Nerina Arquitius was born into a loving home, the only child of Alexander and Alexia Arquitius, both of which were members of the Initia tribe. She grew up watching and learning the ways of her tribe. At the young age of 7, the traces of a light blue tattoo started to make an appearance on her back. With that she was able to begin her training, quickly excelling in her control over the element of water. Innocent in her young age, she was unaware that the more she surpassed others her age in her control over water, the more negative attention was drawn to her.

As Nerina grew older, it became clear to her that there was something different about herself. The tattoo on her back only continued to spread, and grow along with her ability to manipulate water. Both learning and witnessing the past banishment of others in her tribe, she kept her suspicions from her parents, for fear that she would meet the same fate. Regardless, she did her best to blend in with her peers, even going as far as starting to date another Initia.

Jordan and Nerina became close quickly, from training together, to finding any other reason to spend their free time with each other. It wasn't long before they fell in love. There had even become talk of marriage and starting a family in the future. One fateful night, Jordan surprised Nerina, taking her out into a clearing near the waterfalls, it had seemed to become their spot over the last year of their dating. The scenery was beautiful, lights strung from the trees, a blanket laid out with a picnic basket, and when Nerina had finally finished taking in the scenery, she turned to find Jordan on his knees, holding a ring in front of her. It was all perfect, too perfect, until the sound of thunder filled the air.

Droplets of rain began to cascade over the couple, washing away at the biggest secret that had been kept between them. After only a few seconds of the constant downpour of rain, Nerina felt the hidden wing shaped tattoo on her back, come to life. As the current of water that made up her wings lifted from her back,she could see the look of disgust and fear in Jordan's eyes. She tried to explain, to beg him to keep it to himself, but no amount of words were enough to keep him from running from her, straight to the leaders of the Initia.

Her life and her heart were shattered with one fail swoop, as she was banished from her home. Shunned by her parents, nearly fiance, and everyone she'd ever known and forced to survive out on her own. Uncertain of where to turn she began travelling, trying her best to blend in. A year later and she's found herself in Evermore city, and attempting to make a life for herself, even going as far as trying to find a job to appear more human to those around her.
