Hanseol has been living by himself for as long as he could remember. From the day he flee from his home country, or the country where he landed in the first place, till this day. Well, minus the days he spent locked up captive in his cell with his fellow Celestials at the island where the Ailwards were keeping them at. Yes, he still harbored ill feelings towards them and wanted nothing more than to pay them tenfold for what they have done to him and the others but as time passes while they were settling down in Evermore, he thought it would do him no good to keep dwelling in the past and that he should be marching forward for the future instead. But of course, just because he forgave about it for a while, doesn’t mean he forgot about it. The bitter memory will forever be embedded in his scars.
A scar he’ll never forget. Ever.
Waking up from the nightmares again, Hanseol sighed before pulling himself up from the bed that became wet due to his sweats and rinsed his face with the cold water from the tap a few times. Is this how it felt? For people who’s been suffering nightmares such as him? It hasn’t been long but it’s enough for the young Celestial. Staring at the reflection before him in the mirror, he only saw a sleep-deprived boy. His dark brown hair was wet as the water travelled to his collarbones, and his dark eyes were empty. But was it really? Was it truly empty as it looked?
“What am I doing with my life..” He mumbled to himself as he covered his face with his hands. He preferred to keep himself occupied with his new work, but it’s not really doing him justice. He thought by being tired and exhausted, he would be having a better and easier time to fall asleep but that’s far from it. Ever since he started his occupation as a veterinarian at the local vet clinic, he’s been have trouble sleeping. As if he didn’t suffer from them before. Instead of sleeping on his comfortable bed at night, he often finds himself dozing off on his desk at work. Well, to him, to the very least, he had dogs and other animals alike to keep him company for the night and day. As a certified animal lover, nothing makes him happier than being with animals. It breaks him however, to tell the owners regarding their sick buddies.
Getting dressed in his simple but casual attire, he made his way out and decided to wander around the town for a while in the early morning. He’s a morning person, even though he might not look like it. Facades and covers tend to fool a lot of people. He passed by a normal human being many times without inviting any type of suspicion on him thankfully. He was immensely grateful for that ability. Since he knew, despite having a faction backing and protecting him, he needed to learn how to fend for himself, something he’s done even before he was captured. Finding himself settling down in one of the local cafes, he ordered his coffee before taking it and perched himself on one of the benches for a while before going back to the vet clinic.
He unlocked the lock and prepped the place before sliding into the counter, greeting the sleepy furballs as he wore his coat that had his name printed on it. He decided to keep the name he was given instead of using a new one. ‘Hanseol Park’ was printed instead of ‘Aleksander Park’. The irony. He should be awaiting a few customers who will come by to get vaccine shots and whatnot, so while waiting, he lightened the place up and fed the others. In his hands, he also had that bunny plushie, one the furballs seemed to love seeing how alike he was to it.

Willa shrugged her slim shoulders having stopped trying to understand the motives of others centuries ago. Most motives were incredibly selfish and vain which meant they didn’t matter to Willa. Then again not much really mattered to the ancient Neph other than family which Bifrost was apart of. Her nice and fancy apartment could be taken from her tomorrow and she wouldn’t care, she could lose her job and fortune and she would still be fine because she had been through worse and rarely blamed others for her position in life. “In life the only thing we can control is ourselves and our actions so why waste so much time and energy hating someone for something you couldn’t control? Yes they made a choice to do whatever it was to you but you don’t have to hold onto that and hold yourself back in life.” If Willa had held everything which had been done against her in life she wouldn’t be where she was now and she wouldn’t have survived. More often than not it took more strength to forgive and move on from something than to hold a grudge and hatred.
“Some people haven’t been hardened to life yet or spent their lives in a protective bubble. The problem is protecting them weakened them to reality and actually did them a disservice.” Not that Willa could have said much when she was young since her family only ever sought to protect her including Aeryn but all that came crumbling down when their “father” killed their “Uncle” and she and Aeryn became bond with the stone. Willa had to become strong to survive since the only person to protect her was herself. “Life is unkind to everyone, you just have to find a way to cope.” Willa said simply since that had been her experience in her slightly over seven-hundred years.
Most species Willa could easily pin point after living so long and being on guard for so long but she had no idea what this young man was other than not human. “I never claimed to be human.” She responded with a hint of a smile on her full lips. “We know when people are or are not human but I’ve never seen anything like you, there’s an odd….glow.” There wasn’t a much better way to describe it since all aura’s glowed to a point but there was something different about his. “We also know when a person is lying so I might be a little more hesitant about lying around me again. I see it as a character flaw.” It seemed doubtful he meant to lie since he just seemed to be making a comment, but she always kept a tally with everyone she met. “A person should be proud of what they are, not long to be something different. Being human doesn’t come from being part of the species but from the humanity and humanitarianism we show others.” Her voice was a bit softer now as her teeth sunk into her full bottom lip understanding more than he realized about having a bounty on your head. “Running and fighting isn’t the preferred way to live but bounties do have an odd way of making your feel more valuable than you see yourself as.” Willa had never thought of herself as anything special until people were hunting her and then instead of becoming the prey she turned the tides and changed the game.
At the compliment Willa laughed softly with a slight shake of her head, “I’m not sure I’d say interesting but I’ve seen a lot in life and been alive longer than most would expect. When your life is filled with mostly running, fear and sorrow you learn to let things go and try to focus on the positive. I’m far from a positive person but I refuse to allow the actions of others to mold who I am and what I’ve becoming. If you try to make me a victim I’ll become a fighter because no one gets a say in what or who I am.” Her voice was strong and full of wisdom of another time. “Life is about being who you want to be, not about others. And you can call me Willa, no one is ever that formal with me unless I'm working."
Hanseol found himself to relate with such life that involved so much evolving around the list of bounties and running. After all, even before he was captured by the Ailward guards, he spent his time running away, hence his nomadic pattern where he did not dare to stay anywhere else for more than a month-- a few weeks tops, really. That was why he quite disagreed with having not being human the moment the female Nephilim said something about it. He wanted nothing more than to live his life as a human if he had the chance to determine his futuristic path. Had it been possible, he would’ve settled for a much more mundane lifestyle rather than the one he’s experiencing at the moment.
Running and running, that’s all he’s known ever since. It had resulted his lack of socializing and attachments, which meant no friends, no one. Evidently, that kind of life will grow tedious as time passes by and you get alone, and for the Celestial, he despised the very essence of being alone in the world. But because of what he was, he was forced into a whirlpool of choices he didn’t even want. That’s life, isn’t it? He hasn’t had the chance to live his life properly nor did he had the opportunity to bask himself in the current lifestyle he’s undergoing. Every day was a constant question mark. Keeping themselves safe and preserving their every part became an importance for all Celestials, considering they wouldn’t be the only collateral damage when death comes.
“You have enough experiences from my view, Willa. It’s probably because you’ve spent your entire life travelling around it. It makes you sound very wise.” he complimented, a small smile curving itself on his lips as he skimmed through the medium sized file that had a few information on Bifrost, who was sleeping soundly in the other room after being treated. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to cope with the life I have. It’s a whole ride down from there. Not knowing which day you’d die on the hands of other people who only seemed to think about their greed and nothing more.” he mumbled softly, trying his very best not to think about it and to focus on living his life more fully. If that was even possible.
Upon hearing Willa’s small comment about his odd glow, he chuckled softly in response before twirling the pen in his fingers and tapped it a few times on the mahogany wood of the counter. “Yeah, I get that a lot. I won’t be surprised if you don’t know what I was at first glance. Most take their time trying to correlate around it, because we’re supposed to be ‘erased’ from existence.” Hanseol had made sure to put a highlight on the quotation. But a part of him while still resenting the Ailwards, was quite glad it gave the opportunity for them to start anew; for those who spent their entire life running from hit men and mercenaries sent their way to gain their energy or really, just to kill them and alter something within the timeline. Just to put it as a token of goodwill to a starting friendship, he decided to give a small revelation on who he was. Surely, Nephilim being the light species much like Celestials wouldn’t hurt him, right? He was solely depending on his instincts now. “I’m what you call a Celestial. Either you’ve heard or you haven’t. Thought you should at least know what I am, you’ve been kind to me, after all.” Maybe he was naive, but sometimes having something positive in your life makes it all better. He refused to let the vengeful and bitter side of him that was developed in the cell to come out. It wasn’t worth it. He was better than that.
Willa could relate to running, hiding and feeling like she didn’t belong in the world but she had never focused on it and allowed it to overwhelm her since life was a gift no matter the hardships you had to face within it. There were ups and downs, running and fighting but now she felt at peace with life and like she was able to relax in a world that wasn’t as bad as it once seemed like it had been. Though she had no idea what Hanseol had been through in life, she hope that he was able to move past it but everyone was different, she wasn’t as sensitive as he seemed like he could be.
For so long her entire focus had been protecting the stone which had given her immortality. Willa had known that in the wrong hands immortality gifted to the wrong person was a dangerous thing, but now all Nephilims were immortal but there were still others who would seek the stone should they know about it. Thankfully it seemed to have been forgotten or lost in history which was the best thing she could ask for. Being reunited with her brother and Venetus was something she had never expected or anticipated but she was so incredibly glad to have them both within her life. “You’re part of a species you can’t talk about which just makes me all the more curious to be honest.” She stated while continuing to look him over, seeing the light energy which seemed to radiate off of him.
A laugh left her at Hanseol’s words, “Wise is something I haven’t really been called but I’ve lived longer than any other Nephilim I’ve ever met, besides my brother. I’ve seen so much and survived even more, I’ve run and fought but I don’t think I’ve ever truly enjoyed life and just lived.” Granted there had been a short time when she had truly tried to enjoy life with those around her but it had ended in a harsh way with her leaving. Now she had to mend those bridges which was going to be far from easy since many were hurt because of what she had done. “That’s something I can understand more than you know Hanseol but if all you think of or focus on are the negatives in life and the whatifs then you’ll drive yourself insane and have no life. It’s not a good way to live that’s for sure. You deserve more from life than that and you should live it how you want it instead of worrying over what could happen since they’re no guarantee that’s what is going to happen.” She didn’t know why she was trying to be so supportive but she knew the issues of the lifestyle she had lead and didn’t want that for others.
At his words she already had an idea of what he was, the knowledge seeming to unlock in the back of her mind, “You’re a Celestial.” She had seen a few during her time on the Isle of Skye but that had been a long time ago and something which she like the rest of the world had forgotten. “I knew some of you once upon a time at a place I’m sure you all associate with hardship and pain.” The strange expression on his face seemed like he was going on guard with her, “I’m not an Ailward Hanseol, I just…I used to know them and spent some time on the Isle of Skye. I have no feelings about your kind one way or another but I understand how hard it is to run, hide and fight for survival since I’ve done the same thing throughout my life. Though as a Neph I have a few more useful abilities than you Celestials do I guess.” Willa had learned to judge people on how they acted and how they treated her, not on what they were. Hanseol was kind and she could see that all he wanted was to have a life and start over.
Hanseol didn't have as many experience in meeting other people coming from their respective species, and to be fair, he's only ever roamed the earth for the first 3 years of his life and adding the latest 2 years after being freed from his captivity that seemed to have taken a lot more toll than he'd led on. The celestial will never admit it outright but it was clear from the way he acted with everyone and literally everything around him, he's wary of his surroundings and always remembered to look past his shoulders every 5 minutes. It was upsetting least to say.
But with the nephilim in front of him that struck him as unique and endearing, Hanseol was sure he felt a calm wave washing over him briefly. Perhaps, he wasn't wrong to open himself up a little bit more than usual. In his defense, it's already hard to find trustworthy people, much less those who wouldn't be tempted to use him for their own gain, as even the purest heart are drawn to darkness and there was something about Willa that was incorporated with that, strangely enough. The fallen star saw himself to be quite the good judge of character for most part. Though he was sure her appearance doesn't do her justice apparently, the dark haired female oozed confidence and headstrong traits seeping out from her, and it was refreshing to see a change in it.
Since the star is an artist who spent most of his time painting, he's highly perceptive and attentive, despite the bubble of obliviousness piercing the surface. He tends to pay attention to the smallest details most would not think of, which is why it could be seen that he always looked like he's in a deep thought because he's analyzing the said company with him. “I guess it's the paranoia again. It's hard to find someone to talk to about it. It doesn't get better unfortunately, not as good as I thought it would. Call me naive but you seem very trustworthy, Willa, which is precisely why I'm even telling you. As a token of our somewhat friendship, what you would call it” he mused lightly, the curves of his lips tugging on every corner slightly, allowing the smile to travel up to his eyes as it formed a crescent-like shape. Hanseol was a bad liar, if you look close enough in his eyes that really does twinkle like stars most of the time, you can easily detect the truth inside it. His body language was also a given in that.
A part of him just couldn't give into the temptation to do any bad things, even if it's a small lie that would morph into a white lie. Whilst others saw it to be a contributing trait, sometimes he grew frustrated with it since he will never be able to survive properly in this cruel world if he's all sunshine, rainbows and daisies. But maybe that's what differentiates him from others, the fact that he's still trying his best to stay on the happy bricked path even after what he's been through–strong enough to break anyone down. “I wish I could move on so easily, to live on my life like I would my last. But no matter how far I advance, something always seem to pull me back into that dark place that I just couldn't shrug away.” Forgetting was his way, but it wasn't as easy as words could describe. No wonder the phrase ‘easier said than done’ was created in the first place.
However, he would admit that hearing all those words from Willa made him feel a tad better. Man he really does need a life coach on speed dial if this persists. With no other words to utter at that, the celestial only smiled softly as his fingers fumble with the silver bracelet he wore on his left wrist, how long has it been since he's worn it? A little over 85 years for sure because he remembered staring into the words engraved in the charms every night during his imprisonment. “Don't worry, I'd know if you were an Ailward. Never saw them personally, well not all, but I know their names and there's vague description of how each of them liked like, mentally represented instead of physical because a decent haircut job can turn you into someone new, I swear” he'll never get used to the modern day because of how things changed so much since his last time.
“The purple tinge in your eyes gave you away, which I'm sure couldn't have been easy to hide haha.. But it's cool, you guys have wings.” Much like his youthful appearance, Hanseol retained a lot of traits aligned with it, blessing himself with that way of thinking while still having somewhat a more mature mindset. “Though I'll have to ask you.. You said you knew them, are they really what the stories are like? I wanted to believe deep down that they're not as others in my faction make them out to be, but I'm torn.” Perhaps it was a good thing to have that optimistic and innocent-like perception.
The Nephilim was a species of light but even the brightest of species could have darkness and corruption with in them. That had been the case with her father who had lost his mind killing her Uncle and wanting to use the stone to give himself immortality. For Willa, her brother had been what she latched into in order to hold on to her own light. In her darkest of days and times she would write to her brother for guidance and someone to keep her on the right path. When his letters had stop coming she began to fall into a pity of darkness and despair but it was no longer like that, especially now that he was back in her life.
So far Hanseol was just the sweetest and his innocence just seemed to shine a soft glow seeming to come from him and she had a vague memory of what that meant. At times he seemed timid and then she would just light and seemed to have such a large and bright personality that was kept under wraps and she didn’t know why. Though Willa was the sort who took what she wanted in life and was confident in herself and her abilities, she always had been since her parents had taught their children how to be confident and strong. It seemed that maybe Hanseol had never had that but there was something just childlike and pure about him and that gave her an odd sense of being over-protective of him even though they had just met. Anyone who treated her pup with such kindness was someone who deserved the same, even if she was usually rather abrasive.
As Han began to speak once more his words struck her as so genuine and couldn’t help but give him a small smile feeling like he was hiding a lot of pain and other things. Obviously he had to hide such things for some reason and there weren’t many he could trust. “I’d like to say that I am trustworthy but in the past I’ve unfortunately let a few people down but I’d like to think I’ve grown since then.” After all that had mostly been when she was much younger. “When you spend your life running and unable to trust people I know it can get lonely but I can understand why you do that, especially with being a Celestial.” They were a very misunderstood species and they meant no harm but they had once been hunted for the Celestial energy they had. “I…think we can perhaps consider it a friendship.” Or at least a part of her hoped that it could become such. “Though being my friend comes with my fierce sense of being incredibly over protective of adorable creatures.” She teased referring to Han.
Willa could see so much of her younger self in Han and she wanted to help him but she didn’t know how, learning to fully live again was not easy and it was something you often times had to figure out for yourself. “I didn’t move on so easily myself so I understand, it took a lot of time and it took someone pulling me from the darkness. But others and only do so much because it’s something you mostly have to figure out for yourself. I think you do deserve your best life and I know it doesn’t happen when fear holds you back. Sometimes even when you think it’s gone, it just sneaks back in and hold you back and it sucks.” She said in the most simplistic of ways since she really didn’t know what else to say.
What happened to the Celestials was now common knowledge but when she had seen some of the Celestials it had been before they were locked up so some might actually remember her. “Oh I’m definitely not an Ailward,” She said sudden not meaning to make it seem like being one would be a bad thing but that was probably how it sounded. “I used to live on the Isle a long time ago but my mentality was never much like an Ailward Guard or Aspect.” Sure she was very protective but the Ailward oath wasn’t something she could necessarily stand behind, especially not after everything with the Celestials but that was something she didn’t discuss with Venetus. “My hair is about the same as am I, the clothes are just usually a bit more modern and classy.” She responded with a laugh since that definitely wasn’t the case tonight but she had panicked and got here as soon as possible.
“Most tend to overlook the tint and think it’s some weird reflection unless they know what a Nephilim is. The wings are pretty cool.” Though the scars were a very debilitation weakness when struck which was why most Nephilims didn’t like people behind them or literally at their back, especially if they weren’t trusted. At the Celestial’s innocent question she actually had to think it over. “The Ailwards…they aren’t bad people. They’ve always done what they believed was best for the world population as a whole and for what they’re charged over. I’m not sure they’ve ever truly had to consider the consequences in such a way or be faced with those who were wronged when they tried to do what was right. I imagine most in your faction harbor deep hatred for them over what they’ve done but I can promise it was never done out of spite, it may have been the wrong thing to do but it wasn’t done will ill intent.” Willa liked to think that she did know the Aspects well along with many of the Guards and she knew they would never do such a thing out or anger or hatred.
He’s always been so perceptive, though it never really did benefit his obliviousness either. He sees it, but would he do anything about it? Probably not. The level of naivety in Hanseol is very questionable, seeing as he wasn’t supposed to be someone who was just born to the world, much like a pure baby, who knew nothing about what the world would do to the weak. Despite only experiencing the outside world for a little over 3 years, he spent every second of it running away, and only had over 4 months of what felt like an everlasting moment of familiarity to the celestial. His parents were the two people he will never be able to forget no matter what happens to him. It was why the silver bracelet he wore around his right wrist bears a huge significance to the fallen star, it was a ‘birthday’ gift his mother gave him.
The quote ‘carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe omnia’ was engraved on them, which meant to ‘seize the day, seize the night, seize everything’, which surprisingly holds a lot of meaning towards Hanseol today, since he is who he was. A celestial, if he had to live this life being apart from someone who’s supposed to live their entire life running away for survival purposes, then he’s going to do just that. But he’s not a baby, is he? He’s known the bitter side of what the world does to the unfortunate and weak, yet he’s still here, trying to keep an optimistic mind about it. Perhaps that was what made Hanseol stand out, the way his mind works, it’s indescribable. “That’s okay, the whole point about living our lives is to grow and learn from our mistakes, is it not?” he quipped, a child-like grin tugging on his lips as it ghosted over the pain he held inside. It was his mask, to smile and act like nothing bothers him, to go ahead with his life because that’s what survivors do, and after he’s given this second chance to live, he wasn’t about to waste it.
The reminder that he’s a celestial, coming from Willa, made him purse his lips while trying to rethink of all the choices he’s made up to this point. It was his, at the end of the day, nothing will change that, and just because he’s whining about it, the world wasn’t about to change overnight, so if he was going to live, he may as well make it tolerable. “I can never get used to being a celestial, you know,” he chuckled dryly, scratching the back of his head awkwardly as he tried to mesh it together, for all people knew, Han would rather be a human. “But I’m trying my best to get used to it, it’s hard to do that when all you remember is being locked up for 85 years of your life. To most, it doesn’t seem much, but to me, it felt painfully staking slow. I remember trying to count the stars but ended up doing nothing because I couldn’t find any. Losing hope and will to fight is the worst thing that could happen to any person.” And for a while, that was him. His eyes lit up in delight, crinkling it into a crescent-like eye smile, as he gleefully took that as an invitation. Hanseol didn’t have many friends, hell, did he even have them?
But much like what the nephilim said, living your life alone couldn’t possibly be idealistic and the celestial wanted to be nowhere near that when he has all the resources to make it right again. He blushed profusely and tried to cover his cheeks shyly under the light after hearing that compliment from her. He doesn’t get them usually, so that’s also a new thing for him. “Oh well, I guess that’s why Bifrost seemed resilient, much like the owner, huh?” he teased, bringing back the half volume Willa threw around earlier. She really did exude that wisdom and maturity around her, it could be interpreted as something surreal and overwhelming for most people, but for the star who’s met plenty of people with different backstories during his travels shortly before being captured, he could understand that. But through all of that, he could see that there’s indeed more than what meets the eye about her. Perhaps she chose to cover herself with a layer of facade to keep herself on the toes. “I don’t have anyone to pull me back from the darkness, unfortunately. I guess it doesn’t happen as easily. I’m glad you’re out of it, it must’ve been riveting.” But he didn’t need anyone to pull him, right? He can manage just fine with himself.
Finding a friend in Willa sounded too good to be true, how is it that someone so shy and timid like Hanseol, could find anywhere near her good graces? Han wondered what kind of mentality the Ailwards possessed, both guards and aspects. Were they any different from what they thought of? So hearing the revelation spilled by Willa sparked his curiosity while also diffusing the tension whirring in his head. Alas, he was able to find someone who knew them personally and could tell a different story from their perspectives. Normally, the dark-haired celestial who looked too innocent for his own good, would be vengeful about it, strangely enough, though all those years in captivity was sure to change a person. But now, after hearing what the Ailwards were supposed to stand for, it made him wonder if he should give them a chance. No, he probably should.
He might be young in appearance wise and perhaps, his way of thinking might interfere in that too, but the star also possessed some traits that asserted a few open-minded and wisdom in them. He had to learn to see the bigger picture for his own sake, and he’s gradually getting better in trying to do that. “I’m glad I was able to hear another’s voice in this. I wanted to believe that not everything and everyone has an ulterior motive behind them, and I guess you could say I didn’t exactly have the best experience in that particular department,” he grinned sheepishly, the way he had tried to keep a level headed manner shows just how much he wished to see his expectations come to reality.
“You can’t always please everyone, I guess…” he mumbled faintly, maybe he had to think what he’d do if he’s in their shoes. No, he wouldn’t be able to. Not because he’s righteous or anything near that, but because the doe-eyed celestial would never be able to hurt anyone by choice, it made him a viable target too. But he didn’t have to care for everyone, so he wasn’t able to say anything about the Ailwards. “Well, if it makes you feel better, you still rock the PJs, and at least this says you’re a very good owner to that pup. I have one of my own, you know. A Pomeranian too, a devilish little creature called Yeontan. No doubt he’s probably somewhere in the house, annoying the hell out of his husky sister, Byul.”
Hanseol was so sweet and innocent and it was both refreshing and worrisome to Willa since people like that were often taken advantage of in life and she didn’t want that for him. “I think the whole point to living our lives is to enjoy the time that we have and make the most of it. Though if bad things do happen to learn from them and not make the same mistakes of the past.” But everyone had different views on life depending on what they had seen and been through. That was just how things tended to work. Having lived as only a protector of something important for so long it was nice to just be Willa and to learn what that meant again.
Willa had never disliked or hated the Ailward but the words that left Han’s lips broke her heart. The idea of trying to find any sense of hope and there being nothing, not even stars when you were one. It seemed like such a bleak situation. Even though she knew the Ailward hadn’t done it out of spite it still seemed so cruel when hearing it from the side of a Celestial. “When most of your time on earth has been spent locked away it’s hard to get used to or enjoy what you happen to be. Most after all would think that being immortal would be a gift but truly it was a curse the way it happened and the stipulations which came with it.” So she could understand something being both a negative and a positive and not being used to it. “I can imagine how slow it must have seemed with nothing to do and no outlet. Seven hundred years has passed incredibly slow just because of being away from the only person who knew me and loved me. So I understand how time can move slowly in certain situations.” After all Willa felt like she had been alive for over a thousand years at this point even though she wasn’t close to being that old.
“My dog does tend to take after me in that way, though she’s far more cuddly than I usually am.” She said in a joking tone since Han was right Bifrost was pretty resilient and he did love the fluffy little guy. It was strange how much she cared about the small dog, especially when she hadn’t wanted him in the first place. Coming upon him had been an accident but much like Han, he had been small, innocent and vulnerable which had pulled at her heart strings even though she pretended to be hard hearted. Frowning a bit at his words of not having anyone she felt herself being far too soft but she couldn’t help it. “If you don’t have someone then pull yourself out, remember the good times you’ve had. Or maybe I can help but I know it can mean a lot more from someone closer to you.” Though she wasn’t sure he had too many people to truly count on in life.
Speaking and defending the Ailwards was probably not the best thing to do in front of a Celestial but she was in no way defending what they had done because it had crushed the hopes of an entire species. It wasn’t alright but she knew it hadn’t been done from a place of hate. “I don’t want to sound false or like I’m a bit crazy, but I’m not going to let anything happen to you Han. Even if it does involve standing up to people I respect because they did still put you in a terrible position for a very long time.” But she didn’t foresee something like that happening again since most of them seemed to be apologetic over what happened, other than those who liked to keep their true thoughts to themselves. “Not everyone wants something from you or have ulterior motives but some too so it’s not a bad thing to weary of people in life.” Even though she hated to say it, not everyone wanted the best for you which was unfortunately a sad situation.
“You can’t always please everyone but you can’t always save everyone either and trying can cause a massive amount of problems.” Which was where the Ailward went wrong, they were trying to protect and save a species without seeing if that was what they wanted. There had to have another way but hadn’t considered it, though Willa tried not to judge because she hadn’t been there and had no idea how hard of a decision it was. A smile spread across her lips at Han’s words, “Well he’s the most important guy in my life so I’ve got to make sure he’s alright.” Other than her brother Bifrost was her favorite guy, though it was best not to tell her brother that she often compared him to a dog but at least he always came out on top. “That’s adorable, Bifrost would probably like someone to play with but I don’t think he would like always having to share me. But maybe we could do a doggie play date or something.” She said with a small smile.
Hanseol was either one of the two, he's A or B, and it all depends on who he's talking to and what the situation is. It doesn't worry him as much when it comes down to interacting because he usually doesn't emit any hostile energy that would warrant anyone's suspicions. He was shy and timid, or at least that's what people see when they meet his eyes. Star couldn't even lie to save his life because his eyes would always show the truth underneath it. He hoped that he didn't come off as too forward to the female Nephilim, Willa exuded a certain kind of energy that Han usually wouldn't pay another glance at. Nothing offensive, far from it. She had this intimidating air around her and for Han, who's very used to being shy around anyone else, long story short you don't usually see a shy guy advancing anywhere more than a greeting. It was easy as that.
But he likes her, she's a breath of fresh air and despite his timid stature, he seemed to have a magnet for attracting strong and daring people. "That's an interesting way to say it" he quipped with a smile. "I don't think anyone wants to make the same mistakes of the past, but sometimes people can't help what they do. It's weird but it's not exactly impossible to believe." Han was never one to dwell with the past, he didn't have much of a life before this anyway, what changed? No point in dwelling in the past if it's only going to hurt him later on. "You're not wrong when you say many thought of immortality as a gift instead of a curse. And perhaps they may be right and we may be wrong… or we could be right and they're the wrong ones. In the end, what does it matter anyway though? Truth is subjective. People say that. But they don't want to face the actual truth because nobody wants to know what the bitterness felt like. I can understand that. If I was given the chance to choose, I wouldn't want either." His days being locked up in a cell wasn't exactly the kind of memory he wanted to look forward to remembering. Why would he bother if he's not going to feel anywhere near comfortable with it?
Sometimes it's better for the individual to close their eyes and turn a blind eye if it will affect them badly. But the justifications wouldn't hold for it. "I don't have many people with me before. Not as much as now, at least. Before, I only had my adoptive father and mother. And even then, I actually only spend my time with the both of them less than 3 months. But it was worth every moment. Before, I didn't have a friend. Now, I have them. I found many good people here. I even found love" he chuckled, it was ironic. Hanseol had been someone who doesn't want much, he's happy and satisfied enough by waiting and watching. Yet he found all of those things anyone would have ever wanted. In a sense, Han viewed himself lucky. "700 years is a long time to be away from someone you care for… I can't imagine the pain." His crestfallen expression was spot on, he didn't think he can spend more than what he's spent in the cell. Not if he's going to end up living a miserable lonely life. "Usually cuddly people don't say they're cuddly. So there you have it" he winked playfully and chuckled heartily. Bifrost was quite well-behaved and he expected nothing less than discipline that the little fluff learned from its owner.
"I try not to dwell too much on it. I want to make new friends but it's hard. Even when I do have friends, what's the chances that we'll be able to confide with one another? I'm just scared once they find out how broken I used to be… or still am, they'd leave me. You know nobody wants to be left alone, right?" Upon saying those words, he could feel himself growing smaller and his voice more timid. It felt like the world was slowly closing in on him. His hand stopped twirling the ballpoint pen around his fingers when he heard her assure him that he wasn't gonna get hurt anymore. "That's…a lot, I mean… That means a lot to me, Willa… thank you," he's never had one who would like to take care of him this much. "I'm glad there are still good people in the world, it reminds me that it doesn't always have to be gloomy. I'll take your word for it, I don't think they themselves did it out of personal grudge or something. The same reason for how the Isle fell apart… I didn't want that to happen either but it just did. It wasn't as if I could do anything to prevent it, much less stop it." He remembered watching it fell, an island so beautiful torn apart like that, it felt… wrong.
"I don't wish to generalize people from a sliver. The entire carton shouldn't be ruined from just a few rotten eggs, right?" The way he carried himself, even by the way he talked, everything about Han screamed innocence and sometimes it became a great advantage for him because others wanted to shroud him with a protective cloak. He was eternally grateful for it. "It's always the road between the two," he paused momentarily and pursed his lips, staring back into her hues, "you're either selfish or selfless. Many people would like they say they're neutral. And I don't mean to say that everything is black or white. It doesn't work that way. There's complexity in life. You can be both… you are both. You can be selfless for others while still being selfish to save them, the people you care for, at the cost of the others you don't know. That's human nature. It's volatile and chaotic. Unpredictable." A smile rose up to the corner of his lips as he grinned bashfully, "That's life." Lately, he's been going on the optimism path, it's turning out great.
"Bifrost will be fine, I assure you. 100% guaranteed, Miss," he saluted teasingly and snickered wryly, the mention about both their puppies having a playdate together did cause Han to break out a big smile. "Yeontan would love a playmate that's for sure. He's a mischievous little being but maybe he'll slow down or at least divert all of the consumed energy to another puppy instead of ruining my papers." With that, he got his phone out and pushed it towards her. "I would give you my business card but I also would like to call you as a friend. Personally." A business card where his name was written was also offered to her.
Hanseol was very interesting to talk to, he had a youthful innocence about him but he was also wiser than many likely gave him credit for. Life after all was all about prospective, how you saw things and how you handled what happened or what was done to you. For the longest time Willa hadn’t handled the burden she’d been placed with well and even less so after thinking she had lost her brother. After all no matter how old you happened to be you were always learning and growing and she was finally trying to be the best version of herself and who she hadn’t been able to be since her options of having a life had been ripped from her at a young age. That was something she didn’t want for Han and he seemed to be very optimistic about his current situation which was incredibly since she wasn’t sure she would be able to say the same if she were placed in the same boat that he was.
“You’re right though, mistakes are classified as such because they aren’t intentional. And sometimes depending on the situation they can’t be changed and are at times repeated, though there are the rare one offs where different consequences occur.” Though it was rather rare indeed since things usually played out much in the same way. “I believe immortality can easily be viewed either way and at times it might even be viewed differently at different times of your life. Immortality doesn’t seem as bad these days now that I at least have something to live for and someone important back in my life. Sometimes it bitter and seems never ending and then someone there are small moments or people you meet who make you grateful for having been alive so long.” She stated honestly since that was definitely the case in her life.
“I had to run from my home with just the clothes on my back and a cursed stone I wanted nothing more than to throw away but knowing it needed to be protected. So I understand my family had issues and the only person I was really sad to leave was my mom and then having to stay so far away from my brother was incredibly hard since we had been nearly inseparable.” She smiled as he spoke of what he had found opposed to what he had lost, “I’ve very happy, everyone deserves sunshine in their life, especially after such a harsh storm.” Though as he spoke of being cuddly people she couldn’t help but stick her tongue out playfully at him.
“Han, everyone is broken or has been broken in their own way. Especially those who have lived as long as we have. Battle scars are normal for life and that doesn’t make you broken, that makes you a survivor.” She said before pulling him into a very uncharacteristic hug wanting him to feel secure and know that he was alright just the way he was. “Not everyone is good but many of just still remain, maybe the bad that’s happened to us has made us that way or maybe we’ve always been that way and kept it through the bad, I really don’t know. But I do have your back Han.” Which seemed like something he could use in his life.
In the middle of him talking she received a text from work and tried to focus on both things which were happening. Willa had every intention of calling out of work but apparently the collection on loan for London had just come in which meant it needed to be inspected before being put on display. A small groan left her. “Let me put my phone number in your phone and then I apparently have to head out to work…well home first. I don’t think they would appreciate my current attire.” Taking the phone he offered her, she typed her name and phone number into her phone and saved it for him before pressing call so it rang her. After rejecting the call she saved his number in her phone as well. “Let me know what it’s alright to come pick up Bifrost and if you need anything, even if it’s just to talk or say hi.” She said giving him a smile before heading out before stopping at the door. “Goodbye…..friend.”
Compared to most fallen stars, Hanseol remained one of those who are younger. But as young as he was, he's still 90 years old, and when he thought about it, in a way, it suited him. Not too young nor too old. As far as things go, Hanseol was still very perceptive about his surroundings. If there was anything that seems a little too out of the depth, he would pack up and leave right there, on the spot, without any care in the world. Paranoia does that to you, and he's been locked up for most part of his life not to get used to it. There were days when he would always find himself looking back on his shoulders, knowing fully well that there would always be impending danger waiting to strike when the time is right aka the moment he lets his guard down.
Nostalgia has a way to bite them back like a rabid dog, leaving a pungent smell and bitter aftertaste that never be replaced by anything else. Perhaps if something worse were to come, it could change the ranks and hierarchy, but that particular memory of being locked up against their will, that one will always be embedded inside his head. It was refreshing to see someone understood the feeling and knew how much it can affect a person. "Your views are interesting, Willa. Spoken like a true and wise person, guess it suits you just as much. Mine does not contradict yours, but I have so many things to learn about, I am still young compared to many, after all. I just hope I'll have the time to do so" he spoke softly, come to think of it, he was glad he stayed back today rather than leaving the place to his co-worker.
Otherwise, he would not have met the nice Nephilim standing before him now. And he would never have made another friend. He did inwardly flinch slightly knowing that the poor girl had to fled her home with just herself because of a curse, what an unfortunate way to live her life. He was sad to see her leave but that didn't mean he wouldn't be able to see her again, right? Not when she is asking for his phone number, for once in his life after a while, he was happy to give it to her. To someone. Typing in his phone, he offered her a smile, "I will. It was nice to meet you, Willa." The word friend stuck around though. It definitely did.
