800 is a long life to live, a long life to remember, Mikaere does not remember much about his childhood, He knows that by the age of 7 he formed the distinctive red veins indicating he was a Phoenix like his parents before him. Lucky for him he was accepted and loved his whole life by his parents when the Phoenix was old enough to venture out on his own to live his life his parents let him do just that.
Mikaere was a responsible young man always obeying the laws, doing his best to stay out of the way of others, not to start unnecessary altercations with Initia (Mostly he knew to avoid them) for Mikaere this was not so easy a task not once he met Aaria(But more on her later) Mikaere joined what nowadays would be known as the armed forces. He was a soldier he fought to protect the lives of those who could not fight for themselves, he of course had the advantage of fire on his side. He also had the advantage that if he died he would be reborn again.
Which had many times over his long life, Mikaere had taken many lovers over the years but never wanting to reproduce. He did not think he was ready to have a child knowing that any child he had had the potential of being like he was. Mika did not want any child of his to be born in a world where it was full of hate, and war, and just violence in general. He knew that he would live a very long life and he was positive that there would come a time when the world would be a safer place for his children.
The year 1824 a few of Mika’s friends decided they wanted to drag him to a house party one he had not wanted to go to or that he had not planned to attend, yet here he was dressed in his nice pants and a button up shirt, along with a suit jacket. The party was a small gathering a house party for a pair of newlyweds, each guest bringing an item for the new couple.
Mikaere had purchased the finest set of plates and bowls for the couple using his solider’s wages, though truth was he still had a nice amount of money stashed away. The 605 year old Phoenix was wise beyond all years and never acted more than he was. This is where Mikaere met Aaria a young beautiful woman, the party came and went as did the following weeks Mikaere calling upon the young woman courting her in every way possible.
The more the two got to know one another the deeper he fell in love with her, one night while out on a stroll in the park Aaria revealed to him she was an Initia and the daughter to the local Leader of their tribe. The man’s heart nearly shattered he couldn’t possibly love an Initia not after all the wars he had seen and experienced between their kinds. Something about her just dragged him in and there was no way he could stop seeing her, a few more years passed by and the Phoenix asked for her hand in marriage. Aaria family denied the request knowing he was a Phoenix and if she was to marry him she was exiling herself from all she had ever known.
The young fire Initia didn’t care she loved Mikaere and wanted to be with him, with or without the support of her family. The two ran off in the middle of the night and were married the following day, they spent most of their lives running trying to find the perfect location where they could settle down away from her family, and the threat of anyone trying to tear them apart.
Mikaere was more in love with each passing day Aaria was everything to him and more, there wasn’t anything he would not have done for her. She made him want to be a better person a prouder person, he felt as though he was worthy of being loved and that the needless war between the Initia and the Phoenix’s was beyond pointless. Their love may have been forbidden but he could not picture a life without her.
Before long his wife was pregnant with their daughter Avonie and his heart once more felt as though it may explode with how overjoyed he was. She was born on February 14 1964 Life couldn’t have been anymore perfect for them the three of them lived well off the grid or so they thought.
When Avonie was 5 years old the family had planned to take a trip in the Fall deciding to live on a boat and travel to as many places as they possibly could. The hope was to allow Avonie to experience the large wide vast world that Mikaere himself had come to know and love. He had seen the many changes over the years and was fascinated by how civilizations had learned to adapt. The 3 lived on the boat for a few months when everything changed.
The wind on this particular day seemed colder than usual Mik called out to Avonie to go below deck where she could stay warm, his wife was laughing and chasing after their little bundle of joy trying to get her to head downstairs even though the small child refused. Mik laughed as he watched the two moving over to capture his daughter up in his arms. Just as he scooped her up and covered her in kisses the boat jolted nearly knocking the phoenix overboard sprouting his large crimson red wings he righted himself. Looking to his left his wife was being grabbed and hauled away by two large men, Mika put down Avonie yelling for her to get below deck. Her little legs ran as fast as she could possibly muster. Mikaere darted in the direction of his wife using his fire ability to throw the men over board, wrapping his arms around her waist. He pulled her close “You are safe you both are” He whispered to his wife.
A loud bang rang out through the air the ringing in Mik’s ears nearly disoriented the man, it felt as though all air had been sucked from his lungs. His grip on his wife seemed weaker, his dark brown optics looked into the face of his love as her eyes rolled back and she went limp in his embrace. ‘No,’ Mik thought as the boat jolted again and Mikaere and Aaria fell into the icy cold water below. Mik tried to hold onto his wife but the string ocean current swept her out of his grasp and that was when Mik realized the red blood in the water. Even after his wife’s body had gotten far away the red still pooled around him, Mik fought to swim to the surface but at this point he didn’t know which was way up or down.
His chest hurt, his heart was slowing down everything seemed so so cold, Mik looked down to find the source of the bleeding was himself. Mikaere had been shot through his back narrowly missing his heart, the bullet exited through him and into his wife’s heart killing her instantly. Mik lay his hand over the wound on his chest as he sank deeper into the ocean, before his heart came to a near stop. The pain was like nothing Mikaere had ever experienced in his life, after what felt like an eternity Mik woke and sprang up out of the water. Landing on the deck of what remained of the wreckage of his families boat “VIVI!” He yelled storming down the steps throwing objects out of his way searching for his daughter.
To no avail she was gone, his wife was dead, his daughter was missing and his wounds had healed, he couldn’t feel the warmth of the cabin everything felt dim and bleak. Mik was still weak from the entire ordeal and as the tears slipped down his cheeks the large man fell onto the cabin floor unconscious allowing his body to heal. When Mikaere woke he was in a strange room, he shot up and looked around calling out for his wife and daughter forgetting in the moment they were not with him. A dark haired woman entered the room asking him to remain calm.
“Where are they?” What have you done with them! Where is my family” The man bellowed as the woman went to touch him to calm him down Mik reacted with his training grabbing her and flipping her to the ground as Ice shot from his hands to hold her in place. Mikaere jumped back and tripped over his own feet and fell to the ground. The woman broke free of the ice easily and rose explaining that her name was Anivia and that she was a Niveis, she went on to explain what that was and what he was now. She also explained that there was no sign of his child, they did however find his wife’s body and were waiting for him to wake to have a funeral service for her.
After Mikaere was back on his feet and got the hang of being what he was now, he and Anivia became close she offered to help him find his daughter. She herself was a mother and that only strengthened the bond between the two, Mik vowed his loyalty to her if she promised to help him find his child. 45 years went by with no sign of his child, Mik was starting to lose hope of finding her when one of Anivia’s scouts sent word that they had encountered a Phoenix woman who looked very much like the photos Mikaere had of his late wife.
The new found hope fuelled Mik’s desire to find the young woman, he would stop at nothing to find his daughter. He also wanted to make his late Wife’s tribe pay for taking both of his girls from him, he was usually a man of honor but this one subject was one he would gladly tarnish his good name for.
Over the last 50 years Mikaere had quickly scaled the ranks within the tribe earning his place as the head Trainer from his vast knowledge of battles and combat forms. He helped teach new Niveis how to use and harness their abilities and learn to fight to protect themselves. He lives among the Tribe and often goes on lengthy missions in search of his child hoping to one day find her.
