Crossroads (Open to Yeonseok, Daehyun, Hanseol and Jaesung) COMPLETED

It felt like this move had been the longest time coming and yet had come around so suddenly too. Yeon remembered talking about moving out to New York for the longest time and at one point it was more a crossing thought than anything but yet here they were today. Tomorrow morning he would be leaving for the airport and leaving Evermore City behind. Dae had managed to convince him to keep the penthouse but all the things had been packed up into boxes and shipped out to his new place already, everything else was still here if he didn't need it or it was packed up in the 2 suitcases he had packed and ready to take. It felt so empty as he looked out over the spacious building, he never ever realized how big it felt before all his things were removed, now it felt a little lonely.

In true Yeon fashion he had insisted that they spend time together before he left which was exactly why he was getting ready to leave now, he was dressed more casually than usual, jeans and a shirt with the sleeves rolled up because it was warm today. They'd agreed to meet at the zoo. He and Hanseol had been hanging out a lot lately and of course, he still spent a lot of time with Dae but it had been a while since the 4 of them had spent time together, the last he remembered was their game night where Han had almost ended up flipping a table after a game of Uno.

Before long he headed down outside the building and got into the car, he gave the driver the address of zoo they were visiting today and then leaned back in the seat. It was on the outskirts of Evermore city where the land started to get more expansive so as he watched out the window he noted the way the houses slowly started to feel less crammed in, there were more gardens and space out here. Sometimes he wondered if he'd like to live in a place with more space and nature but he still seemed to find himself choosing places in the heart of the city. A part of him liked the hustle and bustle and being surrounded by people he didn't know.

When he reached the destination he paid the driver and hopped out of the car, it seemed he was the first one to arrive as he didn't see any of the others waiting in front of the statue so he headed over to it, slinging his bag over his shoulder before leaning against it and pulling out his phone. He had a bunch of work-related messages which he was tempted to answer but he knew how much of a rabbit hole that would be so he swiped on the notification to dismiss it and nodded. Work free day, it was the last day he would get to spend in person with his friends for a while and he wanted to enjoy it.

It felt as if time went by too fast for him, he remembered enjoying the day they had yesterday which later ended up being an auspicious day the niveis won't ever forget but now that he sees Yeon getting ready to go to the airport, it dawned to him that this is real and Yeon is actually leaving, as scheduled. Why does it feel hard for him to let him go? Dae realized he already knew the answer to that. "You're never tardy, Yeon" he chuckled and ruffled his hair slightly and pursed his lips, now that the day is actually here it felt surreal. Yeon is actually leaving to go pursue his dreams and he was happy to know the blond would be thrilled, but it didn't make the longingness in his heart feel any less hurtful. He was losing his good friend too, someone he confided in. Perhaps he was dramatic but Dae has never been good at long distance.

"Don't worry, if you left anything you know you have a quick delivery service from here, it gives me more reasons to come visiting at godly hours" he teased, Yeon would often tell the male he didn't need to have a reason to come visiting but of course, knowing the person he is, he would never turn up for no reason at all. He wasn't sure if that was due to his pride or the consideration he had embedded in him. "I'm gonna go wash my face for a bit" he excused himself and cleared his throat briefly before making his way to the nearest bathroom so he could wash his face and make himself look presentable, leaving Yeon to converse or allow Han to have his moment with his volakiri while he brushed his teeth and kept the water running on the sink. "Get a hold of yourself, Daehyun… don't look so gloomy, NYC is just a few hours away…" the reassurance didn't really work but before long, he was back outside to see all 4 of them ready to depart to the airport.

The first thing he noticed was the look on Han's face which clearly showed what the celestial was feeling, and the iced Americano on the counter. His eyes lit up almost instantly because he recognised Yeon's touch to it, it was always there. He went over to drink it as if it was his morning coffee and sighed in pleasure, this would make things easier for him to digest for sure, he needed his daily coffee to get through the day. "Thanks Yeon, at least someone knows how to make a proper iced Americano" he jested, purposely nudging Han on his skills just to make sure the other male wouldn't look so sad. He couldn't possibly know the pain Han would feel because he had a bond that only he and Yeon could understand but he wanted to lighten up the mood. "You're expecting too much from him Yeon, don't you know this workaholic is just like you hm?"

Jae laughed because Han had always been a heavy sleeper, especially when the two of them slept in the same bed and the dhampir had his arms around the star “No you’ve still got plenty of time” he responded shaking his head in amusement as he heard the thump of Han falling out of bed “I’m supposed to be the clumsy one, you know” he teased as he looked over at Han from the bathroom where he was making himself presentable. Or as presentable as you could be after an impromptu overnight stay at a friend’s anyway.

He padded out of the bedroom after Han, pulling out his phone so that he could quickly check for any messages or emails before tucking it away in his pocket. Jae was better at getting up early than Han because he was used to doing so when he needed to travel across the city for classes which happened more often than not nowadays because he wanted to stay with the star “Me too” he grumbled when Han said he felt like his body had been wrecked, sneaking a shy gaze towards to Dae because they all know whose fault it was.

Jae grinned when Han complimented him and noticing the way he kept pressing himself up against his side, the dhampir reached for his hand and wrapped his own around it, squeezing softly as though to silently say ‘I’m here for you’ before chuckling at the way Yeon teased Han for his workaholic tendencies “Don’t worry, I’ll remind him if he forgets” he prompted with a grin, sometimes it felt like the star had a one-track mind when he was working, he would often forget he was supposed to come to bed and Jae would have to come

His head was still weighing on him, he felt dizzy, as if the whole world just quite literally dropped everything on him and left him to die. Okay, perhaps he was a bit dramatic with that but that's Han for you. When he tripped and fell over the bed earlier, he was sure he bruised himself but the celestial didn't pay much mind to it because his feelings were busy thinking about Yeon. Still, getting up early was definitely not it for Hanseol Park. He sighed heavily and massaged his temples as he downed an entire glass of water to wash it down. "I need aspirin…" he mumbled groggily and opened the top cabinet to get some as he refilled the glass with water once more. Han was a regular here as much as Dae was, he knew where his volakiri kept his things. Most of the time, anyway.

The moment he smelt coffee though, that's when the fallen star gradually found himself gravitating towards the coffee pot. "The smell of heaven" he groaned loudly and brushed himself against Jae, pressing his head on the dhampir's shoulders for support as his lips slowly formed a natural pout, "That's not fair, you should be talking for yourself, Yeon" he was just as worse as him, if not more. But he was still right, Han realized he had a rather one-track mind when it comes to getting things done. "Let's make a deal, if I don't call you at my designated time… I won't pester you for more sweets, or I'll try to lessen my intake" Han didn't take it that much but he really does have a sweet tooth. If he was proposing that, then he was serious enough.

"How can you drink iced Americano when it's freezing- nevermind" it took Han a while to remember the male standing before him is a niveis who prefers everything that is cold and detests the heat. "Does your place in NYC have the same bed?" He raised his eyebrow, "Are you sure you didn't forget your documents? Do you have enough ties?" After a while, he poured himself a cup of coffee, revelling in the warmth he received from it. "You should really leave a spare key to this place for me or something" he joked. The celestial pressed his thumbs against Jae's hips and massaged them gently, ""Are you still sore?"

Yeon chuckled softly when Dae pointed out he was never late “Better not start a new habit then” he commented with a grin, he was a very organized person who liked to have plans and execute them, nothing he did was ever really random. Except perhaps choosing to sleep with a certain icy male one night, that had definitely caused a bit of a spin to his course. Yeon smiled when Dae said he could deliver anything he forgot before following it up with pointing out it was an excuse to come visit “In that case I might forget things on purpose” he teased playfully knowing Dae wasn’t the type to come and show up just because he missed someone.

The blond raised a bit of a confused brow when Dae suddenly excused himself but he shrugged it off as he headed around the kitchen, noting how empty everything looked now that he was leaving it all behind and all that was left is the bare bones of his home. Han wasn’t doing a good job of hiding the fact he was emotional and he was sure that the star could sense the same sentiment from him. When Yeon first decided to make the move, he had very little that tried him down to this city but now the day was finally here, it felt much harder because he had good people here he was now leaving behind.

When Dae came back he chuckled at his thanks for making his favorite coffee and he watched in amusement as the star made his way over to the coffee pot to make one for himself, the valkyr sipped at his own, savoring the taste “You quickly learn he wishes for everything in ice form” he chuckled and shrugged, he just kept ice from the ice machine in case Dae wanted something most of the time. “I’m not just expecting it, I’m demanding it” he scolded shaking his head, he wasn’t going to let this move break any of the bonds they had built here in Evermore.

“It’s a smaller place, no pool unfortunately but the bed is the same” he grinned slightly when Han worried over him, asking if he had everything he needed for the move and he placed a comforting hold on the star’s shoulder “I’ll be okay Han” he assured him with a gentle smile but he could still sense the worry in his volakiri. “Dae has a spare key if you guys wanna borrow the pool at some point, though if you make a mess, I’ll expect it cleaned up” he finished off his coffee and eyed the door for a moment.

Yeon knew him well, and a part of him was grateful that Yeon recognized the hint he was leaving when he said he wanted an excuse to come visit him since Dae wasn't the two eot just do things for the sake of it. Not if he had to admit it out loud so it was better for people to leave whatever he did at point blank. Don't question the things he did even if it was to compliment him, the niveis generally had a natural tendency to shy away from that. "Aren't you lucky to have a delivery service like me? Most people won't even get the chance to even be offered one." He realized he spent longer than he expected to when he stared at his reflection in the mirror, but his priority is keeping his own emotions in check because Han wasn't the only one who was near to tearing up or feeling hollow just thinking about the valkyr leaving. It feels like a goodbye and he didn't know why. Did he depend on Yeon too much?

"I'm a cold guy" he exclaimed bluntly to point out the remarks coming from both Yeon and Han about his tendency to prefer cold everything. "You'd make a pretty ice sculpture, to be honest" and he wasn't just saying it, he knows Han was actually convinced he would do that to him one day so whenever the sudden mention of him being turned into an iced form, the celestial is scared out of his wits. He quickly finished his iced Americano and raised his eyebrows questioningly, "Did you say… same bed? Yeon you gotta leave stuff here more often." And boy did he love Yeon's bed. When Yeon told the other two that he gave a spare key to him, Dae cleared his throat and looked elsewhere as he went over to wash the glass he used.

He eyed the clock and cleared his throat loudly as if attempting to get their attention, "Come on… we should get going, I know you'll throw a silent tantrum if we get into traffic jams" he leveled his gaze onto the fallen star, making sure to point out Han's dislike towards being trapped in an enclosed space like that for longer than usual. He noticed Jae was still looking slightly tired and decided that he could volunteer to drive for today, so Jae would have the time to snuggle up to Han and hopefully keep him rest assured. "I can drive…" The look he had clearly stated that he didn't want a third party intruding on them which meant no designated driver, just them.

Jae was the one in this group who was least close with Yeon and yet he was also picking up on the solemn mood that had come over the group and who could blame them, Yeon was honestly like the glue that kept all of them together, he was the kind of person who was friends with everyone and despite his crazy schedule he always made time to plan fun things for them to do. He knew they were going to feel a void when he left, especially Dae, who despite refusing to admit he cared for the valkyr more than a friend, always seemed to have Yeon’s name on his lips.

Jae skipped the coffee, instead drinking a glass of water while the rest of them talked, he could sense how emotional Han was already by the way he had gone into his overprotective mode, the star could be like that with him sometimes but it was the first time he’d see it happen with Yeon. Jae glanced over at Han when he asked if he was still sore and bit his lip slightly “I’ll be fine” he insisted just as Dae pointed out he would drive “Are you sure?” he questioned, Jae had planned to drive so the other two could have some time to process but perhaps the niveis was looking for a distraction.

He pulled the keys from his pocket and tossed them in Dae’s direction before heading towards the elevator and pressing the button to call for it. They stood there as a group for a moment, giving Yeon a few minutes to process leaving his place before the ping finally alerted them that the elevator had arrived and Jae stepped inside, waiting for the others to join him before he pressed the button for the ground floor. Naturally, he sidled up against Han and smiled at the star “How are you holding up?” he mumbled softly.

His feelings were piling on top of one another and Han wasn't sure if he's feeling A or B, or both. But his head was a mess and so was his heart. Thankfully, the other 3 seemed pretty calm and collected compared to him, which was probably for the better since the celestial would end up being an emotional train wreck either way. Even though Yeon hasn't even stepped a foot outside of the place yet, Han was already making plans to visit the valkyr as soon as possible. That was how much he's going to miss him. "He is ice, did you forget how the guy threatened me by freezing one half of the table one time? Yeah I'm still remembering that for the rest of my life, it's a story I'm going to tell my grandchildren" he huffed, that was one click to the past. Han had annoyed and teased the niveis so badly the blond actually retaliated by freezing one half of his table as a clear warning.

Of course it melted afterwards but still, to say it did not traumatise the celestial would be an understatement. When Yeon told him Dae had a spare key should they wish to use the place, the fallen star raised his eyebrows skeptically and scoffed, "I think I'll soon find myself being thrown outside the window before that guy hands me the key… but that's okay, I'll ask Jae to do it on my behalf." Of course, it was a joke. Han and Dae didn't get along at first but they weren't that bad. He pressed his lips against Jae's forehead and rubbed his hips gently, "If you say so." He wasn't surprised when someone volunteered to drive because he would do better without a driver driving them there but he didn't expect it to be Dae, considering the niveis barely likes making an effort to do most things he doesn't find the thrill in doing. Including driving. But perhaps he saw how tired Jae was being.

"I'm gonna bite my tongue on that remark because I would actually throw a tiny tantrum because of traffic… so we better go." Once they got inside the elevator, Han found Jae sided against him and that caused him to nuzzle into his touch while purring silently, "I'm… doing better than I thought but I think my tear ducts will betray me once we reach the airport honestly…" It was very possible. The elevator ride was not long, it has always been efficient that way, so it didn't take them long to get to the basement. "I really hope there won't be horrible traffic…"

Honestly, Yeon did have some reservations about leaving Evermore simply because he was the kind of person who did worry over those closest to him, he worried about Han getting himself into a situation he didn’t know how to get himself out of and Dae, Dae he worried would get lonely, because regardless of how much the niveis acted like he didn’t care for others around, Yeon knew him better than that. “ Very lucky, much speedier than an overnight courier” he teased softly, he knew from experience how fast that Dae could make his way to him. Yeon chuckled at the bickering between Dae and Han, how they kept talking about ice and making empty threats back and forth.

“I swear no one would believe you two were part of the same friend circle” he commented and sighed in an exasperated manner, sometimes he wished he could get some time to breathe around the two of them but it was still part of their charm and he wouldn’t change them. “Yes, the bed’s staying” he teased playfully knowing the other male was such a fan of it “It’s not exactly easy to lug a bed 4 hours away” he chuckled, it was much easier to buy a second one. Besides, he got the feeling that maybe Dae would want it in case he needed a comfortable place to crash, hell Yeon had basically already given him permission to live there if he so wished.

Yeon followed them over to the elevator, taking a moment to look around and just process everything that was happening, he couldn’t believe this was really it. He was really leaving. When the elevator arrived he tugged his suitcase behind him but stayed watching until the doors closed. He took a long breath before they finally reached the basement and then headed over to Jae’s car, he put his suitcase into the trunk and then headed around to the passenger seat so that he could sit beside Dae while he drove “You didn’t have to drive” he spoke softly though the smile on his lips said he appreciated the fact he did.

Han should be able to hold it up far better than him, if he was being honest. The celestial had Jae to help him through it and while it feels like scraping and pulling his other half away, quite literally, he would be able to go through it with Jae's help. Whereas him? Was he going to be fine without Yeon? Should he relocate to NYC too just in case? No, that'd be weird. You can't keep depending on him, he told himself. "You know how fast I can go" he winked playfully and chuckled, honestly he hoped that he could bring anything Yeon left behind because that would definitely give him a reason to fly all the way there. Upon hearing Yeon's remark about him and Han being friends, the niveis scoffed and crossed his arms, "They're not the only ones who couldn't believe we're friends" he may say it like that but all of them knew Dae actually likes Han, he just doesn't show it.

Teasing him is his favorite pastime so there was no way he would jeopardise it by expressing his fondness over the fallen star. "I wasn't just giving out empty threats that time though, Han. The next thing I was gonna freeze was that thigh next to the table." He pointed towards the other male's thighs and snickered. The celestial could be so jumpy and defensive sometimes, it was hard not to tease him over it. When Jae asked him if he really wants to drive, he nodded in affirmation, "I can drive properly, don't worry, you just focus on resting at the back and keeping Snowball from acting out. You know how he is with enclosed spaces." The elevator ride was making Dae twitch silently, the melody emitted from the speakers are making him go crazy. He is so tense it was pretty much visible to anyone who takes a close look at him.

He took the keys from Jae and bit his lip as he started the engine, waiting for Yeon and the rest to get inside while his grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly. Calm down, he told himself. When Yeon got inside the passenger seat, Dae spared him a knowing smile, "I wanted to. Having a designated driver for this takes away the… sentimental value. Besides… I want all of us to be able to talk freely without the presence of another." It wasn't as if they never could do this even when Yeon's driver is present but Dae could barely hold in his feelings from spilling on the spot, the last thing he wanted to do was expose himself to anyone else aside from his friends. Before long, they had already exited the parking lot and joined the other cars in the bustling city. He decided to take the other road to avoid any unnecessary traffic, which was a more lengthy journey by only a few miles with less cars. "It's deadly silent…" he grumbled and switched on the radio but the song that came up seemed to understand his emotions. The audacity of the radio station. This is awkward.

It was almost like Jae could see the tension hanging in the air between them all, it made him wonder how they would all really fair without Yeon. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, it always felt like the valkyr was the one holding them all together and while he knew it was a short time in the prospect of forever, he didn’t really want their reality to change. He had gotten used to having friends here, ones that accepted every part of him, the good and bad. It felt like an ending of sorts “Admittedly Han, you did threaten to steal his food first” he argued in response but it was definitely a drastic move from the niveis that ensured history wouldn’t repeat itself.

Jae laughed softly when the two of them bickered again about Yeon’s home, he’d heard that originally the valkyr was planning to sell the place which made him wonder what changed his mind, perhaps he had memories he didn’t want to let go of here in Evermore. Jae knew he would be extremely saddened if Han told him he wanted to move his place after all, that place was where their story had developed. He closed his eyes and smiled when Han pressed a kiss against his head and reached to stroke against the star’s back gently “We’ll have a bath later” he teased playfully, that would help with sore muscles for certain.

Jae nodded in understanding when Han admitted his emotions were likely to get the better of him, his hand squeezing gently against him “I think you should let it...Yeon will understand” and Han was the type who was better not to bottle up his emotions. Before they knew it, they had made it to the car, it felt almost strange getting into the back seat considering Jae was normally the one who drove but he did so, edging along so that Han could follow him inside to, his arm tucking around him and pulling him in against his shoulder, glancing out the window as Dae pulled off “Either way you’ve got me here to protect you” he commented and nuzzled against him.

While the two of them were still having somewhat a silent 'heated' stare off going on between them, Jae's remark quickly made the celestial whine in response because he knew Jae was right. "You didn't have to say it out loud or bring it up though… Jae aren't you supposed to be on my side?" He pouted, "I wasn't trying to steal it anyway… not really…" Even though they all know the truth to it. Han would definitely steal it away if he could. Keyword being could. Not that the niveis would allow him to do that and he really did threaten to freeze those hands off and cut it. Han was glad Yeon decided to keep the penthouse after all, he likes it here and admittedly would come over a lot. But now that the valkyr will be gone, he didn't know if there is any reason for him to come hanging out at a place where the owner is no longer residing at. It would feel weird.

"I'm not the one who brought this circle together Fforest us to be friends in the first place" he huffed and crossed his arms in retaliation, technically he did because if it wasn't because of their volakiri bond, he wouldn't meet Yeon and for what he knows, Dae met Yeon before meeting Jae. It's a chain of events that would bring the word coincidence to shame, honestly. Han instinctively purred against the dhampir's touch when he pressed a kiss and stroked his back, it was his comfort go-to gesture. "A bath sounds good… ugh I can't wait to go back and let the warm water love me." Han does love his bathing sessions, especially when Jae would join him afterwards.

When Jae told him Yeon would understand what he feels, Han scoffed but looked down as if he was resigning to the fact that Yeon is really leaving, "Of course he would understand… he knows how I truly feel Jae… I can't hide it from him even if I want to. That's not fair…" but a part of him was also grateful that this volakiri bond allows the valkyr to know what he feels. It would be better. As soon as he got inside the car, he leaned against the seat and pressed his head against Jae's shoulder, pulling him close so he could snuggle even deeper. When he nuzzled against the fallen star, Han took it as a chance to press his lips against his and mumble, "I feel reassured…" He was going to say something but the bump Dae hit made him hit the window instead. "I know that was on purpose you icy chicken..." He rubbed his face and frowned at the one in the driver's seat.

The valkyr smirked to himself when Dae said he knew how fast he could go, of course he knew by now that the niveis was a free spirit who came and went as he pleased, if anything he felt lucky that the icy male made time for him at all because he was always off here there and everywhere taking care of one thing or another. “That’s what makes it work though...opposites and all” he commented and chuckled, they all kept one another in check somehow. Yeon laughed under his breath when Dae said he really did plan on freezing Han “He doesn’t mean it, he just gets hangry” the valkyr rolled his eyes playfully, playing intermediary between these two was a part of his routine by now.

He nudged against Dae’s side as though to emphasize his point, despite the threats that the niveis threw around, he very rarely actually got pissed off his friends and Yeon knew he didn’t intend to hurt anyone he cared about, even if he wouldn’t admit out loud he even liked them. He sighed slightly “He’s not a zoo animal you know, you don’t make fun of me for my issues with heights” Yeon was not a fan of heights or flying, which was funny considering how much time he spent on planes. He tended to just not look out the window, but he was sure Dae remembered what happened when he had flown with Yeon in his arms before.

After getting into the car he smiled at Dae when he said he wanted to drive and said nothing more on the matter, making himself comfortable in the seat and looking out the window, taking in the city as it passed by outside knowing he wouldn’t get to see it again in a while, in a weird way, Evermore had felt much more like home than he expected it to in the past year. “Sounds like you’re about to tell us about some secret mission” he joked when Dae said he wanted them to be able to talk freely “I’m not joining a cult you know” he rolled his eyes playfully before falling quiet for a moment. He was trying to stay lighthearted but it was getting harder, especially because he could feel his heart clenching a little in sadness.

Yeon reached for the radio right at the moment Dae did, his hand brushing against his for a moment, the valkyr giving him a look and a slight smile before moving away to allow him to pick something. He bit his lip for a moment because he had noticed something he hadn’t expected when he touched Dae which was a slight shake to his hands.
