Trigger Warning

Emmanuel was born Maachathi Peretz in Israel. Before his conception his parents had tried for years in vain to conceive a child. Despite his Father’s wealth, no matter how much money was spent on medical help, they were still unsuccessful. So it came as a happy surprise when Maachathi’s Mother was with child. Nevertheless, eight months passed since the date his parent’s assumed was the date of conception. It appeared the child would be premature, though after emerging into the world, it became apparent there was some confusion of the actual date of conception. Maachathi’s ‘Father’ immediately jumped to the worst of possibilities and after hours of shouting abuse, he finally derived a reluctant truth from the frightened woman. She’d claimed she was attacked, but Maachathi’s Father thought otherwise and with a truly Shakespearean wrath, he brutally killed his wife before attempting to drown the newborn baby. Fortunately, a servant left later than usual, but was halted by a brief- shortened, screech before a deafening silence. Not allowing curiosity to be shaken away, the servant rushed to where the commotion stemmed and stopped the cuckolded man from committing the gruesome deed.

His parents hadn’t given him such a cruelly isolating name; Maachathi meaning broken. However, after the fiasco, Maachathi was branded with this name at a Christian orphanage. Emmanuel from a young age exhibited many signs of intelligence, at 3 he was found devouring scripture. He did it to keep himself busy in a house where his potential seemed to be doomed to fade, yet when he finally arrived at thee poorly equipped schools, the child excelled in his studies. His memory far exceeded that of the staff who oversaw the household as Maachathi had memorised each and every scholar and figure in both the Old and New Testament, purely out of boredom. It was at this news that a missionary sent from headquarters in England to help with growing conflict, that they noticed Maachathi’s potential.

Upon his return to England, the missionary arranged for the child to be brought over and adopted by a pastor of a small parish on the outskirts of Cambridge. With far better facilities at his disposal, Maachathi, now Emmanuel, only increased his thirst for knowledge, far expanding his opportunities. However, it now wasn’t only academics that attracted the child, as he now grew an appreciation for the religion he’d learned so much of. Despite knowing every fact he could find, Emmanuel still learned a different understanding of Christianity as he grew up. Elsewhere, Emmanuel had an obvious hunger for physical exertion as he took part in football, rugby, karate, kickboxing, boxing, taekwondo and judo. All without ever completely tiring.

All was well with the teenager as after acing his A-Levels, he successfully got into the University of Cambridge. But as with most stories, all was about to change, Emmanuel found himself arriving home late from football training to his family waiting around the dining table with an unfamiliar guest. The teen thought nothing of this as his parent’s hospitality often allowed troubled drifters to spend a meal at the house. After dinner, Emmanuel went to sleep as usual. Weeks passed since the stranger left, and Emmanuel put him out of his thoughts. The next morning however, Emmanuel awoke in a panic as he didn’t recognise his surroundings and as he went to flee this strange, abandoned house he found himself blocked by the stranger. Emmanuel managed to overwhelm the man, testing a strength he’d never known himself to possess as he put use to his combat training. Unfortunately, Emmanuel became tripped up and pinned. As he struggled, Emmanuel was startled by thee man’s words as he described himself as his true Father, and the reason for the scars on his back. Something which had always troubled the intellect. Promising answers, Emmanuel was led back into the house where his Father explained his heritage.

Reborn as a Nephilim, Emmanuel agreed when his Father told him he must leave his family and go with his Father. The two continued his training as a Nephilim across Africa, where Emmanuel grew very fond of a sword he’d found.Instead of insisting they hunt for other supernatural beings his Father spoke of, Emmanuel convinced his Father to let him heal the many sick and impoverished people across the continent, while he and his Father dispatched creatures of the night. Six years later, Emmanuel’s Father lays dead after crossing the wrong warlord, and mostly following his Father’s wishes of not pursuing revenge and instead heading to the ‘dream’ city of Evermore in the United States. Emmanuel instead killed the beasts that tore his Father’s heart out and then proceeded to the city.

Now, months after his arrival, Emmanuel still hasn’t revealed his presence in the metropolis. Instead opting to collect details of the city’s inhabitants, and praying for guidance. About a week after his arrival, a great meteor struck and it morphed the Nephilim. Two sunning white wings sprouted at will from the thick scars on his back. And as others had realised, the Nephilim of the city possessed eternal youth. This signalled to the religious man that YHWH wished for the Nephilim to live forever, assisting humans and one day returning to the Heavens which their ancestors were once cast out of.
