Nayoung stared intently at her cellphone, the number of Ivory poised on the screen and ready for dialing. It had been nearly a year since she left Evermore City in search of her sister’s murderer. There was no warning, she just up and left in the middle of the night, caught a red-eye flight to Korea, and began her search where it all began. She hadn’t even told Ivory where she was going, or even what she was doing, it was just a last minute decision on a sleepless night. When her best friend did call her, Nayoung declined the call because she was afraid that Ivy would be able to convince her to return without completing her mission. The young brunette let loose a long, loud sigh and shut her phone off, setting it beside her on the couch. The young Nephilim stretched out on the couch and yawned, her fingers curled around the remote on the edge of the couch arm and pointed it to the television. Channel by channel she searched for something to watch, then something on the news had caught her attention. It was a news channel, and there were police and ambulance personnel at the location. Turning the volume up, she listened as the reporter talked about a brutal murder that had occurred moments ago.
“Police have yet been able to identify a person-of-interest in the string of murders that have been occurring on Jeju Island” she listened intently to the reports. “With no new information on suspects, the police are issuing an island-wide curfew, as well as increasing patrols around the island. If anybody has any information regarding these murders, or the murderer, they should call the police immediately”. They then warned viewers that what they were about to show was not for the faint of heart and that if any children were in the room they should leave. Afterwards the reporter began showing photos of the crime scene, and the victim. That was when she saw it, the bloody wounds on her back, consistent with those of her sister’s when the guy had stripped her of her wings with his sword. Nayoung nearly vomited at the sight, but she knew immediately that the victim had been a Nephilim like her; and it wasn’t just that victim. All of the victims in the string of murders had been the same, Nephilim with their wings removed. It had to be him.

The following morning, Nayoung packed her belongings and headed for Jeju Island. The beautiful island which was normally full of tourists, was slowly becoming a ghost town because of the murders. When she reached the island and got settled into her hotel, the first thing she did was go visit the police station and talk to the investigator in charge of the murder case. She claimed to be a private investigator, here at the request of a client whose child was missing and was last seen on Jeju Island for a school trip. “The parents are very worried that the Jeju Slasher is going to hurt their daughter, and asked me to find her as soon as possible before it was too late” she lied very believably. “I’m very sorry miss, but nobody matching the description you gave has been spotted on any of our patrols. We’ve been making sure to take note of everyone we see and she just hasn’t been seen” replied the police officer. “If I may ask, where do your patrols end? Do they reach the entirety of the island?” she queried curiously. If their searches didn’t cover the entire island, those places would be the first place she looked. “Our patrols mostly stick to the limits of the town, unless we spot something suspicious. We then report it to the station here, and move outside the town limits to investigate it. However our main priority right now is keeping the citizens as safe as possible” He responded. “Well I guess I’ll have to expand the search outside the town myself. Please keep an eye out for the missing child” she said with a smile and gave the officer her number. “I strongly suggest you stay within the town limits, Miss Choi. If you go outside of our patrols, we won’t be able to protect you” he commented in a stern tone to show his authority. “Well unless I find this girl I don’t get paid, so I have to. Besides, I can handle myself just fine” she replied before leaving the police station.
Nayoung returned to her hotel and gathered everything that she would need for her expedition into the surrounding area. Of course she was going to need to go into town and gather some much needed items as well. Once she had everything ready, she headed to the outskirts of the town. She had no intention of returning without completing her quest to find answers, and if this was as far as she went, she would be with her sister once again. The young Nephilim had been hiking for hours, and shortly after she began, her hike had led her into a forested area. It was now starting to get dark, and Nayoung decided to set up camp for the night and continue in the morning. As she sat near the campfire, Nayoung looked at her phone and huffed in frustration a little. “No service” she commented and shoved the phone back in her pocket. What did she expect would happen so far from town, to have full service everywhere on the island? That was only foolish hope at this point. As she prepared to lay down and rest, she heard the snapping of a twig nearby and quickly reached for the sword she had with her. As her eyes scanned the surrounding area, she saw a couple of rabbits running through the trees. “Get a grip Nayoung” she told herself and proceeded to get some sleep.
When morning came, the young brunette packed her things and headed off again in search for answers; both for herself and the people of Jeju Island. Days passed by, one after the other, with nothing to show for it. Nayoung was beginning to think that the Jeju Slasher had either left the island, or was hiding out in town somewhere, right under the noses of the police. She was just about to give up her search as night fell on the 5th day of searching, when she caught the scent of smoke. Someone had a fire going, and she proceeded to follow the scent cautiously, her hands gripped tightly around the hilt of her sword as she walked. She soon found herself standing in front of a cabin, and she found herself smiling slightly. “This has got to be…” she began before feeling something stab into her neck. Reaching up to the area of her neck that had the pain, she pulled an empty syringe out of her neck and turned to see a male standing there as she collapsed to the ground; the world around her going black.
When she finally woke up from her drug induced slumber, everything around her was black. She could barely see her hands in front of her as she felt around the area. The floor was hard, and cold; and as she tapped it with her knuckles she knew that it was some type of metal. Standing on her feet, she walked forward, looking for a light or something, and walked right into the iron bars of a cage. Nayoung stumbled backward and fell on her ass, cursing out as she hit the floor. A laugh broke the silence in the room, and the light above her turned on, the male who had drugged her moments ago standing on the other side of the cage. “So you finally found me after all this time little Angel” he said in a soft tone. “Not that it did you much good now did it?” he questioned her with a short laugh. “WHO ARE YOU!? WHY DID YOU KILL MY SISTER!?” she yelled furiously at her captor. “Temper temper little angel. Yelling won’t get you the answers you’re looking for…” he began with a slight pause. “...besides, I have questions of my own” he finished with a stern tone. “However, right now it’s time for bed, so get comfortable” he stated as he pointed to the corner of the cell to the bed. “We’ll talk soon” he said with a grin and left the room, making sure to turn off the light over her head, and turn on another light. The new light that turned on, shone on a pair of white wings hung on the wall near her cell, under the wings a small nameplate… YUNA CHOI written in all capital letters. As the door closed she heard the male laugh maniacally, and she fell to her knees, tears flooding from her eyes.
