Lucien was born to a fairly wealthy family in England in 1749 where his father was highly sought after by royals and people of high standing for his ship building industry. The boy was a bright child and lived a privileged life, being bred into his teen years to take on the family business when his father would pass on their legacy of an empire.

Things for the Davenports changed when his father wanted a greater ambition of bringing their company to the New World across the ocean. The need for ships was dire and he saw an opportunity that he couldn’t refuse, bringing the name Davenport to even greater renown. Despite the wishes of his mother to stay in England, the family moved to Boston in 1770 and prospered, gaining the recognition and wealth his father had dreamed of.

In that same year, what is known as the Boston Massacre quickly changed the dynamic of the country. Lucien’s father had wanted to remain loyal to England and knew it was in his best interest to do so with most of the money coming in from the British. Lucien wanted to do his part in helping defeat the colonial patriots and he joined the British troops as more soldiers from England crossed the ocean.

The first few years of being a soldier had been hard, but being of his wealthy station, Lucien quickly moved up in the ranks and became a trusted loyalist to the crown, often making decisions on the battlefields that would turn the favor to a victory. However, as the Hessians of Germany who were allied with Great Britain, showed their ruthlessness to the defeated patriot soldiers, unarmed citizens, and indigenous peoples, something in Lucien began to change.Soon Lucien found himself at a crossroads. He was torn between the duty he held as a loyalist to England and his father and being a sympathizer to the patriots. His decision was soon solidified when he was attacked on the road by patriots who had discovered him attempting to send a correspondence of battle plans between the British regiments. Lucien had barely escaped being caught and had lost consciousness in a ditch where he eluded death by the soldiers. When he awoke in a bed that was not his own, he was being taken care of by a nurse that helped the sick, injured, and dying for the colonists on the battlefield.

Her name was Alura and in the days while he recovered in her home, Lucien could not stop himself from falling in love with the outspoken and passionate woman who opposed the British rule. Lucien had spoken with General Washington and swore of his allegiance to the patriots, turning his back on his father and England and becoming one of his few trusted spies. Lucien was an integral part of the tide turning in the patriots’ favor. In the few years that he had kept this secret and double life, he’d continued to fool the British armies in his loyalty and married Alura without his parents knowing the truth. It hurt his heart to keep the truth from his family, but he knew he was on the right path.

One night while he slept in bed with his wife, the bedroom door burst open and a small group of loyalists came into the room with their bayonets aimed at them. The two were dragged out of their home and brought to their knees where he learned from the sergeant leading the group that his life as a spy had been discovered when a patriot was caught and tortured for information. Lucien pleaded for his wife’s life, knowing his own would soon be over, but there was no mercy shown as a Hessian drew his sword and slit her throat.

Lucien pulled his wife into his arms as she slowly died and clutched onto him while he cried. The Hessian turned to him next and raised the sword to strike him, but Lucien dodged the blow and pulled the gun on the man’s hip, firing the shot into his chest. The soldier fell dead and as Lucien turned to face the small band of loyalists, they fired their weapons at him.

Lucien woke in a darkness. It was cold and empty, save for the other people who seemed to be wandering about aimlessly, some not really knowing who they were or even where they were. He called out to his wife, but Alura was not among the others. Time seemed to stop in this place and he wasn’t sure how long he’d been there. It could’ve been hours or days. He never stopped looking for his wife among the others, but a sudden dread began to fill him as the events of what happened to him and Alura crept back into his mind. The panic swelled within Lucien and when a terrifying realization began to wash over him, a bright ball of light appeared.

The being, called an Aurazin, became a guide to Lucien and explained that he had died, along with his wife. It was hard for Lucien to accept this as truth and he demanded to see Alura. The Aurazin brought Lucien through the dark void and into the veil were he was soon reunited with his wife in a bittersweet reunion.

His transition into the veil was by no means easy, but through time he’d learned to accept the fate that was brought about to him and his wife despite the guilt he couldn’t help but feel in bringing about her death. The Aurazin in the veil had offered Lucien a new path in which he would become like them and help those lost souls in the void move into the veil as well as visit Earth to help the loved ones of those that had passed suddenly. He accepted the role and soon became one of the top ranking Aurazin, giving missions to others and calling them home to the veil once they were completed, but it was his role as a shepherd to fight off the voidlings and save more souls by bringing them to the veil which he had gained notoriety.

On a day like any other, Lucien was passing out missions to his fellow Aurazin to visit Earth when a sudden explosion ripped through all of the veil. He and the others were thrown to the ground and when he sat up, what could only be described as a tear through the realms appeared before them. Lucien cautiously approached the portal and knew he was staring at a city on Earth. He slowly reached out to touch the break in the realm when a sudden force pulled him through, along with many of his kind.

Many of the Aurazin fell to Earth and when Lucien awoke, they had landed in an unfamiliar wood. When he looked down at himself, he realized he was in his human form before his death. He and the others wandered until they came upon Evermore City which none had ever been to before. Confusion quickly spread among the Aurazin and Lucien closed his eyes and called out to the veil in some attempts to reconnect with their home, but there was nothing but silence in return.

Being that Lucien was the highest ranking Aurazin among the ones who had fallen, he hesitantly took on leadership and could only think of the Aspects on Earth who might know what had cast them from their home. Venetus had agreed to meet with Lucien, but the Aspect did not know the reason for the rip between worlds, though he had warned of a powerful threat that was inhabiting Evermore which couldn’t be a coincidence now that they too had arrived in the supernatural hub.

The days on Earth turned to months and with no word from the veil, Lucien and the other Aurazin, including the ones that had been on Earth before the fall, began to make their home in the shortgrass prairies outside of the city with the help of the Aspects. Many of his kind were scared and confused without their normal purpose to help humans and Lucien often found himself comforting the lost beings that now had free will. Some of the other Aurazin, much to his dismay, found their new independence liberating and thought their arrival on Earth to be a second chance at life. Lucien was hesitant on the idea, always believing that they would be called back to the veil, but as time continued on with no word from their home, his hope was beginning to dim. Most days he can be found pining over research and working with the Ailwards to find answers to their arrival and how he can bring his kind back to the veil.
