Christmas.

That has always been his most favored festivity in all his life. He's lived it for a while. His life might all consist over 85 years locked in captivity in a steel cage, but it didn't mean he had to live his freedom thinking it will always be that way. Though he is still plagued by his nightmares and the terrors that reminded him what it felt being locked, with no hopes given whatsoever. He's gradually recovering from it as the days pass by, but the paranoia will always be there to sink in. As a Celestial, he was likely to be hunted down for his abilities.

It scared him how powerful greedy people would do about anything to gain what they wanted. He lives his days, being highly attentive of his surroundings, mainly because he didn't want to be a target to anyone. Hanseol wanted to live his life normally, as normal a supernatural creature could have, by the very least. But the brunette had made a new friend recently, a dhampir called Jaesung Moon, a Korean native much like himself. But their personality differ, although they connected on a few similarities being quiet and introverted. The star was glad he had someone to talk to, as he wasn't the best when it comes to socializing or befriending people. Hence, his social rank being quite questionable.

Having to only lived his life or 3 years, Hanseol were quite foreign to the modern days but he liked festivities. Especially Christmas. He never had the chance to celebrate it before, and when he came visiting the general hospital of Evermore last week, where he was admitted as a patient due to him being reckless and fracturing his shoulder, he saw how many of the decorations were sprawled across the lobby up to the elevators. But the patients, he wondered if they would have no one to spend Christmas with. He found the situation to be very similar to that of his. And so, the doe eyed Celestial decided to do a small gesture of good will for them. He didn't have family, therefore he had no one to celebrate anything with and whilst the Celestials were so much of a part of his family, he was hard to get by.

Sneaking into the section, he used the stairwells to get to the patients' room. He started off with the Pediatrician ward, where children became the main patients. He had presents wrapped neatly in his duffel bag. Due to him being a Celestial, any supernatural could sense his light radiating, but he wasn't aware that there were any supernatural residents there. Unlocking the door, he made sure his steps were as silent as they could get before unzipping his bag, pulling out a present to put on the table by the bedside of a sleeping girl who looked no more than 10. "You poor girl.. have a merry Christmas." Smiling to himself, the star caressed the sleeping patient's hair softly. He had spent the entire day yesterday to wrap all the presents that Jae sent by per his request.

Serena wasn’t grinchy, she didn’t hate Christmas, you couldn’t if you worked in with children and got to witness how much happiness the holiday brought them, the anticipation over gifts, time together and all activities. The blonde didn’t cherish Christmas either. Her experience from Christmas weren’t as joyful as the kids. Her memory of it, from not too many years ago didn’t evolve around joy or family time. It was a stressful social season where you expected to just be shown off as a trophy and everyone just tried to out shine the other with fund raisers and extravagant parties.

After moving away from home she barley celebrated Christmas. Firstly she had no one to celebrate with. She had always been focusing on her career determined to prove the world wrong that she was meant for more than just be a pretty face, which resulted in very few relations. Secondly the hospital was in great need of workers during all holidays. Since she didn’t have a family of her own Serena felt obliged to take on shifts so the other doctors could go home to their families. The young surgeon now mastered 3 specialties so she could cover many positions with the main focus in paediatric.

For days the vampire had promised herself to buy the the presents for the kids forced to stay at the hospital over Christmas but every time she left the hospital she was paged back in. It was always extra busy during the holidays both more patients and less staff although this year must’ve set some kind of record. She had asked the nurses to set up the decorations and smaller stations where you could decorate your own Christmas sweater or make your own ornaments but seemed like they were busy too. So she was rather surprised when visiting a child she had operated on last night and his room was decorated with presents under a small tree. Maybe his parents had decorated his room during the day?

”Hi Ellie, how’s your tummy today? And did you happen to see who decorated your room so lovely” Serena asked as the next room she walked in to also was prepped for Christmas. ”A christmas Elf” The young girl responded giggling as she hid her face under her duvet. After checking her wound the vampire exited the room curious to meet the Elf helping to bring the children joy. A light only visible to extra sensitive eyes caught her attention, maybe this was the secret gift bringer she thought and followed it. ”So its you I have to thank for bringing the children such joy” She asked warmly smiling friendly at a dark haired celestial who was just about to cover the edge of a mirror in glitter.

He stared at the blonde girl who was sleeping soundly; she looked cute and pretty. It brought a soft smile to creep up as the doe eyed Celestial mumbled something in his mother tongue and was about to decorate the mirror. Up until he was interrupted of course. That had successfully caused the male to let out a small yelp of surprise upon finding out he was discovered. Turning around to the source of the feminine voice, he however was very relieved to see it wasn't one of the patients. He should've known better it wouldn't be a patient since he was in the pediatric wing, where it was filled with children from various age range. But sometimes Hanseol can be quite dense. It was one of his charms, simply.

His dark hues clashed with her bright blue ones. There, standing before him by the door was a blonde doctor, who he had judged from the coat she was wearing. His eyes had caught on her name tag that was etched on her doctor's coat. Dr. Serena Hamilton. She must've been a pediatrician. Slightly placing the glass filled with glitter aside on the table near him, he cleared his throat a few times before speaking. "I swear it wasn't my intention to break in the patients' rooms- wait what?" He had rambled on trying to convince her that he wasn't a bad man trying to take advantage of the holiday season, where the festivity had disabled others from spending them in the hospital. It was only then, that he noticed she wasn't actually being negative to him. Surprisingly.

Instead, she was thanking him for bringing the children such joy. Oh, that's a new one.

Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, the dark haired star grinned sheepishly. "I am currently a patient here, of course not here in the pediatric wing, seeing as I'm obviously not a child-" There he goes again, babbling. It was a habitual trait for the Celestial. Somehow, despite living his life in captivity all these decades, that still has not left him. He should be grateful he had a reminder of his old life, but could you blame him for feeling very shy about it? "Sorry.", he apologized promptly before continuing. "I just thought they should celebrate Christmas. They couldn't celebrate it with their families back home, that's saying for those who had one. For people who doesn't have one, like me, it's upsetting to see them being so somber and gloomy." He noticed his voice went a bit squeaky and higher than usual when he talked about the part of not having a family to celebrate it with. "If I could do something about it, why not, right? From 100%, if I could lessen their burden and sadness by even 99% or 98%, it would have been worth it."

The celestial looked as he expected someone to come and yell at him and even more surprise when she didn’t. Having people wandering around the hospital wasn’t very popular the security teams had trouble keeping up as it was so when someone was seen lurking around it wasn’t a friendly encounter. Also decorations weren’t allowed in most parts of the hospital as it could be home for millions of bacterias and for already weak patients it could have tremendous consequences. As long as the decorations weren’t moved from room to room and not close to the beds Serena couldn’t see any reasons to take them down and as department head she would probably get the final say.

”Hi, I am Serena, surgeon here and down at trauma and neurology, I hope you are doing better and have gotten great care”The vampire introduced herself, without offering a hand shake. A common way to  transmit diseases. She hadn’t seen the male before so he was probably in one of the medical departments. Truth be told she rarely saw patients more than an hour a day. Otherwise she was in surgery or looking at scans. Nurses handled the everyday contact and knew the patients habits.

She could sense some nervousness in the male who was probably shy as herself but instead of getting quiet when he was nervous he talked. It was sad that he had no family to spend his Christmas with and the blonde felt bad for ignoring hers. ”I am sure they loved what you did” She assured him with a warm smile she could already hear many of the children overjoyed with the change. ”If you like you could help setting up some of the DIY stations” She offered.

Hanseol will admit, he was used to being caught red-handed. Not that he did anything really. All the naysayers would say that he wasn't supposed to do this nor that, but the young Celestial knew when is the right moment to do such things. He knew what's right and what's wrong. But yes, it is still fairly possible to see the doe eyed Celestial to be in some trouble sometimes. He's a reckless rebel. A doer, per say. He had kept his hands to himself, folding it behind him as he sheepishly grin at the blonde vampire doctor before his eyes. The mirror was partially finished, since he just needed to add a few more decorations to adjust the angles.

When the doctor introduced herself, he paid attention attentively as he listened to every word she had to say. "Hello. I'm Hanseol, a patient here. Well, the level above, at least." He mumbled, as he lifted his arm up, indicating it was the exact position to where she suffered an injury at. Like he's said before, he's a reckless guy. A reckless star. That sounded way much funnier in his head with all honesty. Upon hearing that she said they would probably be happy with what he's done for the place, despite being minimal, he was thrilled. It was somewhat prerequisite for him to be surrounded by happy vibes that trenched with positivity. God knows how much he needed those. If there were pills, he'd probably overdose on them.

"I'm glad to hear that. Christmas is about spending your time catering to people's happiness." At least to him, it was. He wasn't that close to any other Celestials and most of his acquaintances or friends were occupied in such a short notice. So if he wasn't down at his clinic, tending to the animals, he would probably settle for a Netflix Christmas movie at his place. It's a boring procedure, really. Even if he was a good cook, who would he cook for? So when Serena told him there were DIY stations, he was excited to get his work started on. "I would love to set those up."

Breaking rules had never been the vampire’s thing. The blonde had yet to come to the rebellious phase, but then she was had only lived for 28 years and stopped ageing around 20. All of her life she had followed all rules possible. Driving after the limits, always arriving on time and doing her homework. The most out of line thing she had preformed was going to med school without her parents approval. Which was a strange thing in itself, to get their children into med school seemed to be every parents dream but of course it wasn’t her parents desire. Maybe she would try to break free from the system some day and have a troublesome period of life, it didn’t feel like it she liked her seemingly dull life but who knew what the future would hold.

Orthopaedics, a department she consulted with daily and had had an exfiancé building a career within seemed to be where Hanselo had been treated and from the looks of it the injury had healed properly. War wounds, burns and fractures were the most common things hurting the supernatural population. Human diseases didn’t bite on them. However most never got a doctor to oversee it as they healed quickly and had a faction healer.

”Wonderful I just have to check up on someone while you finish up here then we can turn this place into Santa’s village” She suggested  glancing down at her pager that had started vibrating during their short conversation. Tending to three specialties was certainly time consuming which lead to an eternally buzzing pager.

Unlike Serena, Hanseol wasn’t sure if he’s been a rule bender or the one who follows everything accordingly. After all, the Celestial has only lived about what- 3 years of his life before he was shortly captured by the Ailward guards and held captive for 85 years of his life? An average human’s life, not likely. Maybe not. Adding the 2 years after he was finally released to the world following his wayfinder’s rescue. Altogether, Hanseol’s only lived his life for 5 years, nearing 6. Technically he would’ve been a child of 6 years old if they were counting right, perhaps that’s the reason for his rather impeccable manner that is a slight contrast with childishness occasionally.

So maybe he really did fit in within the pediatrician wing. He smiled briefly in all of his gratefulness as the female went on to do whatever she intended to do. Unzipping the duffle bag he had, the Celestial got a few stuff out from the compartments. There were quite literally plenty of decorations and gifts alike stored in there. Dragging the balloons around as he made his way to the DIY makeshift station, he blew on them and made a few animal ones according to what skill he had under his sleeves. Soon enough, the entire shelf was already decorated with plenty of animal balloons. However, just as he was holding up the glitter bottle, he struggled with the cap and accidentally opened the cap a bit too hard, it actually got out and made a mess. “Well.. This is unexpected.”

The little machine told her that one of the kids needed her attention, which was a relief no new incoming trauma, and no mission across the hospital that she needed to run to, fearing that when she arrived it would be to late. As the hospital was mostly humans she had to move human speed to which was hard when she knew that every second counted and she was forced to what was snail pace to her. After talking to the nurses she got directed to a young boys room who was a frequent flyer at the hospital due to a chronic disease.

She was met by his parents who was overjoyed with the decorations Hanseol had put up, and wanted to express their gratitude. Gratefulness was something she didn’t know how to tackle so usually she never took credit for a successful surgery or quick recovery leaving it to her interns to deliver the good news and the following wave of joy and hugging. She slowly backed out of the room asking them to wait just a second while she went to get someone.

”Hanseol there is people here that would like to have a word with you” She said softly peeking in to the open door and facing a sparkling mess. The doctor suppressed a giggle as she took the stars hand and lead him to the little boys waiting parents. ”Here is the one you should thank for the christmasy feeling” she informed them introducing the glitter covered celestial.

Hanseol tried his best to close the cap properly as he fumbled with the cap once again. There was literally a war ensuing between the two, as the Celestial struggled against the tight grip he was imbuing in his physical strength. If anyone was to see the scene before their eyes, they would think that he had a life long rivalry with the glitter bottle itself, if that was even possible. But then again, the bunny-like male exuded an air that was either the reluctant of his innocence or how he wanted to fight everything in his path; yes, even non-living things. While he was busying himself with cleaning up the mess he’s made in the DIY section table, his train of thoughts and movement was interrupted by Serena, who came around the door frame not long after.

Looking up from his balloon strings, he frowned lightly before wondering what the vampire doctor would possibly need him for. At first, he thought he was in deep trouble considering the mess he’s made at the counter, and yes on himself. But since he had cleaned up the counter as fast as his hand could allow him to do so, it shouldn’t be any problem at all. “There are people who wanted to have a word with me? Why?” The twinkle in his dark mocha doe hues made the fallen star look more innocent by another glance. He pondered briefly and hoped he wasn’t in any trouble, though judging from the look on the blonde, he was fine.

But before he could say any other words, he was dragged away by Serena, who seemed to find the previous situation that befell the unfortunate Celestial, funny. Well, truthfully, anyone else would have a laugh at the star upon seeing the current mess he’s in. Passing by the hallway’s mirror, he got a good look on himself. Boy, was he a glittery mess. Now that was not what he thought he’d be in today. When he was led into a boy’s room, he saw the parents and bowed 90 degrees before offering a small smile. “Pleased to meet you, Mr and Mrs Hansen. To what do I owe this eventful meeting?”

”I think they just wished to thank you for decorating their son’s room and making it feel like Christmas” Serena said softly fiddling with a pen in her pocket. She was usually only forced to interact with families and friends when explaining a procedure or discussing a treatment plan so discussing normal stuff was still strange. It was kind of scary, not knowing which words could possibly offend or upset but the shy doctor had become quite good at orienting through the social stuff. Still she never crossed the line from being personal to private and conversations outside of her work role still made her uncomfortable.

”This nice gentleman has agreed to lead one of the DIY stations so you’ll plenty of time to than him” She said smiling at the young kid who watched the sparkly celestial with a curious look. ”Actually I think they are ready for you” the blonde continued bowing down beside the boys bed and reaching her hand out for him to take it. When he did she lead him out to the corridor where almost all of the  paediatrics residents had collected to engage in the DIY stations. ”Where should we start Starboy?” She asked looking back at Hanseol letting him decide what to do next.

It was safe to say that his recklessness tonight did not get the medal from him. Stumbling over his steps wasn’t something he wanted to do, much less spilling the glittery content from the bottle and now making a huge mess at the DIY station and on himself. Reality really couldn’t give him a break, can it? As he struggled to get to where Serena was, he only offered a small sheepish grin to the parents. Bowing over 90 degrees their way, to say he’s glad he was able to bring a smile on someone else’s face, would be a clear understatement. Hanseol knew how lonely things can get for people at times, especially when they were having festivity seasons over. It would cause a psychological warfare inside their tiny little heads, and he did not wish to see more of that to occur to pure souls.

“I’m only doing my job as a concerned citizen is all, ma’am, sir.” he mused softly, when a jolly grin made its way up to his lips as he trained his dark hues on the child who looked no more than 11. It’s saddening to see a soul so youthful to suffer the complications of the strange world. His eyes glazed over the clipboard attached to the end of the bed. The poor child is suffering from severe hypothermia. When the blonde accompanied the child to the DIY station, he trailed behind. Up until he saw just how many people had gathered around the place, it made him beam in delight. For a while, he wondered what he should go with. He used to have plenty of ideas going around but there’s a stent in his head right now. “Uh..Maybe you guys can start by writing a wishing card to your intended people.” He pulled out a stack of wish cards and pens.

”Sounds like a plan” Serena agreed, the blonde noticed that the celestial had grown more quite and introvert since just a few hours ago when he was exuberant by ideas and creativity. Did her shadows that came with being a valkyr affect him that much? His radiating light was slowly burning through the shadows surrounding her. The kind doctor however didn’t pressure Hanseol, she let him be in his own world for a little while and sat with one of the kids in her lap helping her cut out snowflakes from a white cardboard. Having patients so near your scrubs wasn’t optional due to the infection risk but she had no planned surgeries for the day, it was her day to supervice the interns and residents, and was she to be called in for something emergent she’d prioritise a change in clothes first.

Everything was calm and joyful, Serena and Hanseol had gone from card making to gingerbread decorating, until suddenly it wasn’t. A loud beeping interrupted everyones fun and prepared them for the announcement to come. Although it was not the expected Merry Christmas or Happy New Years that blasted from the speakers, it was LOCKDOWN INITIATED that went on repeat and everything went chaotic. Some screamed others froze but most people just looked confused at the hospital staff not knowing what it meant.

During the valkyrs years working at Evermores hospital there hadn’t been many code calling incidents. The town was quite a home for many criminals but mostly they kept it of hospital grounds which was nice. The surgeon had of course participated in the senario practice where they practice what to do when different codes were called. Nothing could prepare you for the real deal. At least they hadn’t cut the power Serena thought the second before the power was cut and everything went dark. Supposedly the patients and relatives would come to her for answers expecting her to take some control of the situation as she held the department head title. However being a leader in other than medical emergencies had never been her cup of tea.

The supernaturals eyes adjusted quickly to the new dark surroundings, after all she was a shadow creature, and she started to make a list. First locate Hanseol, she would need the males help keeping everyone calm and ventilating patients by hand now that the power was off.

Hanseol wasn’t used around such dark energy, he knew that. As a celestial, it was only normal for him to glow, literally. All of the glow originated from his light energy, and despite the blonde valkyr being such a kind doctor, he couldn’t help but to be slightly bothered by it. If either one of the valkyr or celestial aren’t volakiri, then he couldn’t see why they could be together in one room longer than needed. He knew he was starting to get goosebumps. However, he didn’t let all of that intercede in his plans for the rest of the children who are participating enthusiastically. Halfway in his attempts to create an origami after the gingerbread one, the sudden ring that came blaring throughout the hall caused the celestial’s ears to perk up. What the hell? What was going on?

All he could hear from the painful ringing was LOCKDOWN INITIATED. What was that supposed to be? Why was the hospital under lockdown, did something happened? The anxiety was slowly bubbling inside him, every part of him just telling him to get the hell out of there as soon as possible. But if the hospital was under lockdown, there was no way he could’ve snuck out then. When the kids ran around in panic, Hanseol stared ahead of him and paced back and forth a few times before settling against a wall in one of the halls in the west wing. Amidst the chaotic scene earlier, he found himself lost in between, which is a problem for the star considering the layout of the facility is basically foreign to him because it was his first time there.

Then the power was out. Great. He was already claustrophobic to begin with. How is he going to deal with this? Han found himself leaning against the walls and slowly brought his right hand to sooth the internal pain coming from his chest. His hand kept brushing against it as he let out a distressed sigh. The process of inhalation and exhalation was not going moderately well at all. The celestial had to close his eyes briefly before turning around to face the walls instead. Holding his free hand out against it, his breathing began to move at an uneven pace, and he felt as if his airstream was constricted as soon as he began inhaling again. Due to the power outage, there was no air-conditioner working so it was harder for him to breathe properly.

His breathing soon became erratic, to the point where he had to clutch his own chest and slip slowly to the floor where his back remained against the walls. It felt as if the past came back to run after him, those days where he was forced to run again and again. Is this actually happening now of all times. Come on. “Get ahold of yourself, Han. It’s just your stupid dilemma and paranoia eating you..” And yet he still couldn’t find the strength in himself to get up. His limbs felt so heavy and every time he tried to push himself up, the breathing became a lot more strained.
