understand what Rosalyn was going through. Instead, they encouraged Davina to start training to be the next leader. Although she had always known that she was the second in line to the Initia leadership, Davina would have never thought of taking her sister’s place, so she argued week after week with her parents, refusing to take the place her role model, Rosalyn was supposed to take. Months had passed by and the Sterling family was breaking apart. No one talked much at dinner or watched the television together on Saturday nights. The only two members who still seemed close after all this were Davina and Raina.

One night Davina, awaken by the roaring thunder outside of their house, crept up to her sister’s room, only to find her not there. She quickly woke Raina up and the two searched the entire community, in the storm. Scared and vulnerable, the two returned home to inform their parents about Rosalyn’s departure and the entire family searched for her for weeks but found nothing. It seemed like Rosalyn had fallen off the face of the Earth.

This caused Davina and Raina to grow closer, finding comfort in each other as they promised to find their sister someday. Davina became less and less involved in school activities, her grades dropping from top scores to average. She tried to be strong, at least for her younger sister, but the thought of Rosalyn struggling with her life somewhere unknown broke her from the inside. her resentment towards her parents grew as she saw them casually move on from the incident that shattered the sisters. In their eyes, nothing seemed to matter more than the war, not even their own ‘human’ daughter.

It was a few years later when the war was at its peak, the families struggling to make it through each day as the attacks from the phoenixes grew in numbers. Davina helped the others in the community by training them along with her sister. The two tried their best to defend the tribe, but with every passing day, the task grew harder.

Finally one night, Davina was having dinner with her family and Raina’s boyfriend when they saw the whole Initia Community being consumed by phoenix fires. Scared, she ran away from the compound with her parents and Raina, watching in horror as the flames swallowed the entire compound. She wanted to help, but her father didn’t allow her to take a step anywhere near the compound before rushing inside. What followed could only be termed as one of the worst memories Davina would ever hold with her.

Her father never made it back out of the compound and her mother and her sister decided to flee with her. However, the phoenixes were now appearing in large numbers. Marianna decided to stay back and distract the phoenixes while the siblings fled and that was the last they heard from their mother.

Several weeks passed by as Davina and Raina, helpless, reached Chicago. It was here that they found an old newspaper about a girl from New York being struck by lightning after a boating accident in a town in South Carolina. Thinking of this as a sign, Davina didn’t hesitate for a minute before digging into the matter, finding out that it was really their sister who had spent five months in a coma.

Raina helped trace her location and the two soon arrived at Rosalyn’s doorstep. Although greeted with more curiosity than affection, Davina did not hold it against her; Rosalyn had, after all, gone through so much.
As the sisters reunited, Davina felt content again, knowing that she would never leave her sisters’. However, a new surprise was in store for them when Davina and Raina touched Rosalyn’s eyes.
A silver hue flashed from her eyes, its glow surprising Davina. She watched as a deep shade of gold flashed from Raina’s eyes. That was when Rosalyn explained to the two about her situation, how she was tapped by five elements she had never heard anyone use before.

Raina and Davina were overjoyed, their sister had finally gotten her elements and they were unique from others, just like she deserved. Rosalyn helped them gain control over their new elements and two years later, with a new element each after the comet struck, the three Sterling sisters would find themselves in a city called Evermore with 3 more Initias who were different like Rosalyn, to find their mother and a place where they would belong.

Davina settled in rather perfectly, Her three elements helping her along more than she would have thought possible. She strived to know the city's residents, ambassadors and its history to a tee, so Davina hit the books straight away, learning everything she could about the supernatural town and its many interesting and exotic residents.

When the dome fell over Evermore, uprooting the residents with panic and chaos, Davina set her mind to trying to figure it out. A small group of the more intellectual residents tested the dome, trying to understand it and if possible, trying to find out how to destroy it.
