"I'm all in baby" was the last thing he had said to her before heading away from her house, he wondered how things had changed so quickly between them and yet it felt like this had been a long time coming. They'd known one another for years, been friends for most of that and in time she had become the single person he reached for first. She was the first one he wanted to talk to in the morning and the last person he wanted to wish goodnight. It was hard to imagine his life without her.
Watching her rush off to her room he headed out the door and started walking the distance to Han's place, thankfully it wasn't too far. He didn't waste any time as he headed in, grabbed some clothes from the chest of drawers and piled them into his duffel bag before looking around and grabbing his blanket off the bed, he was used to traveling pretty light so it didn't take him long to gather up the essentials. He wasn't really sure what their next few days were going to look like but he felt optimistic, which wasn't something the young star was used to. He wondered if the feeling would last.
He scrawled a quick note to Han not to expect him home for a few days and then headed out, grabbing his keys and getting into his car. Before long he was pulling up outside the house once again. He got out and checked the state of the car, making sure all the lights were working and none of the tires looked like they were on their last legs, he didn't want to risk breaking down in the middle of the trip.
Knowing the door was unlocked he headed inside just in time to see her coming down the stairs. She looked so much brighter and happier than she did the first time he saw her today and he felt his heart lurch in his chest in response "You look...shimmery" he commented a little bluntly, but the sentiment of what he was thinking was there.

She raised her eyebrows when he said he'll be the clingy one and chuckled "Ah yes the day you be the clingy one I will forever give you that title" Of course she's teasing because no way he couldn't do that but judging from his words after that, it even left the aurazin in shock. Oh damn... he has definitely got her feeling something, her stomach had butterflies she even bit her lip to stop smiling. "You never want to stop falling more...?" The blush made its home in her cheeks and she covered both of them with her hands, because what was that?
They've never had much of a boundary, even before. Their boundaries as friends were almost non existent and now that they are actually dating, it'll be gone right? "No boundaries...?" Still, saying it and hearing it from him is different. She could tell herself things but him saying it... that brings it to a whole new level. She was staring at him the entire time he was listening to the music and smiled when he said he hoped nobody would hurt her that badly "I hope not... I have my eyes on someone and he really makes my heart pounds... I'm just afraid I won't be enough..."
Her blush got deeper when he said no boundaries again, and specifically the part where he said who knows what he'll do. She didn't know how long the drive was but she knew they even dropped by a drive thru on the way and ate in the car before continuing the ride. Astraea stared at outside with her hands still holding his and pointed out the sunset is beautiful "Such a beautiful sunset... how close are we?"
He quirked his brow playfully and grinned “You don’t believe I could be clingy?” he might be a very independent person but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t want to hold on to the good things he had now with both hands. He didn’t want to lose the things that mattered, no one wanted that right? Seeing the way she was shocked by his words only made him blush deeper because since when did he blurt confessions like that. Still, he wasn’t going to deny it now he said it “I don’t…I hope this feeling could…last” he wanted more.
“We never needed them before did we?” he questioned her and pressed his lips together, there was a time when he wanted space from her but that had changed in time, as they got to know one another and he learned more about her, he had really warmed to her, he liked her, he liked who she was and the person he was becoming with her influence. “You’re more than enough” he responded sharply when she spoke about her worries “Without you I’d still be that miserable…bitter person…I was when I came to Evermore” and frankly, he never wanted to be that person again.
The drive took a toll on him, stopping a few times along the way to get snacks and stretch, they covered good ground across Nevada and then they crossed the border into California. Eventually the signs up ahead were plastered with Los Angeles, the numbers slowly ticking down. They chatted about all random things along the way and Astra even got in a few more naps along the way “I’d say another 45 minutes” he pointed out the skyline of the city in the distance. “Do you wanna head straight to the parks or find a hotel first…”
"It's not that I purposely don't want to believe you but when I'm in the equation it is hard to believe that someone can more clingy than me..." She chuckled, because Astraea knows she is a naturally clingy person. She still couldn't believe that the Sunmin Park just quite literally blurted out how he is falling for her. Because what was this? Sunmin likes her and he said he's falling for her, dear heart please stop beating so goddamn fast, she cursed. It's making her giddy and nervous at the same time.
You're more than enough, he said. She could feel herself swallowing because her throat suddenly felt dry upon hearing those words and meeting his brief gaze before he turned his eyes back on the road. "You're better now... and I hope that I can be the reason for a lot of good things Sunmin... I really... really appreciate you a lot." The drive was long and it was to be expected but it doesn't stop Astraea from wondering when they'll arrive. The sight of the sunset gave her hope that perhaps they're closer now.
When he asked her if they wanted to find a hotel first or go straight to the parks, her stomach grumbled before she could utter a single word. When she heard that, she grinned sheepishly and mumble "Can we eat instant noodles or takeout at the hotel? We can go to park later..." She couldn't believe she's famished again but it is happening.
He chuckled softly “Well that’s true…you are the person who kept talking to a brick wall in the hopes he would eventually respond” he murmured softly, she was very steadfast in her determination he would give her that much. In the end he had given in because she seemed so fixed on getting to know him, he figured he should at least give her a little credit. “But still...I’m not the type of person who knows how to let go…” once he had set himself on something, he didn’t want to lose it.
He saw the way she looked so filled with assurance when he responded to her in that way and he couldn’t help but smile softly, he wanted her to be confident in her own self “You already are Astra…we’ve already pushed each other a long way forward so let’s…keep doing that” he mumbled softly. He laughed when she said she wanted some dinner “Well then how about we have that dinner we were planning…maybe somewhere…nice” there were plenty of places around he could take her.
“Instant noodles aren’t going to do all that well at keeping you going” she might be an aurazin but he swore she had the stomach of a therianthrope still. He had researched a few hotels in the area and on their last stop had placed in a last-minute reservation for one so he routed the GPS there and before long they were pulling up outside of the place. “Well it’s…nicer than the motel” he murmured softly, more expensive too obviously but that was to be expected.
She chuckled because he had referred to himself as a brick wall "Well I would be lying if I said that's not near to accurate... you are a brick wall..." It wasn't easy getting to him because he was also a stubborn star. Thank god she didn't give up and tried her best to still get to him. There was nothing that could describe how happy and giddy she feels every single time he would call her Astra. It felt like an endearing nickname that she never got over. It sounded soft and delicate.
When he talked about dinner, her ears instantly perked up as she looked at him like some puppy who just saw some snacks being dangled over "That's true... I have been eating a lot lately and I honestly have no idea..." Should an aurazin be eating this much? "What type of food will we get...? Italian? Steak? Chinese?" She's already excited at the prospect of food because her stomach has been rumbling for the past 20 minutes.
When she saw the hotel they were going to stay at she marveled "So much nicer...," She murmured and bit her lip as she got out and went to his side with her things as they head over to the receptionist to get a room "Remember... one room is enough..." She didn't want him to waste buying two rooms when they can share one bed together.
He scoffed and narrowed his eyes playfully when she agreed he was a brick wall, almost looking a little offended that she didn’t even try in the slightest to deny it “Well aren’t we a pair, the brick wall and the crazy one who decided to run head first into it” she was lucky he crumbled rather than caused her to slam.
He chuckled at the way she lit up at the mention of food “Italian sounds nice” he commented and nodded slightly, he was sure there were plenty of places to eat around. After collecting his things he locked the car and followed her up the steps into the reception area. He nudged her side slightly when she reminded him she wanted to share a room “I sent in a reservation under the name Park” he mentioned to the lady at the desk who quickly looked up the reservation and then got them a room key.
He passed her his credit card to put on file and then they were sent off towards their room on the 4th floor, after navigating to the elevator he pressed the 4 button and the pulled her in closer so he could hug her from behind, resting his head on her shoulder and closing his eyes “We finally made it” he mumbled almost a little sleepily, he was sure he would perk up a little after he’d had some food but driving for hours had definitely taken it’s toll.
She gave him a playful scowl and shook her head "I know right... I feel like I'm grateful for the wall too... thank god he crumbled. Or else I'd be bleeding..." It wouldn't be an understatement to call him cold and hard. Because god knows Sunmin Park doesn't give in easily. The thought of good was already making her tummy growl even louder and she grinned sheepishly in embarrassment as she placed her hands over hers, because well why did you have to put yourself out there?
In front of Sunmin no less. That's her boyfriend now, she can't exactly do embarrassing things that will likely make her want to dig a hole and die in. "Let me guess, are you a ravioli or macaroni guy? I mean the mac and cheese actually gives me an insight but still, I want to ask." She knows plenty about him but she doesn't know more, so the aurazin wanted to take this opportunity to get to know him better.
When the receptionist gave them the key, she still had her arm hooked around his when they entered the elevator but had to let go because she was the one who came in later after him. When he suddenly hugged her from behind Astraea swore she froze momentarily but slowly melted against his warm embrace. That was surprising but also very nice. "I'm glad you're comfortable and getting into this whole... dating thing fast, and here I was thinking we would be two awkward peas."
She stroked his hand gently and stepped out when the elevator reached the 4th floor. She found their unit and used the card he had in his hand to unlock the door, dragging him inside. "Do you want to nap for a while before we eat or? You look a bit worn out..." She murmured and cupped his face gently "We can still order for delivery though... it won't taste as good. But I don't want you to be tired..."
He laughed and shook his head slightly “You’re a fool, Astraea Wu” he couldn’t ever really understand her thought processes because he knew he would never follow the same patterns she did. But the thing was, she kept jumping headfirst and it somehow worked for her, she was the type of person who you could so easily take advantage of…but she also came with so many people who naturally wanted to protect her.
He chuckled when her stomach rumbled loudly “Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you” he jested as he eyed her tummy addressing it like it was another entity “What if I threw a curveball and told you I prefer carbonara?” he teased and raised his brows, he did like spaghetti after all. “What about you? Chicken parmesan maybe?” she definitely liked eating meat which he figured was because there was a point in her life when she was a therianthrope.
He wondered for a moment if things were awkward when she froze like that but soon enough he felt the way she relaxed in his arms “I’m just going with what feels…right” he explained as he pulled her a little tighter “Things have always felt easy when it comes to just you and me…it’s other people that make things…trickier” he exhaled deeply, following her out of the elevator and to their room.
He headed inside and set down his bag on the floor but the feeling of her hands against his face made him pause as he lowered his gaze to her. Holding his breath for a moment in surprise because she was so close “I’m okay….nothing a good meal and a sugary drink won’t fix” he assured her, but he felt so touched that she was worrying for his welfare “I don’t want to waste any time I could be spending with you” he confessed and smiled.
People always associated being called by their full name as if they've done something wrong and they're being reprimanded but Astraea never saw it as that way for her. To her, being called her full name brings back memories she thought she had lost and she's damn grateful for it. She likes hearing her name, especially when it's being uttered by a beloved person like him. "I swear I could ask you to call me that again..." It sounded different and she loves it a lot. "I'm a fool for you maybe..." Which might've sounded awkward but she really meant that with her entire heart.
She raised her eyebrow when he said he preferred carbonara "Oh damn you're a spaghetti guy? How... surprising... but also not. Damn carbonara... those are usually the mysterious and hot ones..." She quipped and added her favorite too "Mine used to be bolognese... because meatball and if it's not already clear, I still somewhat retained my foxxy side who loves meat... but now... maybe mac and cheese took my heart too" thanks to a certain someone. And quite possibly only his mac and cheese. She's selective like that.
Astraea loves that he pulled her in tighter and trusted her with this, because physical affection and intimacy has always been her love language and seeing Sunmin of all people melt against her was something she never wanted to forget. "Yes... I agree others can make it so tricky..." She murmured, "But with you and I... we should just stop caring and do what feels right." But what doesn't feel right with him? She's admittedly very biased when it comes to the matter of Sunmin Park.
When he lowered his gaze on her, she captured his with her doe eyes, it felt like forever because they were really close. Her eyes flickered down to his lips momentarily and she swallowed before averting her gaze back up to his eyes "Let's go then baby... let's eat." She clasped his hand and dragged him with her after they put their things.
He noticed the way she practically lit up when he called her like that, he tilted his head slightly in curiosity “You could huh? You are such an enigma to me sometime….Astraea Wu” he purposely called her by her full name again because she seemed to like it. “My fool” he teased her playfully, maybe she was reckless but that’s what made her so charming in his eyes “You can’t go wrong with spaghetti and you can’t go wrong with cheese” he pressed his lips together and smirked playfully when she said she’d been won over to mac and cheese “Don’t set yourself up for disappointment…they won’t be able to compete with mine” he jested softly.
He had wondered in the past if things would be awkward between them if they crossed the line…but everything felt surprisingly easy with her, perhaps because she was so in tune with physical affection “Other people like to judge and to meddle…I don’t care for it” he mumbled softly “But with you…I don’t ever feel judged…you’ve always done nothing but encourage me…” it was uplifting and it made him want to be a better person. He wanted to keep seeing those proud looks she gave him…he wanted her eyes to sparkle the way they did…right now.
He sucked in a somewhat nervous breath when he noticed the way her eyes flicked down to his lips…he could feel the magnetism between them in that moment and he knew it only took a few short centimeters…but then she spoke and he was jolted back to reality in a moment “Yes…food” he mumbled in a flustered manner and took her hand in his, heading out the door and then back down the elevator. Before long they were outside, there were plenty of restaurants lining the street so they weren’t short on choice.
He pointed out one which seemed to be serving Italian food and tugged her towards it in excitement “I can’t believe we’re actually here…it doesn’t feel real” he commented in a soft voice. There were many things he could barely believe honestly.
The fact that he actually called her by her full name again just because she had asked him to made her heart flutter. The aurazin couldn't help but to just beam at the celestial for giving in and complying. "Thank you... Sunmin" She didn't clarify what the thanks was for but he had to have known why. "Oh you can never go wrong with cheese... never..." She was already drooling at the thought of it too. It doesn't help that she's also famished. When he bragged how others would never really be able to achieve the level of satisfaction he did when he served her the mac and cheese, she chuckled "Fine, then I will always go for your mac and cheese whenever I'm craving them. Are you ready to make them for me always though?"
It's a bit funny how something like that has now become her comfort food because of what it meant to her. Sunmin going out his way to make her feel happy on the day she felt sad the most changed everything. "You've never cared much for what people say" She pointed out and she actually likes that part of him. That no nonsense behavior that made her wonder if she could ever match up to that one day.
Astraea didn't know what was it that pulled her in but she found herself staring at his lips and then licking her own lips without realizing. Call it reflex? But should reflex make her feel so conflicted as she is right now? When they walked down the streets with their hands clasped around each other, she stared at the shops excitedly, everything looks new to the aurazin. She peeked her head to the side when he pointed out a restaurant "Come then, I'm so hungry I could eat a whole you." Again, she dragged him to go inside and found them a good spot by the windows.
He offered a small smile when she thanked him, he might not be the best person at picking up hints but if she directly told him she liked something, he would always make an effort to do it more, because he wanted her to be happy “Exactly my point…it’s the ultimate comfort food” he was the kind of person who would order extra cheese for his burgers and generally gravitated to meals with it in. “Sure…if it becomes a surefire way I can lift your day…I’d make it without hesitation…” it was something small he could do, but it seemed like it had a much bigger impact.
“I’m good at protecting myself” he responded when she said he didn’t care much for what people said “People can be selfish…and cruel, they say things without even considering who they might hurt” and so he had learned to shut it all out, to shrug and say it wasn’t their business or he didn’t care “But you know…there’s some people who…matter” if Han said he was disappointed in him…that would hurt, he knew that much at least.
Sunmin swore his heart was beating a little faster after that moment, seeing the way her doe eyes were so fixed on him, they seemed so welcoming and soft…like she was saying a thousand things and nothing at all at the same time, he could almost feel the emotions pouring from her. But just as quick as the moment came, it moved and the two of them were heading outside. Before long they were in the restaurant, seated by the window, a candle on the table between them. He bit his lip “This feels like…a traditional first date…right” well it wasn’t traditional after the meal…considering they were sharing a hotel room but..still.
