As she stared out over the counter of her store, she was hit with a sense of disbelief. This was her store, she had done this, she had worked for months to make enough stock to fill the place, she had gone and gotten the loan she needed for the retail, she had designed the layout and placed each item carefully to give it the attention it deserved and here at the end of her first week running her new store she was feeling good. Much to her luck, because of the area and the time of year she had tracked a lot of foot traffic into her little place over the past few days and she had made a few big sales too. It was a great encouragement to finish the rest of the garments she had started over the past day or so, she thought as she turned out the lights for today and locked up the front door.
It was a decent trek between the shop and the Celestial castle but she didn’t mind, the star was used to spending her time alone so she never really cared much for the 30-minute walk. It was chilly tonight though and she was glad she had her coat so that she wouldn’t end up with a cold, you’d think after everything a Celestial is weak to they’d at least be given resistance to illness but that was sadly not the case. She had been walking about 10 minutes when she felt the urge to look over her shoulder, she turned to face behind her but nothing was there. If there was anything she had learned from her years spent on the run it was how to know when someone was following her though so she quickened her pace trying to head back towards the more well-lit roads.
She had been right however, someone had been tailing her. She wasn’t exactly sure what they wanted with her and she didn’t intend on asking, the moment the male stepped out from the shadows and grabbed her shoulder was the moment she went into action. The Wayfinder might seem rational and sweet most of the time but this male would quickly learn that her survival instincts were sharp and would fight any blow he decided to throw at her. “What do you want from me?” she yelled at him while blocking a blow he tried to make to her stomach, the guy gave a slimy grin “What everyone wants from a fallen star” he responded smugly which made her blood boil, she was caught off for a moment when he pulled out a blade and slashed across her hand causing it to bleed immediately and her to cry out in pain. She knew at this point her emotions were getting high, meaning that her natural Celestial glow was brightening but she wasn’t going to lose to some street thug with a knife.
She looked around for a moment making sure that no one was actually around before she drew her Celestial energy to her and in one flash of light so fast that most would never even see it, she sent him flying across the way and he crash-landed against a dumpster. Her attention turned to her hand which was still bleeding pretty badly was she watched him make a run for it, it wasn’t like there was anywhere here to catch him and she didn’t have any way to apprehend him so instead she focused on trying to remember his features while she fell to a crouch, checking the wound to make sure it was clean and looking around for somewhere she could go to get it cleaned up. Her breathing started to quicken as she looked down at the cut, she knew it wasn’t a big deal but it had been so long since she was targeted and attacked that she really thought she was past it and this had been a very sudden reminder that a Celestial was never truly safe in the city. The more she tried to get control of her breathing the more panicky and shaky it got and the moment she heard footsteps coming towards her she stood up, getting on her guard and ready to blast the guy who had no doubt come back for more.

"Point taken" she quipped humorously, she totally forgot waterproof mascara exists because she had no idea what to think in order to cheer Ophelia up. She didn't necessarily have to cheer her up but what kind of gal would she be if she would stare at her like that without doing anything to help mentally, right? She was a bit confused for a while when she attempted to ask her something but stopped midway, and was only able to nod in response when she finally finished her question, "Some call me Celia. But my closest people like to call me endearingly as Ce. At least, when they weren't being sarcastic half the time" she grinned. When she told her to call her Phe, Celia tried to test it on her tongue again, "Phe it is then. Though I have to say Ophelia's a nice name." It sounded so classy and sophisticated, Celia actually had an eye and ear for those things so it wasn't surprising to see her fawning over them.
She couldn't help but snicker at her remark when she called her out on her inability to lie, "So you have heard about me, I assume? I mean, how else were you able to figure out my slightly eh nickname there?" Don't get her wrong, Master of Persuasion is a good title. "I don't necessarily lie all the time. It's so exhausting. But there were times when I have be a little extra persuasive and there were times when I have to twist the truth. But aside from that, I sugarcoat it. Wouldn't want anyone to have a heart attack, you know?" Admittedly, all of that was always fun to do. Following the pout she saw on her, Celia shook her head, thinking she was cute. "Take your time, there's no need to rush making a decision. It's always wise to thread it slowly." That wasn't her, of course. Cecilia Laterza was many things but patient is not her strongest suit. But she wasn't impatient either. Not enough to lash out and tear them to pieces.
The talk about blood consumption had her shrugging with a smile, "You can say it, you know. By too far you mean addiction. It's okay. I've been there, done that. Yet I'm still here." Bring hooked on bloodlust wasn't something she was proud of but being able to get back on her two feet after a painful rehabilitation? That, she is very much proud of. "You'd think after all that fiasco, I'd settle on blood bags. Unfortunately, we didn't have blood bags, centuries ago. And even now, I feel bad doing business in that when I dabble in the medical world. Feels a bit hypocritical. So what I do is wait for someone to come and offer themselves to me and in return, I give them something they want." And people who offer themselves to Valkyr only wanted one thing in return; the pleasure that comes from the bite. "It's not as disgusting as it sounds. It's like regular people having one night stands. No strings attached, no groupies." Well, she didn't have those groupies for as long as she lived.
She nodded understandingly, "I get you. It's your neurons. Your sense receptor sends you a message, and you feel it every time you stare. It's almost like an automatic response. The only way for you to avoid feeling like that is for you" she tilted her chin up again but this time made sure the Celestial was staring at her, and god did she have gorgeous eyes, "To forget about it. To focus on something else. Distraction, if you may. Your mind can be very powerful in influencing your emotions, the stab wound you feel? It's all in here" she murmured and tapped against her temple softly. When the question was redirected back at her, Celia only chuckled and pretended to think, "1783" she exclaimed coolly, as if it was 18. "I was born 1783 years ago in Rome, Italy." It felt so long ago. "A dressmaker in progress, damn. Would never have thought. Now I actually want to see what you can do with materials I'd give." Curiosity piqued, checked.
"Though, admittedly, I love the university life because of the sororities. I'm a bit of a… get around girl." If by getting around, she means sleeping with every sorority girl, that's about it.
Ophelia had a gentle smile on her face as she listened to the way that Celia talked about her name and what people called her “And which would you like me to call you?” she asked with slightly widened eyes because she wasn’t sure how to read that specific sentence and Ophelia was very proper with the way she wanted to address people. “Thank you” she spoke softly when she complimented her name back “I think it suits me but you have to admit it’s a bit of a mouthful to be calling out” she ran a hand through her hair, she kinda saw her full name as the mysterious name people would hear when they heard about the Celestials or her as an ambassador but she liked the shorter version of her name when she was around friends and perhaps a part of her hoped that Celia might become a friend to her.
She watched her for a moment seeing the way she didn’t seem all that surprised that she knew her reputation “Well Gideon is my Volakiri so I learned a little” she spoke softly and shrugged slightly, the smile on her face said she wasn’t judging though, from the way Gideon’s memories seemed to see it, Celia was an integral part of the Valkyr community “So it’s more about telling people what they want to hear and leaving out the parts they don’t huh?” it really was interesting to her the way that she seemed to know people so well, Ophelia spent most of her life avoiding people so she wouldn’t even know where to start “So how do you figure out what people want?” was she really that good at reading people? Cause Phe had no idea what could be used to bribe herself even.
She gave an apologetic smile when she spoke about addiction “Sorry, I was taught to be polite so I tend to...sugarcoat I guess you would call it” but Celia was very direct with her, which she supposed meant she was being real with her considering that she had already confirmed she told people what they wanted to hear. She pressed her lips together “That must have been tough, especially because it’s not like a drug in the sense you can give it up, you need it to live” she considered it for a moment though she widened her eyes a little as she suggested that she gave people what they wanted after feeding from them “Yeah I imagine that could uh….” she definitely wasn’t bold with her own language choices that was for sure “Escalate very quickly” meaning that people would get high on the pleasure and things would continue from there “Well at least that takes the complicated dating part out, I swear I’ve experienced enough of that for a lifetime” she admitted with a slightly sad smile, love hadn’t been kind to her.
Ophelia’s lips parted for a moment in surprise when Celia explained the reasons why she had problems with blood, or rather herself bleeding but she didn’t expect her to lift her gaze to look into her eyes, Phe stared back at her for a moment, noticing how striking her dark hues could be when they were staring right you “Right….a distraction, that makes sense” it was also the first thing she had wanted after everything that happened tonight. Her expression wavered and she realized how intensely she had been staring back at Celia the moment she tapped her temple though which made the Celestial clear her throat as she averted it elsewhere. “So you’ve seen pretty much every era come and go” she spoke it softly because she thought that 400 or so years felt like a lot but Celia had lived over 4 times that long.
“Well that would entirely depend on what materials you have but I’d be more than happy to make you something” she spoke softly, her eyes naturally glancing over Celia’s body to take in her body shape, normally she would design a dress which best accentuated a person’s natural body type but she had to note there was certainly a lot to work with when it came to the Valkyr. “Oh” she spoke softly when she implied that she liked going to sororities because she liked to sleep with many of them “Experimenting types are your thing then?” her blush showed it was clear Phe wasn’t typically so open with talking about these kinds of things.
She found it so cute on how considerate Ophelia was being, going this far of a measure just to make her feel equally as comfortable while conversing, she wouldn't mind having to pronounce the names even if she said it would be a mouthful, but here she was, insisting, "You can call me Ce. I think only one ever called me that comfortably and I want you to feel comfortable too while addressing me." Yeon was the only one who actually calls her Ce and knowing how significant he is to her life, it's safe to say she's also taken a liking to a certain Celestial. "True, a bit mouthful but beautiful nonetheless. I believe name serves you that much power and if you allow others to call you by nicknames, you're giving the same power to them. Thank you for entrusting me with calling you by something more casual." Either way, Celia wanted to give her thanks.
"Ah… right, how could I forget that you're his Volakiri" she chuckled, the Valkyr counterpart of their bond could be unruly at times, unpredictable is their middle name and she wondered if the stars ever found it bothersome. "Mhmm, some parts aren't necessary to deliver the message." When asked if she figures out what people want, Cecilia pursed her lips and shrugged absentmindedly, "I'm not the master of reading people, I don't have telepathy. But, sometimes people give out their deepest desires when you look into their eyes while working your way to them. Those people would often disclose that part and I'll cater to it." However, the brunette tried not to read too much into Phe, simply because she doesn't want to intrude and her eyes can be quite captivating.
The Celestial trying to word her phrases without sounding crude had caused the Valkyr to chuckle in response, "You're so cute when you're trying to be considerate like this. Yes, Phe, when you get bitten by a Valkyr, things can escalate quite... Fast." Pay her no mind, seeing a flustered Ophelia is by far, the highlight of her day. "I don't date, I find it to be time consuming but that doesn't stop me from seeking out… some fun. Don't let a few bad apples stop you, though. Life is more than just your past." She had to admit, Ophelia Dreyvalian is one very attractive woman, and for someone who's had her fair share of ladies and gents, despite preferring the first more, Celia knows a lady when she sees one. And Phe is very prim and proper. It does made her wonder if she'll be seen outside her element next too. "Mhmm, it could be tedious. But… there were some interesting parts. I was able to witness a lot of ends and starts."
The idea of the Celestial making her a dress did particularly appeal to her as she bit her bottom lip in response to Phe taking in her physical stature, "I'll bring you them then. The finest material you need, just let me know. I don't particularly know my way around materials so you're gonna have to help me with that." The blush had certainly set her off when she chuckled and smirked at the dark-haired beauty, "You could say it like that. But as far as preferential matter goes, the girls make a better company than men." The thrill was so much better in her opinion, and they wouldn't exactly be caught in a sorority filled with girls, no? "You must forgive me for my… wordings, I feel so much more comfortable being honest when I'm with a friend." Once she was sure the wound wouldn't be bleeding anymore, she unrolled a bandage from the first aid kit found underneath the sink and wrapped it slowly around her hand, "When you get back home, you should clean it and bandage it again. Try not to strain this hand for a few days."
Her eyes widened a little when she said she could call her Ce because of the way she said after that only one other person called her that, she wasn’t sure how to feel about it but she decided to feel flattered because that meant she liked her enough to feel comfortable with her “Ce it is then” she responded with a nod of her head, smiling slightly at the Valkyr while she did so. The way Cecilia rationalized her thoughts was definitely something Phe could resonate with, truthfully she enjoyed being around well-spoken people who knew how to get their opinions and thoughts across and while Phe could be more choice with the words she used, she was much the same way in that she didn’t hold back her thoughts “I like having nicknames, they make me feel special” she admitted with a soft laugh “Especially ones that people have randomly come up with over the years” she liked endearment from her friends she supposed.
The Wayfinder chuckled under her breath when Celia said she forgot about her being Gideon’s Volakiri “Sometimes I wish I could forget” she teased with a laugh “Not because of anything to do with Gideon specifically but the whole memory sharing and lending thing is seriously affecting my sleep” she nodded slightly, she knew it would calm down with time though and she wasn’t complaining, there was a lot of benefits to their bond. Including her and Ce being able to be in the same room without feeling weak to one another. She nodded carefully as Celia explained the way she went about learning what others wanted “I suppose in some cases it can’t be too hard to guess, most people’s wants probably go down the same routes” sex and money came to mind, along with power in some cases, just had to figure out which they wanted the most “I’d hazard a guess that you have a preferred method of persuasion too” an attractive quite boldly bisexual woman would be quite a challenge to resist she was sure.
She blushed softly, slightly flustered when Celia called her cute for talking around the topics she was mentioning, she just wasn’t one for saying the words she supposed, though it seemed her explanation was delivered to the dark-haired Valkyr just fine “I’m always considerate” she commented in a soft voice clearly a little embarrassed by the topic at hand. She tilted her head curiously when Ce explained her reasons for not dating and choosing one night stands instead, she couldn’t say she understood because she had always been the type to find herself in relationships but perhaps she could see how it might be easier “I know that, but right now I don’t have the patience to try and seal over those particular cracks” perhaps in time after she was sure her people were safe and able to freely live their lives things would be different but that was how she felt right now “What is the most interesting event you got to witness?” she asked curiously, she missed most of history because she was too focused on building her colony or tracking down more stars but surely Celia must have seen something of note in all her time.
Phe didn’t even notice Ce’s reaction to her staring and taking in her build, she definitely had so many features which could work in her favor, she was tall which meant she had long legs which would work well with a shorter skirt but then Celia seemed to focus her outfit on her chest if her current outfit was anything to go by “Okay it’s a deal” she responded as she cleared her throat and brought her gaze to meet her eyes “I think your complexion would suit a deep red or a black best” she spoke softly imagining how the color would bring out her features. She raised her gaze when Celia said girls made better bed company than men “I find it hard to imagine someone being all that choosy with such a thing” she admitted softly implying she was curious to know her reasons why. She smiled when Celia apologized for her wording “By all means, I prefer people who know how to speak their mind, we’re sorely lacking honesty nowadays” she shrugged slightly.
She glanced down at the bandage she had placed on her hand and nodded at her instructions “Okay, thank you for patching me up doc” she responded in an attempt to make a cute joke before smiling softly “Are you hungry? The least I could do is buy you dinner as a thanks for this” she waved her bandaged hand through the air slightly “And the good company” she added to the end, perhaps she did want to spend a little longer talking to her, she seemed like such an interesting person.
She didn't expect to smile widely when Phe finally called her Ce, well, it did sound vastly different when it comes out of the Celestial's mouth. But then again, comparing Phe to Yeon, two very different people, is it really logical? "Nicknames make you feel special? Have you had many throughout the years?" At the moment, Ce could only imagine someone calling her Ophelia or Phe. Perhaps, there were more. They did just make their acquaintance today, after all. "So if I were to come up with a new nickname later, it'll be okay?" It was just a thought. She wasn't going to do it. Right? Volakiri bonds are not easy to pass by, especially for those who's never had one their entire life. Which she could say the same for the rest of the Celestial colony here in Evermore, with the exception of her own; Atticus, and that was only because the two of them had went way back, dated to almost a millennium ago.
"It can get pretty confusing and complicated, I'd say Gideon is not all too used to it either. It's a new thing for both sides, so don't worry, once you get used to it, it'll be so much easier to get by it. I remember how I felt so out of the loop centuries ago when I first enacted my bond… it was the first time a Valkyr had ever done it." Technically, Cecilia was the first Valkyr to enact the bond as well as Atticus being the first Celestial to receive that kind of bond. The two of them searched day and night for it because they couldn't stay together without hurting each other then. "Let's put it this way, without this bond, you and I can't be in the same room going all smiley and whatnot, right?" she jested teasingly, "I don't know about you but I am enjoying our company very much."
She bit her lip and grinned when Phe pointed out that she had a preferred method to use when it comes down to persuasion, "That I have… it gets handy. I could swing both ways, and I can try to make their… deep end desires come true. Whether it was carnal lust or… the other." But she's never met someone she couldn't seduce before, strangely enough. Perhaps, she does have a bit of luck on her side then. "But, I can be very persuasive into making them give in." That's one way to phrase it. When asked what was the most interesting event she's ever witnessed over the years, Celia pursed her lips and pondered for a moment, "You can't possibly choose only one. I don't know where to begin but… one of them would be when the entire kingdom fell because the King was found to have an illicit relationship with his own sister even when both are married. It was meant to be something a little bribe couldn't fix but you'd be very surprised on how easily it is to get a man talking when you're batting your eyelashes at him, especially drunken oafs at a tavern who couldn't say no to a woman."
Did she have a hand in doing that? Maybe. It was fun because the King was very cruel. "I don't know about you but I call that interesting." The entire time she caught Phe's eyes wandering over her silhouette had the Valkyr smirking because she does like being the center of attention, especially when it's from a rather attractive female. "Well, look at you, off to a good start already, my favorite color is indeed red, black is a close second." The Italian female shrugged casually when Phe expressed her confusion in bed preferences, "I've lived a long life, Phe. Sometimes it's best to make sure your life isn't as dull to keep you sane. Does opting to sleep with a handful of sororities rather than bother myself with men who would rather have me bow down makes me the overly choosy person? Perhaps. But then again, it's no fun if you don't indulge yourself. Why do so prefer women? Because they're beautiful in every other way, they take care of themselves and wish to be cared for, appreciated by someone, everytime they ask you for something, you just want to fulfill it."
Maybe she's a sucker for them, but then again, she is Cecilia. "Dinner sounds good. Only because you've proven to be rather an interesting person and I look forward to knowing you better."
The raven-haired Wayfinder shrugged her shoulders slightly when she said nicknames made her feel special “Well it’s nice to know you’re important enough to someone that they thought of something special to call you right?” she smiled shyly at her and shrugged “Not too many, most people call me Phe or Wayfinder” she nodded slightly “I had a friend who used to call me Astrum before, that was a pretty name” she ran a hand through her hair and smiled, she wasn’t that great at thinking of nicknames for others though, she always wondered if it would feel weird to the other person which is why she asked Ce to clarify what she likes to be called “Oh definitely, I’d like that” she responded honestly when Celia asked if she could think of a nickname of her own for her, though that now made the Wayfinder try to think of one for her.
She nodded slightly “Believe me I’m not complaining I’m just figuring it all out right now, I guess you could say” she smiled softly, she had wanted the bond and been the one to ask for it so there was no doubt in her mind, it was just an experience actually going through it and figuring out what it meant for her life now “It was kinda what I expected and then also kinda not if that makes any logical sense at all” she guessed the way she experienced it personally was the part which she hadn’t really know how to expect, how did you actually prepare for the reality of sharing some of your headspace with someone else after all? “That must have been kinda crazy for you right? Did you even know what you’d agreed to before it happened?” she was curious to know that experience and even more interested in the relationship she kept with Atticus. When she said the bond allowed them to be in the same room and comfortable with one another she smiled “Yeah, that has definitely been one of the perks, not feeling completely drained by your kind’s presence” she nodded slightly, she was enjoying Celia’s company too, she could definitely see them being friends “Definitely, it’s not every day someone helps you after you get attacked by a hunter after all” she laughed, what a crazy life she led.
It was interesting to her, not just hearing about the ways Celia did what she did but also seeing the way she was quite candid and open with the things she did and how, somehow she had this image before of her being quite self-contained and while confident, perhaps more of a surface than an actual trait. But that was proved wrong in the short time she had got to know her so far, she really was that confident, confident enough that she didn’t even mind sharing her trade secrets with Ophelia “So what you’re saying is that you’re used to getting everything you want?” she commented it in a slightly playful tone, that must be quite the interesting life to lead, that was for sure. Hearing her talk about the parts of history she was there for, Ophelia pressed her lips together when she mentioned an entire kingdom falling over secrets which the Valkyr implied she uncovered “Through history, women have been generally put down and treated as the lesser gender but that never seemed to stop you huh?” it was incredibly admirable, to see someone who took a bad system and society and still managed to thrive, god help the person who tried to come between Cecilia and the things she wanted.
“Definitely interesting, though it definitely seems like it has more personal involvement in it than you’re letting on” she grinned slightly as she looked back at her. She noticed the way the other woman seemed very confident with her body, and rightly so given how naturally beautiful she was, anyone would have to be blind not to notice but the way she dressed definitely accentuated those features, Ce gave the impression she enjoying people looking at her. “Oh” she spoke softly, smiling when she said red and black were her favorite colors “Not all that surprising though, I think the deep but striking colors would suit you and your style” he nodded thoughtfully. She had to admit she was a little embarrassed to ask someone about their tendencies when it came to who they bedded but she reminded herself it was Ce who had brought the topic up in the first place “Sounds like you have quite the experience” though she did resonate with the expectation of men to bow down, not just in a bedroom sense but in a general world sense and she was right in saying women were beautiful and took good care of themselves. It did seem liberating in some way to ‘indulge yourself’ as she put it. “I’d ask how you get quite so many people interested in all of that but” she lifted her gaze to trail over her “It’s obvious” she responded with a nod of her head.
“Okay dinner it is then” she smiled and nodded her head before heading out of the bathroom with Celia following, she went over to the table and requested a quiet table for two which led to them being seated in the corner, with low-lit lights and not many people around. Phe took a seat opposite Ce and smiled “I hadn’t actually realized quite how hungry I was until I smelled the kitchen as we walked past” she commented with a laugh as she picked up the menu and nudged one over the table towards Celia.
"You're right, it's nice to know you mean a lot to someone else. The significance will never die out." That's why she loves being called other than Cecilia. She's never told anyone that before and it was clear it may never happen. But who knows if she feels a change of heart. "I imagine being called Wayfinder sounded weird, it feels so serious and dull. Phe, on the other hand, sounds very sweet." The name Astrum made her grin, "Astrum as in… Latin? The constellation... That's actually very nice." Very thoughtful too. "I think someone gave me a nickname before aside from my name… but I can't remember, it felt so long ago" Cecilia never forget things easily so it must've been hard for her to keep it. All she has at the moment was Fifi, "Fifi" she murmured faintly and chuckled because it sounded way too cute.
"It's not easy to figure out things at first stroke so don't worry, you'll get there someday." Volakiri didn't come easy, not even for Cecilia, who had to bury her head in books and travel elsewhere, "Kinda. I wanted to protect him. But then again, I also thought he was another chance of love. I thought with that bond we'll be fine… obviously, things weren't supposed to be that easy, I forgot how much the world despised giving easy things." She still couldn't forget how she almost endangered his life; the life she swore to protect. "Everyone should help when they see someone in need of it" she shook her head because she was slightly disappointed by how far humanity was long forgotten by some. She never found the reason to limit her wording, the Valkyr had her time being free with her words and that was how things are going to be still.
There were selectable times when she had to keep it to herself in order to make sure her plan goes along, but aside from that, she didn't see the need to suppress her truth. "Am I used to getting what I want? Maybe you could put it that way but I only got them because I won't take no for a definite answer. Just because I fell today, doesn't mean I won't get up tomorrow stronger than ever. If you want something, you should never even think of giving up" Did she mean it as more of an advice for Ophelia? It sure sounded like she was advising her. Celia had a proud smirk because she was glad of how she had retained her own persona despite the times changing. She had no qualms most of the time but when she does, she would often make sure there was a way out.
"Why would it stop me? I'm more powerful than those men, am I not?" she grinned devilishly, knowing fully well she can take them down with a single wave, "Though I admit, I do like feeling like nobody could match up to me. Power is very addictive" she winked playfully. Phe was slowly catching up to what she was trying to imply and Ce couldn't help but grin at that because that's exactly what she wanted, "You're catching up fast, mhmm, I may have had a personal vendetta against the King. He ruined what I thought was a lovely night by barging into a supposed locked room." It was quite petty but then again it was best not to pick a fight with someone who can gauge your secrets from within. The Italian eyed the way she took in her form again, they didn't differ that much in height but it does look cute to see herself towering above Phe who looked as lovely as ever.
"I like dark colors as well as anything strikingly bold, especially red. They said your favorite color represents your inner energy and red was meant to call chaos and unpredictable." And she guessed that was her too. "I've lived for awhile, it's good to get some fun" she shrugged absentmindedly, at first she didn't mind but it was clear that the Italian Valkyr had something for females who looked as though they can take care of themselves or had that ferocity inside them that she could very much identify. "Oh? I feel flattered" she smirked when Phe said it was obvious how she managed to let them into her long list of escapades. The offer for dinner still stood and Ce didn't see the harm in accepting because truth be told, she was quite famished. And human food is better than nothing at all. At least, enough to curb her craving at bay until she was sure Phe was safe and after escorting her back.
"Ditto." She couldn't exactly say what made her realize she's been salivating for was the blood from her handkerchief earlier and the mix of people she came across, could she? Celia was proud of her self control, which marked a new emblem in her book. When the waitress came to take their orders, Celia already knew what she wanted, "Steak frites and French onion soup, please." Yup, she was definitely in it for a meal.
“Yeah, I’ve always thought the latin language was beautiful” she responded with a soft smile, that person she hadn’t seen in a very long time but she hoped they had found some form of peace and happiness, honestly she hoped that for most of the people she had met and bonded with on her travels. She giggled slightly when Ce called her Fifi because it sounded kinda childish and yet cute “Cece” she returned the favor with a slight grin, they had a silly ring to them but it actually kinda worked. She nodded thoughtfully when Celia affirmed that she was sure that she and Gideon would figure out this Volakiri thing “I don’t doubt it” she responded with a sweet smile “We work, I think both of us have a similar understanding and view of the world” people who had been through a lot and felt a little damaged by it but continued fighting on anyway.
It was evident there was some deep relationship shared between Cecilia and Atticus in the past but it seemed to be exactly that, in the past. It had been a long time and both of them were different people than they used to be too, she supposed “It must be hard, knowing he’s back but having that separation between you now” she commented softly, she could imagine it was complicated for her, especially because she mentioned how it was a chance at love which didn’t seem like something Celia was normally open to. “The world would be a much better place if everyone did that” she agreed, though in her experience, it wasn’t the case that people actually were that selfless, especially not when it came to putting themselves in danger for the sake of someone else.
The raven-haired Wayfinder watched her intently as she talked about getting what she wanted and how it was more a process of determination than a simple spell that somehow made everyone hand over what she wanted, which of course made sense “Surely that has its limits though, what if the thing you want really is unattainable?” it was hypothetical more than anything but she had mentioned before a chance of love and how that seemed to fall through so it seemed in some ways the world didn’t give her what she wanted at all. Still, the sentiment behind what she said stuck “I get it though, if something is worth fighting for, don’t give up on it huh?” she smiled gently, that was good advice to live by.
“Well there’s no debate in that” she responded without a second thought when she said she was more powerful than those men “But that still doesn’t make it easy to be that person” she responded and nodded her head, Celia had this confidence with Ophelia both admired and found herself a little jealous of because she was sure her life would be so much easier if she had that level of confidence in herself. “No offense but you seem like the type who wouldn’t just watch from the sidelines” she grinned slightly, implying that Ce was a woman of action rather than just words though she had to admit she was surprised what the whole situation seemed to be over, she cleared her throat “So you’ve always had a taste for this lifestyle then?” no matter how much the topic died down it always seemed to come back one way or another, it was clearly something significant to Ce.
“Chaos and unpredictability” she commented thoughtfully and then grinned “Yeah I can definitely see that” the kind of person you didn’t see coming until they were suddenly there and the center of everything, definitely seemed like it matched Celia’s personality. “My favorite color is Silver” she added, even though Ce didn’t ask she felt like it was only right to share her own choice of color. Phe admitted she found herself feeling a little flustered when Celia responded she was flattered to her comment. She hadn’t really meant for what she said to be quite so direct but then it was also true, she could understand why people might give up many things for a night with her, she was almost unrealistically good looking with proportions most girls could only dream of, she had dark sun-kissed skin and piercing eyes, who wouldn’t fall at her feet the moment she asked them to.
Now they were sitting she scanned her eyes over the pages of the menu before picking out what she wanted to eat “I’ll take the salmon with sweet potato fries please” she requested with a soft smile to the waitress “And could we please get a water jug?” before long the girl was on her way to log the order and she smiled gently at the dark-haired Valkyr “I see you have good taste in food” she commented with a grin, alluding to the fact she had taken the opportunity fully “Do you have a favorite food of all time?” she asked curiously, Phe would find it hard to pick one for herself.
"It's not a language people would like to study these days, such a shame, well… except for diviners" she mused lightly, it was dubbed a dead language alongside Gaelic, for a reason. For the most part, people find it creepy and completely unnecessary to know something so ancient but that was only because they've been misguided. When Phe came back with a nickname that bode well with the nickname Ce gave her earlier, the Valkyr covered her mouth and giggled, it does sound out of place and strangely childish, but it wasn't a dislike or instant reject, "Don't let anyone hear I allow you to call me that, ever" she whispered hushedly, she would be caught wrapped around the curtains if so. "Fifi and Cece, hm… sounds like a TV show." A comedic one, probably.
"Some people can clash when it comes to personality-wise, mine didn't go well at first. We were two very different people. But, the thing that helped us was when we learned more about each other and it became our second nature." The memories stung, she would admit, but what was past will remain the past. Their story didn't work out, and Ce felt like it was the world's way of telling her she had no chance at happiness. Not the one she sought out desperately, centuries ago. But that was over 900 years ago, another new year had passed, Cecilia didn't have to be the same person she once was. The Italian definitely improved for the better. Her bloodlust was no longer tempting her hence why she could work just fine in the hospital where her days consisted of surgeries.
"Yeah, it sucks to have that kind of separation between us but I have to work with it." What if the thing she wanted was unattainable? That's a good question. "Well, then I'll simply find my way around it and see if I can break the rules just for it. Nothing is truly unattainable, at least I've never come across it before… I mean unless you mean death. Now that's something even I, have no control over." She hummed softly, nodding at her words, "Mhmm, giving up is such an easy way out." Women had been the end of the stick every time, though equality was slowly rising today, the reality hasn't changed altogether. Celia refused to let herself because she was banded with the others over it. "It's no fun to just watch, especially if you know you could do something about it," she grinned wryly, "Are you surprised something so simple could be so… big?"
Obviously, she was also waiting to see her reaction, anyone else would say she was just throwing a temper tantrum but Ce obviously hated being interrupted and if she had allowed everything to pass by, then there's no peace in that. "I guess you can put it that way. It's the only lifestyle I've known for so long." Her grin grew when Phe said it suited her, oh she likes her, something about Phe seemed gratifying, from her spirit and how she carried herself. "You know they call me Silver Tongue? I mean aside from my other endless stock of nicknames over the centuries. Silver Tongue is the second most used if not my name. Seems so ironic" she teased. Surprisingly, Ce was taking it slow when it comes to teasing with Phe, probably because she wanted this friendship to work out too. "I'm a bit famished, at the moment. I just checked out from a 16-hour shift, have mercy on me" she exclaimed and pondered for a while when she was asked what was her favorite food, "I do have a few, but I can't live without meat. This is a bit funny because I remember I was more or less a vegetarian when I was a human. You? I imagine the food now is so much better."
“Well, it’s a hard language to learn so I can’t really blame them, though when you think about it, most of the words in the English language are derived from Latin so you just have to figure out what they sound like” didn’t make for perfect fluency but it meant you could get the gist of what was trying to be said easy enough. Phe widened her eyes a little when she heard the giggle which escaped Celia’s lips and she grinned slightly because it seemed like the Valkyr was caught off guard by the nickname “Aw, does a nickname like that hurt your rep?” she grinned slightly because she could see the conflict the other woman had from being called that “Yeah one of those really cheesy shows where random things in life just keep going wrong” she wrinkled her nose and smiled, she decided she liked Celia at that moment.
She nodded slightly “Yeah, sometimes people who are opposites actually work” she agreed with that much “I see it from living with all the Celestials in the castle, you have people who are confident, people who are shy, those who prefer to be alone and those who are barely ever in the castle” she shrugged “But at the end of the day we all share something” which meant they found a way to figure it out and adapt to being around one another. “Though living with someone and letting them have a part of your mind are different huh” she nodded slightly, it was very personal and honestly quite intrusive. It was actually nice to be able to talk to someone else who had a bond of their own, even if her overall opinion of it seemed to be negative because of the breakdown in her relationship with Atticus.
Phe had a wry smile on her lips in response to the way Ce said she would simply find a way to make the thing she couldn’t have unattainable “Wow, you really are dedicated to the cause huh?” she raised her brow in an impressed manner because most people she met would simply give up when they thought it was going to be too difficult “Is the prize always worth it” she pondered out loud because surely there might not always be a way to know “In my case even death feels like something which can be tampered with, considering my amulet likes to drag me to the past at random moments” there had been quite a few Celestials she had brought forward to the future now, it was quite disorienting if she was honest. “A little” she responded when she asked if she thought something seemingly insignificant could lead to the downfall of a monarch “I guess it’s like a reminder that every small thing you do can have a huge impact you never even consider” she answered thoughtfully, nodding her head slightly.
“Has it ever occurred to you to want something different?” she asked it with completely innocent intentions, she was just curious to know what it was that motivated the other woman more than anything. She raised her brows when she said people call her ‘Silver Tongue’ “That sounds like some sort of vigilante name” she noted with a chuckle, she remembered seeing news articles about someone called the ‘Scarlett Archer’ in the city and it reminded her of that. “So that leans into that skill of persuasion you have right?” she was catching on bit by bit from the clues that Ce left her. “Wow, how are you not dead on your feet?” she asked before she realized that could be something quite insensitive to say to a Valkyr and covered her mouth in surprised “Sorry I didn’t mean to point out...that…” she sighed and pressed a hand to the side of her head, what was wrong with her?
“Meat is broad but I’ll take it” she responded with a light chuckle as she thought about her own preferences “Honestly I’m one of those stereotypical girls who can’t live without chocolate and will literally order it with anything with chocolate” she sighed because that was an embarrassing admission to make.
"It's like saying you don't want to learn French when most of the English words were also derived from that language just as well. I guess it depends on people's preferences. Latin used to be the language used widely back then." When it was back in her time, it was slightly more to Gaelic rather than Italian, or whatever that makes up Italian today, thankfully because Celia wanted to keep herself updated with everything today, technology and other things didn't come weird to her. "Shhh, nobody else needed to know that I'm allowing you to call me a silly name like that. Next thing I know, people can be starting a rumor to call me Cece which doesn't bode well for my" she gestured to herself and cleared her throat, "image. Random things that kept going wrong with their lives though. Don't jinx it" she warned playfully. She's had enough to last her a lifetime.
"At the end of the day, you only clash with people because both of the parties are not willing to make things work. If they try, then it wouldn't stay that way." With enough effort combined, nothing was impossible. Cecilia does like to believe that. "It becomes daunting sometimes but you'll get used to it. I know it's not meant to be something you have to get used to, but sometimes to survive, we pay the price it demands" she murmured, in her opinion, it wasn't a bad move for this bond. It would give both species a win-win situation. The Valkyr protects and the Celestial does the same. She wouldn't say she was dedicated but in search for another word to describe it was a bit hard so she shrugged as a response. "Everything is worth it to me. There's nothing to measure how insignificant something can be. If I pour my insights and effort into it, then it becomes just as significant as anything else."
The talk about her amulet, however, piqued her interest, that was something she didn't think Phe would let slip up. "And you don't fwlr burdened? By having to carry the amulet everywhere you go?" Ce knew it was rather insensitive on her part to drag something like that as her reason to pull an entire monarchy system down, "I would say I'm guilty but I'm not. He deserved it. It was personal yes, but it doesn't help that he was a cruel king who kept starving his subjects." Sometimes she had to hold herself back from interfering but that was one of the times she could no longer hold herself back. "There's always a price to pay, even the smallest things. He asked for a crown, that was too heavy for him to bear. So it became his undoing." Phe's question caught her off guard, "Want something different? What do you mean by that?" Ce was genuinely curious what the Celestial meant. Perhaps, there was something else she still has yet to learn about.
A chuckle escaped her when Phe pointed out that her nickname sounded like a vigilante name, "I know it sounds blah, but it's just a code name they call me. Apparently I slither in and tempt them into telling me whatever I ask them to" Another word for seductress, basically. Celia wasn't ashamed of it, in fact, she relished in the moment she could take to render them weak and vulnerable when they elastic expect it. If that's her expertise, she's using it to the best of her ability. Her reaction was so cute it made her cover her mouth with one hand as she tried to assure the other female that she doesn't mind nor care, "Don't worry about it. I don't mind. I mean, you weren't wrong. How I'm still on my feet yet is beyond me. It probably has something to do with Valkyr stamina" she winked playfully, admittedly, their stamina could carry them to do heavy workload for hours and being a doctor wasn't a first thing Ce had to do.
A wolfish grin spread across her face when Phe mentioned chocolate, "Chocolate loving girl, then. So if I take you to a chocolate factory, can I find you dancing happily in the chocolate mixer? How scandalous" she shook her head in feigned surprise before giggling, "Why chocolate?"
She laughed and shrugged her shoulders slightly as though to say she didn’t understand it either “Though I suppose there is little point learning a dead language and it would be difficult without being able to practice with someone fluent” most new languages were learned by speaking with someone who spoke it natively but there was no one who really spoke Latin as a base language anymore which meant it would be hard to practice the normal ways of speaking and understanding. “Hey you started with the silly names, mine sounds like something someone would name their poodle” she giggled slightly, scrunched her nose with a smile because she liked it, it was endearing “Besides do you really think anyone would actually dare to speak badly about you knowing you’d no doubt find out” she chuckled under her breath, shaking her head slightly.
She did make a good point though, most people who clashed and really didn’t like one another not only had differing opinions but also lacked the capacity to compromise on the topic and therefore came to the point where they couldn’t resolve things because neither would back down “Well I’d argue that the very fact nature allowed us to make this bond means it is something created for us and therefore something we should get used to” she explained her thoughts on it and then shrugged slightly “It makes sense to me, a species allied with darkness and light are able to balance one another out” which is why they are typically what makes one another weak but when they choose to ally they become twice as powerful. “I didn’t make this decision simply to survive, I made it because something about it felt right” if she had known about Volakiri sooner she probably would have taken one sooner. She glanced up at her for a moment, parting her lips in thought as she said everything felt worth it to her “That must be quite the rewarding life to live” she spoke softly, she was always the type to question if the risk was worth the payoff so it wasn’t a luxury she got to have.
Phe had decided a while ago that because the Valkyr were her allies, she would not hide things from them, Gideon knew about her amulet which meant that anyone who asked about it might know it. Truth was, someone could steal it but the moment it left her neck it because a piece of jewelry and nothing more, so unless they wanted to stop her saving more Celestials from harm, they had no use for it. “No, the amulet has always been with me” she explained and pressed her lips together “Honestly, it feels like it’s a part of me, without it I feel a little lost, kinda like a small part of my heart has been taken” though it was annoying getting dragged through time without a moment’s notice, it was usually so she could save someone’s life. She nodded her head slowly as Ce explained her experience with the king and how she took down someone who was cruel to their subjects “I mean...after all of this time do you still have a dream? Do you have some sort of endgame you search for? Or is it always living one moment to the next” she was curious how someone older than her, saw the world, she supposed.
She laughed softly “Well at least you realize that it sounds blah” she responded with a light grin on her lips “So you know everyone’s secrets basically?” must be interesting, she was sure she found a lot of things while she was giving people the things they wanted, everyone seemed to let their guard down in those kinds of situations after all. Ophelia always tried to be sensitive to others which is why she was so flustered when she said something which could be considered completely inappropriate if taken the wrong way, she gave a slightly sheepish grin in her direction and ran a hand through her dark locks “Your work must be very tiring but also very rewarding” she never really had a career of sorts, she had worked many different types of work in order to make money but none of it was really her passion, it wasn’t until the past year or so that she’d started pursuing something that actually meant something to her.
She laughed as she mentioned going to a chocolate factory and dancing in the chocolate mixer “I don’t know it’s just something I like to treat myself to sometimes, when I’m having a hard day or I feel really tired out, I get a bar of chocolate and I feel a little bit better” she scrunched her nose a little “I know it sounds cheesy” she admitted with a shake of her head “I do love cheese snacks though, those are good too” melted cheese was one of her weaknesses that was for sure.
