It had been three blissful months since that night at the amusement park where Jae had told Hanseol that he loved him for the first time. What followed was a sense of exploration for the two of them as they slowly figured out the foundation of their relationship. Jae really liked being in a relationship, he liked the confidence that it fed into his daily life now and how much inspiration it had given him for his writing. He hadn't really told anyone yet but he had started work on a book of sorts which he was really happy with the progress of. honestly, it was kind of writing itself at this point and that excited him a lot.
There were still a few things he did struggle with when it came to his relationship though, the first was finding balance in his life between all the things going on, with classes, working on the weekends, hanging out with his friends, of which he had made a few in the time he had been in Evermore, namely Daehyun Stormwind and then making time to spend with Hanseol, he was a very busy person nowadays. He liked that though, it was exciting for him to always have things to look forward to. He enjoyed the mix of things that he and Hanseol did, they tried their best to make it out for dates at least once a week but most of their time together was spent at the house, honestly, Jae was pretty sure at this point he was addicted to Hanseol's cooking, or just addicted to Hanseol in general really.
One thing that really weighed on his mind now was the fact that he hadn't shared any part of this life with his family, it was the reason he couldn't update his relationship status online and why he would always avoid taking calls from home, especially if it was his father. He'd promised Hanseol that this was what he wanted and that he had every intention of telling them, but every time he thought he had the courage to do it, he ended up finding a reason not to. Honestly, he was just scared of losing anyone and he wasn't sure that feeling would ever go away but he did intend on telling them, he was at the place now where he was sure this relationship was good for him, being around Hanseol made him feel like a better person and he really liked caring for someone and having them care for him in return, he didn't give a damn that Hanseol was a man rather than the perfect woman he knew his parents wanted him to meet.
Jae had finally been busted by his roommates though, which was probably for the best considering he was barely ever at the dorm anymore, only coming back late at night to sleep because he needed to be in class early that day and Hanseol's house wasn't exactly the best location for getting to campus early in the morning. It had kind of becoming a running joke that Jae would never be there in the morning, he was a morning person and he found it really hard to stay in bed once he was awake so when Han woke up, the dhampir was usually gone, though Jae did make a habit of always leaving him little notes and letters to make up for it but he knew that the celestial was probably getting tired of waking up to an empty bed.
These were all the thoughts that Jae had as he stared down at his phone while riding on the subway, changing the music on his phone and waiting for his stop, this was his regular route over to the west of the city to where Hanseol lived, it felt like such second nature to him now that he didn't even need to look up and check the stops as the subway went along its usual route. He was running later than normal because he'd stayed for an extra ad hoc lecture offered by his professor but he'd already let Han know he was going to be late so he didn't have to worry. It had been a good lecture, but by the time he was done, he was buzzing to get out of there and not think about study for the rest of the evening. When the subway stopped at his stop he hopped off the train and started walking the familiar route from the station to the place he kind of considered a second home, at least he had a drawer of things there anyway.
It was the day before his 22nd birthday, though he hadn't mentioned that to quite literally anyone, he wasn't much for birthdays and always preferred to treat the day as if it was a normal day, most of his friends back home didn't even know when his birthday was because they'd never managed to pry it out of him. Hanseol of course though, had managed to worm the truth out of Jae, he just hoped the other male didn't go too overboard with any celebrations because Jae just wasn't the party type, though neither was the celestial so he didn't feel like he had too much to worry about. He looked up and pulled his headphones out of his ear as he walked up to the door and rang the doorbell.
It was a bit of a pain that Han always locked the front door but he couldn't question the fallen star's need for security after what happened at the clinic so he always waited patiently for the other male to come and let him in. When the light cracked open and the door swung wide the dhampir smiled brightly as his gaze fell on Hanseol, his star, honestly his whole world. Every time he saw him he still beamed that same way, as though he was looking at his beauty for the first time "Hey there gorgeous" he spoke softly as he leaned in and captured the other male by his clothes and then pressed a warm sweet kiss against his lips. He instantly noticed the amazing smell coming from inside the house and raised his brows "Okay what smells utterly divine" he commented as he stepped inside, his eyes twinkly as he looked over at Han for a moment "Other than you of course" he chuckled nudging the door shut behind him.

One good thing that usually came out everytime Hanseol tried to speak on his personal issues to Jae, was that the dhampir always seemed to find a reason to make him feel better, it wouldn't put his worries to rest, sure, but it was something. Considering the paranoia that accompanied his worries and woes, Hanseol didn't find it easy to not think about it. The more he tried to forget, the more it will continue to eat him. The celestial was worried that someday, he's not going to be able to feel anything because he's grown too used and numb. He didn't want to be a lifeless robot, that's just not him.
The Hanseol that he was, is compassionate, shy, and soft-natured. He would find ways to help people even if he didn't like them. The Hanseol Park he knew himself to be wouldn't be able to hurt a fly, much less a person, despite them wanting to hurt him. However, amongst all the selves he's seen himself been, it wasn't all happy either. There's also a Hanseol Park that's usually cold and closed off for the worst. The pride in him never allowed him to change that. As time passes by, he only chose to forget it instead of pushing it away, knowing fully well the aftermath of that would bring. Opening up was a hard thing to do for the celestial. He's known the wrong side of trusting people and unfortunately, it clouded his judgements and influenced his views, morphing him into one untrusting guy.
Thankfully, with Jae in his life, things turned out for the better. It was slow, but it's there. Hanseol found himself wanting to show more of him towards the beloved dhampir, since it was only fair that they both witness their ugly sides together, so they'll be able to improve in other aspects of their lives. Like that time when they first argued close to a few months ago, just a few weeks after their date at the amusement park. Jae got into a bar fight with someone and Han who was supposed to be en route to Boston cancelled his flight and rescheduled everything. All he knew was that he had to get a ticket to Denver and then back to Evermore. It wasn’t easy trying to score a last minute trip but he managed to snag one. The conference was put on hold because of it, though the star made sure to pass off his presentation slides to aid them and subsequently made up for his absence.
Bailing Jae out of the jail wasn't what he pictured himself doing, ever. But it gave them insight into what the relationship would entail; trust. Yet that’s one thing Hanseol himself is struggling with right now. His nightmares were one thing. Keeping Yeon away was another. But lying to him about how he's doing, is not just a white lie anymore. Not if it's detrimental to his health, which would only cause the dhampir to grow more restless when he's worrying about him. One period of his time where things really rained on him, 1932. Just a year before he was captured and locked in captivity for the next 85 years. Which was worse though? His years locked away from civilization and living his life in solitude? Or his brief but also long duration of running away for the entire year in all Europe because he kept being targeted by bounty hunters? Perhaps the latter. At least he was safe when he was within the steel cage.
He shouldn't have to pick, but if he had to, he'll take being locked any day. Gothenburg of all places, traumatized the poor celestial, who barely escaped with his life the first time, much less unscathed. While the fallen star was busy shivering and hiccuping to himself, he didn't notice another presence nearing. He was way too overwhelmed by his own mental state to comprehend what's happening in reality, as of now. His blood from the cut he got from the earlier injury had stained his top, but the stench of the coppery metallic liquid was not even bothering him anymore. And it's definitely not because of his tolerance towards blood in general.
It felt warm and despite his body burning up, the cool breeze of the night wasn't helping him. It was spring though, but why was he so cold and hot at the same time? It had nothing to do with the climate, for sure. From the corner of his eyes, he did notice the soft blue light illuminating from across the room when he heard a voice calling out to him. A voice so familiar he would've never mistook it for someone else's. Looking up to meet Jae's dark mocha hues, he was sure he's such a mess right now. His eyes welled up and there were a few stray tears mixed with the blood from the hand he used to wipe his tears earlier. It was as if all the galaxy and sparkle in his eyes dimmed into existence. It was just filled with pain and blankness. Tired. His eyes were tired.
Following the dhampir's instructions, the other male's voice wasn't that audible because his ears kept ringing painfully, but he could make out a few words. Calmly evening his breath, he clutched his chest and groaned in pain, his entire body shook in shivers. “Jae?,” he murmured, clearly feeling disoriented. “w-what are you doing here.. You should be asleep…”
Jae was a mesh of emotions behind the calm demeanor he was holding, a part of him felt guilty and mad at himself for not knowing about this sooner because looking back at Han he could see the pain and aching he was going through all over his face. The dhampir sucked in a sharp breath of disbelief in himself, had he really been so blind as to not see all the hurting that Han must be going through alone. He felt tears prick at his eyes as he thought about it, he did his best to hold himself together though, swallowing down hard to focus his mind on calming the celestial down, that was the most important thing at that moment.
It was like Hanseol didn’t even see him, he was buried in his own hands which were soaked with blood which he had to assume was the celestial’s own, Jae figured the clashing he heard earlier was probably where whatever it was, happened and in his panicked state Han hadn’t been able to take care of it. Jae’s dark eyes were watching the celestial’s which were glued to the distance as if they didn’t even see them and they were hooded like they were empty of all of the emotion Jae had to come to know. The dhampir let out a shaky breath at the realization that he really knew very little at all.
And when the celestial moved to look up at him, the look on Jae’s face showed his surprise rawly as he saw the way his tears stained over his face and mixed with the blood which Jae had now managed to stop came from a cut on his hand. Jae had never once seen Hanseol cry, he was always so strong and brave, or at least Jae supposed that was the persona he put on for the world and for the dhampir. Jae felt a little betrayed by it, he didn’t want to because he knew Han was just trying to protect himself and his feelings but the dhampir couldn’t help but feel like the rug below him had been pulled out for under him.
With his assurances though, Hanseol slowly but surely started to breathe and came around, realization came to the star’s face about the reality he now faced. Jae had never been in this room before but a few glances around affirmed what he expected, this was the place where the celestial came to do his paintings. Well, at least he knew that much about the celestial. Jae’s hands craved to wrap around the star and just hold him until he felt better but the dhampir couldn’t be sure that would help him in his current state and so he settled for staying where he was “I heard you fall” he affirmed with a half nod of his head, Jae didn’t want Han to go into panic mode again when he realized what had happened so he tried to give as calm of a vibe as he could while he kept himself together, though the tears in his eyes were giving him away.
His heart hurt a little to see Hanseol like that and he had to force himself to look away “I’m going to get a cloth for this okay” he nodded a little though he barely felt like he could breathe either. He got to his feet before Hanseol could say anything else as he stepped out into the hallway and scurried down towards the kitchen. Jae went over to the sink and grabbed some paper towels from on the counter before the sob wracked through his entire body and he doubled over as his breath came out in short bursts of panic. He hated seeing other people sad, he couldn’t handle it and he honestly just didn’t know what to do but he knew he couldn’t show that or he’d just make things worse. The dhampir reached up to wipe his sleeve furiously over his reddened face before he splashed some water from the tap on his face and he slowed his breathing.
After a few moments of just standing there and slowing his breathing, he rolled his shoulders back and told himself he had to stay calm. He wet the paper towel before he went back to the room he had left Hanseol in and knelt down in front of him again. He met the other male’s eyes asking for permission to touch him before he reached out to start cleaning the blood off of Hanseol’s face. Jae hummed a happy song that came to mind softly as he did so but he didn’t say anything, he didn’t want either of them to feel pressure to say something at that moment until they’d had time to think.
When he was done he moved back from the celestial slowly and gave him a look which he knew would say a lot “Why didn’t you tell me?” Jae asked in a weak voice as he put down the towel on the floor and leaned back in an attempt to stop his own body from trembling. This wasn’t just nightmares this was about something much more than that and Jae felt sick to his stomach with worry as he looked over Hanseol’s body. He was pale and looked like he was in pain and Jae felt the knot in his stomach tightening every time he looked at him.
To be honest, he wasn't sure what to feel right now. Was he sad? Furious? Confused? He felt like all of those emotions were present inside him. He was sad that Jae had to see him like this, broken and weak under all that mask he wore. He didn't mean to wear them around the dhampir, but Hanseol didn't want him to worry about his condition when it's clear that they've been exhausted respectively. They didn't need to worry about other things that didn't necessarily require their attention. Okay, perhaps he underestimated the lengths of his night terrors plaguing his head every night to the point where he usually hurts himself. Han only ever wanted to forget it all ever happened, this period of his time was supposed to be filled with happiness since he's found someone he really wanted to spend the rest of his days with; someone he wanted to be an immortal for.
It was supposed to be the past, yet it continued to haunt him until today for no reason. At least, not one he could figure out. The dark haired celestial was also furious that Jae entered the room that he had explicitly stated time and time again, to never step inside. It was just a small aggravated feeling inside him, nothing major, because there was no way he was about to get angry at the brunette, right now of all times. He came inside to help him. To see what's going on, it was his fault that he left the door ajar. Though if it wasn't due to the half-valkyr, Hanseol wasn't sure if he would have snapped out of his mentally induced hallucinations and back into reality. That was something he would thank him.
As for confusion, yes Han is still deep inside it. Following his panic attack, he couldn't see things straight and everything was squeezing him out. His claustrophobic self could handle the space being squeezed, his airstream felt constricted and he couldn't breathe for a while. Up until Jae's voice came piercing through that bubble he placed himself in, and guided him back to the right path. That was when he was able to breathe properly again. His jagged breath became more audible in the quiet night, where the only living being that was awake were him and his boyfriend. Yeontan and Byul were sound asleep in their room. Was he ashamed that Jae had to witness this? Definitely.
It was why the fallen star kept trying to avert his gaze afterwards. He couldn't meet his eyes, not without tearing up. Jae wasn't supposed to see this. While he was busy letting his eyes wander around, he saw the clock hanging on the wall across the room. 12 10 am. Fuck. It's 14th May already which meant it was Jae's birthday. And he's already ruined it 10 minutes in. Lowering his hands as he went back to look at the dhampir standing before him, he noticed the tears welling up, threatening to spill any moment now. Despite his glossy vision, he still possessed a better vision at night so he could spot it, not that it lasted long because Jae rushed to get a cloth before he could tell him it's fine. “Jae-,” Cutting his sentence off as he sunk his teeth deep into his bottom lip, the celestial sighed heavily and leaned against the wall, staring at the slightly dried blood from the wound on his palm.
He should've known with his enhanced dhampir senses, he was bound to hear him falling out of the bed earlier. Why didn't he think about that? Cursing internally, Hanseol closed his eyes shut and muttered a few profanities under his breath but halted when he heard footsteps coming closer. Fluttering his eyes open, he saw the brunette leaning closer to wipe the blood that was smeared across his face when he was being reckless earlier. Feeling the cold sensation of the wet towel dabbed on his cheek, his eyes softened. He had made Jae cry on his special day – the day Han had planned for since months ago. His dark optics followed the dhampir's actions, noting how he's humming somewhat a happy tune while softly wiping the stain away. The way his lips trembled slightly, he saw it and it made him feel bad. A lot.
Refusing to give into his fears, the star pushed the tremor in his hands and wrapped one hand on the latter's wrist, inadvertently stopping the dhampir from moving the cloth, leaving it be on his cheek, as his eyes bore deep into his. “Jae,” he started. “I'm sorry I didn't tell you..” That's it, there was no ‘because I didn't want you to worry’ etc. Just that. He acknowledged his fault. Despite the pain in his body, all the joints and muscle spasm, he reached out to wrap both his arms around the male, sighing softly as he nuzzled against his neck. His dhampir needed a hug. And he wanted to hug him. “I'm sorry for ruining your special day 10 minutes in.. It wasn't supposed to go this way” he mumbled, sniffing slightly. This wasn't the way it was supposed to go at all.
If there was one feeling that Jae hated the most it was feeling helpless, like he didn’t know what to do or how to help someone and that was exactly how he felt in those moments, the internal panic evident in his somewhat frantic actions. Jae’s fatal flaw was that he always cared too much about others to the point where it physically pained him to see other people upset and he would tear little pieces of himself out to make it go away. But what was worse about it was realizing tonight how much pain Hanseol must always be in and he didn’t know. He felt like he was a bad person for not knowing, for not seeing it before now, he felt guilty for not staying long enough to see it and he didn’t dare ask how long it had been going on for.
There was a small moment of deliberation in his mind before he had come into the room, Han had always asked him not to come in here and to let it go whenever he would ask about it and he had tried his best to respect that because the celestial asked him to and it became evident he needed time to talk about it. But in those small moments where he was worrying over Han and knew he was in here, his worry and concern for the person he loved quickly trumped his word on it. Jae was a worrier and a protector at heart and he instantly knew which option he would choose without a doubt.
The way that Hanseol wouldn’t even look at him made it even worse for him, it only cemented the feeling like he had done something wrong like he could be adding to that pain the celestial was feeling. He felt his mind getting heavier and his breath becoming more and more ragged as those thoughts circled in his mind, Jae always doubted himself and it wasn’t something that went away quickly, the dhampir always found a way to blame himself even when it probably wasn’t his fault. It was probably because of all the pressure he put on himself and that came from his family that shaped him that way.
Normally his reaction would be to start telling jokes but words wouldn’t come to his lips, all he could do is stare horrified as the celestial cried and try his utmost not to cry too, Jae was horrible at being around other people crying because it made him want to as well. So even though he knew Hanseol was trying to play it down or tell him he was okay the dhampir couldn’t handle it and so he rushed out of the room. He didn’t even know who to be mad at or upset with, it wasn’t Hanseol’s fault that any of this had happened to him and it wasn’t like he was purposely trying to make Jae worried, quite the opposite he supposed but Jae had thought they might be in a better place than that by now, where they could actually talk to one another about things and didn’t need to keep secrets.
The dhampir knew that was a lot to ask of the celestial though, he had decades of life which he had spent in pain and of course, that would linger and having someone love him wasn’t going to magically heal those wounds, those were the kind you could only fix yourself. Jae was doing his best to just help in whatever way he could think of, dabbing the cloth to clean off the blood on his face as though that might solve anything. He tensed when the other male grabbed his wrist his fingers stopping mid-movement and his eyes finally meeting Hanseol’s again “I’m sorry I didn’t see it” Jae responded back as he watched him, he should have known, there was no excuse for not knowing.
Jae was staring at Hanseol when the celestial leaned forward and enveloped him into a hug, it took a while for his mind to process what was happening before he finally melted into the celestial’s touch his head dropping against his shoulder and his hands wrapped around Hanseol’s frame too, though he was gentle because he could tell the star was in physical pain, a second, less loud sob escaped his lips as he held onto Hanseol for dear life “You can’t worry me like this” he pleaded again, it hadn’t stopped Han from bottling things before but Jae had always let things go before, he wasn’t letting this one go “I’m the man who loves you, I’m supposed to be able to be here for you, to protect you” he knew he was rambling which was normally Han’s thing “You can’t keep shutting me out baby” he didn’t give a fuck that it was his birthday.
When Hanseol brought up his birthday Jae sighed softly against his shoulder “It’s not ruined” he denied the statement as fast as it came “You telling me the truth is never going to ruin my day okay, it’s what I asked for” Jae pulled back a little so he could meet the star’s eyes though he didn’t leave his arms because he barely like he could hold himself up in that moment “I asked for you, all of you” Jae lifted his hand to press his thumb against Han’s cheek and he smiled softly through the tears “I knew you remembered my birthday” he joked with a soft laugh and sniffed “Please tell me there’s not a cake” though if there was he would let Hanseol have it after tonight.
He never meant to bring him pain, it was never his intention to cause such calamity towards anyone else. He couldn't even wish for it to happen, much less carry it out. But Hanseol knew, the moment he saw the all too familiar soft blue light emitting from his twin daggers that his boyfriend carried around everywhere, across the room near the door frame, he was done for. Jae would've known what he did and how he spent his nights. The guilt in him left a bitter aftertaste, that even the coppery metallic taste from the blood from him biting his lip too hard, couldn't distract him. His eyes slowly returned to its initial spot, it was warm and soft, matching his doe-like hues very well, but the spark and mischievous twinkle that Jae can usually spot from a mile away was no longer there. Not at this moment, at least.
Hanseol couldn't bring himself to fake that because there was faking it, it was something genuine that came directly from the bottom of his heart. By the least, his dark hues were no longer hollow and dull like it was earlier, any hints of tiredness and pain was slowly dissipating away too. The celestial hated to show this ugly side to Jae, it wasn't a side he liked seeing himself, much less showing it to someone he really cherished and love. That was as good as showing your failing 0% mark to your parents. At first, he couldn't meet his eyes because he was so ashamed that all the lies surrounding this topic is now uncovered, and he didn't get to form any coherent sentences to tell him why he did what he did. Han's tongue froze just like how his whole body went rigid momentarily, his throat felt like the dry Sahara desert.
No words could be formed in that span of time, so all the star could do was just give the dhampir a reassuring glance and hold, telling him secretly that he was fine and that there was nothing for him to apologize for. God dammit, first he made him cry. Now he's making him sad, just how fucked up can this day be? And it's only 15 minutes in, what the fuck, Han. The celestial felt terrible for doing this to his boyfriend, nonetheless. Of all people, it had to be him. Way to go, star. The fallen star could swore that he can picture Yeon making fun of him from a distance, mocking the celestial for fucking things up when he's done so much to hide this very problem. Once again he tried to form words to tell him it's okay, but the furthest he went was coughing. That felt awkward.
Relishing in the warmth the dhampir exuded as he backed in the current embrace, Hanseol tightened his grip around Jae, even though his body was not taking it well physically. But he'll heal, this was nowhere near the worst he's been hurting himself during his uneventful nightmares, let's be real. But what Jae doesn't know won't hurt him, right? His breathing gradually got better as a few minutes passes by. Still locking himself in the embrace, he tilted his head slightly to snuggle deeper into the crook of the other male's neck, blowing a cooling air towards his nape and shoulder, peppering soft kisses on the exposed skin. “I won't.. I promise I won't worry you again” he croaked out, his voice sounding like he hasn't drunk a single drop of water for days. But is it really up to the celestial to determine when he's gonna be chased around by the nightmares again? Not really. It comes and goes, there was literally no interval schedule for it. He’d know because Han foolishly wasted his time trying to time it. It hits him when he least expects it, which makes it a lot more personal since it hits too close to home.
“I don't wanna shut you out, babe” his voice became muffled against his soft delicate honey-kissed skin that Hanseol somehow couldn't stop hovering his lips on. Have mercy on the celestial, he just wanted comfort from the best source possible. He felt touched the moment Jae told him he wanted him, all of him. It was the best thing one could tell the other. Han knew the half-valkyr accepted him for who he is, despite all his flaws, and he can never thank him enough but he felt this strange desire to prove it to the dhampir that he can get better. When he was asked if there was anything cake, Hanseol gulped momentarily and blinked a bit too quickly, especially when Jae is right in front of him and there was no way he can lie. He's already a known bad liar.
“I kinda do? It's in the fridge, I had it delivered yesterday.. Well the day before.” If only the cake is only thing he prepared. It was probably the least of his worries now. Pressing his lips softly against Jae's tears, he patted his shoulders comfortingly. “Do you think you can stand up?” Coughing deliberately, he fiddled with his fingers, averting his gaze downwards before meeting his eyes once again, with his lips quivering slightly. “I wanna cuddle and hopefully sleep..” Honestly that's not the only thing he wanted to do. “Happy birthday, Jae.” Once again, he pressed his lips against the dhampir, only this time, it wasn't the cheeks, it was slightly down below, and above his chin. Yep, that's the spot. The gifts and cake can wait tomorrow.
Jae didn’t want Hanseol to be ashamed for having problems or feeling the way he did, the dhampir hadn’t entered a relationship with him believing that he was with someone who was free of demons and he didn’t want to. Jae didn’t think any less of him for struggling, if anything it made him more real to the dhampir and while he knew he couldn’t fix things for him or take all his pain away he wanted to be there for him, he wanted Hanseol to find peace in the fact he could tell Jae about his troubles and dhampir wouldn’t judge him for them. They were partners, teammates and Jae didn’t feel like he could be the best teammate possible when Hanseol pretended like things didn’t get to him. Jae wasn’t asking him to stop having nightmares, he knew that was impossible, he was asking to know when they happened so he could be there to lessen his pain even by 1 percent.
Holding Hanseol did make him feel better though, just losing himself in the star’s warmth and the feeling of his breath against his skin and the way the celestial pressed soft kitten kisses against the spot over and over again. Holding on to him helped Jae to reassure himself that the person he cared for was safe because his biggest fear was seeing something happen to hurt the celestial or losing him. No matter how much Jae tried to be independent or told himself he had other important things in his life, he always had this irrational feeling like Hanseol was just going to disappear one day. The words Han spoke were broken and barely audible but the promise made the dhampir smile slightly, leaning into the kisses Han was making against his skin “I’m skipping tomorrow” Jae spoke softly “I wanna stay with you” he spoke softly which was his indirect way of saying he would stay till morning.
The vibration of Hanseol’s lips as he spoke against Jae’s skin made him shiver a little from the touch “Then don’t, I’m not going to think any less of you I promise” his voice was muffled too as they lost themselves in one another’s touch. Jae craved this, a level of honesty and understanding between the two of them that told him they could take on the world and win if they wanted to. Neither of them was always going to have good days, there were days when Jae was down from the pressure from his parents or he let the anger get the best of him and Hanseol managed to talk him down and if Han struggled with sleeping and nightmares then Jae would find a way to help him and support him through that too. The dhampir reached up to run his hands through the celestial’s hair, not wanting to take his hands off him in any sense of the word.
The guilty noise Han made when Jae mentioned cake made him roll his eyes a little but he continued to play with his hair, face still hovering close enough to be completely surrounded in the celestial’s scent “Hopefully it’s strawberry” he mumbled softly into his shoulder. Crying felt so ridiculous now as they looked back at one another, why make one another sad when they could be boosting one another up instead. Jae sucked a long breath in as Hanseol kissed his tears away and the dhampir leaned forward to return the favor cleaning the last of the blood off his face with his kisses against the celestial’s face.
When Hanseol asked if he could stand he nodded, now that he’d managed to expel all the sadness from him he felt a lot better, though he could still tell that Han was physically in pain, his eyes followed Han’s downwards and he sucked in air “Okay, do you think you can sleep?” Jae asked with honest eyes, he didn’t feel like he could right now but he would happily hold onto the other male until he fell asleep if that’s what he wanted though Jae sensed there was more to it than that. The kiss against the underside of his chin and then under his lips took the dhampir by surprise but he smiled, he loved the feeling of Han’s lips against any part of him, he hummed softly in pleasure from the feeling.
Jae pushed himself to his feet and very gently pulled Han up with him, his hands trailed over the celestial’s chest gently before they rested on his shoulders, though the dhampir didn’t put any pressure on them. He blushed a little embarrassed by what he was going to suggest before he even said it “I uh…” he bit gently on his lip “I can help you to heal more quickly if you want me to” he wouldn’t force him to but when a dhampir bit someone their bit was able to quicken the rate of healing to the same extent of their own. Jae hadn’t really gone there with Han before because biting and blood sharing was a really personal thing to him but he trusted the celestial and if Han trusted him then he could help.
What hit him most was that despite everything they've told one another, about how they'll always be there for each other even when they were at their lowest breaking point, Hanseol still didn't want to show his imperfections. His insecurity is that overwhelming. He knew he was far from perfect but that doesn't mean he's going to be showing his weaknesses and flaws outrightly just like that. Especially to someone he holds as his number one. Would that not be embarrassing for him? Though after witnessing just how affected Jae was with what happened to him earlier, it showed Hanseol that he needed to let him in a little bit more. Open his doors, and come invite him in, without any layers protecting this or that anymore. The sudden thought of opening himself up to Jae in another scale reminded the celestial the other matter on hand, that matter. The one regarding a certain blond valkyr. Right, how is he going to explain that one to Jae?
The brunette's mind whirred a bit too quickly in attempts to find a way out of that case, and began calculating the possibilities of the outcome. By multiple versions. One, Jae would get upset, because blood sharing is very personal. Everyone knows that. Two, Jae might even sulk. If he was in his shoes, he would, so that was all understandable. Three, Jae might go out his way to find Yeon and god knows what the dhampir will do then. If there was anything he found out about the sun-kissed male throughout their time together, it's that he is relentless and resilient. Passionate and hard headed, there's quite literally nothing that he would allow a pass on. Which is one of the traits that Han loved dearly, but now worried a lot. Eh, that matter can be discussed another day. Not today.
He's already burdened the other male with his sleeping problems today and it's supposed to be a good day for him, considering the measures the fallen star went for the planning. There's plenty of gifts lying around, all wrapped up neatly and intricately. Jae already knew about the cake. But there's more. Admittedly, it took the celestial by the storm when he widened his eyes at him when the half-valkyr told him he was gonna skip tomorrow. He never skips any class! Hanseol wasn't sure if he should feel giddy or embarrassed that his boyfriend is really going through all this length just to make sure he's fine today. Today wasn't supposed to be about him!
“진짜? 농담하는 거 아니지? (Really? You're not kidding, right?),” he sputtered, clearing his throat a few times when he felt the air escaping him. It's been a while since he went back to his native tongue with Jae, but now it feels a lot more natural to speak in it, since the celestial had a strong Busan accent whenever he's overwhelmed by a particular emotion. “와..멋있네. 대박.. (Wow, cool. Daebak..)” his lips formed an ‘O’ as he gaped at the dhampir before him. He wasn't kidding? “What did I do to deserve you..” he mumbled inaudibly, knowing fully well Jae would easily catch that. Will he finally know the feeling of waking up beside Jae now? One of his many wishes would come to life? He's one lucky lad.
The doe-eyed celestial fluttered his eyes closed in pleasure when he hummed softly when the brunette dhampir ran his fingers through his hair. It felt nice. It took everything in him not to purr right there on the spot. Slightly unfair since at this point, they knew one another's soft and weak spots already. All they needed to do was push the right buttons and voila. The fact that his face was a little too close to his own got him flushing, his cheeks slowly warming up and welcoming the return of blushing family. Even in the dark lit room that only had the moonlight shining through the translucent windows, Han was slowly on the road of becoming a tomato. A cute tomato. “It's your favorite” he confirmed, strawberries were something they both had in common. The last time, Han was this close to buying an entire section of strawberries at the grocery store because they kept finishing it like it's their daily food rather than a snack. He definitely didn't expect Jae to kiss him back, on the face, much like what he did to stop his tears earlier.
His blush deepened and his body froze momentarily. If it was just him, that would've been fine because it wasn't a rarity for them to pepper one another with kisses. But since there's still a small amount of his blood smeared on his face from earlier, it really took him off guard. That was strangely intimate, not that he's complaining. His body was still sore, his muscles felt like it got strained for hours and his leg, he was already limping from earlier, the fall from his bed.. And the stairs, did not give it any reason to stay around and act nice. Of course Han would forget about his own well being while worrying about Jae. That sounds just like baby boy Hanseol who forgot. Wait, can he sleep again? “Maybe with your help, I did fell asleep earlier. Just spoon me and I think I should be okay.” He didn't miss to wink teasingly though, because the star love, once again reiterated, loves being spooned. It gave him a sense of security, like nobody else can reach out to pull him away.
Getting up slowly on his two feet, his right leg wobbled a bit, the exact spot where his limp originated from. Rubbing on it briefly, he grinned sheepishly towards Jae. However, that grin faltered so quickly when he heard what Jae suggested, where it was then replaced with a look of disbelief. Not the bad ‘what the fuck’ kind, more to ‘I'm sorry what the fuck’ one. He knew just how personal and intimate the gesture was. He went through it the first time with his Volakiri, afterall. Though it was different since Yeon didn't exactly bite him. Hanseol literally looked like a bunny caught in the headlights, with his mouth slightly agape.
“Did you mean.. A dhampir's bite?” he asked, he wanted to be sure if that's really what he's talking about because the last time he checked, it wasn't something Jae would throw around casually. This must took a lot for him. And the amount of trust the dhampir poured to the celestial caused the butterflies inside him to flutter. “I- it's up to you, Jae. I'm on the receiving end per usual, though you should really know by now, that I don't really say no.” A part of him was curious on how it works. Can you blame him?
Jae wasn’t exactly happy about what happened tonight, he couldn’t be happy about the fact that Hanseol was exhausted and his sleep was tormenting him, but he did feel like they would come out of it stronger for it, because it was the first time that he had seen Hanseol show some of his darker tendencies and not completely shut the dhampir out afterward. That meant they could slowly move to the place he wanted to be with his boyfriend, able to talk about everything together, with no sore topics or hesitance. They weren’t there yet, he knew that, but he felt like they had made a large movement towards getting there and that helped to ease the worrying in his chest a little.
And he was expecting this new knowledge to feel like a burden but it actually felt like more of a weight off for him because it was something he could process and handle, Jae had told Hanseol many times when they were getting to know one another that he didn’t do well with the unknown, secrets bothered him and at times scared him too. To know the celestial had been struggling with nightmares and what seemed like nightmare induced panic attacks he could handle because he would now make an effort to stay with his boyfriend and help him feel better, that was something he could do to help. Being shut out was what Jae couldn’t stand.
“내가 너에게 거짓말을 할까? (Would I lie to you?)” Jae responded with a quirk of his brow, though he could understand Hanseol’s surprise, 3 months was a long time to go without waking up to the person you called a lover and Jae felt bad for not giving that to him sooner now, but he could make it up to him still, starting today. The excited look on Hanseol’s face was worth any time he might spend lying awake in bed restless anyway and who knows, with enough practice maybe Jae would be able to sleep longer in the mornings, it’s not like he enjoyed being awake during them. The mumble made Jae quirk his lips into a soft smirk “You stole my heart and ran it around the sun and back” Jae smiled gently, he couldn’t explain his rationale behind the way he felt but he felt it so strongly for the celestial.
Jae always liked running his fingers through Hanseol’s hair and playing with the strands between his fingertips but he liked seeing Han’s reaction to it more, hearing the soft humming that came from his lips. The two of them knew one another’s bodies better than anything now, Jae knew all the spots that sent the celestial off the edge and in turn Han knew his. They could both drive one another completely crazy with teasing if they so wished and that always made things interesting for them. Jae was usually the more forward of the two of them but Han also had his moments where he would take the lead, Jae was happy with that part of their relationship, he felt comfortable either way. Seeing the blush on Han’s cheeks in the moonlight was honestly stunning, the fact that the celestial still blushed around him always caused his breath to hitch in his throat. “It’s definitely my weakness when it comes to sweet things” he thought about being cheesy and adding except you but that sounded like a line Hanseol would give him.
Jae felt the way that Hanseol froze when Jae pressed a kiss against the last of the blood on the celestial’s face, they hadn’t really talked about that part of what Jae was but the smell of the blood had been driving him almost insane throughout this whole thing and he couldn’t help himself any long. With the blood on his lips he ran his tongue over them the taste sweet and almost addicting and then he cleared his throat as he looked back at Hanseol to make sure it was okay with him. The look in Han’s eyes wasn’t one of disgust which caused Jae to breathe a sigh of relief. “If it’s okay with you I want to stay awake until you fall asleep” the dhampir admitted with a sheepish smile, he was worried and he would feel better knowing the star was asleep in his arms before he allowed himself to sleep.
Jae looked over the star with a concerned look as he noticed the way that Han was struggling to stand, he really had done a number on himself when he fell, Jae could tell but he didn’t make a big deal of it, he just kept his hands against Hanseol’s frame so that if anything happened he could catch him. Jae had tried to make his suggestion as casually as possible but it wasn’t a casual thing, in fact, Jae had never actually bitten someone before and the idea of it did make him a little nervous, but if he could help Hanseol to feel the tiniest better and help him sleep easier then he owed it to himself to try.
Jae nodded when Hanseol asked him to clarify what he meant by his suggestion “I’ve been told it’s pretty powerful, though I haven’t actually seen it for myself” he confessed as his hand dropped down to the star’s and he threaded his fingers through the celestials. Han didn’t say no, which told Jae that he wanted to but also didn’t want to ask for it, another one of the celestial’s more prominent traits was avoiding being selfish at all costs. “Okay come on” and with that he tugged the celestial’s hand as he headed up the stairs slowly, making sure to check on Hanseol as he moved.
When they got into the bedroom, Jae closed the door behind them “Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked and when the celestial agreed Jae nodded gently as his hands slipped down to the hem of the celestial’s shirt and tugged it up over his head before discarding it onto the floor. He nodded as he pushed the star to sit on the edge of the bed and then Jae climbed onto his lap, not putting too much pressure on him as he straddled over him. Jae eased into the idea of a bite by leaning up against Han’s bare chest pressing gentle kisses against the star’s torso before he stopped at the spot he had in mind just between the celestial’s collarbone and shoulder, it was an easy to reach place but also not one that would get the star questions he couldn’t answer at work. His breath was hot against the other male’s skin as he prepared himself mentally for this and his eyes flickered up to Hanseol's to get his permission one more time.
Is he making the right choice? Letting someone in, it wasn't easy and even though Jae is rightfully the best possible option for a person that he would allow inside, something kept bothering him. It kept thumping at the back of his head, as if it was trying to remind the celestial something he forgot. However, it didn't last long, knowing him. In a split second, he concluded this was for the best, and since Yeon had the privilege to access his feelings and secrets without any layers covering himself, Jae should have the same, if not more. Definitely more. He is his boyfriend, for heaven's sake. If he didn't know him better than his Volakiri, then what's the point of trust in this relationship?
Hanseol promised to trust Jae, and in return, Jae trusted him. Yet what happened earlier was the direct opposition to him ‘trusting’ the dhampir. Don't get him wrong, it's not about the desire to leave it be, but rather the rules of the aftermath. One part of him where the insecurity resided within, felt like it would only take one misstep for the half-valkyr to leave him. He often scolded himself for thinking about that, since that meant he wasn't confident nor positive about him, which he is. It was very frequent that Han needed to dismiss all of those pessimistic thoughts. What would you expect from a guy who's been a pessimist his entire life? It's not exactly surprising for him to find the rough edges of everything first before leaning towards the good parts. He hoped that now that he's known about his ‘sleeping’ problems, the celestial wouldn't have to hide it from him anymore.
Keeping secrets or evading the truth from Jae wasn't an easy task, it's hard, and even more challenging when the brunette had this tendency to catch on hints pretty fast without any assistance. He's a bright student, afterall. “그러시죠. 넌 날 믿어. (That's true.. I trust you.)” He really did. He just needed some time to wrap his head around the impending issues that lies beyond his own self control. One day, Jae will know. And all Han hoped was that the dhampir would take it well, like he did today. But still, a small part of him was still very much embarrassed that he was exposed like this today. To some, it showed just how much he ‘trusted’ his boyfriend, which is not what he had in mind. Han trusted Jae, will all his heart. And it was because of that, that all of these secrets happened – because the fallen star didn't want to disappoint and give him a reason to doubt him. His meticulous self would never allow any mistake to occur and that could sometimes, prove to be the problem.
Giggling softly at the sudden mention of him stealing his heart and running around with him really had him. The fact that Jae was trying to ease the situation by brightening the atmosphere up says something; Han chose the right guy, the perfect person to spend the rest of his life with. Nothing will ever change that. The world can crack into two and they might argue, but the celestial knew, he'll never stop choosing him. Jaesung Moon is the guy for him. The way his fingers tangled itself in his dark locks, it felt just right. Similar to how he would say the latter's hands were made for him. Nothing felt out of place and there was nothing awkward about it, it was no wonder that they're comfortable with one another. In his unruly attempts to push away the attention that was given to his sleeping issue, Hanseol made sure to show just how happy and delighted he was with the way Jae's treating him. The celestial really likes being on the receiving end, radiating big energy on being the receiver. Though that doesn't mean he's short on giving back either. Depending on the time, he would also take the lead and didn't shy away into showing his affection towards the other male.
“That's probably why you like me so much, I'm sweet like a strawberry” he smiled wryly, the ever-growing smirk resting comfortably on his lips. It may as well make a home there. When Jae peppered his face with a few kisses, he admitted he was really taken aback by the sudden action, because it was quite literally, the last thing he ever thought Jae would do. Admittedly, Hanseol wasn't the only one struggling with identity crisis, Jae was the same. And it couldn't have made him prouder to see him slowly embracing the half side of him. He's beautiful. The star wished that he won't look away from that part of him, because even Han is slowly accepting who he is, hence the occasional trainings with Ophelia and Yeon.
It caused his heart to swell in delight when he hears those words coming out from him, he wanted to stay awake until he's safely tucked into the land of slumber? If that ain't sweet, then he doesn't know what is. The way Han's eyes softened to a new degree when he was ushered upstairs gently. Ironically, Jae treated him the same way he did; like he was made of glass. How the tables have turned. “So not only are you sweet and caring, but also thoughtful? Are you real?” Halfway stepping up the stairs, he couldn't help but to jest playfully around him. It was a way to bring the humor up to forget what happened previously. He definitely wanted to forget that he hurt his leg multiple times in the span of 20 minutes, for sure. He'll be honest, he's heard about dhampir's bite but never actually knew what it does other than it heals. Such description is quite vague. Guess he's in it for the ride to find out. No pressure or anything.
When he's asked if he was sure about it, he placed both his hands on Jae's face, staring into his eyes tenderly with a soft smile peeking out. “Have I ever been unsure with you?” he spoke softly, caressing his cheek briefly before allowing the dhampir to pull his shirt off. The celestial's curiosity was at its peak, his doe-like hues wavering slightly at him. It wasn't that he was nervous, just plain curious. It wasn't the first time he'd given his blood willingly, but this time, someone's actually going to bite him to take it. Every kiss Jae planted on his torso burned, where he's sure even the cool breeze of the night wouldn't help his body from feeling hot. It's been going since before, and the way it intensified when he's touched only told him he's not having a fever. Not now, at least. Han found himself fluttering his eyes closed and allowed a groan to escape him. When he opened them again, he was greeted with his dhampir's own dark optics that seemed a lot more enticing tonight. If what he required from him was consent, then he has it. He nodded endearingly, the look on his eyes never leaving the male before him.
Jae understood why it was so hard for Hanseol to trust people, he couldn’t blame him for that, he would doubt people and want to only rely on himself too if he’d been forced to run for the best part of 8 decades. The dhampir had always been patient with Han, not forcing him to go into topics that he clearly found hard to deal with, it was why he never actually tried to get into the locked room they were now in, even though he knew how to unlock them and was pretty skilled at lock picking, he respected what Han had asked of him. But there was only so long that was going to work because one of them had to give, Jae couldn’t wait for Hanseol to trust him with those demons forever and the longer time went on the more Jae realized Han would probably go on covering them up forever without a push.
“너는해야만 해. (You should)” Jae responded without missing a beat to his words, Jae was always on Hanseol’s side and always had been, he thought the world of the fallen star and the dhampir wasn’t sure there was anything he could tell him about his past or his current mental state that would scare Jae off. He could understand wanting to hide a part of yourself to people who you knew wouldn’t accept you, he did it all the time with his parents because it was easier to paint a picture of who he was around them than to try and make them understand the person he really was. But the person you wanted to build a life with? That had to be the person you could be at your rawest with or your entire relationship was built on a lie. Both of them deserved better than that.
If Jae had one superpower it was being able to make people smile when they were sad, he’d yet to meet someone who he hadn’t been able to get a hint of a smile from when he put the effort in, he knew Han well enough now to pull jokes and teasing out of the air pretty easily. Hanseol liked sweet nothings and metaphors, they never failed to make the celestial happy and the day they didn’t Jae would know something was very wrong. He felt like he knew Hanseol pretty well now but there was always more to learn, especially when it came to the parts of Hanseol he kept hidden away, Jae now knew why he always tried to stay awake for stupidly long periods and got caught up in his work sometimes, it was all to avoid having to go to sleep and go through the nightmares again. With his hands running all over Han’s hair and curling against the base of his neck Jae felt most in his element, he had to admit he liked being the one in control and being able to draw out reactions from the celestial and Han rarely argued taking that position, though he did often whine if Jae teased him too much.
“Well you’re as red as a strawberry” he commented with a chuckle an equally devilish smirk accompanying his own expression as he leaned in to kiss against his face and he wasn’t talking about the blood he wanted to taste either. Jae was slowly coming to terms with what he was and who that made him, he no longer just wanted to just be human, he trained with Donovan regularly now and practiced rune casting almost daily. Just as Hanseol Park was learning how to be a celestial, Jaesung Moon was learning how to be a dhampir, though the question of his immortality switch still remained a grey area.
As they were heading up the stairs Jae was doing his best to be delicate with the other male because while Hanseol was gritting his teeth and bearing it, Jae knew he was in a lot of pain, he had to be after falling twice and then cutting his hand open and Han didn’t have any kind of supernatural healing to soften the blow. “Maybe I just don’t want you collapsing on me when I have so many better plans for how to spend the first hour of my birthday” he purred suggestively in response to cover the fact that he really was worried. He hoped the bite would at least manage to ease some of Han’s pain so that he could rest easier, Jae knew how badly insomnia could screw with your head first hand and night terrors could only add another layer to it all.
When Hanseol responded to his question of whether he was sure, Jae met his dark eyes and smiled gently, he was glad to see the life back in them, the twinkle that was absent earlier making its return “No but this isn’t something I know well” he admitted a little vulnerably but they both wanted it. Part of the want was selfish on the dhampir’s part because he’d already gotten a small taste of the celestial’s blood when it was dry on his face and he couldn’t even imagine what it might taste like directly but that wasn’t the kind of thing he was ready to say out loud or even admit to himself. Hearing the groan Hanseol let out as Jae kissed across his chest assured the dhampir he wanted this but he made one final glance to the celestial’s eyes to get the confirmation he wanted.
Jae fluttered his eyes closed and eased a little more of his weight onto the celestial’s lap as he pressed up against him, his hands rested on Han’s hip and back respectively as he held him close, his lips grazing the spot one last time before he bared his teeth and sank them down into the celestial’s chest. The instant the taste of the blood hit his tongue Jae moaned loudly against the star’s skin his hands tightening his grip a little as he processed the white hot pleasure that instantly began to course through his veins. All thoughts of being gentle seemed to go out the window as his tongue lapped over the bite taking it more of the sweet tasting liquid into his mouth, he could tell the bite was done right because the wound was neat, just two puncture holes against the skin which he knew would heal pretty quickly.
Jae felt himself almost dizzy or drunk in the taste but thanks to the fact he was a dhampir it never really consumed him the way it could a valkyr and so when he broke away again, moving back from the bite he only felt himself overwhelmed with a sense of euphoria which was strongly attached to his star “Fuck” he moaned out loud as his fingers twitched against Hanseol’s skin.
If he was going to take things better for the next measure, by the very least, Jae was considerate enough to allow Han to have the benefit of the doubt. Trusting didn't come easy to him as it would come to anyone else, it's a lot harder to pierce the bubble he lived inside due to his history. He had to admit that hiding things from Jae wasn't the best for either of them, which was slowly prompting the celestial to think about his Volakiri bond with Yeon and how he's spill the tea to the dhampir soon. It's not going to be today since there was no way Han was going to ruin his dhampir's birthday further than he's already done damage to, but it could be tomorrow for all he knew. Was he truly ready for this?
Though it didn't last long considering he wanted to get rid of all the dark and murky pessimistic thoughts in his head for tonight. It's not going to do him any good originally, and it would not change even if he doubted this or that. Gazing towards the brunette before him, he wondered how lucky he was to snag someone like him, he truly won at life, even if his previous neither current one didn't seem ideal. He still had time to fix this, and he will. Jae respected his wishes through everything, he didn't enter this room when the celestial told him not to, whereas Hanseol wasn't sure if he was able to do that. His curiosity would kill him and he would end up trying to pry his way inside. Which wouldn't be good too.
The fallen star had nothing near to self control, not before, and definitely not now. It was true, Han was afraid that his distressed mental state would push Jae away, hence why he chose to keep it a secret, in the first place. It wouldn't be the first time someone's left him, anyways. So why should it be any different for the half-valkyr? Right, he forgot that the dhampir is his boyfriend; his significant other, the one he chose to spend his life with. If he couldn't come to terms with his internal problems soon, then it's going to jeopardize his relationship in the future and he does not want that to happen.
The way his neck and chest always took home the prize of being the most sensitive spots on his body and how Jae always had a way doing test rounds around it, much to the celestial's delight. Quite frankly, the way the dhampir knew exactly what he was doing to him got him hot and bothered, riling him up the best way possible. His whole being was already sweating profusely from earlier and the more he see the path they were going to take for the night, the more anxious he was. His blushing didn't stop when he was called out looking red like a strawberry, to which he only brought both his hands up to press it against his cheeks, instantly covering any sight or bit of showing how shy he's being. He had to bite down his snarky suggestive remark about being compared to a strawberry, one he decided against saying it out loud. Han will hold it in, for as long as he could, which is literally saying just how inevitable that will be.
It's hard not to notice how sparkly the dhampir's eyes were when all he's been doing is stare into them as he watched as Jae tried to lead him gently upstairs. It was an act he found funny and absurd because he's not a child that needed to be protected every second, but considering the times he fell off the stairs, he's going to keep quiet about it. The day was about making up to Jae, not him. The look he gave him was comparable to that of a lovestruck idiot though, he was content with staring into the other male's nurturing tendencies that he actually tripped on one step, and it wasn't just that too, it was the sudden comment coming from that same guy who's been so soft on him. Thankfully, it wasn't enough to let him fall; which would've been the embarrassment of the century.
To say he was mildly surprised by him being so suggestive and promising would be an understatement. Hanseol had to control himself from sucking in a deep breath and letting out an incoherent strangled cry. One way to do that was to avert his gaze away, so he didn't even meet the dhampir's eyes or body as he scurried to his room as fast as he could. That one minute felt like an hour. The celestial was was considerably worried about the aftermath of the bite since neither of them seemed to know anything about it, but he's choosing to trust Jae. What's the worst that could happen? Other than him potentially suffering from the side effects and succumb back into the painful road? He's peachy.
After what happened earlier, there's nothing else that can possibly top that. He hated and loved how the half-valkyr seemed to know how his body would react, because it made him feel so vulnerable yet it did give him a good time indeed. One thing the celestial noticed was how Jae's never sat on his lap before, not once. But tonight was about to change that seeing as he's settling himself quite comfortably on him. The pressure of his fangs was cold and hard, the pointy ends of his canines taunting the smooth surface of his chest, scraping against it ever so slowly. The pain always came first – it's excruciating, especially when it's done at a very sensitive spot. The chest is the major hub of circulatory system – it houses a lot of organs. Oxygenated blood circulated around that area and he could even pinpoint where Jae's leading at. Very near to his subclavian, but still not too threatening to tear the aorta in it.
His body felt like it was quite literally burning, evoking a few grunts from the star who's been suffering from temperature change wise. “Fuck.” The shivers that washed down his vertebrae resulted him to arch his back faintly. It didn't take long for him to feel light headed from the effect of being bitten, considering it was his first, but it didn't feel like he wanted to push Jae off him. Perhaps, it was the healing properties given by the dhampir that was attributing to his regenerative system right now. The firm grip he had on Han evoked a soft moan from him, hips bucking slightly at the overwhelming burning sensation. It wasn't the bite in general, it was where he was bitten. Jae chose a good spot.
Twitching faintly after almost immediately getting lost in the stinging sensation, the sweat slowly formed around his sideburns. He gives a helpless little moan, shifting forward and gripping on Jae's arms. His eyes were hazy and thank god they're already on the bed because he would've fell from the previous actions. Without even waiting for his permission, the celestial switched his position and pushed Jae against the soft sheets covering the bed, hovering above him as he attacked his lips without a thought, wrapping the dhampir's legs around his waist, pushing deeper to cause friction between their proximity together. He didn't even mind that there's still his blood present on the the other male's lips. “Please tell me I taste better than a strawberry, at least."
Jae supposed he was a pushover in that sense because he always wanted to make people happy and to do so he might push aside the things he wanted to give it to them. That was one of his greatest strengths because it made him selfless and kind but it was also very easy to take advantage of and made it difficult for the dhampir to feel like he was really appreciated. He was much worse around his parents, much like his brother, he wanted to do anything and everything that would make them happy, even when it wasn’t what he wanted for himself. Though in that sense, he was becoming less and less obedient to his parents the longer he spent away from them and the more he realized how toxic some of their ideals were.
He was the same way with Hanseol though, always wanting to make him happy and sometimes swallowing down his own pride or feelings to do so. Some arguments just didn’t feel worth having to him and so he would back down before it became anything. Jae hated conflict, he always had, if someone started shouting at him or accusing him, he was much more likely to run. Unless he was drunk, in which case all those tendencies seemed to be reversed and he would get himself into fights.
Jae could see the sweat that glistened against the celestial’s skin which did make him wonder if the celestial was still feverish, but all the color had returned to his face already and the light behind his eyes seemed to ignite once again. Jae just felt really relieved that they’d managed to get past this whole thing, in a way that felt like they would actually be able to move forward on the same page instead of agreeing to disagree, Jae had been giving in to that for far too long now, he could only hope this would be the end of Han shutting him out. Seeing the blush deepen against the star’s cheeks Jae smiled softly and when Hanseol covered his cheeks Jae laughed “Just because I can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s gone you know” he commented with an amused look.
Jae wasn’t normally the one who acted carefully around the other, it was a well-known fact between them by now that Jae was the reckless one, the one who threw himself and the star around a lot and often ended up bumping into things or falling. His mind instantly went back to the time the two of them were kissing on the couch and Jae had rolled a little too far and sent them both crashing onto the floor. They had only laughed before carrying on. But all those times Hanseol hadn’t actually been physically hurt and contrary to what he might say or do, he absolutely never wanted to hurt Hanseol, not even accidentally. When Han tripped a little Jae used their joined hands to steady him and then gave a soft laugh when he realized how opposite of their usual selves this felt.
Jae knew his comment left little opportunity to take it innocently but honestly, he didn’t feel like being coy tonight, his teeth sank into his bottom lip as he watched Hanseol react to what he said and the way the other male suddenly couldn’t look him in the eyes, or at him at all really. The dhampir didn’t point it out though, just followed the star into the bedroom. Jae decided to switch things up as he sat in the celestial’s lap, he wasn’t usually the type to put himself in such a position but it worked for what he wanted to do and he really liked the idea of being able to feel every little movement the star made. Jae didn’t waste any time, he knew if he thought about what he was doing too much then he’d back out of it and at that moment it was what he wanted.
He hadn’t expected his own reflex reaction to the star’s blood the instant he tasted though, the sounds coming from his mouth completely out of his own control as he latched himself against the star’s chest. Despite it feeling amazing for him and sending exhilarating pulses through his body though, part of him was still hypersensitive to the way that Hanseol reacted, he had always been like that, unable to find true pleasure in something unless his partner was too, that’s why he always reacted so intensely to the sounds and movements Han made when they were together.
That’s why he gasped out in pleasure when he felt the celestial arch up against him and an almost feral growl escaped dhampir’s lips in response his nails digging in a little to the celestial’s flesh as he completely lost control of his own reaction. He quickly eased up realizing what he had done just after he did so. He panicked for only a few seconds until he realized the celestial seemed to be okay with it. Jae felt dizzy like his whole head was spinning and every thought he had was consumed with how good the blood in his mouth had tasted, hot and smooth as he swallowed it down and felt the warmth spread its way through his body.
Jae tensed a little when he felt Hanseol’s grip against his arms, mostly because he was so lost in the blood rush that he was struggling to keep a sound mind and then he felt himself tumbling against the mattress. He groaned softly feeling his whole body recoil from the sudden movement and he lifted his hands to rest on the celestial’s hips as he felt Hanseol crush a passionate kiss against his. Jae’s breath instantly got heavier as he pulled Han’s hips down against him which the celestial seemed more than happy to do. Jae threw his head back against the sheets when the celestial spoke and the dhampir smirked a little. He arched his back to lean up against Han’s lips and pulled his bottom lip into his mouth and tugged it down with him as he laid back against the sheets “So good baby” he purred through the haze one hand tangling up in Hanseol’s hair and the other pressed against the middle of his chest just below his neck and slowly trailed down the length of his torso “You taste so good, better than any sweet” he whined softly as he still processed the feeling.
It was even hotter to him because Hanseol was completely bare-chested, the mark Jae had put on him visible even in the soft light that came through the window and Jae was still wearing all his clothes, pinned down by the other male, his legs wrapped around the star’s frame to push himself against him in just the right places “How do you feel?” he asked softly curious to know what it felt like for Hanseol, it was intense for Jae, like all the blood rushed to one place in his body at once and he could understand why it might be easy to get addicted to it. He was coming down from the high but he leaned up to capture Han’s lips again greedily, how badly this made him want him, it almost felt like it was out of his own control.
