Luxor Black was always charming and good-looking. As a kid, when he got into trouble he could always find a way out by using his winning smile and street smarts. He was raised by a single mother on the Lower East Side of New York City, never knowing who his father was. When he tried to bring it up, his mother would change the subject or just say that he was a "good man". Luxor realized he would get no answers from his mother and vowed to find out who his father was later in life.

In his early teens, Luxor became hugely popular in school. He had a growth spurt and developed muscles and his devilishly handsome looks made him a big hit with the girls. Luxor also noticed that he was attracted to some guys too, but he never acted on his feelings because he was afraid of being judged and shunned by his friends. His reputation as a troublemaker grew as he played pranks on crabby teachers and broke all the rules, and he always found a way to get out of it.

He was careful to separate his home life from his rebellious social life. His mother thought he was the perfect kid because he got straight A's and always made it home before the streetlights came on. She worked two jobs to pay the bills and Luxor always made tea and gave her a foot massage when she came home from a long hard day. She told him all about her gossiping coworkers and her nasty bosses, and he listened adeptly and gave her advice when she asked for it. They were very close; Luxor would do anything and everything for her.

After high school graduation, Luxor decided it was time to find his father. He hired a private detective who found evidence that his father was living as a monk in the Tibetan Mountains. Luxor immediately packed his bags and lied to his mother and told her that he was going on a road trip across America with some friends before going to college. Little did his mother know that he hasn't even applied for college, even though he graduated at the top of his class. He simply didn't think college was for him.

That same evening he went to a travel agency downtown to buy plane tickets. On his way back it was starting to get dark so he decided to take a short cut through an alleyway. The wind blew across his face as he walked along and the vision of a man hiding behind a Dumpster with a knife flashed in Luxor's mind. He shook his head, thinking that he was just being silly, but when he kept walking a man jumped out from behind a Dumpster and tried to mug him. Reacting totally on instinct, Luxor threw out his hands and the wind ripped down the alley and slammed the man into the wall, knocking him out.

Luxor ran home, completely freaked out. His mother wasn't home yet so he took a shower and tried to calm down. But when he got out, he discovered a strange and beautiful tribal tattoo forming on his lower back. His mother barged into the bathroom at that moment, not knowing he was in there, and saw the tattoo and her face paled. "Just like your father," she had whispered.

Luxor demanded to know what she meant, but she wouldn't say. Frustrated and angry and more confused than ever, he grabbed his bags and stormed out of their house with his plane tickets. He took a cab straight to the airport, determined to find his father and get answers. When the plane landed he got instructions to the Tibetan temples where the monks lived from a handsome local, a young man with sun-bronzed skin and green-hazel eyes named Monsoon. Monsoon volunteered to take him there, as the way was tricky and dangerous, and there were no roads so they had to walk most of the way.

Along the way, Luxor and Monsoon fell in love. The week that it took them to get to the Tibetan temples was the best week of Luxor's life; Monsoon was his first male partner and his first true love. Finally, they reached the place where his father lived. Luxor found him in a garden and confronted him, full of anger, but his fathers gentle voice and warm eyes calmed him and he explained everything. That he was an Initia and that his father could control earth, too. He taught Luxor everything he knew and also helped him see images on the wind on purpose.

During that time, Luxor caught Monsoon cheating on him with an American tourist who was visiting the temple. Luxor was so angry he conjured a powerful galewind that scooped Monsoon up and threw him off the mountain, killing him. Luxor immediately regretted it and something inside him broke. He spent days crying and grieving Monsoon and hating himself. His father helped him learn to forgive himself, just like his father forgave himself for leaving Luxor's mother to seek spiritual enlightenment.

After a year, Luxor had learned everything he could about controlling =earth and all his other powers. He left Tibet and traveled Europe, where he slept with many people for pleasure, but he didn't love any of them. He fell in love with a female professor named Bridgette who encouraged him to attend Oxford College, which he did. For the first time in his life he wasn't the smartest person in the room and he loved it. He loved being challenged mentally and being around so many intelligent people. Bridgette broke up with him in less than a month because she was moving to Africa and she didn't want a long distance boyfriend. Luxor was devastated and he buried himself in his schoolwork to keep from being depressed.

He supported himself by finding criminals and missing people using his ability to see images on the wind. Normal people didn't know how he did it, they just thought he was a brilliant detective. Luxor charged less for poor people who needed to find lost children and the such, but charged extra for snobbish rich folk who just wanted to find a lost pet or a missing gold fork. In fifteen years he graduated with many honors and degrees, and a huge fortune in the bank from his side work.

At last, Luxor made the decision to move to Evermore, the city his father had told him about where other supernatural beings lived. He approached the Initia tribe hesitantly, afraid that they might not want an outside, but some of the older members remembered his father and welcomed him like a distant family member. They tested his abilities and he learned that he was very gifted and powerful. He also opened up about his sexuality, but hasn't dated anyone since Bridgette. When he was ready, he called his mother to let her know he was OK.

Only a few weeks after joining his kind, the Massacre happened. Luxor didn't know anyone that  well in Evermore City but every death hurt him like they were his lifelong friends. The following hostility between the supernatural races and the random human deaths upset Luxor and made him ultras protective of his kind. He didn't know who orchestrated the Massacre, but he damn sure wouldn't let any more Initia get hurt.
