Daniel had been at university for a few months and he'd decided life here quite suited him, there was a free and youthful atmosphere that fitted with him well. He'd made a lot of friends already, studying sports tended to help with that, he'd met a fair few of the cheerleaders along with people who just liked to hang out at the sports field. That didn't leave him a lot of time back at the dorms so he did sometimes try to make time to check back to the room every so often for Seojun.

The grumpy male tended to keep to himself though and he was usually off chasing one of the redheads in the girls dorms who he liked to remind Daniel often wasn't his girlfriend. The human liked the experience of being single at college though, it left him the freedom to hang out with whoever wanted, and with his roommate rarely being around it wasn't exactly hard to sneak people in here and there.

That was all due to change today though, he'd known for about week they were planning to fill the empty room in their shared apartment. And of course as soon as they told him the guy's name he had totally stalked him on social media, he was pretty cute he had to admit. Mostly he was trying to ensure his new roommate wasn't going to be as miserable as the other one because it would be nice to have someone to drag to parties with him. He had just gotten back from practice, heading up the stairs and into the room before noticing that new guy's stuff was already in his room but there was no sign of him.

Daniel raised a curious brow and turned back towards the main room wondering where he could have gone, he headed out of the hall and peered curiously before heading out towards the shared bathroom. He couldn't hear the sound of the shower running but when he pushed on the door to open it, it was locked it "Is someone in there?" he questioned curiously, he usually went for a shower after practice because usually no one else was around this time of day, either at class or study hall.

He shook his head to hide the fact that he was actually startled and taken back the first time "No worries... I feel like I should tell you this before you get the wrong impression of me. Uh... I'm considered to be soft... or a softie, you know? But I'm not really affected or offended. So don't take it to heart either." Jihoon is understanding, he's generally nice and wouldn't offend others. The moment his words might offend someone or cross the line, he would immediately make good of his word. "I don't mind staying inside... but certain circumstances had made me unable to go outside for a while and when I could finally break free from said restraints, of course, I was more than happy to feel the sun on my face again." Again, very literal.

Jihoon had to keep himself indoors all the time because Dae thought it would be better and Yeon thought the same because not everyone was as gifted as him when it comes to self control. He nodded when he asked if six was his lucky number "Weird number right? But yeah I'm usually quite lucky when associated to that number." When the human told him he should call him Dan, he grinned and pointed to himself "If you want to give me a nickname, feel free. Though I don't think anyone has actually shortened my name into anything before... maybe Hoon?" That sounds probable.

He chuckled softly when the human deflected entirely because he thought he had asked something personal and sensitive. Well, it is sensitive to the valkyr but Jihoon didn't think there was anything wrong to talk about it. "I had an injury... that rendered my mobility... yeah. So I was homebound for months-long without seeing the sun outside. My friends were busy working too which meant they couldn't take care of me all the time." He eyed the male in front of him from top to bottom when he said he wouldn't be able to take himself seriously "Well... you would make it work. You have good proportions... a good physique. You play, right?" He did because Jihoon could see he had defined muscles.

His eyes lit up at the sudden mention of pastries and bakery "Oh you'll like being my roommate if you like to eat snacks and pastries. I do a lot. Almost every two business days." He likes to make sure the people around him have a happy tummy. He wasn't the first to say he didn't know what to do because that was probably every adolescent's struggle once upon a time "What do you like other than football?"

Daniel smiled softly, Jihoon didn’t need to say it himself because he could definitely tell the kind of person he was just, he was sweet and probably far more open than most people were used to, a passionate sort of person who was loyal and dedicated “Well I’m a jokester for sure so don’t mind if I tease you a little, just means I like you” he echoed back and nodded his head “But noted, being soft isn’t an easy thing to be in a world like this you know” he could respect someone direct like him, he tended to stay clear of fake people.

He nodded slightly “You must be glad to be back to doing…whatever it is you wanna do then” being sick couldn’t be fun, especially when he was so young, there must have been so many things he wanted to do but couldn’t. He chuckled softly “Well it’s double 3 which is considered a lucky number so…if it works for you it works right” there wasn’t really any rationale behind choosing a lucky number, you just did.

He bit his lip in thought when Jihoon suggested he give him a nickname “I think people might look at us funny if I call you that” he commented and chuckled, it sounded a little strange outside of Korea he would admit “You don’t have an English name at all?” because he was thinking it would be a good idea to nickname him one if so. “LJ would work too” he’d read on their room assignment sheet that his family name was Lim after all.

Noticing the other male was checking him out, he purposely posed a little playfully before waiting to hear his comments about him “I certainly do, it was a long dream of mine to play in the big leagues but lately I haven’t been so much about it…been trying to decide what I can see myself doing all my life and a football career is so short in the grand scheme of things…if you even make it in the first place” he wasn’t sure he would ever want to be a trainer or manager either.

He widened his eyes “Well then you’re going to be my new best friend because I will be coming to rob you of anything you make if it smells good” he teased softly and grinned, he liked the idea of having a chef in the house because honestly Daniel wasn’t all that good at cooking and he could use some tips. “Let’s see…Video games…parties…reading about dieting and nutrition…I even took to crocheting at one point” he commented and grinned “I’m pretty easy, willing to try anything once” he nodded “And you?”

Usually, if someone as attractive as Daniel compliments you and said they like you, the most normal reaction to that would be to blush profusely and try your best not to fall over. See, the human obviously has that effect on pretty much everyone. Thankfully, the valkyr just chuckled in response because he was glad his roommate had a good sense of humor. “I am… back then I had limited choices. Choose this or that. Never both…” it was hard to determine what he truly wanted but now that he had a second chance in his life, it’s fine to just get into it.

It didn’t mean Jihoon regretted ever taking contemporary dance, god no. He was grateful. But culinary was something he also wanted to try. When asked if he had an English name, he bit his name and grinned sheepishly, even though he practically grew up in America, he never actually had an English name. “No… I don’t. My mom was fine calling me Hoon…” He missed her honestly. He had a solemn look plastered all across his face because even if he didn’t die, Jihoon never had a good relationship with his sisters and father, save for one.

His mother and one half of his twin sister, Maia. “My sister used to tell me I didn’t need to have an English name because my name is already beautiful…” He wondered how she was doing now. “LJ sounds nice…” For a nickname, it sounded much more approachable. The make could understand why Daniel didn’t make football his career since all it takes was one injury to bring him down forever. It made sense. The same goes for him when he was dancing. But now? There was no way of him ever having any injury relapsing.

“As long as we have something in the house, I can make something out of it” he exclaimed proudly, though he only cooked for fun, Jihoon knew he had the skills and passion to pair it. His food was good and he knows it. “Crocheting? I can’t imagine how you looked doing that honestly…” He was amused because only a patient person can actually go through the torturous period. “I like dancing obviously… which was expected from a Juilliard graduate but… I also like playing lacrosse. I was good at it. Oh, right I also like to paint murals.”

Daniel tilted his head slightly “Yeah…life feels like that a lot, until you step back a little and remember you’re the one in the driving seat…not everyone else” it took a lot of work to gain control over your own life, even then, the expectations of others often weighed you down. The human noticed there was a twinge of sadness in the other male’s expression when he mentioned his mom “Well they’re not wrong, you do have a great name” though one that no doubt got butchered a lot by people around them.

He noticed how passionate Jihoon was about everything he did, even though he gave up dancing, Daniel got the impression he would never truly give anything up, that fire would remain within him forever. He could respect someone who was so steadfast in the things they cared about, he wished he could relate honestly. He’d been railroaded into sports by his family, and while he enjoyed it, it never felt fully his, because he never picked it for himself. Perhaps that’s why he felt so hesitant now honestly “Yeah? That makes me very tempted just to buy random ingredients to see what you end up making with them” Daniel could find his way around a kitchen but he certainly wasn’t good at cooking.

“I wouldn’t even know where to start without googling a recipe online, how do you even know how much of everything to use?” practice perhaps? A skill in being able to eyeball what a portion looked like? He had no idea. He chuckled softly “It was one of those things that was easy to pick up and do…making the little plushes of different characters” he had a few of them on his windowsill of different silly characters he’d learned to make, they were charming.

“So he’s a pretty athletic, likes cooking and is even good at painting” he pursed his lips and raised his brow “Now the obvious question that follows is what are you not good at” hell from the tone of his voice, he wouldn’t even be surprised if Jihoon could sing well at this point.

Even though Jihoon was still young, he felt like he has gone through two different lives in two lifetimes. Perhaps it was due to him being a valkyr. Once you became a valkyr, whatever life you thought you used to have? Forget about them, he could still remember those exact words ringing in his ear because Dae was the one who told him that, knowing Yeon wouldn’t be able to break it down to his close friend. “But yeah… it’s not easy for people to pronounce them hence why it gets butchered like every 5 minutes… it’s fine” He didn’t take offense to it knowing they didn’t actually mean to do that. Different culture begets different ways after all.

He raised his eyebrows playfully when Daniel mentioned he would get random ingredients just to see what he would make with those. “I mean… we could try to make that a regular occurrence. A weekly challenge if you may. I am sure I can whip something up…” Something edible, at least. For Jihoon, that would just hone his culinary skills even more since either requires plenty of innovation and creativity.

“After a while of doing the same recipe with a lot of modifications, you just end up making your own formula in your head, just like science… or math.” Ironically, Jihoon used to be exceptionally good at both too. It wasn’t surprising because he was a star student but academics never shone a bright light on him, the valkyr never saw it particularly appealing.

Jihoon blushed momentarily when Daniel complimented him, he didn’t expect to get such compliment but it feels very natural for the human. “Well… I have extreme dislike towards… insects you know? I scream like a lady at the sight of them. If I see a bug, you will know. In fact, the whole complex will hear it. I shall make it known… unapologetically.” He hates them with all his might. “Also… I tried to ride a bicycle when I was a kid and despite knowing how to balance myself as a dancer, I could never balance myself on a bike…”
